After Halina's father made his co called decree, he shut the door to Halina's room and Halina could hear the sound of the lock.
"No!" she moaned as she sat down and leaned against her door. There had a been a part of her that was happy with the idea of Kaoru coming over and she'd get to see him. Plus the idea that maybe his mother could actually help her in some way really raised her spirits. But what good could they do if her father was going to keep her locked up in her room like this and not even let her see them?
'Kaoru please come and help me,' she thought.
"Hmm," said Mrs. Hitachiin as she looked over the Kapule Mansion with she and her sons standing in front of it, "For some reason I thought they'd have more of a tropic color or something."
"Why would you think that?" Hikaru asked.
"Well they're from Hawaii aren't they?" said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"Mom, don't be like that," said Kaoru.
"Like what?" asked Mrs. Hitachiin, "You're not hoping to not embarrassed yourself in front of your girlfriend's family huh? Alright I'll do my best not to say anything too weird as long as we're here."
"Are we even sure we should be doing this?" asked Hikaru, "I mean they really don't like us."
"That's why we should really work on fixing it don't you think?" said Mrs. Hitachiin as she rang the doorbell. Slowly the door was opened by a butler.
"Hello," said Mrs. Hitachiin cheerfully. The butler didn't even smile but merely stepped aside for them. The three Hitachiin all walked in and looked around.
"Well it sure is, uh nice," said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"I'm glad you like it Mrs. Hitachiin," said Mr. Kapule as he came up along with wife at his side, "Welcome to our home."
"Thank you for having us over," said Mrs. Hitachiin , "My boys and I are thrilled to be here."
"Yeah overjoyed," muttered Hikaru.
Kaoru meanwhile looked up and could see Halina's four siblings watching them from the top of the stairs. Her sister looked annoyed while her brothers were busy whispering to each other with evil looks on their faces.
"Where's Halina?" he asked. Halina mother whispered into her husband ear but all of the Hitachin could still hear her.
"He must be the one."
Mr. Kapule glared at Kaoru.
"Are the one from the photo young man?" he asked.
"Oh are you talking about this photo?" Mrs. Hitachiin asked holding up her phone with the picture on the screen.
"Yes that'd be the one," said Mr. Kapule.
"Isn't it cute?" said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"You think it's cute?" said Mrs. Kapule.
"I think it's darling. Young Love is always adorable!" said Mrs. Hitachiin, "I'm so happy with the idea of my son finding such a girl he'd want to kiss like that."
"That's fine and all but it'd be nicer if it wasn't with our daughter!" said Mr. Kapule.
"Oh why not?" asked Mrs. Hitachiin, "I can assure my son will treat your daughter with great respect and kindness."
"We don't care. We don't want your son near our daughter," said Mrs. Kapule.
"Does this have anything to do with the fact that we're rivals in the fashion industry?" Mrs. Hitachiin asked getting annoyed.
"We don't want anything to do with you madam or our family," said Mrs. Kapule.
"Youre daughter isn't you though. Shouldn't she be allowed to ake her own choices?" asked Karou.
"She could if she wasn't making dumb choices all the time," called down Halina's brother Ainakea.
"Yeah like dating you," said another brother Akuma. Kaoru glared up at the boys.
"Where is Halina by the way?" he asked again.
"None of your business young man," said Mr. Kapule.
"Well shouldn't she be a part of this conversation?" Kaoru asked.
"He does have a point. This is her life we're talking about," said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"With all due respect Halina is our daughter and we'll decide what's best for her!" said Mrs. Kapule.
"You can't always do that for her though you know," said Mrs. Hitachiin, "Your daughter's growing up and that means she has to start making her own calls on certain things like whom she wants to be with. Don't you think?"
Both of Halian's parents looked at each other.
"You know in a weird way she does have a point," said Mrs. Kapule.
"Mother!" called down Akahele, "You can't be serious!"
"I'm very serious," said Mrs. Kapule. She made a motion to a nearby servant, "Go get Halina and bring her down." The servant bowed and hurried upstairs.
"Oh this is going to be interesting," said Akoni as the servant walked past the four of them.
"Yeah who knows what dumb things Halina's going to add to this pointless conversation," said Ainakea.
"Hey!" Kaoru shouted up to the boys, "Don't be talking about Halina like that!" The three triplets merely laughed while Akahele raised an eyebrow at Kaoru's outburst. Her parents looked a bit surprised too at Kaoru's comment.
"Maybe his feelings for her are real," Mrs. Kapule whispered to her husband.
"They could very well be," Mr. Kapule whispered back, "but still...
Halina was startled by the sound of her door lock coming undone and the door suddenly moving. She backed away from it in time to see it open and a servant standing there.
"Your parents wish to see you," he said in his usual cold tone.
"About what?" Halina asked.
"Please just come with me," said the servant sounding annoyed.
Halina decided to not argue and follow the man back down to her parents. As they came to the stairs her brothers and sister all turned around to look at her.
"Well this is going to get a whole lot dumber huh?" said Akane as she walked past everyone.
"Now now, don't be so cruel," said Akahele, "For all we know Mother and Father will be able to keep her from saying anything at all."
"Huh?" said Halina as she happened to look down. There she saw Kaoru and his family standing with his parents.
"Kaoru!" she shouted as she ran down the stairs and hurried down to him.
"Halina, hi," said Kaoru as he let Halina run into his arms and hold her.
"Ewe, now Halina has Hitachiin germs," said the triplets laughing at their own joke.
"Was that really necessary?" Akahele asked her brothers.
"I'm sure whatever germs we have is better than the virus you three shit heads carry," Hikaru called back up to the triplets. At that the triplets stopped laughing.
"What did you say to us?" asked Akoni.
