"From Washington D.C. Representing the Shield, Haley" Lillian Garcia announced. Rosa was standing across the ring form her as the bell rang and Haley and Rosa locked up in the centre of the ring. Haley threw Rosa across the ring then smirked as Rosa got back to her feet then hit a dropkick which knocked Rosa down in the corner. Haley got some momentum behind her and front flipped onto Rosa in the corner and then pulled her to the middle of the ring to get a 2 count.
"Get up Rosa" Haley snapped and slapped Rosa around until the woman got to her feet and started fighting back. Haley kicked her in the gut and then hit her finisher but before she could go for the pin the lights went out and the Wyatts theme played. When the light came back on everyone saw Eva standing over Haley who was out cold.
"Sister Abigail is here to stay" Eva told her then Smackdown cut to commercial.
Backstage (Onscreen)
"Haley, can I have a word with you?" Renee Young asked as she followed Haley down a hallway. Haley turned to the young woman.
"What? You gonna ask me what that was? You wanna ask how I feel about it?" Haley snapped. "I just got blindsided by a rookie, a rookie whose ass I'm gonna kick. I have no idea why Eva just did that, but if she wants a war with me she's gonna get it" Haley told her then continued walking.
(Offscreen)
"I can't believe you asked me to be part of this storyline" Eva said in excitement.
"I have faith in you. But you need to prove to me that I made the right decision or else they're going to replace you with my back-up choice which was AJ. AJ is crazy enough to do the job and play the part but right now she's in a war against the Total Divas, I picked you because you're a fresh face and nobody knows what to expect or what you can do. You're the wild card in this but you need to learn mic skills and fast" Haley told her then headed to her locker room to get back into her Shield gear for the guys match.
"I'm trusting that Eva can do this. With a little training she should be okay" Haley said.
Smackdown: Wyatt Family promo
The Shield stood centre of the ring and all four looked pissed, that's when the Wyatts theme played and the arena went dark. The titantron lit up a little as it showed the Wyatts and Eva Marie.
"I admire your courage. Surely normal men would lose sleep at just the mere thought of facing reapers with war and justice, that's hells game there. I dig it" Bray Wyatt began. "I like games too. War, ooh that's my favourite" he chuckled. "My soul smiles at just the thought of your quivering hands waving those white flags high in the air" Bray smiled.
"You reap what you sew. You three boys picked a beautiful hill to die on" Luke Harper told them.
"Be careful inviting the Devil in your backyard, coz he may just like it an decide to stay" Bray chuckled.
"Run" Erick Rowan told them with the sheep's mask on. The lights came back on as the titantron showed the four in the ring who were discussing what was just said.
"You've gotta believe that with Eva joining the Wyatts and Haley part of the Shield, the match at Elimination Chamber could very well end up being an eight-person mixed tag match" Michael Cole acknowledged.
"Haley wasn't too happy earlier when she was attacked by Eva Marie" JBL said.
"Well would you be if you were attacked by someone?" Michael Cole asked.
"No" JBL replied.
OFFSCREEN
Wednesday morning hit and Haley was already waiting at the gym for Eva and Summer who were training with her today. She was planning on showing the two women a few things that would help them out, especially Eva who needed to be good so the feud wouldn't be botched.
"You're late" Haley said as Eva and Summer walked into the room.
"First day of training and these girls are late" Haley grumbled.
"Sorry, there was traffic" Summer apologised.
"Just hurry up and get in the ring" Haley told them and waited by the ropes. The two women got into the ring and Haley instantly started showing them some moves in which Eva was a little slow to learn but Summer was gloating whenever she got it right.
"You need to make the submission look tighter" Summer pointed out as Eva held Haley in a camel clutch.
"I don't want to hurt you" Eva said.
"It's fine just" Haley started. "Get off for a second" Haley told her and Eva got up and offered her hand to Haley who took it and stood. "Summer, on the ground. Eva in camel clutch" Haley told her. The women did as they were told and Haley adjusted Eva's hands so the submission looked painful but Summer wasn't getting hurt. "Now try from the beginning" Haley said and Eva got off Summer and took a few steps back before getting back into the position but accidently pulled Summer's hair and she yelped.
"Be careful" Summer snapped and Eva apologised but Summer stood up and moved aside. "Work on it with Haley" Summer told her and Haley sighed.
"You've got to be kidding me? A little hair pull? Roman doesn't even whine about that and look at his hair."
"If you're going to be a wimp about having your hair pulled then leave, I've had chunks of my hair torn out by the likes of Mickie James and Melina who knew what they were doing but misjudged. There's going to be accidents like that in this business, heck Nikki had a tooth kicked out by Tamina who lives and breathes this business" Haley told her. Summer looked at her feet then laid back on the ground for Eva to practice.
"Go again?" Eva asked and Haley nodded. Eva tried the submission again but again it looked too loose.
"Tighter" Haley told her and Eva pulled back perfectly. "Perfect" Haley smiled and Eva got up.
"What's next?" Eva asked.
