Oh my god! Chapter 50! ^^ Woooohoooooo!
Chapter 50: Did He Fail?
Lily remembered how her father used to bring her to the lake in the forest, near their old house.
He used to teach her things that women shouldn't know.
Such as climbing trees, shooting arrows with a bow. But the favourite thing he taught her was music.
"Papa?" Lily's eight year old voice spoke energetically as her father handed her a guitar. "Is this really mine?" She asked, wide eyed.
He chuckled. "Happy birthday, precious." She hugged him so tightly it was a wonder he could breathe.
"Thank you!" She squeaked. "I love it!"
Jack beamed at her. "Good! Now, can you play it?" He asked, smirking at her.
He knew she could, because she'd already practised on their neighbours guitar. And she'd already read so much about music that it'd be impossible for her to not be able to.
Her fingers strummed slowly at first, as though she was trying to figure out what she was going to play.
"I wish I knew why the clouds above are so beautiful
And I wish that I knew why they create pictures for me and you
It's a miracle for us to share
White and grey patterns up in the air
I could daydream and look at the sky forever..."
Jack smiled at the sound of her voice, as though he was hearing it for the first time.
"Can't you see that it's a beautiful world
Come with me, I'll show you
Open your eyes and see the beauty around
Take my hand, and I'll lead you
It's so wonderful, so magical
Just the other day
I saw an angel and a polar bear playing games in the sky
I saw a king sat in a great big chair
If you look at the clouds every way
Then they tell us a story each day
And they don't make a sound but they'll share together
Can't you see that it's a beautiful world
Come with me, I'll show you
Open your eyes and see the beauty around
Take my hand, and I'll lead you
It's so wonderful, so magical
It's so wonderful, so magical
Beautiful...
Beautiful...
Beautiful world...
Can't you see that it's a beautiful world
Come with me, I'll show you
Open your eyes and see the beauty around
Take my hand, and I'll lead you
It's so wonderful, so magical
It's so wonderful, so magical
It's a beautiful world..."
Her father clapped when she finished and chuckled. "That was amazing, Lily." He complimented.
"Thanks Papa!" She giggled.
Her eyes brimmed with tears when she saw him standing before her, looking very different.
Before she lost him, he had brown hair and matching hazel eyes. His clothing consisted of a white v-neck under shirt with a brown leather vest and dark trousers. She remembered every detail despite the time that had passed.
She remembered the patched poncho he wore to covered himself with.
He looked somehow younger now, with hair as white as snow and striking blue eyes, and very pale skin.
His clothing had changed as well, it was a little like the clothes she'd seen in Storybrooke, so far.
A blue hooded sweater with frost collecting around the ring of the collar, and trousers bound with lighter material starting from the knee down to the rather tattered and frayed bottom.
His eyes widened in shock. "Lily." He breathed.
Her heart skipped. "Y-you look different." She whispered as he walked closer to her.
"And you look ten times more beautiful then I remember." He replied. "I-I missed you."
He went to embrace her, but when he did it was like touching a ghost... He went right through her. "Wha-?"
Pan chuckled. "I see you have forgotten our deal, Jack." He smirked. "You'll never touch her again." He said darkly "Consider yourself lucky that I'm letting you talk to her."
"What did you do to her?" Jack demanded, pointing a wooden staff in Pan's direction.
Peter smirked. "A lot of things." He whispered.
"Enough of this." Rumple growled impatiently. "I have a job to finish, and I have to do it, whatever it takes. No loopholes. And what needs to be done has a price a price I'm finally willing to pay." He stated.
He sighed and turned to Baelfire, who was frozen, just like the rest of the team. "I used the curse to find you, Bae, to tell you I made a mistake, to make sure you had a chance at happiness. And that happiness is possible just not with me. I accept that."
"Pretty, pretty words." Pan mocked, almost sounding bored.
Rumple ignored him. "I love you, Bae. And I love you, Belle. You made me stronger."
Peter glanced at Belle and scoffed. "Stronger? Yes. But still No magic." He reminded him.
"Oh, but I don't need it." The dark one smirked. "You see, you may have lost your shadow, but there's one thing you're forgetting."
Lily couldn't help but smile at the aggravated- hell, almost worried tone of Pan's voice. "And what's that?"
"So have I. I sent it away with something to hide." He raised his hand and in seconds, a shadow swooped down with a wavy silver dagger and handed it to him.
"Uhh! What are you doing?" Pan growled when Rumple pulled him closer. "You see, the only way for you to die is if we both die. And now now I'm ready."
He moved quickly with the blade, long enough to go through Pan's back and into the dark one's chest and plunged it in.
Black smoke surrounded him, but Peter was no where to be seen, his spell broke on the frozen people beside him.
Belle fell to her knees. "No! Rumple!" She sobbed. "He's- he's gone."
"My father did what he had to do." Bae whispered. "He saved us. Regina, don't let him die for nothing."
"Regina." Emma started.
"What?" She snapped.
"We're here for a reason, luv." Hook said.
"Pan? He's dead." She retorted, though Lily had her doubts. Why didn't he make a sound when the dagger plunged through him? Rumple sure did. Was he really gone? Did Peter Pan actually fail?
"His curse remains." Hook reminded her. "Can you stop it? Or should we all start preparing our souls?" He chuckled. "'Cause mine's gonna take some time."
"It's here! It's here! The curse! It's here!" Someone, a dwarf, yelled loudly, as they ran down the street. "It's coming! From all sides. There's no escape."
"It's not too late." David stated. "We can still stop it, right?"
"Regina?"
"Yes." She whispered, looking down.
"Wh-what's our price? Gold said that there was a price." Henry asked.
"It's not our price." She bit her lip. "It's mine."
Emma frowned. "What are you talking about?" She asked.
"It's what I felt when I first held it. I have to say good-bye to the thing I love most." She whispered.
"Henry?" Lily guessed, realisation hitting her.
She nodded. "I can never see him again. I have no choice. I have to undo what I started. The curse that brought us to Storybrooke. That created Storybrooke. It doesn't belong here. And neither do any of us. Breaking the curse destroys the town. It will wink out of existence as though it were never here. And everyone would go back to where they're from, prevented from ever returning."
"All of us." Snow whispered.
"Except Henry. He will stay here because he was born here."
Panic was visible in the boy's eyes. "Alone?"
"No." Jack started. "I was never in the curse to start with, Pan's shadow bought me here... And Lily was in... Neverland."
Regina nodded. "And Emma escaped." She turned to Henry's real mother. "You will take him, because you're the Saviour. You were created to break the curse. And once again, you can escape it."
"I-I don't want to." She said. "We'll all go back with everyone."
"That's not an option. I can't be with him. If I don't pay the price, none of this will work." She said apologetically, her eyes full of sadness..
"Emma, you have to go." Snow insisted as they hear a deadly rumbling in the distance.
Emma shook her head. "I just found you."
"And now it's time for you to leave us again. For your best chance, for his."
"No. N-no, I-I I'm not done." She whimpered. "I'm the Saviour, right? I'm supposed to bring back all the happy endings. That's what Henry always said."
"Happy endings aren't always what they think they will be. Look around you. You've touched the lives of everyone here."
"But we're a family."
"Yes, and we always will be. You gave us that." Snow smiled at her. "You and Henry can be a family, and you can get your wish. You can be like everyone else. You can be 's time for you to believe in yourself, Emma. It's time for you to find hope."
"I've known you for some time, and all I've wanted was for you to get the hell out of my life so I can be with my son." Regina admitted. "But, really, what I want is for Henry to be happy. We have no choice. You have to go."
"Okay." She whispered.
