Chapter Fifty-One
*Renesmee's POV*
My body tensed as the three brothers approached the area along with a few guards. My parents instantly stood in front of Lizzy and I, while Jacob wrapped his arms around me. I was healed, but I still felt a little dizzy. I almost died, so I could use the support from Jake.
I looked to see most of the parents were now in front of us, ready to attack if necessary. My stomach was in knots. I thought we were going to make it out, I guess not...
Aro glided out first with his brothers following close behind. His eyes watching all of us carefully. I thought he was going to say something to one of us, but what surprised me was when he took a different route.
The first the Aro and the brothers approached was Serena. Aro stood right in front and looked down at her with his blazing red eyes, "Dear, Serena. I told you to bring back someone else, not Lorenzo. He disobeyed me, just like you. You know what the price will be for your selfish deeds."
"I don't care. Do what you will with me. I accept my fate," Serena spat at the brothers. "You've ruined my life already. You ruined Lorenzo's. You'll ruin the Cullen's. What's the point? I have nothing left to live for! I'm not helping your cause at all. You're the failure in the end, Aro."
"Fine, dear. I don't think you realize you are going to be apart of this anyway," Aro replied sincerely. He then picked up the discarded knife Serena used to slash me before. He took a few moments to look at it. That's when he thrusted it straight into her abdomen. The moment he did that, Serena's eyes widened and she gasped before hitting the floor.
Jacob and I curled into one another while the screams of Maysun, Jen, and Nahuel filled the air.
"Serena!" Maysun cried out as Jackson held her back. She was tough though. Maysun was able to escape his grasp with ease before running to her sister's body. Maysun knelt down and cupped Serena's face in her hands, hoping to cling to any life left in her sister. Jen and Nahuel followed as they approached Serena.
We all watched from a distance as the family weeped over their sister's body.
"Serena, stay with us," Jen begged her sister. "Please."
"No," Serena wheezed out as the blood began to gush from her wound. Nahuel was now placing his hands over it to try to control it, but it wouldn't matter. The knife was enchanted to make blood flow faster. It wouldn't be long until she would bleed to death. "This is what was suppose to happen. I deserve this."
"No you don't. Please, Serena. Don't," Maysun whispered harshly as he hugged onto her sister for dear life.
"Lorenzo needs me. Now...Bring Abrianna over," Serena told them breathlessly."Please."
"Alice and Jasper's daughter?" Nahuel questioned, looking at the frightened little girl in her parents arms. "Why?"
"Because. Please. I need to. Please," Serena begged.
Nahuel looked at Alice with a pleading look. My aunt seemed to know something and carefully approached them.
"Alice?" Uncle Jasper questioned. "What are you-"
"Hold on Jasper. She needs to do this," My dad silenced him. I then watched as Alice put Abby down, who hugged tightly to her mother's legs.
"My dear Abrianna," Serena whispered, reaching out to the little girl. Abby seemed hesitant at first, but then approached the dying woman. She got close enough so Serena could stroke her cheek gently. "I am so sorry for everything that has happened to you. This was never my intention, darling. Just know that I loved you."
"What is she talking about?!" Jasper aggressively demanded, looking at his wife for an explanation.
"Abby is her daughter," My dad spoke up, his voice raw. I felt my eyes go wide as Abby looked at the woman again. The entire world seemed to stand still as we learned this piece of information.
I could tell Abby was scared, but her tiny hand reached out and grabbed her biological mother's. "I remember you," She whispered to her biological mother.
Serena showed a pained smile at her daughter as tears fell from her eyes. With that, Serena's eyes went still and so did her body. Her heart made one more beat and then it was gone, along with the rest of her blood that now pooled at the alter where mine was.
With the help of a Volturi witch, a new blue aura began to form. Alice picked up Abby and pulled her away from her biological mother while the Peterson siblings scampered away from the lifeless body of Serena.
Our attention was now focused on the new body that begun to form. First it was a spirt of a woman. She was beautiful, but the spirt soon became to form into a physical body. It grew flesh, hair, and all that stuff. I watched carefully as he limp naked body fell into the arms of a guard as he wrapped her in a towel. A new heart began to beat rapidly in my ears as the woman laid unconscious in the guard's arms.
