The staff went to work with the defibrillator to revive Kellie as Jordan encouraged her to fight, tears streaming down his face.
"Come on, Kellie Girl," Jordan said, "I know you've got way more fight left in you."
Kellie gasped for air on her own as the machine reverted to a steady beep and her numbers went back up.
"Mr. Durant, I'm going to ask you to leave," Dr. Meadows said, "while I finish with Kellie. I want you to go with the nurses and your babies. It's important that one of you be able to touch them as soon as we have them set up in the incubator and talk to them."
"Of course," Jordan said, stunned but relieved that Kellie had been revived.
After getting Kellie settled, Dr. Meadows went out to the waiting room. Everyone started asking questions simultaneous.
Skye whistled to quiet everyone down, "She can't tell us how Kellie and the babies are if we don't let her talk."
"Thank you," Dr. Meadows said, "Both babies need a little help breathing, but we think they will be able to breathe on their own in the next week or so. Kellie, we had problems with her blood pressure and bleeding. she flatlined."
Carly gasped.
"We got her back," Dr. Meadows said, "It was rough. But she's stable. We'll wait and see."
In the meantime, Jordan was sitting with Kellie.
"I need you to open those big beautiful blue eyes of yours, Kellie Girl," Jordan said, "So I can take you to see your son and daughter. They can't wait to meet their mom. They need. Heck I need you. Just come back to us."
"She'll make it," Olivia said, "Have you been to see your son and daughter.?"
"They made me leave while they finished with Kellie," Jordan said, "I went to the NICU until they gave me the okay to come down here."
"Do you have names for them yet?" Olivia asked.
"We think so," Jordan said, "But I want to wait and be sure with Kellie that's what we had decided on. We hadn't finalized that yet."
They were interrupted by Kellie stirring and waking up.
"Hey sleeping beauty," Jordan said, "It's about time you woke up."
"I feel like I got hit by the titanic and the iceberg," Kellie said, "What happened?"
"Our son and daughter are sleeping in the NICU," Jordan said, "They'll need the incubator and breathing machines for a few days, but it looks like they'll be just fine."
"Good," Kellie said starting to go back to sleep, "I'm still so tired."
"You just had major surgery and delivered two babies," Jordan said, "I think you've earned the right to sleep."
"I love you too," Kellie dozing back off.
"I love you too," Jordan said, kissing her hand.
Dante ended up wandering the halls and found himself outside Sonny's room. Against what he would have considered his better judgement, he went inside.
"I really wasn't expecting to see you," Sonny said.
"Don't get used to it," Dante said.
"Is there any news on your sister?" Sonny asked.
"The babies need a little help breathing, but they should be fine," Dante said, "Kellie's in recovery. Long story short they almost lost her. But they think she's stable now."
"How are you?" Sonny said.
"Seriously," Dante said, "You don't get to ask me that."
"I know you hate me for whatever it is you think I did," Sonny said, "I'd hope one day you can forgive me."
"Do you honestly expect me to believe you?" Dante said, "I know people think you've changed because you came back to stand trial in order rescue Kellie, but I'm not buying it."
"Whatever you think of me," Sonny said, "Just don't take it out on your mom or Kellie. From I understand, "
"Coming in here was a mistake," Dante said, not letting Sonny.
"No," Sonny said, "We should hash this out."
"There's nothing to hash out," Dante said, leaving.
Dante almost ran smack into Jordan.
"Is Kellie awake yet?" Dante asked.
"She woke up long enough to ask about the kids," Jordan said, "She lost a lot of blood. Her uterus…They had to do a hysterectomy. She's probably out for the night."
"That's rough," Dante said.
"I'm going to go see my kids," Jordan said, "Then Olivia and Carly are insisting I go home and get some sleep. You should go sit with your sister for awhile."
"Get some rest, J.D.," Dante said, "I'll stay on watch."
The next morning, when Dante he left he noted some extra characters hanging around he hospital as did Lorenzo.
"Do you know who these guys are?" Dante asked.
"No," Lorenzo said.
"I'll let Max and Milo know," Dante said.
"We already know," Max said approaching them along with Milo, "All we need to know is they are on our side."
"You hired extra guys and didn't clear it with me?" Dante asked.
"A friend sent them," Max said, "A friend who feels he owes Kellie a great debt. He contacted me last night to let me know they were coming. All we need to do is pretend we know nothing about them and pay them no attention."
"Who's this friend?" Lorenzo asked.
"It's better if you don't know," Max said, "I didn't even ask a lot of questions when he called. I wasn't even aware this friend knew Kellie."
"It's safe to say most of our business associates are not happy with Jezebel resurfacing from the dead," Milo said, "She's goes far past the limits most of us stick to and according to our friend causes too much trouble."
"It's safe to say, he has plans to ensure Jezebel doesn't cause any more trouble," Dante said.
"That would be my guess," Max said.
"How do we know we can trust these guys," Dante asked.
"We can personally vouch for them," Max said, "Our friend sent guys he knew we would know we could trust."
