Yeah, I FINALLY UPDATED! Phew. My school had the brilliant idea to buy iPads for us all for the year in an attempt to "lighten up our bookbags and use less paper." Yesterday my bookbag was so heavy my dad cound't lift it. Yep. Soooooo yeah, you guys will have to get used to this updating schedule now I'm sad to say. As long as you guys continue to read I'll try my best to go faster.
(Luka's POV)
"No matter what you say, I won't face Gakupo in this damn show!" I yell and cross my arms. "No matter what you say I'm not doing it!"
"Luka…" Yuu says, the clear distress in her voice overbearing. "You have to understand that everyone in Crypton Futures is depending on you! They are people with families! Hiyama Kiyoteru is an extremely powerful business man. He will buy us all out of business and either make us join his Internet Company or leave us jobless!"
I raise my legs up to my chest and hug them against my body tightly. "My father is powerful in the business world too! I bet his stock could overpower them!"
Yuu sighs and wrings her hands in a nervous fashion. "Look Luka, that isn't how it works dear. This is different. We just need to try our very best to keep our heads up and do this."
My inner rich brat is about to burst right out of me. Whenever I wanted something, all I ever had to do was ask. If I wanted a pony, I'd get it. If I wanted a new video game console, I'd get it. If I wanted a dance studio, I'd get it. No questions were ever asked. Here, this real world far away from my comfortable home was different. I'd have to work if I wanted anything. I couldn't beg.
"Luka, you don't even have to sing most of this! Miku is the main!" Yuu says as she waves the paper with her neat and precise notes on it. "It's called 'Decorator'. Trust me it's fun to sing and dance to! You love dancing don't you?!"
"Yeah, I like dancing…" I mumble and bring my knees closer so that I can rest my headache-ridden head. "And singing…"
"If anything is bothering you, you could always tell me." Yuu says as she gives me her loving-puppy eyes. "I'm here for you. We all are."
"I know, I know." I say, "You aren't my therapist you know. I had one when I was little, I don't need another one. I'm older now. I can handle myself."
"I didn't mean it like that!" Yuu says rather quietly. "I just want you to be alright."
"I understand." I lie. She obviously didn't. If she did indeed care for me she'd be quiet about it. "Let's move onto the song…"
(Kaito's POV)
I sit nonchalant on my couch; twirling Akaito's scarf around my fingers. I decided to stay home instead of going to Vocaloid practice today. I had Carly as my spy on my parents. She promised that if they ever had a spare moment she'd tell them to talk to me.
That was two hours ago.
At least I have a laptop right? As much as it burned my bare legs as it sat on my lap, I kept it there. I'm reading up on everything about Vocaloid gossip. Trust me, it isn't exactly good.
The links under my Google page are:
MusicTV: Hidden Homos in new rising band "Vocaloid"?!
Critics Today: "Vocaloid is just another teen girl band".
Internet Co HOME: Intrenet Company declaims war with Vocaloid!
Whoa wait what?! "What the hell is this…?" I mumble to myself click it without a second thought. War with that wanna-be band Gakupo joined?
After clicking away more than about fifteen ads I finally got to the giant long paragraph that was so hideously written it made me wince the first time I read it. You'd think Hiyama Kiyoteru was rich enough to hire a writer with…what's the word? Oh right, talent.
Get ready for the band war of eons! We (*insert comma here*) Internet Company are going to have a big competition with our arch nemmines (Seriously…?), the band Vocaloid! Our singers will go ta head with them in a war so big it'll blow everyone in Nippon 'way!
Carly could write better than that in full Kanji. And she hasn't lived here that long. I'm pretty sure that says something.
I continued to skim down the page, praying to any god around me it would stop. My wish was obviously fulfilled, seeing how it wasn't actually that long. Sadly for me and probably a lot of other people, that wasn't the end of it. At the bottom was a video uploaded via NicoNico video and had a rather cute girl on it. I clicked it and prepared myself for the worst.
"Hello!" The cute Lolita-like girl said, her big brown eyes blinking innocently at the camera. "My name is Kokone, the lead singer of Internet Co.! My Otou-san, Hiyama Kiyoteru, is the manger and owner of Internet Company. We recently sent a letter to our friends at Crypton Futures asking for a friendly competition between our singing team and theirs, known as Vocaloid."
The way this Kokone girl talked sounded irregular, like she was reading off a card. Also basically everything she said contradicted everything else on the site. What the hell is all this?!
"Anyway," Kokone continued as I unpaused the video, "Everyone is invited to see us sing together at the Tokyo Dome City Hall on March 8th! It'll be an amazing thing to see, so I hope you all see us perform together and have fun! Tickets go on sale as soon as possible! Keep a look out!"
With that the video asked if I wanted to replay, and I close my laptop. March 8th? That was in less than a month! I quickly stand up and put my laptop down back on my white couch. I needed to go now!
"Kaito! I got them! They're coming!"
Carly came racing towards me, and I froze in my place. I couldn't believe my ears. No way. I turn slowly and saw them.
Mommy was restlessly playing with her Bluetooth and Daddy was looking rather irritated. "What is it son?" Dad asked, his voice sounding as annoyed as he looked.
"D-Daddy…" I say very quietly. So quietly that I barely hear it myself. "You're actually talking to me…"
"Yeah, we are sweetie. Now come on, make it quick." Mommy says, "Now hurry up and tell us."
No words could form out of my mouth. The only thing I could make out were sobs of happiness.
