"We really gotta find something else to do with those things," Neal breathed.

The Weevils ran towards the group, on the attack. There was too many for them to try to fight.

"Run!" Gwen shouted.

It was bedlam after that. The team scattered as they tried to avoid the vicious predator while still trying to take them out. Martha had made it all the way to center of the Hub before she realized she has been separated from the others.

Meanwhile, Rex and Neal darted down one of the halls, losing all but one Weevil. Rex emptied his magazine into the creature killing it. "I think we lost the rest of them," Rex said, surveying the hallway.

"And everyone else too," Neal said.

While that was going on, Violet was trying to get away from the Weevils, but was slowed down because she was carrying Gracie. "Where's Gray?" She asked, looking around.

"No clue," Violet said, "Just keep moving."

Gray, was in fact, still in the vault, trying to fight off a cluster of Weevils. One of them grabbed his arm, and pulled up next to its body. He felt its hot breath against its next and knew it was going in for the kill. He tried to pull back, but the creature was too strong. "This is it," He thought, "I'm going to die. Sorry Jules, sorry Katharine. I wish I could have been there."

But just as the Weevil's teeth were about to sink into Gray's jugular, it jerked back, as if startled. It turned to face its attacker, revealing Gwen, holding what looked like a jagged piece of metal, covered with blood.

"Run," She said dangerously, renewing her attack on the Weevil.

"No way," Gray said, grabbing Gwen and pulling her away, "If something happens to you and I'm still breathing, your friends will kill me."

"And since I'm the one who started all this," Gwen said, struggling against Gray's hold, "If anything happens to you Jack will kill me."

"All the more reason for us to work together to get out of here alive," Gray said.

Gray ran so fast Gwen's feet were an inch off the grown. At last, they could see someone in the distance. It was Violet and Gracie. "Gray, let go of me for a second," Gwen commanded.

Gray let of Gwen's hand, and she went over to Violet and helped her drag Gracie. "I didn't think I did this much damage," Gwen commented.

"Gwen, you shot her," Violet snapped, "What did you think would happen?"

Just there was a hissing sound. "What was that?" Gray asked.

"It think I know." Gwen said.

One of the improvements they had made in this Hub above the original was pipes the unleashed a knock-out gas that will knock out most life forms in the vault, in case somehow the residents got out. In the main room of the Hub, Martha had found the controls, and activated them.

Gray, Gwen, Gracie and Violet quickened their pace but they were all starting to feel drowsy from the gas. Gracie was the first to fall, followed by Violet, than Gwen, then Gray, unconscious in a heap on the floor.

Satisfied that all the Weevil's were out cold, Martha turned around and went back into the vault to find everyone.

She found the women plus Gray in their pile. She grabbed onto Gwen and started to drag her the way, though she couldn't move very fast carrying the dead wait. Suddenly there was the sound of feet running down the hall and a Weevil who hadn't been in the vault at the time and didn't get the smoke came into view, and charged Martha. Martha dropped Gwen and pulled her gun, firing at the creature. The Weevil jutted like something was hitting it from the back also, and when it finally fell to the ground she saw the Neal had also been shooting at it, Rex standing right beside him.

Instantly the two man ran up to the doctor. "Oh, is it good to see you two," Martha breathed with relief.

"It looks like you could use some help," Neal said, grabbing up the unconscious Gray. Seeing him struggling Rex went over and grabbed onto Gray's feet.

By the time the three had moved all the unconscious forms out of the vault, they were starting to wake up. "What happened?' Gwen said, slowly sitting up and looking around the main room of the Hub.

"Martha found the knock-out gas," Rex said, walking in from the hallway. He and the others-all two of them-had been rounding up the Weevils and taking turns checking to see if the others had come around yet.

"Oh," Gwen said, trying to get up, and nearly falling over. Luckily Rex was fast enough to catch her.

"Alright, Cooper," Rex said softly, lowering her back to the ground, "Maybe you should lie back for a little while, as least until the gas fully wears off."

"But the Weevils-" Gwen began.

"Already taken care of," Rex said, "Well, almost."

It was then Gwen noticed she was just one in a line of sleeping people. "Oh, my God, please tell me no one.."

"Don't worry, no one died," Rex said, "Except for Gracie, no one was even hurt."

"And what about Jack?" Gwen asked. She knew she was going to be in big trouble for this one. "What'd he say when you told him?'"

