Chapter 53: Coming Home

A week has passed. A week Yumichika and Ylfordt spent in Zaya's domain, learning how to use the new gifts they have been blessed with.

A week since the fall of Las Noches and the death of Aizen.

A week it has been silent. A week nothing happened.

And that only made the Soul Reapers, Arrancars, Vizards and Bounts nervous.

For it was always calm before a storm.

"I think we've got it," Ylfordt said, smiling in satisfaction.

They were in the perfect place to train. The terrain was constantly shifting, alternating between a desert, a canyon, an ocean, and even the sky. This time, it was a volcano, the heat penetrating and feeling extremely realistic.

"I believe so as well," Yumichika said. "Zaya, are we ready?"

The Diablos smiled, her eyes a warm forest green.

"I believe so," she said. "One more time, for good measure."

"Alright," Yumichika said. "Bankai, Nijikujaku no Hana!"

"Impale, Deltorro!" Ylfordt said. "Resurreccion, Secunda Etapa!"

Rith hated his luck. He truly hated it.

It was a Captain's meeting. And he had to be there as well.

"Alright then," Yamamoto said. "Rith, is there anything on your end you would like to report?"

"Not something that I like," he said. "But have to."

"What is it?" Unohana asked.

"First off, the barriers of Hell have been slightly weakened after the Sinners escaped," Rith said. "Two Demons have escaped. One has been taken care of, the other is at Las Noches."

"So Aizen has a Demon's help now?"

"Why do you look worried, Captain Unohana?" Ukitake asked.

"Demons are a lot stronger than Sinners," Rith explained. "Some of them are even stronger than the Diablos. The ones imprisoned in Hell are the ones we couldn't kill."

"And now Aizen has that thing to help?!" Kenpachi asked incredulously.

"No," Rith said. "The Demon, along with the Sinners, had killed Aizen about a week ago, as well as some of the Arrancars. As it is, only one of the Espada remains. The others were either killed or have joined our side."

"And you waited this long to tell us?!" Sui-Feng snapped.

"Hey, I had to go into my third Resurreccion the other day. I've been recovering. By the way, there are quite a few greedy Soul Reapers. Also, Las Noches is destroyed, along with the machine Aizen used to open the Gates in the first place. And the barrier to Hell has been strengthened."

"That's good," Byakuya said. "And the state of the Sinners?"

"As you know, we need Yumichika's shikai to send them back to Hell. An opportunity to use it against them hasn't arisen again, but the two that had been affected have already been sent back to Hell."

"So," Yamamoto said, "things are going fine on your end?"

"Of course. As you know, we don't handle things in a straightforward manner, so that we can focus on multiple things at a time. Like which of the Arrancars would join us instead of fighting for Aizen. They are no threat to anyone anymore, and they have made a choice based on judgement. It is essential to filter out the ones that are truly dangerous from the ones that are merely going along for survival."

"So, in the eyes of the Diablos, things are going well," Yamamoto said. "Very well. Who's next?"

Back at Las Noches, things are not going well.

Those left of Aizen's Arrancar army were rebuilding the rubble that was once a fortress.

The remains of Szayelapporro's lab were found, as well as the remains of the machine, smashed to pieces. The Sinners considered getting Szayelapporro to rebuild it, but Oriano had said that it would not be wise, for the Diablos would just interfere. No, there were other ways to open the Gates, and letting Hell loose.

Barragan was the only Espada left, and only two of his Fraccion, Ggio and Findor, remained. Avirama was killed by the Diablos, while the other three were killed by the Sinners. Barragan had originally ordered his Fraccion to attack, but halted the order when only two remained. He could see their strength could not match against the Sinners, and had ordered them to cease. The Sinners had left the Fraccion well enough alone after that, figuring that Barragan's temporal ability could prove useful at a later time, and the two Fraccion were kept alive as insurance.

Most of them were displeased when it became clear that Loly and Menoly survived, and the duo weren't too happy with the others' reactions.