"Now that's done, it's time to get down to business," Aro announced, smiling at us. "You have my children. I'd like them back please."
"Never!" Robert growled, stepping up before my father could say anything. "Never again! Leave us alone! We want nothing to do with you!"
"Oh, dear Robert. You shouldn't use that tone with me," Aro chided, frowning at the boy. "I get what I want, and I want my children-"
"Never!" Dru spat, getting into an attacked position. "You killed my mother, you killed Sylvia."
"Oh yes. Sylvia gave birth. You wouldn't want your new cousin, Wesley, to be left alone. Do you?" Aro mentioned with a smirk.
"No. Dru. Don't," Lucas warned as she seemed apprehensive. Dru frowned at Lucas and was about to say something, but Aro spoke again.
"Cordelia, my child, you wouldn't want to leave your father? The only home you've ever known?" Aro asked, looking at the girl now nestled into Robert's side.
Cordelia shook her head, "No, father. I won't. My home is with Robert, Dru, and my friends. Not with you. It's never been you."
"Well, I didn't want to do this but I'm going to have to take extra precautions," Aro sung, waving his hand at Jane, Alec, Felix, Dimitri, and a few other guards.
We all quickly got into a protective stance, ready to fight the Volturi, when of all people, Marcus steps up. He put a hand on Aro's shoulder and for the first time, I think I really heard him speak.
"Leave them, Aro. We got what we want. If they want to leave, let them. We can't stop them from leaving," Marcus told him. "Robert is my son and I will allow him to leave. Keeping your children here won't do us any good."
Aro frowned, looked at us, and then back at Marcus. "Fine, dear Marcus. You can let young master Robert go, but my daughters-"
"No. Aro. They will want to leave. Forcing them into our guard will not make weapons or whatever you hoped for. They will just rebel against us. It's best if they're in an environment they're safe in. Also, considering the fact, you did promise the Cullen family young Lucas and Robert in exchanged for Serena. Your daughters shall not be going anywhere without them. You know this, brother."
Aro knew his brother was right and looked at the rest of the Volturi children, "Fine. We'll do what you say. But, just so you all know, I will be back. You have three of my daughters with you."
"Three?" Dru questioned, looking around. "Cordelia and I are your only children, father."
"Yes, but, there is another. Thanks to dear Serena, we have little Abrianna," he mused, looking down at my cousin. "My daughter."
Jasper immediately pushed his wife and daughter behind him and narrowed his eyes at Aro, "She's our daughter now."
"Abrianna, don't you know your own father when you see him?" Aro crooned, bending down towards my little cousin. I felt my grip on Jacob tighten as I watched my cousin's eyes meet with his. Uncle Jasper and Aunt Alice immediately cut off contact. Aro looked a little angry because of this as he slowly got up, "Why Alice my dear...Jasper...You wouldn't do this to little Abrianna? After all, she has my blood running through her veins."
"You are not her father!" Aunt Alice seethed as she held Abby close to her. "You didn't love her! Take care of her when she was scared! Clean her! Feed her! You did nothing!"
"Dear Alice, don't provoke me. I could take her if I feel like it," Aro reprimanded her, motioning his hands towards the guards. I saw the fear in my aunt and uncle's eyes as they each got into a protective stance. Just then, the guard went to grab Uncle Jasper. He growled, pushing him back as an act to protect his family. Abby looked terrified as she sobbed into her mother's arms. Alice wanted to help Jasper, but right now she needed to protect the little girl in her grasp.
"Stop it! Please!" My mother cried out as she ran over to help them. "Don't do this!"
"She's just a little girl! She already watched her mother die, which is your own doing! She's been through enough!" Aunt Rosalie yelled at him, rushing to the scene with Uncle Emmett.
"This has gone far enough today. We're done here," My dad chimed in, stepping in front.
"He's right, you are taking this too far Aro," Tanya added as my dad and her represented our two covens.
"We will fight you for Abby. She's our family, not yours. Just like everyone else on this side," My mother said, looking towards Dru and Cordelia who looked horrified of what their father might do.