"Uhm, actually," Rex began, "No one's actually called him yet."

Just then as if on cue, the door opened and Jack walked in, followed by Julia and Nathanial.

"Wow," He said, stopping short at the scene before him, "What happened here?"

"Well," Rex began, "Ah..."

"It was my fault, Jack," Gwen said quickly, getting up, "It was all-my fault."

"What is?" Jack asked.

And with that everyone explained what had happened after Jack had left, Gwen snapping, Gracie threatening her with a gun then opening all the cells, Gwen shooting Gracie, the Weevils getting lose and Martha using the knock-out gas.

When they had finished, Jack rubbed his temples, looking as if he had a headache. Then he walked up to his office, shutting the door behind him. "So," Gracie began, "How much trouble are we in?"

"We might not might make it out of here," Gwen answered flatly.

Jack locked the door behind them and sat down at his desk. He unlocked his desk door and pulled out the bottle of kaz that still had half its contents from River's visit. Taking the glass, he filled it until it was at the brim, and slowly sipped it. Just before he had known what he was going to do about Gray and the secret team. He had planned to ask Julia to combine their teams, him taking the lead seeing as she was a few months away from maternity leave. That way, they could keep up the work they would doing and Jack could keep an eye on Gray. But now...with all the bad blood between Gwen and Gray there was no way they could work together. And of course the others would be suspicious of him and maybe even the others, too, and that could compromise them. And if he tried to put Gray back under, he'd try to fight his way out most likely, and if he didn't the others would and that would end in a bloodbath. And even if it wasn't for that...he just couldn't. Not again. "Damn you," Jack cursed himself, "Lives are at stake and you can't figure this out?"

For the next two hours Jack froze the team out. Every fifteen minutes or so, one of them would go up to his office and knock on the door, trying to get him to speak, but nothing.

"Any sign of life?" Martha asked, when Neal had came down from his turn.

"No," Neal said, rejoining the anxious and frustrated group, "I'm starting to think he's not even in there."

"That is a possibility," Gwen said, "He does have that Vortex Manipulator."

"Do we have any idea what he was planning?" Rex asked, "You know, before he came home to find we stepped in it?"

"He had said something earlier that getting all the creatures out of the storage closet," Nathaniel cut in, "sending them back to where they came from."

Violet's eyes suddenly lit up. "We can do that," She said.

They all turned to look at her. "How?" Rex asked.

"I was working on my Vortex Manipulator this morning and I think I finally got it fixed," She explained, "Well, at least I think I did. We could take it for a test drive and get some of these guys back where they came from." She shot Neal an apologetic look. She had been about to call him when Gwen called telling her about the alien attack, and, well, it wasn't like they had a free moment since. And-it's not like they could borrow Jack's. At least this way they knew they wouldn't be atomized.

Neal nodded his understanding.

"I'm not sure that's such a good idea," Gwen said, "I mean, look at the damage we've done already."

They all looked over at her and she knew what they were all thinking: We?

"Cut her some slack, guys," Gracie spoke up, "It was just as much my fault as it was hers."

"Thank you, Gracie," Gwen said.

"This could all be academic, anyway," Martha pointed out, "Unless Julia takes us to their headquarters."

Violet looked around the group and realized something. "Um, guys," She began, "Where is Julia?"

Rex realized there was another person missing from the group. "And where's Gray?"

Julia and Gray had gone off down of the hallways to talk to each other about the situation in private. "Do you know what Jack was planning?" Gray asked, as they walked through the halls.

"Not for sure," Julia said, "But I think he was coming around to our side." She ran her hands through her hair in frustration. "Or at least she was before Gwen and Gracie pulled that stunt. "

"He still might not put me back," Gray said, trying to make himself believe it as much as he was trying to make her believe it.

"Well, they're not just gonna let us go, "Julia snapped, starting to lose it.

"Julia," Gray said firmly, grabbing her arm, "Julia! Calm down." They stared at each other for a moment, then Gray let go if her arm and put his arm around her body, cocooning her in a hug. "There's one more option," He said.

"What?" Julia asked.

"We could run."Gray whispered in her ear.

Julia pulled back. "What?"

"We could run," Gray, "Scram, flee. Go somewhere far away from here where they can't find us. I mean, we talked about it when we first found out you were pregnant, so-why not?"

"Where are we gonna go, Gray?" Julia responded.

