Thank you so much for your interest in the story and leaving a review! There was a lot of response on the latest chapter and that means so much to me! SO this is the final chapter of the story and I hope that you will enjoy this last chapter.

I have another Linstead story that has been on hiatus for quite some time now, but now that this story is finished I will try to pick that story up as soon as possible. I am ofcourse talking about Memories J

A few months later

Jay and Erin were on lunch break and were at the small coffee bar close to the district to get some coffee and cookies for themselves and for everybody else.

''So what are we going to eat for dinner tonight?'' She asked as they were sitting in a booth there, waiting for everything to ready and packed up in bags and he shrugged.

''I don't want to make dinner.'' He sighed then.

''We are like a real married couple now, bickering over who is going to make dinner.'' She smirked as they picked up the coffee and walked back towards the district then. They held hands and walked inside. Although people at first had had some problems with them being married and still working in the same unit, everybody seemed to be okay with it now. Some had needed some angry stares from Voight though. The only thing that had changed now that they were married was that Erin was now working with Atwater and Jay with Olinsky, because they weren't sure about being partners now that they were spouses.

Upstairs, everybody grabbed some coffee and cookies and they worked on the paperwork of the last case. They didn't have many days where there was not much going on but they really did enjoy that as they were so behind on paperwork – and even the rookies were no longer getting fooled into making it.

''it is relieving not to be running around with a case for once.'' Jay said and barely a second later Voight came running up the stairs, throwing files onto their desks.

''Halstead. Sometimes you just need to keep quiet.'' Olinsky sighed then and Erin just gave him a smile as they started working the case.

''Guy suspected of a big drugs trafficking.'' Voight as he put the picture on the whiteboard and looked back at them. ''Not an urgent case yet but it could be and I want to have this solved before somebody had to die and it gets urgent. ''

''We could go there now.'' Erin said.

''no, He might flee if we do something now. I say we keep a low profile and only keep an eye on him for a few days.'' Jay said then and Erin looked at him a bit disappointed.

''Okay, Antonio and Adam, you are posting at his house tonight. The other's, you remain on call tonight.''

They all nodded and worked on with the case and the other paperwork until most of them left for home and Erin and Jay sat in the car home then.

''I hope you are not angry cause I shot your theory down.'' He said then as she had looked so disappointed.

''No, of course not.'' She smiled at him then and he nodded then.

''Look it is work and we have to stay objective there even now we are married. That includes sometimes saying no or shooting each other's ideas down – why are do you have that cheeky smile on your face Jay Halstead!''

''Who gets inside last has to cook dinner.'' He smirked then and both of them almost threw off the seatbelts, running inside, both holding they key and they almost ran up against the elderly lady that lived next door.

''Mr Halstead?'' He asked then and Jay stopped to smile at her, Erin running into their apartment and cheering. ''A lamp in my apartment is broken and it's too high for me to change it out…would you maybe be able to help me out?''

''Ofcourse.'' He said as he followed her inside and helped her fix the lamp and walk back into the apartment, Erin throwing the apron his way and was laughing.

''That is not fair, I just helped miss Thornes.'' He said as he threw the apron back at her.

''Sure, sure….let's order food.'' She smiled then as she kissed him and they ordered sushi. They did the laundry together and cleaned up a bit until the sushi arrived and they sat down by the table, enjoying dinner. Although they didn't really had to talk through the day as they were working together, it was still great to have dinner together. After dinner they watched the news together and sitting together on the couch like that really made them feel like a married couple. But they were loving it and after the news he got up, retuning in his running clothes and shoes and grabbing the car keys.

''What are you going to do?'' She asked then as she saw he was going on a run but wasn't sure why he needed the car keys for that.

''I am going for a run and drive somewhere to go running since I have had enough of this neighborhood.'' He smiled then and at first she wanted to offer to come along but also knew that the running was his alone time Especially because they were working together, they sometimes needed some time apart. For her it was her work-out in the gym in the morning and for him it were his runs in the evening. It was one way to have their marriage work out well by also spending time apart. Everybody had warned them that it would be hard to work out as a couple because they had struggled with working and living together but now that they also gave each other time apart, it was working out.

She laid on the couch, reading a book that Antonio had given her since he had thought it was a great book and didn't even hear Jay come back in a bit later, slumping down on the couch, getting his running shoes off.

''I am back.'' he smiled at her.

''I can see that. And smell that.''

''I will get to shower in a bit.'' He said as he was just drinking some water and she smiled.

''Yeah, it's fine. How was the run?''

''Good, I drove to the lake and ran around on the boardwalk. It was good. Almost running as far as before again.'' He smiled proud and she kissed him.

''In the weekend we should go on a run together again.''

''Sounds great.'' He answered then and nodded again and she smirked then.

''You really have to shower now, you smell terrible.''

He got up then and smiled.

''Don't want to come along to the shower?''

''Nah, come back when you are fresh and good smelling.'' She smiled as he walked away and she got back to her book. A bit later he sat down on the couch again as well and laid his arm around her.

''You are smelling good again.''

''Oh I always am!'' he smirked as they shared a kiss again and he laid against her. She caressed him over his hair and they smiled at each other. The last few months that they had been so happy together and their thoughts barely still went back to all the bad times they had had before getting married. All they had and needed now was the happiness and the happiness was brought to them by each other.

NOTE: Jay and Erin are still working together trying to work it out with their marriage but everything seems to be going pretty well with that. They are not partners anymore just because it seems better for the unit but other than they are so happy with everything and enjoying living together.

Up next: The last chapter of the story with them trying to work together while also being a happy married couple!

Thank you so much for reading another and the last chapter and I am glad you still got back for this story. Little sad that this story is done but I hoped you enjoyed it and I promise to start up either a new Linstead story or continue with Memories, which ever you prefer.
