Nathan and Haley walked hand in hand into the chapel. Haley couldn't believe today was the day. She was going to get to marry the love of her life again. When Nathan had first suggested it she was a little shocked and confused. But when he explained his reasoning she really wanted to do. She wanted to stand in front of Nathan alone and say exactly what was on her heart. She was in love with him.

Neither one had said it to the other one yet. Nathan had obviously told his grandmother before and she told Julian, but they hadn't said it to each other. She wasn't sure why that was. Was she waiting for him to say it first or just for the right time? She didn't know. But when she did say it to him, it was going to be perfect.

"Well, I guess we're not late." Nathan chuckled, noticing that they were the only ones there.

"I guess not."

Nathan stopped walking and turned around to look at Haley. He wrapped his arms around her waist and she linked hers behind his head."I cannot wait to take you home today as my wife. I can't believe I get to wake up every morning to your beautiful face."

"This is it, Nathan. This is really it."

"Shhh. Don't move. Just listen. You hear that?"

"Mmhmm."

"I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. The way you look right now, the happiness that I feel, how being with you makes me feel like I can do anything."

"You know, I used to always imagine what my wedding day would be like. I used to imagine standing next to the man that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and nothing I could have imagined would have turned out as amazing as this."

"We're really gonna be husband and wife." Nathan smiled before kissing her.

When he pulled back Haley smiled at him. "Why, Mr. Scott, I do believe someone might think that we're in love." She said in a southern accent.

"Who cares?" Nathan smirked before capturing her lips again.

Haley sat on the pew waiting for Nathan to get back. He had gone to check on Chase before the mass. Deb and Daunte were now here and other friends and family members were slowly coming in.

Nathan walked over to Haley with a smirk on his face and sat down next to her. "What is that face? Did you find him?"

"I did. He's in the back rehearsing."

"Well, I bet it'll be wonderful."

"It better be. I want him to be in a good mood for our ceremony."

"It will. It's the law of averages. We deserve at least one good wedding." Haley chuckled.

"Right." Nathan leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.

Deb walked over and stood in front of Nathan and Haley. "Haley?"

"Yes? Is there a problem, Deb?" she asked, standing up.

"I'm just surprised that's all. I didn't expect to see your brother and his wife here." Deb said, and Haley turned to see Jake and Abby walking into the chapel.

Nathan stood up and placed his hand on Haley's back. "That's alright, isn't it, mom?"

"Nathan, this is a private family gathering to hear Chase's first mass."

"Yea, but they're family, remember? Plus, I'm sure Chase would love for his first mass to be standing room only, don't you think?"

"Actually, Abby just got her hearing restored so it's a great thing for all of us and she wanted to come hear her first mass. So when she heard about it, she asked if she could come. You know, she just wants to give thanks for all the good things that have happened in her life." Haley explained.

"That's wonderful. Of course they're welcome." Deb smiled, before walking away from them.

"That's great." Haley mumbled sarcastically.

Nathan turned and faced Haley. "You're not having any regrets are you?"

"About what?"

"About us not telling Jake and Abby that Chase is marrying us."

"No. I am not sorry about anything. I love the idea of the ceremony being just for us."

"Mr. and Mrs. Scott." Nathan smirked.

"I feel so close to you already, but when Chase pronounces us as husband and wife…"

"And when he says you may kiss the bride…"

"You know, I'm thinking about changing the rules on that one."

"Really?"

Haley wrapped her arms around his neck. "Yes. I would like the bride to be able to kiss the groom."

"Do I have a revolutionary on my hands?"

"You bet."

Nathan leaned down and kissed her softly. They both smiled when they pulled away. Haley saw Abby and Jake walking toward them.

"Hey, Jake." Nathan said turning around and grabbing onto Haley's hand.

"The church is so beautiful." Abby commented.

"And your mother has been very gracious." Jake said.

"Of course she'd welcome you. You're family. You know, I think today is the beginning of a new, close relationship between our families."

Chase walked into the sanctuary, signaling everyone to take his or her seat. Nathan and Haley sat on the front row with Deb while Jake and Abby sat behind them.

"Hello and welcome." Chase smiled as he stood on the stage. "If I seem a little nervous, it's because I am. But not as nervous as I am excited. See, this is my first mass as a priest. And the feelings I have, I can't describe them. I only hope I can share them with you, my friends and family."