"Some map dot of a town where they can't find us, and we can give our baby a normal life."Gray said. Then he gently caressed Julia's stomach.

Julia was about to answer when they heard Rex's voice. "Hey, we've been looking all over for you guys."

Startled, they both jumped a little, turning to face Rex. "Sorry," Julia said awkwardly, "We just needed some time alone."

"I saw that," Rex said, "We were talking about trying to take some of the aliens at your base. Would you be interested in that?"

"Has Jack come out?" Julia asked, confused.

"Not yet," Rex answered, "But another team member of ours has a Vortex Manipulator. It's a broken down piece of junk but she thinks she's got it working again, so we're gonna give it a try."

Julia and Gray looked at each other. "Sure," Julia said, "What's the worst that can happen?"

As they prepared to go, they finally saw the door to Jack's office unlock. "Do-"Rex began, slightly scared, "Do you think someone should go see if he's ready to come out before we do this?"

"Who do you want to send up there, though?" Violet asked.

"Gwen was the one who started this," Neal said, not wanting to be sent back up there "She should be the one to take her chances."

"Hey!" Gwen exclaimed, "Gracie said it herself this is as much her fault as it is mine, so she should be the one to do it."

"I'm not going up there," Gracie said, then turned to Neal and said, "Why don't you do it? You're so knee to put it off an everyone else."

"I wasn't-" Neal began, "I didn't-" He sighed, "Alright, I'll go get him."

Neal walked up the stairs and cautiously pushed the door to Jacks office open. Jack was at his desk, looking down at something with an empty bottle at his side. He looked up at the sound of the door opening. "Neal?"

"We heard the door open," Neal explained.

"And why are you acting like I'm gonna bite your head off?" Jacked.

"We just thought-" Neal began, once again at a loss for words, "After what happened-you'd be..."

"I'm not mad at anyone," Jack said, "This just-puts a kink in what I had planned, and now...I have no idea what I'm gonna do. Three hours up here and I have nothing."

Neal looked at Jack symapthedicly, coughing a little. "Well," He began, "I don't know if it helps, but we were talking about heading back to their base and getting the aliens out."

Jack had almost completely forgotten about that. "Really?" He asked, "How were you planning on doing that?"

"Violet thinks she's got her Vortex Manipulator working again," Neal explained, "We figured it couldn't hurt to give it a test drive."

"Alright," Jack said, standing up, "It's better than sitting around doing nothing and feeling sorry for ourselves."

Neal smiled a little. "I'll tell the rest of the team your coming."

Neal didn't have to tell them. They could all see Jack following behind them, looking a little worried when he saw Gray standing next to Julia, ignoring it for now. In fact, the brothers barely made eye contact as they headed out of the Hub.

When they got to the other team's head quarters, Julia lead them start to storage closet. She grabbed a large key ring from a hook next to the door, and walked over to the first cage which contained a giant humanoid-frog. Jack reached out and touched her shoulder. "No," He said, "This way first." He pointed back to where Old Sparky was.

Julia lead them to the cage, where the creature was still sedated. "Man," Jack said, "What did you give him?"

"The strongest stuff we have," Julia said, unlocking the cage and stepping back, retreating to the back of the crowd, where Gray was and no one could see what they were doing.

Jack lifted up the electric creature, and found that the creature was very heavy. " A little help here!" Jack called out, struggling with the dead weight. Gwen, Rex, and Nathaniel rushed over help. No one noticed Julia take off one of the keys off the ring, and slip it to Gray.

They went through the rows, taking aliens out of cages, figuring out exactly where they came from, and Jack taking them. They never used Violet's Vortex Manipulator, only Jack's, but she didn't complain. Julia and Gray eyed every creature, waiting for the right one to come along. An hour in, the chance came. As Jack was coxing an adolescent cat-boy-and Julia was seriously rethinking her policy on aliens- out Gray snuck one row ahead over to Serentiee's cage. They knew that the minute she got out she'd go postal. Since she was unarmed they didn't think she could cause ant damage, but they hopped she's cause enough of a distraction for them to make a break for it.

He unlocked the cage and quickly backed away, so that he was well out of the practically psychotic extrataressial's way, signaling over to Julia who stepped a few feet back from the group.

