If She's Crazy Then So Am I.
Romania was dreading today, today was the day that her old hospital was sending a doctor to assess whether or not she was insane. Yes they worded it as something like 'to assess her progress in adjusting to her new life,' but she new they were just making sure their Nation wasn't crazy.
Normally she wouldn't care what the doctors thought, but she'd finally been given some freedom and she didn't want that taken away just because she could see things others couldn't. Not to mention she'd finally made some friends, England and Norway were peculiar in their own way but they'd steadily bonded over their combined discovery of magic.
Maybe if she asked her friends they would be willing to help her convince them that she was as sane as any other Nation. With that plan in mind she went to go find her friends who were hopefully still having breakfast or else she wouldn't have the time to track them down. Fortunately, she arrived in the restaurant to find both eating with their respective crushes (although both are still in denial about it). Quickly she made her way over to England to whisper to her,
"Can I speak with you in private?" Receiving a slight nod in response she headed over to Norway and asked the same thing. Within a few minutes both had made their excuses and joined her in a quiet corner of reception.
"What's the problem?" England eventually asked after a few minutes of watching Romania pace.
"You guys know I'm not crazy, right?" England and Norway shared a glance, this was an odd way to start a conversation.
"You're completely insane," Norway stated, "What's your point?" Romania sighed she had been hoping she wouldn't have to explain the whole thing she didn't want her friends thinking differently of her.
"You know how you two gained the sight just after becoming Nations," the pair nodded, "Well I didn't, I always had it. After a few years my belief in the fae stopped being cute and my parents became worried. By the time I was twelve they had given up on trying to find a doctor who could help and just had me locked away, hidden, the family's forgotten embarrassment." Romania glanced at her friends and saw neither looked happy, England looked angry (at who Romania wasn't sure) and Norway, well Norway looked like normal but after spending time with her Romania could tell she was fighting not to show her anger.
"They just got rid of you as if you were some inconvenient pet?" England spat, her voice laced with venom, Romania simply nodded sadly, she hoped her friends weren't too mad at her parents after all they were doing the best they could, but it was just a passing thought as Norway spoke up,
"I understand that that's terrible, but you've never brought it up before why now?" Romania sighed slightly relieved, her friends hadn't left her at her admission of where she'd spent her teenage years so maybe they would help.
"Well someone's coming today to assess whether or not I need to go back there, and I can't go back, not now I finally have my life back." Romania felt herself begin to panic slightly at the thought of being in a hospital again.
"And you can't lie about seeing them." Norway murmured, all three had been told that denying magic (even if they know it's a lie) will weaken their powers and could be potentially harmful to them (not to mention every child knows saying 'I don't believe in fairies' kills one.). Romania felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see England beside her,
"Do you want us to help convince them you're not insane?" she asked,
"If you can, I'm not sure what else to do."
"It'll be hard neither of us speaks Romanian, and you translating for us runs the risk of them claiming that you're changing our words to help yourself." Norway muttered thoughtfully, causing Romania's hope to dim slightly, she was right there was a chance that even with their help the doctor would still deem her crazy. Catching movement out the corner of her eye she saw a familiar doctor heading towards her, Norway and England must have seen him too because England spoke to her quietly,
"You go and talk to them, we'll stay here and if you need us we'll try and do something to help." Romania nodded before going to greet the doctor.
She had barely got the greeting out before the doctor started quizzing her about her new life, clearly wanting to get his work done quickly so he could do more enjoyable things. It also became abundantly clear, as she was asked about the things she saw, that she was failing whatever test she was taking and they just wanted to take the easy route and send her back. Panicking she glanced at her friends, who were whispering to each other as they watched, England holding her spell-book open. Upon seeing Romania's panicked face they seemed to reach an agreement.
Coming over England muttered (what Romania assumed was) an English apology and placed her hand on the doctor's shoulder as Norway took her other hand,
"O vos modicæ fidei, potest esse qui negat amet, donec cras nunc a vere potes videre oculis tuis." England chanted, Romania could practically see the magic flowing from Norway to England and into the human as the spell was cast. Once it was complete the doctor stumbled slightly, blinking rapidly, and with a quick draw of a rune in the air Norway summoned her troll. The doctor seemed stunned and Romania took a guess at what the spell did,
"Mă crezi acum?" She laughed, the docote didn't answer instead he turned and ran from the hotel.
"I have to say I don't think you're going to be committed by them anymore." England said watching him go. Unable to think of a better response Romania turned and hugged her friends tightly,
"Mulțumesc foarte mult." She whispered.

Mă crezi acum: Do you believe me now (Romanian)
Mulțumesc foarte mult: Thank you so much (Romanian)
I am so sorry that this wasn't up last week, I have just been so busy. At the moment I have my final year university dissertation to write and exams at the start of next term to revise for so it is possible this will happen again. I apologize in advance if it does but I will make sure I never miss two weeks in a row.
Thanks for reading.