As Abby sat listening to Chase speak, she began to hear a buzzing noise. She leaned over to Jake. "Jake, do you hear that?" she whispered.

"No."

"It's like a humming sound."

"I don't hear anything. Are you ok?"

"Yea. I'm fine." Abby decided to let it go and turn her attention back to Chase. But the noise wouldn't go away. "Are you sure you can't hear that? I can't believe you can't hear that."

"Abby, it's probably just the air conditioning."

"No. Something is wrong. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it."

"Abby, do you remember what the doctor said about sounds?"

"Yes."

"Ok. It's gonna be a while before you get used to certain sounds."

Abby sighed. "Ok."

Jake squeezed her hand. "It's ok."

Abby tried to ignore it and concentrate on Chase, but she couldn't let this go. She had to figure it out. "It's here! It is right here!" Abby said, standing up.

"Abby?" Jake said, standing up too.

"I am not crazy. Something is wrong. I have a feeling about this."

"Let's just go outside. It's probably just ambient sound." Jake suggested.

"Something is wrong in here with the sound. Don't you hear it?"

"No."

"Everyone just be quiet." Abby began walking around the pews looking for the sound of the humming. She walked until stopped at the pew that Nathan and Haley were sitting on. "Move." She said rather forcefully. Nathan, Haley and Deb stood up. "There it is. What is that?" she asked pointing to something under the pew.

"It's a bomb." Nathan said.

"Oh my God!" Deb screamed.

"Everybody get out." Nathan began ushering the crowd to the doors of the sanctuary.

Deb began pulling on the doors, but they wouldn't open. "What is wrong with these?"

"Open the doors!" Haley yelled.

"It's locked." Jake said.

"It can't be locked!" Deb yelled frantically. "We've got to get out of here!"

"Everybody just calm down." Jake shouted over everybody who had began to talk all at the same time. "We need to get something to knock the door down."

"Hang on a minute." Julian said. "There may be a way for me to diffuse this thing." He was standing in front of the pew looking at the bomb.

"Julian, no!" Brooke yelled.

"It's a computer mechanism. If I can just cut the cord…somebody help me roll this over." Nathan and Julian carefully picked up the pew and set in on its back so that they could look at the bomb. "It's one of these. One of these three wires is the connection between the timer and the detonator. If I can cut the wire it will disarm the bomb."

"How do you know?" Nathan asked.

"I just have to figure out which one is the right wire."

"Ok."

Jake and Chase had begun stacking other pews in front of everyone in the sanctuary to protect them from the blast. Deb and Brooke were both screaming for Nathan.

Julian and Nathan were still kneeling in front of the pew examining the bomb. "If I cut the wrong wire it will blow anyway."

"Well, which one do you think it is?" Nathan asked.

"It's one of these three, but I have to cut the right one."

"Julian, just cut one." Haley said, from behind the pews. Chase was trying to hold her back, but she was fighting to be over by them.

"Ok, I'll do it." Nathan said and Julian stood up.

"No!" Haley yelled, trying to get to him.

"Haley, get back!" Nathan yelled. Julian quickly went over to her and pushed her back behind the barricade. "When I say now, everyone get down." Nathan took a breath and pulled on one of the wires. "Now!"

He quickly laid on the ground with his arms covering his head. He waited for a few seconds and then popped his head up. It didn't go off. He got up to examine the bomb and saw that the clock had two seconds left on it.

"Nathan!" Haley shouted.

Nathan stood up and Haley rushed over to him and threw her arms around his neck. "It's ok, baby. It's ok." He said, rubbing her back. "This is why I wanted out. I didn't ever want you in this kind of danger. I'm gonna kill whoever did this. I'm gonna kill them."

Haley pulled back and looked at him. "No. I just need you to walk away, Nathan. Please, I just need you to walk away."

Nathan kissed Haley's forehead. "Look, I need to go make sure everyone is ok."

"No." Haley pleaded.

"I need to go check on everyone else. I'll be right back."

Haley sighed as he walked away and Julian walked over. "Are you ok?"

"Yes, I'm fine. I live for these wonderful family gatherings." Haley said sarcastically.

"What?" he asked, noticing the look of disgust on Haley's face.

"Look at her. She looks like she's so shocked."