"Aro! Just like I said, enough," Marcus spoke up aggressively now. Aro bore his eyes at his co-leader before turning back to look at us.
"Alright. Fine, fine. We'll leave. But remember this, things are coming your way Cullen family. This isn't the last of us," Aro warned us ominously. "We will be back."
We then watched as the Volturi disappeared into the woods. Marcus was one of the last out and I watched the interaction between him and Robert.
"Thank you, Father," Robert whispered. Marcus just did a simple nod before he left all of us alone.
I looked over to Jacob and grinned brightly up at him, "So...We should really go on that date."
Jacob just chuckled and wrapped his arms tightly around me. I buried my face into his bare chest and took a sigh of relief. It was over. Serena was gone and so were the Volturi. It was time to be normal, mundane. Even if it would just be for a little bit, I felt a new sense of hope take over me.
I looked around and saw everyone celebrating. There were a lot of hugs and looks of relief on everyone's face. I felt my stomach drop though when I saw Alice and Jasper cradling Abby. They still loved her, obviously, but that's a complete shock. Aro? Serena? How did that happen?
I think I know how, unfortunately. I look towards Lizzy who's now settled on my father's hip while my mother is hugging him on his free side.
Me too. I told her, looking down at the ground. I then looked up at Jacob and planted a kiss on his lips before rushing over to my parents. My mother immediately enlaced me into a tight hug.
"I thought we were going to loose you, sweetheart. I was so worried," My mom whispered into my hair.
"We'll we're okay now. Once we get home, things will get better," I mumbled into her shoulder.
"Aren't I the one who's suppose to tell you that?" My mom mused, chuckling. I shrugged as I closed my eyes and held on tightly to my mother. When we pulled away, I then headed over to my father and wrapped my arms around his waist. I buried my face into his chest as he rubbed my back.
"I'm just glad you and your siblings are alright now, Angel," My dad mumbled into my hair.
"Me too, Dad. Me too," I told him. I looked over to see Robert now approaching Grace and Elaine with one of Aro's daughters glued to his side.
"So...Mom. Grace, this is Cordelia. She's my um..." Robert struggled for words as he blushed at this woman.
"I'm his mate," the woman told Elaine and Grace, shyly. "Cordy or Delia will do. I mean you can call me Cordelia, if you'd like. Anyway it's so nice to finally meet the both of you, Robert's told me so much about you both."
Grace chuckled as she looked at her older brother. Elaine looked a little shocked, but amused.
"Well, Cordelia. It's nice to meet you too," Elaine said, wrapping her arms around the girl in a hug. "Welcome to the family."
I smiled as I looked around at everyone. Lily and Aidan were being hugged by their parents, the Denali's were embracing each other, and Lucas was with Ethan. I then turned to see Maysun cradling the dead body of Serena in her arms. Jen stayed by her side and so did Nahuel.
Quietly, I approached them. "I'm sorry for your loss," I told them softly. Nahuel looked at me and nodded his head.
"Thanks, Ness," He told me. "But I think we all knew it was going to happen."
"Unfortunately," Jen added. Maysun nodded in agreement as she leant her head against Jen's shoulder. Jackson came over and then placed a gentle hand on Maysun's shoulder. I watched as the poor girl begin to crumble and sob over her deceased sister's body. Jen then gave Jackson a look that had him scooping Maysun into his arms. He began to hush her as he ushered her away from Serena's lifeless body.
"We can burry her. Somewhere nice, my family can take care of it all," I offered them.
Nahuel then shook his head. "You're not expected to. She tried to kill you. It's our family, we got it."
"Thank you for the offer, but I think there's a better way we should do this," Jen said, showing off a box of matches to Nahuel. He nodded and then looked at me with sorrow in his eyes.
"Thank you," I told him softly. "Both of you," I added, looking down at Jen. "For helping us. You're Cullen's now. We owe you."
"No. You don't," Nahuel said, shaking his head. "Really."
"Alright," I replied softly. I then left to give the family a moment alone and looked back at my family. Lizzy came bustling over to me and I smiled. I hugged her close to my side as we watched everyone.