Sure enough, Serentiee ran at the group, attacking Jack from behind, grabbing his throat and throwing him to the ground. "I told you , you should have gotten me out of this Hellhole." She whispered menacingly in his ear as she crushed his windpipe. The last thing Jack heard was the sound of gun fire. The team shot Serentiee until she let go of Jack's neck.

Rex and Neal pulled the woman up off of Jack. "She's still alive!?" Rex exclaimed.

Neal almost instantly recognized the body type, the high cheeks bones, and the unblemished skin. He still sometimes had nightmares about it. "She a Treygan. They're like cockroaches too. Hard to kill."

Rex looked over at him wondering how he knew that, and why he had such strong feelings about it.

"Darrow used them for guards." He explained.

Rex nodded his understanding and no one else reacted much. Just then they heard the sound of Jack gasping back to life. "Jack," Gwen said, helping him up, "Are you alright?"

"Aren't I always?" Jack said, reclaiming Serentiee from Neal and Rex. "I guess you right about this one Julia."

Julia didn't respond. In fact when everyone looked around the room, the realized that not only Julia was gone, but so was Gray. By the looks on their faces, even the others members of their team didn't know what they had been planning.

"Julia!" Jack shouted storming out the storage closet and down the hall, "Gary! Gray! Julia!"

"Jack!" Gwen called out, running after him, the rest of the group behind her.

"Gray!' Jack called out, his voice echoing through the building, "Julia! Gary! Julia!"

At last Gwen caught up with him. "Jack," She said stepping in front of him, trying to be heard over him, "Jack, Jack!" At last Jack stopped shouting and Gwen got out, "They're gone."

And so, a manhunt was launched for the two runaway lovers. While the others took to the streets, Violet and Gracie were left to look at the video feeds in the Hub, for any side of the wayward pair.

"I don't get what all the fuss is about," Gracie said, "I mean, it's one less thing for you guys to worry about."

"Oh ,yeah, no need to worry about a man with metal issues who has killed in the past on the run with a pregnant woman," Violet said sarcastically.

"Gray's changed, you've seen for yourself," Gracie replied. She looked like she was about to say something else, got a stricken look on her face, than got up from her chair saying, "I gotta go to the bathroom, could you-"

"First door on your right, that-a-way," Violet said, pointing to the east.

"Thanks," Gracie said, walking off.

When Violet was sure Gracie couldn't see her, Violet got up and walked into the direction of the bathroom. Sliding against the hall wall, she stopped a bit short of the bathroom door, and just as she thought, Gracie was on the phone with someone, presumably Julia. "What the Hell was that?" Gracie demanded. After a length of silence she said, "Well, you could've let me and Nate know. And seriously? Serentiee? Were you trying to get someone killed?" There was another length of silence then Gracie sighed. "Alright, where are you?" Silence then, "Nathaniel's out with the others, but I can meet you there, I just need a little bit to get away. Violet's with me." Silence again, then, "Meet you in ten."

The phone clicked off and Violet ran back to the center of the Hub before Gracie could see she had been spying on her. She sat back down in the chair as Gracie re-entered the room. "Hey," Violet said quickly.

"Hey," Gracie said, sounding confused by her friend's sudden outburst. She sat back down without saying a word. After a few seconds she spoke. "You know, I could go for some coffee," She said, "You guys got any around here?"

"No," Violet said, "But I could make a quick run-"

"No, I'll go get it," Gracie said, getting up before Violet had a chance to, "You can stay and scan the camera. You want anything? Green tea, no milk, no sugar, right?"

"Yeah," Violet said, playing along, "Sure. Thanks."

"Don't mention it," Gracie said, heading for the lift.

" 'Cause I won't be getting that cup," Violet thought, as she watched her leave.

When Gracie was gone Violet got up, and so as not to be noticed by Gracie, went out the front. Luckily Gracie still wasn't too far away, and Violet was able to sneak to the ally wall without her seeing. She followed like that for at least six blocks. At last Gracie stopped at a dinner and walked in. Violet followed in behind her, sitting down at both near the front. Her eyes followed Gracie who sat down at the table near the back across from Julia and Gray. They started talking, but Violet couldn't hear, so got up and move to closest table she dared.

"...so you're seriously telling me you're going to just run off, leave me and Nate, who has no other job options by the way, abandon everything you've built over the past three years and you don't have any idea where you're gonna go?" Gracie finished her sentence.

"You're making it sound worst than it is," Julia said calmly, "I-"

"No!" Gracie shouted, so loud every head in the room turned towards them.