"Haley, you can't think Deb set up this attack too."

"Are you kidding me? After everything else that's happened, I wouldn't put anything past her."

"Come on, Hales. She could've been killed and her kids too. She wants her family back in this life, not the next one."

Suddenly Bear burst through the doors with a pair of bolt cutters in his hands. "Are you ok? Why was the door chained shut?" he asked, walking over to Deb.

"That's what we're trying to figure out." Nathan rushed for Bear and grabbed his jacket collar. "We were almost blown up!"

"What are you talking about?"

"Where the hell were you?!"

"There was a bomb planted under one of the pews." Deb explained.

"You're supposed to protect us, Bear. Where the hell were you?!" Nathan yelled again.

Bear swatted his hands away. "I was outside checking the grounds and I saw some guy running from the church to the street."

"Who? Did you recognize him?"

"No, I didn't recognize him. I tried to grab him, he knocked me down, jumped into a passing car and took off. I should never have left you alone, Deb. I would never have forgiven myself…"

"Yea, you won't." Nathan said.

"Ok, ok. We don't have enough time for this. Look, I want names and I want bodies. First thing, you call Frederick and Martin and you tell them I want to see them immediately. Next, you go make it clear on the street that we are alive and well." Deb said.

Bear just stood there for a few seconds and Nathan shoved him. "Do it now!" Suddenly they heard sirens. "Great, this is great. Who called the cops?"

"I called the cops." Daunte spoke up.

"Are you out of your mind? Why?"

"We're the victims here, Nathan. We better start acting like victims."

"That's brilliant." Nathan said sarcastically.

Officer Grant and Detective Dupre walked into the chapel. "Are we ok here?" Officer Grant asked.

"Relax, gentlemen. We're not armed." Daunte said.

Detective Dupre walked over to Deb and Nathan. "What happened here? Do you have any idea who did this?"

"No, Detective. We came here today to see and hear my nephew's first mass. We are just innocent bystanders." Deb answered.

"You mean to tell me that your family is gathered here and a bomb is planted and it's a coincidence? Do I look like I'm stupid here, Mrs. Scott?"

"Not at all, Detective."

"Well, one of your competitors just almost put your family out of business permanently. Now who did it?"

"I have no idea what you're referring to."

"Are you still representing her?" Detective Dupre asked, looking at Daunte.

"That's correct."

"Then will you do me a favor and inform your client the penalty for impeding a police investigation."

"Mrs. Scott is cooperating, Detective. You're just not listening. Now, we found a bomb in that pew over there. How it got there, we don't know."

"Yea, some random nut probably did it, Michael." Officer Grant said sarcastically.

"Well, there are a lot of them these days, Officer." Daunte said.

"There's nothing random about this and we know it." Detective Dupre said.

"Here's another theory." Officer Grant walked over and stood next to Detective Dupre. "A rival family caught you all moving in on their territory. Maybe that night Nate here was arrested, huh?"

"You have quite a vivid imagination." Deb said.

"You heard our attorney. We don't know who did this or why." Nathan said, glaring at Officer Grant.

"But we're grateful for all your concern, gentlemen. And if you do find out who is behind this attempted bombing, please let us know." Deb smiled.

"Mom, just tell them the truth." Brooke spoke up. "Tell them you and Nathan wanted to make the family business legitimate."

"Brooke." Deb reprimanded.

But Brooke continued. "No! And you told the other families that and now they're turning on you. Just tell them the truth! We have nothing to hide."

"May I speak to you, Mr. Fox?" Detective Dupre asked.

"Certainly." Daunte followed him to the hallway.

Deb grabbed Brooke's hand and looked at Officer Grant. "My daughter is shaken up right now and she's not thinking clearly."

"She sounded pretty rational to me."

"She's been away at school in California. She just came into town and she knows nothing about the family business."

"Right. There was a big pow-wow with the other families. Who was there?" he asked, looking at Brooke.

"Why don't you lay off. She doesn't know anything." Nathan said.

"But maybe you do, huh? So you can fill me in. Right, Nathan?"

"No thanks." Nathan smirked.

"We will be back. You can count on that." Officer Grant gave them one last look before he joined Detective Dupre in the hall and they left the church.

Deb turned and looked at Brooke. "Brooke, listen to me. Don't ever do that again. Do you hear me?"