"You were so brave," I told my little sister, kissing the top of her head. "I'm so proud of you, Liz."
Lizzy smiled and squeezed me extra tight around the waist. "I love you, Renesmee."
"I love you too, Lizzy."
From there, we all traveled back to the house. It didn't take too long and when we got there, the first thing I noticed was Masen leaning against the side of the house. He looked towards us and a big grin appeared on his face.
"Masen!" Grace cried out, running in a full speed dash at him before anyone else could react.
"Grace," Masen said her name like a prayer, a breath of relief. In the process my best friend then launched herself at my brother. Her legs wrapping around his waist as he held her tightly. The two then kissed passionately before hugging onto one another for dear life.
When they finally pulled away they both smiled at each other as Masen then turned to face us.
"Masen!" Lizzy squealed, charing at our brother next. I joined her as we both grabbed onto Masen, hugging the day lights out of him.
"Hey guys," Masen said, chuckling as he held on tightly to Lizzy. "Miss me?"
"Of course! I'm so glad that you're okay," I exclaimed, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Tears pricked my eyes. "We were all so worried."
"I'm fine now. Thanks to you guys," Masen said, smiling at all of us.
"You ever do that again, I'll freaking kill you myself," Lily spoke up, smacking him against the arm. "I thought I wasn't going to have a best friend anymore, jack ass."
Masen gave her an apologetic smile and Lily just rolled her eyes. She then wrapped her arms around Masen's form and gave him a huge hug.
"Like I said, I'll kill ya if you ever do that again," Lily muttered, pulling away from Masen. He chuckled as everyone then came to greet him.
"Guys! Everyone!" a new voice called out. Just now Zach came running outside.
"What is it, Zach? Is Ava okay?" Elaine asked worriedly.
"What's wrong with Aunt Ava?" Robert added frantically, coming over towards his mother.
"Robert! My boy!" Zach exclaimed, giving his nephew a bone crushing hug. "Good to see ya!"
"Uncle Zach!" Robert chuckled as the two men hugged. "Um, back to Aunt Ava though. Not that I don't want to enjoy this moment-"
"Right, right," Zach said. He then grinned and clapped his hands together, "It's a boy!"
"A boy!? Sweet!" Aidan exclaimed. "The Williams cousins are even now! Two girls and two boys! Holla!"
"Williams cousins? You guys are related?" Robert questioned, looking around for some answers. "I'm lost."
"We'll explain inside, big brother," Grace said, chuckling as she wrapped an arm around his form. "In the meantime, Robert, this is Masen. My boyfriend. Masen, this is Robert."
"Nice to finally meet you," Masen said, offering Robert a hand. I watched as Robert observed my brother carefully and then placed his hand into his.
"Nice to meet you too," Robert responded, grinning as the two boys finally got to meet one another. When they were finished, Elaine approached Grace and Masen.
"I'm sorry about my behavior and attitude towards the both of you, earlier," Elaine told them. "Masen, I honestly can't picture a better person to be my daughter's boyfriend. Thank you, for loving her. You and your family."
Masen smiled as Elaine then gave him and Grace a big group hug. When they all pulled apart, everyone seemed to have a bigger smile than before.
"Now, time to see my nephew," Elaine exclaimed happily, coming over towards Zach. "And Zach, I'm sorry as well for everything I have done to you."
"It's okay," He told her sincerely, giving her a side hug. "You made Ava really happy today, besides the baby. I'm glad this family is back together. I know how much is means to my wife, Grace, and myself as well."
Elaine smiled as she then followed her brother in-law into the house. I looked to see Grandpa Carlisle make his way outside with Grandma Esme attached to his side.
"Is everyone okay?" Grandpa Carlisle asked, looking around.
I sighed as I looked up at my grandfather, "Grandpa...A lot happened."
"I think we should go talk inside, dad," My father spoke up, placing a hand on Carlisle's shoulder. I could tell Carlisle couldn't help but feeling admiration, even in a time like this, being called dad, but he kept his composure as we all entered our home base.
We all the gathered around and everyone explained to Carlisle and Esme what happened after they left to help Ava with her birth. Elaine joined us again and so did Jackson. Maysun, Nahuel, and Jen were currently outside having a private funeral for their sister.
