A/N: Hello everyone so here's the next chapter for Tales of an immortal being and I can tell you this one took me forever to write, but because of that this is a really long chapter. The characters may seem a bit OOC, but forgive me for that. Also next chapter will be the last one in the Doctor Who crossover chapters and after that we will go back to 'normal' chapters. I already got a couple of an amazing ideas from people for new chapters. Again I like to say that I'm not English so forgive me for any mistakes that I have made.

''So doctor, where are we going?'' Martha asked as she leaned against the panels of the TARDIS.
The doctor turned to look at her, a smirk spread over his lips. ''Meeting an old friend. ''He turned to look at the TARDIS' panels and placed his hands gently on the metal. ''She has been bugging me to go for awhile now.''
''What do you mean?'' She asked as she straightened her back.
''You will see, she's rather fond of him after all.'' And with that he pushed in a couple of buttons and she could feel the TARDIS move beneath her feet. She quickly grabbed for a bar and held onto it. Meanwhile she eyed the doctor, the man was looking at the panels with a sparkle in his eyes, had he been to this place before. ''Go on, take a look.''
Martha smiled at him before rushing to the doors, it was what she liked most, that first sight when stepping out of the TARDIS. She opened the doors and looked outside, what she saw wasn't something that she had expected, though she didn't dislike it. It was an old looking room, bottles filled with many different colours, books scattered all over the room and the strong smell of herbs. ''When are we?'' She asked as she turned back to the doctor.
''612 A.D.'' The doctor replied when he stepped next to her. He looked around for a moment before turning back to the TARDIS. ''I had hoped that she would not land us in the middle of anyone's living quarters, but it has been done.'' And with that said he walked towards the table and took up one of the books. ''Ahh, it seems that we have landed in the chambers of a colleague of yours, an physician.''
At the same time that he said that a door was opened and Martha's eyes quickly shifted to the man now standing in the door opening. The elderly man was looking startled at them, a basket with what she believed were dried herbs tightly clasped in his hands. ''E-excuse me, but... may I ask what the two of you are doing here? Are you in need of any medical assistance?''
The doctor let out a small laugh. ''No, I fear that we-.'' He waved his hand towards Martha and himself. ''- have made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in what I do believe are your chambers.''
''Yes, that's right, I'm Gaius the Court Physician of Camelot.''
Martha's eyes widened and a loud squeal left her lips. She quickly covered her lips with her hands, looking with a slight blush at the doctor, who stared rather amused at her, while the elderly physician had one eyebrow raised. ''Are you sure that you're fine, Mrs.-'
She quickly held up her arms as she stared from the doctor to Gaius. ''No, no, we aren't married!'' Martha was about to introduce herself to him, when a man suddenly stormed into the room, eyes wide with excitement.
The man stopped in front of her and the doctor, the widest grin on his face. ''Doctor!'' And with that he threw his arms around the doctor, the Timelord happily responded with wrapping his own arms around the man.
Martha looked startled up at them, the physician next to her doing much the same. ''Merlin, you... know this man?''
Wait did he just call him Merlin? Like in the Merlin?! No it couldn't be, it must be a common name from this time... though being with the doctor had taught her to expect everything. Even so magic just couldn't exist.
'Merlin' put up an grin as he rubbed the back of his head. ''Yeah, kinda.'' He then turned back to the TARDIS, brushing his hands over the blue wood. ''Hi Sexy, you look great.'' The man leaned forwards, letting his forehead rest on the wood.
Merlin than pushed away from the TARDIS and turned to the elderly man. ''Gaius I would like you to meet the doctor and the blue box is called the TARDIS.'' The brightest blue eyes than met her own brown ones and the other looked slightly troubled. ''Though I do fear that I don't know this woman.'' He than looked at the doctor. ''Where's Rose?''
The doctor's face fell as he slowly shook his head. ''She's gone...'' The Timelord than quickly pulled up an fake smile before waving his arms towards her. ''But I would like to introduce you to Martha, Martha meet Merlin.'' Merlin turned back to her, bowing slightly to her.
Gaius stared suspicious at the doctor and he eventually asked. ''Are you a sorcerer?''