"Run the ropes, I want to see how well you sell moves on the fly" Haley said then whipped Eva to the ropes and hit a clothesline which was sold well. Then Haley ran after Eva and did Dean Ambrose's signature knee to the gut which winded Eva.
"Ow" she gasped.
"Your butt is meant to go through the ropes a little further or that'll happen in the ring. Jon never slows up, he'll hit full force and expect you to be far enough back not to hurt. I'm the same, I don't wait for you to fix yourself you have to be ready at all times" Haley told her and she nodded. "Sit for a minute and catch your breath then we'll try again" Haley said then turned to Summer. "Your turn" Haley smiled and Summer ran at the ropes and Haley followed but Summer was far enough back that there was no connection between Haley's knee and Summer's gut.
"No pain" Summer smirked at Eva.
"Hey, you two are going to be partners after the feud with Wyatts and Shield so play nice" Haley warned.
"These two are impossible, there is no way that their tag team will even make it to the screen if they keep this up."
"Go again" Eva said and ran the ropes. She was slowly improving.
"Mic skills. Here's a few tips; mean what you say, you have to feel it. Never bring up personal lives unless it has been previously discussed and agreed upon. Finally, never repeat the same thing over and over, it becomes boring" Haley told them.
Three hours later the three walked out of the training facility and headed to their houses.
"Hey" Jon smiled as he turned on the couch to see her.
"Hi" she said and closed the door before flopping onto the couch.
"Bad morning?" he asked as she laid her head back on his lap.
"Yeah" she replied. "Eva's scared she's going to hurt someone and Summer's just a pain in the ass. She likes to rub it in Eva's face when she can do something that Eva can't" Haley explained.
"Women" he shook his head as he smiled and Haley hit him on the arm causing him to chuckle. "What were you like when you were training?" he asked.
FLASHBACK
Haley stood in the ring that was set up in her brother's garage waiting for her new trainer to show up. Her brother had gotten way too frustrated with her and someone backstage had offered his help. Haley's eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw Eddie Guerrero walking up to her.
"E-E-Eddie?" she stuttered. She had a major crush on him back then.
"Hey Chica, ready to wrestle?" he asked with a smile. She nodded and waited for him to enter the ring, Dave stood at ringside and watched as Eddie showed her how to do a few moves. She already knew the basics but now she was learning things to set her apart. Every time she got something right she would smile and squeal like a little girl who was spoilt enough to get a pony for Christmas.
END FLASHBACK
"I wasn't too bad" Haley lied with an innocent grin.
"I don't believe that for a second" Jon said.
"Okay so Eddie taught me, along with-"
"Evolution" Jon finished and she looked at him confused.
"How did you know?" she asked.
"I've read your Wikipedia page" he told her and she smiled.
"Well anyway, I may or may not have had a huge crush on Eddie when he started training me so I was being a bit of a show-off" she said with smile and Jon shook his head.
"You little fangirl" he teased.
"I fangirled over you when I first saw you" Haley admitted and he was confused this time.
"Really?" he asked.
"Yeah, when you had your tryout at TNA" she told him.
"So Jon and I met each other a while back in 2008 when he was still known as Jon Moxley, although we didn't technically meet until Layla introduced us in 2011 when the Shield formed."
FLASHBACK
Haley stood backstage with Jamie and Ashley, better known on-screen as Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne. Haley was blonde at the time and was also the TNA Knockout's champion in her second reign and in a feud with Angelina Love. She and her friends watched the monitor as TNA's newest recruit faced off against a guy that called himself Jon Moxley who was having his second tryout match, Haley had missed the first because it had been directly after her match and she'd been in her locker room getting ready to head to Jess' adoptive parents' house to see the three year old but this time she watched on. A few others around the locker room said he was good, but as Haley watched him in the ring she smiled. He was great, not bad on the eyes either.
"Haley, hello? You paying attention?" Jamie waved her hand in front of Haley's face and she snapped out of it and turned to her friends.
"What?" she asked and the two women laughed.
"You totally have the hots for Moxley" Ashley said between giggles.
"I do not" Haley said as she fidgeted with the title around her waist.
"You so do. I hope you don't mess up your promo thinking about Jon" Jamie giggled which earned her a punch in the arm.
"Shut it" Haley warned. They heard the bell ring over the monitor and looked to the screen, Jon had won the match. He walked backstage sweaty and smiling and smiled at the three women gawking at him.
"Hi" he said and Ashley and Jamie looked to Haley who smiled at him.
"Hi, you were pretty good out there" she told him.
"Thanks" he said with a smile and headed off to the showers leaving a blushing Haley behind.
END FLASHBACK
"You were the blonde chick?" Jon asked.
"Yeah" Haley blushed. "And I actually did muddle up my promo" she admitted with a giggle.
"So you had a crush on me before I had a crush on you?" he asked.
"I guess so" she told him and he smiled before it went quiet for a few minutes.
"I can't believe you were blonde" Jon chuckled.
"That's what you take from that story?" Haley asked as she sat up on the couch.
"No, you had a little crush on me too" he smirked and Haley shook her head at him.
