So far gone

The next day was a Sunday. Phoebe woke up early; she couldn't sleep at all. All she could think was what her future self told her.

Phoebe looked at Cole, who was sleeping peacefully. She was definitely risking his life with her decision to keep their relationship. Maybe, just maybe, her future self was right and the only way to save him was releasing his heart.

She loved him and wanted to save him, but she didn't know how. If she failed, he would die. If she did as her future self told her, she would lost him.

Here was her dilemma.

"Good morning," he said softly, rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning," she said sighing heavily. "Do you really want to go to the picnic?"

Cole nodded. "It's a opportunity to relax," he said.

They took a shower and changed their clothes to go out. Phoebe stared at Cole's figure in concern. You're playing with his life, Halliwell, a voice inside her head warned her.

It was ten o'clock when they met the sisters and Wyatt at a park. The little boy instantly started to wave his hands and giggle when he saw Cole.

Immediately, Cole managed to put the baby in his lap, before he could orb straight into his arms, like he used to do. " He likes you too much," Piper said quietly.

"I like him too," Cole said, glancing at her.

Phoebe watched curiously that scene. It was hard to admit that but Cole and Piper had some chemistry together.

After the last battle, they became more closer to each other. With Leo's death, Piper found herself alone with a baby in her arms. Cole helped her to go through this hard moment of grief and loss. Maybe that was why Wyatt liked him so much, because Cole was the father he never had.

Phoebe felt a sharp and sudden pain in her heart when her gaze turned to Piper. She noticed the twinkle in her sister's eyes, they way she looked up at Cole... Piper maybe didn't know that, but she was falling in love.

"Are you excited for the wedding?" Paige asked, breaking her thoughts.

"Yeah," Phoebe faked a smile.

Paige looked up at Cole, Wyatt and Piper. "I never thought Cole as family man... It's a surprise!" she remarked.

"He's good," Phoebe said, clearing her throat.

"Yeah, I have to admit he has been good to Piper and Wyatt, a real friend..." Paige said truthfully.

Then Phoebe stared at them again and shook her head. It was happening again. She was willing to sacrifice Cole for her personal needs.

And it wasn't right at all...

She didn't want to turn into that sad and tortured soul, full of regrets. She certainly wanted to be with Cole, but his happiness was more important to her than that.

She needed to let it go and think of Cole's safety.

Phoebe sighed heavily, as Piper approached her. "You remember about tomorrow, don't you?" she asked, without taking her eyes of Cole and Wyatt.

Phoebe shook her head. "I'm sorry, I..."

Piper rolled her eyes. "Phoebe, I have an appointment at the morning. You promised me to take care of Wyatt..."

"Yeah, I remember now..." she lied. "Don't worry..."

Piper nodded and hugged her. "I'll go to Cole's penthouse at the morning to leave Wyatt with you, thanks."

Suddenly, an idea crossed Phoebe's mind. If Cole's happiness was with Piper, then she needed to accept that.

At least he'll be alive, she thought.

Cole's penthouse

At night

Phoebe looked at Cole and sighed. It would be the most difficult thing she ever had to do and she needed all her strength to keep calm.

"I'm really tired," Cole remarked, as he put his pajamas on.

"Tired?" she rolled her eyes. "Of course you're tired. You spent your whole day taking care of Piper's son!"

Cole frowned. "Phoebe..."

"I don't like the way you're so attached to Wyatt and Piper..." she said angrily.

He looked at her in disbelief. "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing, I'm just tired of you being so gentle with my sister!" she said crossing her arms.

"You're not talking seriously!" he shouted.

"You're mine and I don't want to share what's mine, that's all!" she said nastily.

"You're being ridiculous," he said angrily. "And you know what? I'm not going to have this stupid discussion with you... Tomorrow I need to wake up early and I need to rest. I can't believe you..."

"This discussion is not over!" she yelled.

"Good night, Phoebe," he said, trying to ignore her.

Phoebe took in a deep breath and mentally asked for forgiveness. She walked towards him and grabbed his hand.

She cleared her throat and started to chant: "Tonight leave troubles behind, Your lips won't say goodbye, My heart is burning like fire, You'll do what I desire."

Phoebe turned her face away, as Cole's eyes became empty. "I'm sorry," she whispered and a tear fell down her check.

She turned to face him again and caressed his face. "Go to our bedroom, take off your clothes, go to bed and sleep," she ordered.

As Cole did as she ordered, she opened the wardrobe and took out all her clothes. She started to pack all her things into a suitcase. Her hands were shaking and she felt like her heart would break in a million of pieces.

It was three o'clock in the morning, when she finally closed and locked the suitcase. She sat down on the bed next to Cole and gently touched his face. "I am so sorry... But your safety is the most important thing to me..." she said sobbing. Then she pulled a letter from her pocket and placed it next to Cole.

With a deep sigh, Phoebe stood up and pick up her suitcase. She walked slowly to the door and stopped for a moment. She knew it would be hard to leave Cole, but she needed to do it.

Don't look back, she ordered to herself and closed the door behind her.

When Cole woke up in the morning, his vision was blurry. He rubbed his forehead and closed his eyes for a moment. He was confused and felt woozy. Then he looked around him and started to realize what happened.

He had a blackout.

"Phoebe..." he whispered, breathing heavily.

He looked at his side and noticed a letter. He took it in his hands and read it:

Dear Cole,

At this time you must be asking why it happened to you again. I broke my promise to you and cast the damn spell again. I'm really sorry, there's no excuse for what I did to you. I don't know who I am anymore...

That's why I'm leaving San Francisco. Please, don't try to find me. I don't want to come back. I'm doing this to protect you, because I don't want to hurt you anymore.

Goodbye.

Cole still had the letter in his hands, when he heard someone entering the room. "Phoebe!" he shouted angrily.

"Cole, it's me, Piper!" the Charmed One said, carrying her baby on her lap.

She walked slowly into his room and saw him sitting up, with teary eyes.

"Cole..." she said, walking to him. "What happened? Where's Phoebe?"

He shook his head. "I'm an idiot... I'm stupid," he said, clearly confused.

Piper looked at him in concern and sat the baby on the bed. "Cole, you're scaring me... What happened?"

"I trusted her... I was stupid enough to trust her," he said and Piper finally noticed the letter in his hands. She took it from him and read it.

"Oh my God..." she muttered.

"What's wrong with her, Piper? I can't understand why she did this again!" he said in frustration.

Piper shook her head. "I am sorry," she said hugging him tightly.
