"God, that plane ride was bloody fantastic!" Eridan exclaimed for the millionth time as Sollux slid their card key through the lock of their hotel door before pushing it open.
"So you've mentioned. It wasn't that stellar, Eridan," Sollux informed with a roll of his eyes as he kicked the door open as wide as he could, giving Eridan enough room for his shit.
He had brought, like, four suitcases. Four. Eridan didn't even show up at Sollux's doorstep with four suitcases. Where he'd gotten all of his shit with his "limited funds" was beyond Sollux, and why he felt the need to bring it all was also astounding. Sollux had one suitcase, and his laptop case. Meanwhile, one of Eridan's smaller suitcases was dedicated strictly to his bathroom shit. Sollux had his toothbrush in a plastic baggy.
"Sol, do you have a fear of every vehicle that moves?" Eridan asked, strolling through the door with two of his suitcases and a smile. Sollux struggled his way behind him, holding two more of Eridan's bags, along with his own and his laptop case. How the fuck did he become the bag boy.
"No. I just don't see why people can't walk places."
"You would have preferred to walk to Florida, Sol?" Eridan laughed. "Anyways, I'm still amazed that you love walkin' places, bein' a lazy shit and all."
"I'm not that lazy," Sollux lied, throwing all of Eridan's shit down on the floor. Eridan hardly noticed, rolling his eyes.
"Sollux Captor, you spent fifteen and a half hours straight layin' in bed and playin' Robot Unicorn Attack 2."
"No way was it fifteen and a half hours, you dramatic fuck."
"Sol! I left in the mornin', went to class, went swimmin', came home to shower, left to go to the gym, came home to shower, left to go to the library-"
"Came home to shower," Sollux interrupted with a snicker and a smile. Eridan narrowed his eyes.
"Comin' from the guy who laid in bed and didn't shower once. I only showered three times that day, thank you. Anyways, that's not the point. Point is that you were still playin' that stupid game when I went to bed. That dumb music is still playin' in my head," he complained, setting his bags down gently before walking over to a mirror to fix his hair. Sollux sighed, shaking his head.
"Yeah, I agree. The music definitely wasn't as good as it was in the first Robot Unicorn Attack," he muttered in disappointment. "I've still got the original song on my I-pod."
Eridan groaned.
"Holy shit, you are such a fuckin' dork."
Sollux rolled his eyes, ignoring the other as he finally looked around and took in their room. Damn, it was classy. How did Eridan afford this shit? Sollux had informed Eridan before they left that they didn't have enough money to just disappear for three weeks, but Eridan said he'd take care of it. The only thing that Eridan had been worried about was Crowley. Sollux arranged for Nepeta to take care of the growing kitten, though, putting Eridan at ease.
Anyhow, Sollux expected to be living simply, not that he would have minded. His original family had lived just a little lower than the middle class families did, even lower when he lost his mom. It was Eridan that he was worried about, staying in a shabby and cheap hotel room for a while. He was a spoiled princess, after all. This was anything but shabby, though. In fact, he'd never been in a room this classy. There was a fucking fish tank in the wall!
"Eridan, this place is extremely high class," Sollux informed suspiciously, walking and looking around. He walked passed their bed and into the bathroom, flipping on the light and raising his eyebrows. Holy God. It was bigger than his bedroom back home.
"Of course it is," Eridan replied, already unpacking his stuff and putting things away. "You think I'm gonna' go cheap when we're spendin' time alone together? I don't think so."
"Yeah, but, where the hell did you get this kind of money? I was a little suspicious when we flew here in first class as it was-"
Eridan appeared next to Sollux suddenly, eyes wide in what looked like offense. Sollux immediately regretted speaking, his mouth snapping shut. Fuck. Did Eridan think that Sollux was accusing him of joining the mob again, after Sollux had asked him not to? He knew that Eridan would be pissed to hell and back if that was the case. That is not how Sollux wanted to begin this vacation. He couldn't deny that he was a little scared when Eridan parted his lips to reply.