"I'm glad you didn't get the job in TNA" Haley said seriously.
"Why's that?" he asked.
"Because we might not have dated if you'd been in TNA, I left in 2010 and the tryout was in November '08" Haley explained. "Besides, I was career focussed back then. I only dated one guy over the three years I was there" Haley told him.
"Who?' he asked.
"Patrick Martin, better known as Alex Shelley" she replied. "I think it was the two-tone hair" she said.
"Do I have competition that I should know about?" Jon asked.
"No, no. I wouldn't date Colby, not that he isn't a great guy but I like crazy guys" she told him and he smiled before leaning down to kiss her.
"Good" he said.
The next day Haley was training Eva again but this time she brought Jon, Jess and her brother along.
"So today I'm helping out Eva again but this time I brought along a few people to be the audience and maybe even lend a helping hand."
"You're early" Haley smiled as she saw Eva stretching on the mat outside the ring.
"I decided to leave home a little earlier than usual so I wasn't late this time" Eva told her.
"Thank you" Haley smiled and slid into the ring with Eva right behind her.
"So today we're going to be doing promo practice. You need to think on your feet and make it interesting" Haley told her and Eva nodded.
"The feud with the Wyatts is going to be a lot of talking in riddles from the Wyatts and intimidation while the Shield will be plain and simple. You need to be able to say things that would get under peoples' skin but not hurt off-screen Haley" Jon told Eva as he leant on the apron. Jess sat on a chair on the outside of the ring while Dave stood next to Jon.
"A good promo has good character. Bray is mysterious and so his promos seem creepy and threatening. If let's say, Stacy Keibler were to try and make a threatening promo it wouldn't work because she's eye candy" Dave explained.
"But if it were Lita with a threatening promo I think a lot of women would crap their pants" Haley smiled.
"Okay, so I have to seem creepy?" Eva asked.
"Intimidating" Haley corrected. "Not tough but intimidating" Haley told her.
"Okay" Eva said.
"Please don't let her suck."
"Haley, on Friday night I was the stronger woman. You think you're so tough because you're with the Shield? What happens when they fall? You won't have your bodyguards anymore. When they fall, you will fall" Eva said and Haley nodded.
"Nice, that was actually pretty good. I like it" Haley smiled.
"So round one and she's already got it. I'm impressed."
"Eva, oh little Eva" Jon said as he jumped up on the apron. "The Shield won't be the one to fall. You've chosen the losing side and when you fall, the Wyatts won't be there to catch you. Because they're only using you" Jon continued as he got into the ring and hovered over Eva. Eva looked to Haley.
"Keep going, he's giving you a practice promo" Haley told her and Eva turned back to the man hovering over her.
"Using me?" Eva chuckled. "If anyone's using anyone it's the Shield using Haley, she's the toughest out of the team. That's why when I take her down, I'll take down the Shield" Eva told him. They were nose-to-chin and Jon chuckled.
"That was okay, not good but okay. There could be a little improvement" Dave said from ringside and then got into the ring and stood beside his sister.
"Remember each of our nicknames; Seth's the architect, Dean's the eccentric one, Roman's the muscle and I'm…" Haley couldn't think.
"The energy, she keeps us motivated" Jon smiled, not taking his eyes off Haley who smiled at him and Dave cleared his throat.
"The daredevil" Dave argued.
"I'm no daredevil Dave" Haley told her brother.
"Well I don't want to hear on TV that you keep the guys motivated" Dave snapped.
"Enough" she yelled. "God, I'm so sick of this" Haley told her brother. No one noticed Jess slide under the ropes.
"Uncle Dave, I like Jon. I don't know why you're so mean to him" Jess said, folding her arms across her chest as she stood in front of him.
"Because he…" Dave couldn't argue with an eight year old, especially not with his niece.
"Scared of a little girl?" Haley asked. Dave looked up.
"No, I just know better than to argue with an eight year old" Dave told her.
"Thanks kiddo" Jon smiled at Jess.
"When are you going to marry my Mum?" Jess asked. Haley's eyes widened, Dave looked furious, Eva coughed out the water she had been drinking and Jon looked at Jess in shock.
"I can't believe my daughter just suggested marriage. I love Jon and if he asked tomorrow I would most likely say yes but there's no way we're ready for that yet."
"Jessica Raye Bautista" Haley said.
"What?" Jess asked her mother. "He loves you and you love him" she said.
"It's not that simple" Haley argued.
"Yes it is" Jess said.
"Now who's arguing with an eight year old?" Dave smirked and Haley shook her head.
"There's lots of different factors going into a marriage; will it last? Can you afford a wedding? Do you want the same things?" Haley told her daughter.
"Do you?" Jess asked and Haley looked to Jon.
"I love him very much but…" Haley sighed.
"But what?" Jess asked.
"Marriage is a big step, one that your Mum and I aren't ready for yet" Jon finished for Haley who smiled at him.
"Are you saying you would?" she asked.
"Wouldn't you?" he returned and Haley smiled.
"You two are so cute" Eva told them.