"Boys stop!" ordered Mrs Kapule. Both she and her husband turned their attention back towards Kaoru holding Halina in his arms. "What do you think?"
"I think, I think," Mr. Kapule sputtered. Then he shook his head in frustration. "No it doesn't matter what I think! This can't happen! Not with him! Not with this family!" At that Kaoru and Halina turned their attention back towards Halina's father.
"But Dad," Halina tried to speak up.
"Halina I'm sorry but come here now! This is the last time you and this boy will be together like this. Now come here now!" her father ordered. Both Halina and Kaoru looked at each other.
"Honey may I just say one thing?" Mrs. Hitachiin said, "You don't have to do everything everyone tells you all the times. There comes a time when you'll be able to make up your own mind on certain things like love."
"That's nice but this is not that time," said Mr. Kapule.
"When will be the time then Dad?" Halina suddenly asked.
"What was that?" her father asked.
"When will be the time that I'm ready to make up my own mind and make my own choices in matters like love?" Halina asked.
"Halina," said her mother.
"And there she goes going off on stupid," said Akuma.
"You shut up!" Kaoru shouted up at him. The three brothers all laughed again. "I'm serious!" Kaoru insisted. That just made the brother laugh even harder.
"What a dork!" said Akoni.
"He said shut up!" Akahele also snapped at her brothers. At that the boys really did stop laughing.
"I apologize for my brothers' rude behavior Mr. Hitachiin," she said looking back down at Kaoru.
"Thank you," said Kaoru.
"However I will admit what my sister said was a bit idiotic," Akahele also added.
"Why is it so stupid for her to ask such a thing just because it's me?" asked Kaoru.
"Mr. Hitachiin we appreciate your concern and all," said Mr. Kapule, "But the thing is Halina is still our daughter and...,"
"And she's able to make some of her own choices for once in her life. I think so anyway," said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"Fine, Halina what do you think you should do? Be with the Hitachiin boy whom you barley know or us your loving family?" asked Mrs. Kapule.
"Honey we don't have to put it like that," said Mr. Kapule, "But what do you want to do Halina?"
"I, I want to be with Kaoru!" said Halina clinging to him. Kaoru held her back just as tight.
An awkward silence filled the room. The only one who was smiling about the whole situation was Mrs. Hitachiin. Everyone else looked shocked.
"Honey?" Mrs. Kapule looked to her husband for guiddness not sure what to do. Her husband looked torn. He took a deep breath.
"Halina, think about what you're saying," he warned. Halina ignored her father and kept her face buried in Kaoru's shoulder. Kaoru wrapped his arms around her even tighter.
"Fine!" Mr. Kapule said, "I that's the way it's going to be. Then get out of my sight!" He turned around mad. At that Halina lifted her head.
"What?" she asked.
"I don't even want to look at you at the moment!" snapped her father with his back to her.
"But Dad," Halina started to say. She wasn't sure what how to finish though.
"Halina, this is hard for us, so why don't we just give each other some space for the moment!" said her mother as she too turned and looked away from her daughter.
"Mom?" said Halina confused. She didn't know what to do.
"Halina, are you okay?" Kaoru asked.
"I I don't know what to do all of a sudden," said Halina.
"That's something that can happen when you make your own choices. It still doesn't mean its not the right choice," said Mrs. Hitachiin, "If you want to dear you can come with us for he night. Give your parents and your ahem sibling a chance to calm down."
"Can I?" Halina asked. She happened to notice her parents share a look of surprise.
"Only if you want to dear," said Mrs. Hitachiin. She too turned and looked towards her parents, "I can promise you nothing bad will happened between you and Kaoru. Your innocents will remain in tack. What do you say?"
"She's not that dumb," said her brothers.
"That's true," said Kaoru, "She's not that dumb. At least not the way you're thinking."
"Halina," said Akahele, "Maybe you should go with them. It may help you really figure out what you want and or need in this situation."
"You think I should go?" Halina asked surprised.
"Yes, for now," said Akahele.
"You don't even have to worry about an over night bag for now dear. We'll have clothes for you back at our place," said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"Alright, alright I'll go with you, for now," said Halina. She turned and looked at her parents one more time.
"Mom, Dad," she tried to say but neither would turn and look back at her.
"Let's just go dear. We'll try this again some other time okay?" said Mrs. Hitachiin as she and her boys led Halina to the door.
"Is she seriously going with him?!" asked one of her brothers.
"Shut up," said Akahele, "Good luck Halina."
Halina stopped for a moment and looked towards her sister. Akahele may not have been smiling but she still nodded her head in approval.
As Halina drove away from her home with the Hitachiin family she rested her head on Kaoru's shoulder. Kaoru put his arm around her.
"You okay?" he asked softly.
"I don't know," Halina admitted, "Yes and no I supposed."
"That can happen sometimes with choices. Again it doesn't mean it's not right choice though," said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"Thank you Mrs. Hitachiin,"said Halina.
"And just so you know I fully support this in every sense. Even if somehow you being with my son ruins my company!" said Mrs. Hitachiin.
"Really even if you go broke?" asked Halina.
"Oh youd don't have to worry about that," said Mrs. Hitachiin, "If my company was to suddenly to go belly up, and that includes my husband's company we won't have to worry about money until our great-great-great-great-great-great grandkids. That's how much we have set aside dear. So don't you worry about that. It's be kind of interesting if my company were to go belly up. I'd have to start from scratch all over again. Oh that'd be interesting!"
"Yeah that'd be great Mom," said Hikaru.
"And all in the name of love," Mrs. Hitachiin gave off a sigh thinking about it, "Love is such a wonderful thing huh?"
"Sure Mom," said Hikaru.
"You feel any better about?" Kaoru asked. Halina gave off a chuckle.
"A little," she said.