"I wonder who the young woman could be," Uncle Jasper mused as Aunt Alice leaned against him with Abby in between the two. "Why would does Aro need her?"
"I think I know why," Lucas spoke up, running a hand through his hair. He then looked towards Jackson who nodded in agreement. "There's word around our world about this witch Aro wanted to bring back..."
"What kind of witch?" Elaine questioned, raising her eyebrows.
"Meredith," Jackson spoke the name as if it was some sort of myth.
The moment her name was said, Elaine immediately sat down in a chair. Her face full of shock as Grace gently placed a hand on her shoulder in comfort.
"Who's Meredith?" Lily asked, looking for some sort of answer.
"Meredith is the daughter of an original. The world's first witch that is," Elaine breathed, a hand covering her mouth. "For some reason...I just thought...She died? Am I correct?"
"She should've," Lucas muttered. "She did die. That was centuries ago..."
"There are originals?" I questioned curiously. My grandfather nodded as he pulled my grandmother towards his side.
"Of course. I don't know many of the origins due to the fact what I've heard about them is very brief."
"Not much is known about them," Eleazar explained. "Only oral stories that have been passed between other supernatural beings. According to legend, there are three originals. Jeremiah, Noah, and Stephenie. One is a vampire, one is a child of the moon, and another is a witch. I don't know exactly how they came to be, there's so many stories formed around them, but we all originate from them. Meredith just happens to be a special witch."
"It's said she's part angel," Lucas explained. "Meredith is the daughter of Stephenie and an angel. She's also...She's the creator of the Lux Lamia."
"Really?" Masen breathed. Ethan nodded in agreement.
"I've heard stories about this too from the Leonardos, but I deemed it untrue for so long..."
"Well, I don't think it is. Aro just resurrected her and god knows what he's planning to do," Lucas muttered, rubbing his temples. "The only two who could help us would be Meredith's children."
"Who are?" Uncle Emmett asked, looking for answers just like the other clueless members of this conversation.
"The first Lux Lamia," Ethan breathed. We all looked at one another with a bit of shock.
"So, I guess we really aren't done here. Are we?" Lily mused.
"Here, yes. But will there be other things coming for us in the near future, yes," Grandpa said. "This isn't the end. We won this battle, but there is a lot more coming for us. This is not over."
Later that night, after saying goodnight to my family, I headed to the bedroom I'd be sharing with Jacob. When I got in there he was dressed down into a pair of pajama bottoms and nothing else. I smirked as I took a seat on the bed as he finished up.
"So...That chapter of our lives is over," I mused as he sat down in the bed next to me.
"Yeah," He agreed. Jacob sighed and leaned his head against my shoulder. I stroked his hair as I cradled him close to my body. This prompt him to rest his head in the middle of my chest. He closed his eyes and instantly calmed after that. I began to run my fingers through his hair while placing a kiss on the top of his head.
"Are you okay?" I asked quietly, breaking the silence between us.
"Nothing. I just...I just don't want to...I almost lost you," He muttered. I sighed as he lifted his head up to look at me. His brown puppy dog eyes looking straight into mine.
"I'm sorry. But, what happened, happened. I love you, and I meant it when I'm not going anywhere," I told him. "When we get back, how about that date?"
"A date?" He mused, a grin appearing on his face as he laid on his side so we were facing each other. "What did you have in mind, Miss Renesmee?"
"I don't know. Anything. We keep day dreaming of going on a real one, so that's why when we get home we'll go on one. Just me and you," I told him, a big grin on my face.
"I'd like that very much," He said, leaning over to kiss my lips. I smiled as we pulled away.
"We should get to bed. It's been a long day and I could use some shut eye," I announced, turning off the light. I then got settled into the bed with Jacob by my side.
"I love you too, by the way," He added quietly in the midst of the night. I chuckled as I then rolled over to I was snuggled against his chest. He then wrapped his arms tightly around me and we both fell fast asleep.
A/N: Surprise! Here's another update. I just really want to get this story done, so here ya guys go. Hope you enjoyed!