Julia slumped in her seat, embarrassed by all the attention.

"Hey!" Gray exclaimed, "Nothing to see here, people."

Everyone turned back to their meals and conversations and jobs, except for Violet who was focused on the conversation.

"Don't pull that completely professional, distant, condescending crap with me," Gracie said her voice dangerously low, "Not about this."

"We're not abandoning you guys," Julia said, talking as if to a friend and not an employee, "I have a folder full of fake documentation for the both of you, you can take your pick of any life you want. The both of you. And you have Violet back again anyway-"

"That's where you're wrong," Gracie said curtly.

When Gracie didn't elaborate, Julia said, "How? I mean, except for her being upset with you at first you two have barely left each other side. Honestly I don't know how you shook her to get down here."

"Told her I was making a coffee run," Gracie replied.

Just then as if on cue, a waitress slightly heavy waitress with a pleasant face walked up to Violet's table and asked, "What can I get for you, love?"

"Oh! Tea, please, milk, no sugar," Violet said, hoping this way no one would hassle her about loitering.

"What kind?" The waitress asked.

"Surprise me," Violet said more interested in what Gracie was saying then what kind of tea to have.

The waitress left and Violet could once again focused on the conversation.

"She's a different person now," Gracie said, "She's got a new life, new friends- new boyfriend, she's dyed her hair back her natural color." Gracie took a breath, and said: "And she's clean. She's clean and I'm still a stinking drunk, and I'll only pull her down again and I can't do that. I won't do that."

Violet was thunderstruck. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Did Gracie really think that?

"Do you really have that low an opinion of yourself?" Julia asked.

"What do you think?" Gracie asked.

"And what would have us do, Gracie?!" Gray snapped, starting to get frustrated, "What?!"

"Take me with you." Gracie said.

They were all taken aback by that one. "What?" Julia deadpanned.

"Take me with you," Gracie repeated, this time with a tone of pleading in her voice, "I'm better when I'm with you guys. At least then you wouldn't be alone."

"Wow, there's a complete 180." Julia said, "Gracie you just said you pulled people down."

"But you guys seem to be the exception to the rule," Gracie said, "And like you said, Nate will be find on his own. Come one, guys, please. Let me come along with you."

Julia and Gray exchanged looks. "Are you sure about this?" Julia asked.

"Yes," Gracie replied, "I'm sure."

"Fine," Julia said, "Go back to Violet and meet us back here tomorrow once the heat's died down."

"Sure," Gracie said, getting back up. She turned around and saw Violet. They stared at each other a minute, Gracie shocked at seeing Violet, Violet shocked at what had just went down. Violet got up and ran outside, just as the waitress came back. "Here," Gracie said, handing the waitress a twenty. She ran after Violet.

"Violet!" She called to Violet as she walked down the street. When Violet turned around Gracie saw tears forming in her eyes. She wiped them away saying, "Do you-do you really think that?"

"You're better off without me, Vi," Gracie said, walking up to the younger woman, "I'm no good. I've never been any good."

Violet scoffed. "You can't believe that. You hated what we were doing as I did but you-you actually had the courage to try to leave."

"And look how that worked out," Gracie snapped, "I nearly died."

"But then you joined these guys, and-" Violet began, "And you stopped Declan and Michael and you saved me. Gracie, if it wasn't for what you did-I'd be dead right now, and God only knows what would have happened to Rose. "

They stared at each other for minute, and something in Gracie's eyes made Violet think she was getting through.

"And you can get clean, too," Violet said, "I'd be lying if I said it was easy-I nearly relapsed last year-but it can be done. You just have to make that first step."

Gracie was silent but Violet could tell she was thinking about what she had said. "You know what, Vi?" She said, digging in her jacket pocket, "You're right." She removed her flash from her jacket, "And I think I know what the next step is." She took one last ship from the flash, then aimed it down ward, letting the rest of its condense pour down on the side walked.

Violet felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest ad she fiercely hugged Gracie. "You have no idea how happy this makes me!" She squealed.

"That makes it really hard to me to say what I have to say next," Gracie said flatly as Violet let go.

Violet knew what was coming. "You're still going, aren't you?'

Gracie nodded solemnly. "I have t Vi. Please try to understand.

Violet squared her shoulders. "Well, if you're intent on running with them," She said, "At least let us help you run."