The doctor looked slightly amused at the physician. ''I'm not an sorcerer, I can assure you. All I have is my technology and my wit... I take it that people aren't that kind when it comes magic around here.''
''That is right.''
Martha turned to look at Merlin and she saw the other bite his lip. R-really magic? But if it is forbidden than why is Merlin here?... Still she wasn't quite sure if she believed that magic really existed.
''I can assure you Giaus, both I and Martha don't mean any harm and we don't want to stir up any trouble.'' The man didn't seem reassured. The doctor than turned back to Merlin. ''So do you want to show us Camelot?''

Merlin was smiling broadly as he walked in front of the doctor and Martha. The doctor was staring with a nearly childlike excitement at everything and talked with a few servants as well. His fellow servants had looked worriedly at Merlin, but they calmed a bit as he gave them a reassuring smile. Martha on the other hand was completely silent as she stared in amazement around her.
Somehow he was relieved that he had met the doctor again. Last time he met the doctor, that fateful day when he was only twelve years old, was nowadays barely more than a faded memory. Something inside him had feared that his child self had made the doctor and Rose up. It was why he had felt so relieved when he first felt Sexy, the TARDIS, again just an hour before. He had even dropped Arthur's laundry.
''Oh, Merlin.'' He turned to look at the hallway they just past and saw Gwen walk towards them. The maidservant was smiling fondly at him and her eyes seemed to sparkle brightly, most likely because she and Arthur had met up that afternoon. ''Who are your friends?''
''Ahh, Gwen met the doctor and Martha.'' He said as he looked from her to the doctor and Martha. ''Doctor, Martha meet Guinevere.''
''Just call me Gwen.'' The maidservant replied.
He couldn't help but smile as he saw the shocked expression on Martha's face. The doctor had fallen to one knee and placed a small kiss on the back of Gwen's hand. ''It's a pleasure to meet you milady.''
Gwen giggled slightly. ''Oh you shouldn't address me like that, I'm just a simple maid.''
''Yet I do believe that it's appropriate.'' The doctor answered with a smile.
''Uhmm, yeah... I fear that I need to go back to work.'' The maid said and Merlin could see how a blush spread over her cheeks. She then turned back to him and whispered in his ear. ''They're strange, she's even wearing trousers, are you sure that they are okay?''
''Yeah, they are fine, but I have to agree that they are strange.''
Gwen gave him a slight nod before hurrying off. Behind him he could hear Martha whisper something about a queen to the doctor. He turned back to the both of them and he saw a sparkle in Martha's eyes.
The maid was barely out of sight when he felt an arm being thrown around his shoulder. ''Hi Merls.'' He heard Gwaine say right next to him, just before the smell of alcohol hit him.
''You have already started drinking today?'' He asked as he had one eyebrow raised. It was barely noon.
The knight let out a laugh. ''It's never to early for mead!'' Gwaine than turned to look at the other two, his smile brightening as he made a small bow. ''Ah and may I asked who this fair lady is?''
Martha blinked before offering Gwaine her hand, which he kissed. ''Martha... Martha Jones.''
''Ah, my fair lady. It's a true pleasure to meet you.'' The brunette knight stood up and stepped closer to her. ''May I show you my cha-.'' Luckily for Martha Gwaine was interrupted before he could say anything more.
''MERLIN!''
He stiffened hearing that far to familiar voice and next to him he could see Gwaine turn to smirk at him. ''Did I forget to tell you that princess was looking for you?''
The warlock glared at the knight for a moment before turning to his king. ''Yes Arthur?'' Arthur was staring at him with one eyebrow raised and it didn't take long before realization came to him. ''Ah... Lunch?''
''Yes, Lunch Merlin.'' The king than pinched the bridge of his nose, but he could hear that Arthur was only partly angry at him, at least now he had a excuse to be late for the council meeting.
He was about to give the king a reply, his famous grin already spread over his lips when the sound of the warning bells echoed through the castle. He saw how Arthur tensed up, Martha stepped a bit closer to the doctor, while the doctor didn't seemed startled at all by the sudden warning sound. Merlin himself felt his magic stir underneath his skin.