"Why? We didn't do anything wrong. Maybe they can help us. They can protect us."

"No. Nobody can help us now. We're in too deep."

"Don't say that. Please don't say that."

"Look, if our enemies think that we've involved the police, they'll see it as a sign of weakness and they'll become bolder and are more likely to attack us again. Is that what you want?"

"Stop talking to her like that. You're scaring her." Julian said, coming up behind Brooke.

"Julian, stay out of this. She's my daughter. I know what's best."

"I'm sure you do, Mrs. Scott. This is the second time she's almost been killed because of you."

Deb ignored his comment. "Brooke, I know that you are upset, but you have to control yourself. You're a big girl now and we have to face facts. We are in a vulnerable position right now and it's dangerous. The only way to survive is if we close ranks. We need to be a family now more than ever."

"No. This is not a family." Haley said angrily before walking into the hallway. She walked over and leaned against the wall and tried to stop herself from crying. She felt hands on her shoulders and she knew it was Nathan. She turned around and he wrapped his arms around her.

"It's ok. Come on, don't let my mother get to you. You know better than that. It's gonna be ok."

Haley pulled back to look at him. "How? Please tell me how everything is gonna be ok. Nathan, you have this look in your eye like you agree with everything that she's saying about closing ranks and the family has to stick together. I mean, if you only knew."

"Knew what?" Haley just shook her head. "Haley, come on. I can't just let this go."

"You can. You can just walk away from all of this."

"And let the people who tried to kill us get away? What if they try again? What if they were to succeed next time? What if they came after you?"

"Nathan, look where we are. We're in a church. Chase is still here and he can marry us and we can renew our vows and start our normal life together."

"We will. I promise."

"When? Do you remember how we were this morning and how happy we were and full of hope and freedom? Please."

Nathan wrapped his arms around her again and she laid her head on his chest. "Haley, I wanted this day to be so perfect. And we'd be really married and we'd renew our vows and walk out of here as husband and wife forever."

Jake and Abby walked over to them and Jake cleared his throat. Haley sighed as she turned around to look at her brother. "Haley, I'm gonna take Abby home and I want you to come with us."

"No, I'm not. I need to be with Nathan right now. Everything will be fine."

"Haley." Nathan started.

"What?"

"Maybe Jake is right."

"No. Listen to me, you guys. You and Abby have been through a lot, ok. And you did it because you stuck together and that's what I need to do right now. I need to be with my husband."

"You cannot fight this." Jake said.

"I can."

"What family member has to die before you get this?" Jake slightly shouted. He was becoming angry. All he wanted to do was protect his little sister.

"Jake, take care of your wife and let me be here for my husband."

"Obviously I'm not gonna be able to change your mind."

"No. Please just go. We'll talk later. I promise."

"Fine." Jake said, grabbing Abby's hand and walking away from them.

Haley turned around and laid her forehead against Nathan's chest and groaned. Nathan wrapped his arms around her. "Haley, if anything had happened to you today…I couldn't go on living."

Haley pulled back and looked at him straight in the eyes. "Now you know how I feel."

Nathan kissed her on the forehead, before grabbing her hand. "We should probably get back in there." Haley nodded and they walked into the sanctuary. Nathan stopped and turned to face her. "We are gonna have everything we talked about, ok."

"Nathan." Deb said, coming up behind them.

"In a minute, mom."

"No, now. You can attend to Haley's needs later."

Nathan turned his head to look at his mother. "I'm talking to Haley."

"Don't you realize that your obsession with this girl could have cost us all our lives? Because of her, you arranged a meeting with all the families and made that foolish announcement. That's why they're angry, Nathan. My God."

"Don't you dare blame him for something that is your fault. What happened here is your fault." Haley said.

"My fault?"

"Yes. You're such a hypocrite, Deb. You tell everybody to own up to their own mistakes. Well, why don't you own up to something that you've done for once in your life?"

"What are you talking about?" Nathan asked.

"Ask her. She knows exactly what I'm talking about."

"She's obviously confused and upset."

"Tell him, Deb."

"Tell me what?" Nathan asked again.

"Tell your son that you're the reason that Julian and Brooke almost died. Why don't you tell them, tell them all that you staged the shooting at the house. I have proof of it!"