Other survivors included Aldegor, Rudborn, the three Privaron Espada, Menis, Patros, Aisslinger and, surprisingly, Kukkapuro, the dog.

And the dog was in the least amount of danger, many of the Sinners playing with the dog while the Arrancars worked.

"It's been a week," Ikkaku groaned. "When's Yumichika coming back?"

"That's what I want to know as well," Nnoitra said.

The two of them were sparring, the rest watching. Grimmjow looked like he wanted to join in, pointedly looking at Renji, who kept saying 'later'.

"It shouldn't be too long," Zeron said. "I think Zaya's more or less finished with what she was doing with them."

"And that would be?" Luppi asked, relaxing inside his new gigai.

With Szayelapporro's help, Urahara had finally managed to make gigais for the Arrancars and the Bounts, and they spent a lot of their time in there.

The Bounts had also had their chains removed, but with a warning that they were not to do anything that jeopardised their new freedom.

"I think you'll have to wait and see," Leva said, chuckling.

Ylfordt and Yumichika stood nervously in front of the shop. How would their friends react? Did they even know where they had gone?

"Go on," Zaya said. "No need to be nervous."

"Are you coming with us?" Yumichika asked.

"Unfortunately, no. I have some business to take care of. Now, I think your friends have waited for you long enough, don't you think?"

The two nodded. They took a deep breath, and opened the door.

They found Urahara relaxing behind the counter, but when he saw who it was, he was at their side in an instant.

"Are you alright?" Urahara asked.

"We're fine," Yumichika said. "More than fine, actually."

"That's good to hear," Urahara said. He turned to Ylfordt. "You just need to see me in regards to your gigai."

"Alright," Ylfordt said, smiling.

The real reunion would be coming soon.

Szayelapporro looked away from the sparring duo when he sensed Urahara enter the training ground. He was distracted, however, when he saw who was with him.

"Ylfordt!" he greeted, rushing to embrace his older brother.

The others halted everything and came to the duo, only Luppi moving to embrace Yumichika, and Rangiku hugging both of them, much to Yumichika's annoyance and Ylfordt's embarrassment.

"Welcome back," Grimmjow said, grinning at his former Fraccion. "Please tell me you got stronger, at least."

"I did," Ylfordt said, showing them his new sword.

"That's not your Zanpakuto," Szayelapporro observed.

"Zaya gave it to me. My original was most likely destroyed."

"And Las Noches is completely destroyed," Grimmjow said. "Might take a while before they make an appearance again."

"That's good," Yumicika said. "Anything happen while we were gone?"

"Not much," Shuuhei said. "Although Ikkaku and Nnoitra seem to be good friends now."

"Hey, he puts up a good fight," Ikkaku defended. "Anyway, Yumichika, please tell me you got stronger too."

"I did," he said. "Zaya helped me reach my bankai."

"She did?" Rangiku asked. "Ooh, can we see?"

"Alright," he said, moving until he was a fair distance away from them. "Bankai. Nijikujaku no Hana."

Zaya glared at the four Diablos in front of her, arms crossed and eyes as black as coals.

"Tell me again why I'm mad at you," she said, her voice like ice.

Kivara sighed, the anger from her elder not sitting well with her.

"Because we didn't ask your permission to do something that in principle is against our nature," she said.

"Good," Zaya said. "And why did you decide to do that?"

"Because we wanted to lower the chance that Onairo could come at any time," Baro said.

"We also saw no other way that we could help Ylfordt," Nagina said. "You know how important the semi-Voids are."

"I do," Zaya said. "But I would have come up with something. Onairo threatened my pride. I couldn't let that one slide."

"At least we've stalled them," Rith said.

"You know it won't last forever," Zaya said. "Eight Sinners still roam free, and we can't exactly just take Yumichika there to drain all of them. It would look too suspicious, and it could endanger him. And then there's Onairo. You know the tenacity of Demons."

"We do," Nagina said. "Please, we only acted in a way we felt was right."

"If you're going to punish us," Kivara said, "then do it soon."