Arthur glanced at him before ordering. ''Go see if Gwen's safe.'' Normally he would have made a comment about the king being worried for the life of a 'mere' maidservant, but he could see the worry on his friend's face. Still that didn't mean he was about to leave Arthur's side.
''I'm sure that Gwen's safe, I'm of far more use at your side after all. Who else will be there to protect your royal backside?''
''Merlin!'' Arthur snapped, but he could see the worry on his friend's face. He could see that Arthur was about to give him another order, but the king stopped himself, simply shaking his head, before unsheathing his sword and running down the corridor. ''Just don't get killed, you idiot.''
Merlin just smirked as he ran after the king. He glanced back to Martha and the doctor. ''Could be dangerous, you two should get back to Gaius.''
''Nahh, we love the excitement, we're coming too, right doctor?'' Martha replied.
''I'm always in for an adventure.''
He just shrugged in return before turning to make up for the distance that had build up between him and Arthur.

Arthur glanced back to see Merlin not far behind him, the two strangers right behind his friend. Why did that idiot always have to follow him like a loyal dog? He was grateful, even so he would never say it. He wasn't completely sure when it happened, but he just wasn't able to picture his life without Merlin in it anymore. He felt like such a fool.
The king turned his attention back as he stopped in front of the doors to the courtyard. Immediately two knights rushed up to him, Sir Boris and Sir Elyan. ''G-Giant snakes!'' The first one breathed out.''
''What?!'' Merlin's startled voice asked behind him.
Elyan looked troubled at him. ''It must be magic... Morgana?''
He felt a sting of hurt and guilt hearing his half sister's name. He tried not to show those emotions on his face, but seeing how Merlin was looking at him he could be certain that he had failed. He breathed in before replying. ''How many and have you spotted any weak spots?''
''Two and no.''
''Than we just have to figure something out!'' He turned back to look at his servant. ''Merlin, anything you know about them in Gaius' books?'' Merlin shook his head, a slightly guilty expression spread over his features.
One of the strangers, the skinny man, stood next to the door, closing it as he turned to the group. ''Two Basilisks, young ones I have to say.''
''Than you know about a way to kill them?''
The man glared at him. ''No killing, they are most likely as scared of us as we are of them.''
''They are killing people!'' Arthur snapped. Who did this man think that he was, talking like that to his king?
The man stared slightly irritated at him. ''Basilisk's normally live in dark caves, if we can get them out of the city than they should just slider off and search for a very dark place to live. They won't be any trouble once you get them out of the city.''
Arthur turned to look at Merlin, who just gave him a not knowing smile. ''Fine... how would you say that we do this?''
''Ah, that's simple. We just need someone to lure them to the edge of the city and close the gates behind them.''

Merlin let out a small yelp as he nearly tripped over his own feet while running. He turned to glance backwards, seeing the Basilisks close behind him, their fangs ready to rip him apart.
''Merlin, run!'' He heard Elyan shout somewhere behind him. He rolled his eyes, he wasn't really planning on stopping after all. He could feel his magic twitch, but he couldn't use it now that everyone was watching.
It was than that he saw the doctor appear from out of one of the alleys. ''This way!''
He made a sharp right, again nearly stumbling over his feet, and ran next to the doctor. ''You have any ideas?''
''A couple, seven to be exact, that is if you us some of you magic.''
''And would you like to inform me on them?''
The doctor grinned at him. ''Just need a little bit of- Duck!'' He was pulled down as an Basilisk's tail rushed over their heads, slamming into the wall just above their heads. Both men scrambled back to their feet and returned to running. ''… Okay now only two. Just get them out of the walls and I will handle the gate.'' And with that said that doctor disappeared again, slipping into one of the many alleys of the lower town.
Of course the Basilisks didn't bother with the doctor as they seemed to slider even faster after the poor warlock.
He reached the gates just a minutes later and saw the doctor in the corner of his eyes. How in the world was he there before him?! No, no there were more important things, the most important one trying to not be eaten!
He ran out through the gates, leaving the lower town behind him. He crossed the grass and entered the woods before he muttered a small spell. He quickly hid behind one of the trees, his eyes still the brightest golden. The basilisks slithered past him, but it was as if they sensed his magic and they turned back towards him. Their blood red eyes staring hungrily at him, their fangs dripping with poison.
