Summary: Lily was not who everyone thought she was, but she would do anything to protect her baby. Yet, on that fateful Halloween night, ancient magic of the Slytherin family saves Harry and now he's to grow up in another time. He's raised by his ancestor. What happens when he rejoins his time?
Notes: As a friend of mine has stated, there are certain languages that seemed to not be used often. This is because you don't hear them as much; Balthezar's main languages of use are Old English and Old Norse. You see that he only uses the others depending on who he's talking to. Now this doesn't mean that languages like Latin or Old Welsh will disappear, it just means he's not necessarily around the people who speak them. Don't worry however; there are parts of this story that will still call for the other languages.

Chapter 54

Balthezar looked towards the sky. It had been several days since he had made the pact with Amadeus. Yet, there was a sense of foreboding that permeated his very being. It had taken a strong hold and only intensified as the days went on. The feeling told him that the battle would soon start. He closed his eyes and tried to get the feeling to go away.

However, the feeling refused to leave. Balthezar opened his eyes and looked around the area that he was in. He stood in a clearing that felt as if it was in the centre of the forest. He wasn't sure if it was, but it didn't stop that it felt like it. He then looked up at the sky and stared at the various stars that were there. Reaching up to the sky, he closed his hand into a fist. He then let his arm fall to his side. 'It has been so long since I last stared at the sky. I haven't felt this sense of wonder with the stars in a long time. It's like it disappeared with age.' He then sighed and let his mind drift towards a time when he and Salazar would look at the stars.

Flashback

A young Balthezar sat next to Salazar on top of the Astronomy Tower. Salazar pointed to the sky and outlined a shape. Balthezar's eyes widened as the shape of a human appeared to him. Salazar smiled and let his hand drop to his side. He watched as Balthezar continued to stare at the sky. The boy was amazed with what he saw during their weekly sessions. The boy then snuggled closer to Salazar in an attempt to stay warm.

Salazar put an arm around Balthezar's shoulders. -The constellation is called Orion. I showed it to you when you were still a toddler.- Balthezar nodded as he soaked in Salazar's warmth. He let out a sigh and saw his breath. He then closed his eyes. The cold weather had almost stopped them from watching the stars. However, he hadn't let Salazar put the session on hold.

He then made a noise and cuddled closer to Salazar. -Orion, I know that name. Rowena told me about it. He was a hunter in times long past.- Salazar nodded and kept on holding the boy. Balthezar fell silent as he continued to look at the sky. The stars in the sky entranced him with their brightness. He watched the stars as he tried to figure out where they came from.

Salazar looked at the boy and frowned. -You know, I never told you where the stars come from.- Balthezar turned and looked at Salazar. Salazar then smiled. -The stars come from the gods, Balthezar. The gods put them there to remind us that there is more to this world than we know.- He watched as Balthezar's eyes widened. Salazar nodded at the question that he saw in those eyes. -Many people call those stars the Heavens. Yet, I believe that they are there to remind us that the world is far larger than we can perceived.- Balthezar nodded and went back to looking at the sky.

Thinking about what Salazar had said, Balthezar smiled . -They do seem to be that way. But, would the gods really do that?- He finally looked at Salazar. -I agree that there's more than this. I just don't think that the gods would put them there for such a simple reason.- He stopped and watched Salazar. He knew that the man was trying to figure out what to say. Then again, the young boy had only started saying things like that because of Rowena. He then looked away from Salazar and shrugged.

Salazar shook his head when he realized what the boy was doing. -You are too much like Rowena. She does that kind of thing all of the time.- He watched as Balthezar closed his eyes and lay his head against Salazar's side. Salazar shook his head again and picked the boy up. -It is getting late and you need to sleep.- Balthezar didn't respond, but only because he had fallen asleep.

End Flashback

Balthezar shook his head. He hadn't thought about that particular memory in a long time. In fact, he had stopped asking those questions after that day. He wasn't sure why, but he had. Balthezar then pushed those thoughts away and went back to looking at the sky. He watched as the stars twinkled above his head. He then sighed and looked away. The foreboding feeling that he had hadn't left. Turning around, he walked out of the clearing. 'I need to stop procrastinating and get ready.' He nodded after thinking those words. After all, he had many things that he had to do and he would do them.

A/N: Well, here we are, a little interlude before things start. Hope that you all enjoyed. Later.