Zaya smirked, her eyes changing to cerise.

Everyone stared in amazement.

Yumichika's bankai started out with many flowers floating around, each flower a different colour. Then the flowers crumpled, becoming petals. A wild wind blew, spreading the petals around. The moment a petal touched someone, the petal would glow, and the person could feel their strength waning.

Yumichika himself was surrounded by a rainbow light, a pair of wings on his back. His eyes also appeared to be multi-coloured, and his clothes became splendid white robes. He still held onto a sword, an invisible force would slice through the surrounding air whenever he would swing it.

"That's pretty," Titania said.

"Yeah," Ikkaku nodded. "Kind of fits you. But it looks like you can't fight anymore."

"Are you sure?" Yumichika said. He held out his sword. "Reap."

The others stared in amazement as the sword became Shuuhei's Zanpakuto, Kazeshini.

"How?" Shuuhei asked.

"My bankai allows me to utilize the powers of anyone that I had drained, in either shikai or bankai," Yumichika explained. "The more people I drain, the more powers I gain."

"But Zaya's are unavailable to you," Ylfordt said.

"Unfortunately, yes," Yumichika sighed. "I would have loved to be able to use Heaven's Monarch."

"Believe us, we know," Zeron said.

"I can also control who the petals drain," Yumichika explained. "This will certainly be useful against the Sinners."

"Indeed," Leva said. "And the sword itself is able to fight against Demons."

"Man," Rangiku pouted. "Now I want a bankai."

"Then start training!" Ikkaku said.

"Hey, Ylfordt," Grimmjow said. "Didn't you get stronger too? Please tell me that you had a good reason to spend an entire week with the Diablos leader."

Ylfordt nodded, stepping away from the others. He held up his own Zanpakuto.

"Impale, Deltorro! Resurreccion, Secunda Etapa!"

Sui-Feng looked around. Once again, the Diablos of Greed was nowhere to be found.

She eventually went to Captain Unohana, who was drinking a cup of tea.

"You haven't seen that Diablos by any chance, have you?" Sui-Feng asked.

Unohana glanced at her before sipping some of her tea.

"What exactly do you have against Rith?" Unohana asked.

"I get the feeling that every time I can't find him, something bad is happening."

"Well, if you must know, he went to see Zaya. Something about him not doing as he was told and older sister having to punish her younger siblings."

"So, he's getting punishment?"

"It would seem like it, yes."

"You know, I'd like to see what this 'punishment' is."

They stared in awe at Ylfordt.

His new appearance was a little more humanoid than his former Resurreccion. His torso remained bare, revealing a muscular body. His lower body was covered by a pitch black loincloth, with his feet that of a bull, the fur leading up to it as black as night. The black fur was also present at his arms, looking like fingerless gloves. He no longer had a mask, but two black, curved horns rested proudly upon his head, like a crown.

"Now I want a vacation with Zaya," Luppi whined.

"That form doesn't look too strong," Grimmjow said.

"It is, trust me," Yumichika said, walking closer. "He uses speed to increase his strength. The faster he is, the stronger he gets."

"That's good," Zeron said. "Now, I think it's time to train the rest of you."

"Are we seriously going back to that?"

"Oh come on, you can't be serious."

"I just want to relax. Not train."

"Please, can't we do this tomorrow?"

Zeron smirked lazily, not listening to any of the complaints.

This would be a long day for them.

Zaya's punishments were always cruel and creative, to say the least.

Nagina glared at Baro, who kept fondling her breasts. Kivara glared at Rith, who was doing the same for her non-existent ones. Kivara also hated the feeling of hunger, something that she hadn't felt in three thousand years. Well, not true hunger at least. Rith hated being in a tiny body, and Baro wondered how Nagina moved with the extra weight.

Zaya had made their punishment spending time in one of the other's bodies. Rith in Kivara's, Nagina in Rith's, Baro in Nagina's and Kivara in Baro's.

They would remain like that for the next twenty four hours.