Merlin felt his heart beat loudly in his chest, before once again returning to running, but this time back towards the gates, to safety. He heard them again, moving after him, a low primal hiss echoing through the sky.
''Merlin, quick!'' The doctor shouted as his head peaked out from behind the gates. He rolled his eyes, he wasn't really planning on slowing down after all.
Sometimes he wondered if Arthur was right when he called him clumsy. He had barely passed the gate when he tripped over his own feet, face first into the dirt. The warlock rolled over and almost on instinct pulled up an shield before the gate. ''Get the gate down!'' He snapped at the doctor.
The doctor hastily pointed his wand thingy at the rope holding the gate up and a bright blue light spread over the rope. It took a moment, in which the basilisks kept pounding hard on his shield, but the rope broke. The gate came crashing down and thus preventing the basilisks from coming inside.
The shield disappeared and his eyes returned to his original blue colour. He turned to look at the doctor, relief spreading in both their eyes.
''Merlin!'' He heard Arthur's sudden voice and he spun around as he heard the fear in the word. The king was staring at him, eyes wide and his sword tightly clenched in his hand. Not far behind him stood Martha and the knights.
He could feel his heart tighten... had... had Arthur seen his magic?
The king took a step forwards as his lips tightened. ''Sorcerer!'' He snapped, but it wasn't at him, it was directed at the doctor. ''I should have known. You were against killing those snakes because they are yours, aren't they?'' Both Merlin and the doctor stared at him before Arthur glanced at Merlin. He frowned slightly as he saw a hint of worry and fear as he and Arthur locked eyes. ''Merlin, come here!'' He ordered.
But he had no time to act on anything. He felt an arm wrap itself around his neck and he was pulled against a chest. ''Don't you dare come any closer or I will kill him with my...- wand!'' The doctor shouted next to his ear just as he heard the soft buzzing sound of the man's wand thingy.
''You coward!'' Arthur growled
The doctor put on a dark smile before he whispered in a low voice to Merlin. ''Don't worry I won't be doing anything. Just need you so I can keep my head on my shoulders... And could you send Martha a mental message to go back to the TARDIS? I don't really think we can settle this peacefully.''
''How did y-?''
''I don't think that this is the moment to explain. Just send her the message.''
Merlin gave a slight nod before he tried to grasp Martha's mind. He gave her the doctor's message after quickly trying to calm her sudden shock, but she did what she was told and ran off.
''Okay, we're going to move.'' The doctor whispered as he started to move back towards the castle and past Arthur and the knights. They were all looking worried at him, Arthur and Gwaine clenching their swords so strong that their knuckles turned white and he could see Percival's powerful muscles twitch as he tensed up. ''Don't you dare try anything!'' It was than that the doctor turned back to whispering to him. ''We will see each other again in the future, but for now I do believe that this is goodbye, I have to run.''
With that said he felt the doctor push him away and he ended up colliding with Arthur who instinctively wrapped his arms around him. ''Get the sorcerer!'' Arthur ordered as Merlin turned his neck, watching as he saw the doctor run away on his long legs. ''Are you okay?''
He met a pair of worried blue eyes and he returned it with his foolish grin, what was he supposed to say? ''I-I'm fine... you should watch what you say, someone would believe that you actually cared.''
''Idiot!'' Arthur growled. ''… Those damn sorcerers.''
Those words stung. ''Prat.''
''What was that for?'' The king asked as he raised his eyebrow. He just simply shook his head in return.
In the end the doctor and Martha escaped and everything returned back to normal. The basilisks did disappear into the woods, just as the doctor had predicted, but even so everyone still saw the doctor and Martha as evil sorcerers. How he wished he could tell them. But at least he knew that they were safe.
He hoped that he would be seeing them again, though he wouldn't mind if it would be sooner than last time. He didn't really like waiting another ten years or even more, he would be getting old. A small smile spread over his lip, how he wished that he could come with the doctor to see the future. But he knew his place was in Camelot alongside Arthur. Still that didn't stop him from longing for what would happen in the future, ten, hundred, or maybe even a thousand years in the future. He wondered if anybody would remember him... but he wouldn't know, he would long be dead by then.