"Are you suggestin' that I would have actually flown coach? With all of those dirty people? God, Sol!" he exclaimed in disgust, turning around and shaking his head. Sollux immediately relaxed, rolling his eyes. Jesus Christ. Why was he dating this guy, again?
"Alright, alright, fine. But, seriously, where did you get this kind of money? I thought that you were struggling just trying to pay for school," Sollux said, flipping the bathroom light off as he walked back out into their room. Eridan had returned to putting his clothes away, shrugging as he did so.
"I transferred money from Cronus's bank account into my own," he informed casually. Sollux's eyebrows shot up.
"Seriously?"
"Yup. It wasn't that hard to figure out that his password was DannyZuko#1."
Sollux almost laughed.
"Why didn't you take money from him before?" he asked, plopping down on the ridiculously comfortable bed as he watched Eridan unpack. Eridan shrugged again.
"He was in town, and I didn't want to deal with it when he figured it out."
"You're still going to have to deal with it when we get back."
"Yeah, well, that's later and this is now. I just want to spend a fun, relaxin' vacation with you, Sol. Is that so bad?" he asked with a stressed sigh, turning around and crossing his arms. Sollux sighed as well.
He knew that Eridan was scared that the stressful situation back home would force them further and further apart, and he knew that Eridan just wanted some alone time with Sollux for a while. Sollux understood that. He'd just wanted to escape for a while now, too. Granted, leaving his parents and his brother for a while may not be greeted with heavy welcome when he returned home, but he'd deal with that then. Also, Karkat was going to shit a brick, but Sollux had a way of dealing with his best friend. He just hoped that this vacation was everything that Eridan wanted it to be.
"No, that's not so bad," he admitted.
Eridan smiled slightly. He uncrossed his arms and dropped the scarf that he was holding, crossing the room and making his way over to his boyfriend. He sat down next to Sollux, their legs pressed against each other's as Eridan sat as close as possible to the Gemini. He reached down, gently dragging his fingers over Sollux's side.
"How are you doin'?" he asked softly, looking up into Sollux's eyes. Sollux shrugged gently.
"I'm fine. Hardly any pain," he lied. He felt as though he was bruised from the inside out. His pain medication helped with that, though. His tolerance for pain wasn't bad in the current situation, either.
"And your head? Do you remember anythin'? he asked. Sollux looked away.
Fragments of memories had been returning to him. He could smell oranges at the weirdest times, and he remembered the harsh slicing of a cold wind on his cheeks. The memory that stood out the most was a pair of the biggest, most vibrant green eyes that he had ever seen. Green, against a cotton ball white. He didn't know what it meant, though, and he didn't want to worry Eridan with his nonsense.
"No, I don't remember anything. It's fine though, alright? Do you really want to be talking about this?" Sollux asked, anxious to change the subject from him. He hated being the center of attention. It made him feel far too exposed for his liking.
"No, not really," Eridan admitted with a sigh, sliding his arm gently around Sollux and pulling him closer, if that was possible. He pressed a kiss to Sollux's cheek. "I want to talk about how we're goin' to SeaWorld today."
Sollux turned and looked at him, smile on his lips. SeaWorld, huh?
"Oh, is that so?" he asked with a chuckle. Eridan's striking blue eyes sparkled with excitement as he nodded furiously.
"Yes! I've never been, and we're so damn close. I'm so excited," he admitted, making Sollux laugh.
"Alright, we can go to SeaWorld. Anything else that you want to do?" he asked, reaching up and flicking a stray piece of hair out of Eridan's face. Eridan smiled a sly smile, placing a hand on Sollux's chest as he leaned as close as he possibly could to the Gemini.
"I have somethin' in mind," he replied with a wink. Sollux smiled again, rolling his eyes and pressing his lips to the tip of Eridan's nose.
"Maybe after SeaWorld, you giant loser."
