A/N: Fact Six: Peteano was a character I had stuck in my head for quite some time and he would be perfect in the story. He was also an inspiration from Jester from DMC 3 although a bit more whimsical.

A Certain Stylish Devil
Chapter Fifty Four: Living Legend
(Describe the feats of the legendary dark knight)
Everyone stared at Dante as soon they heard the name of Sparda. Dante laughed at this. "What's with the staring? Am I that handsome?"
They were all not laughing at the joke. Out of everyone in the group, Touma was the only one wondering why everyone was so on edge. "Can someone tell me what's going on? Who's this Sparda guy is?"
Tsuchimikado adjusted his sunglasses again. "It starts with an old story dating back two thousand ago. A story about a how a powerful demon called Sparda fought against his own kind for the sake of the human race." Tsuchimikado explained.
The level zero raised an eyebrow. "Two thousand years ago?"
"Indeed." Stiyl took out a cigarette "The legend is well known even in the English Puritan church. However records of that time couldn't be found anywhere so it was nothing more than a legend." He blew out a puff of smoke. "Until we heard the words 'son of Sparda.'
Dante chuckled. "So all of you are from a church. Tell me; do you an old head priest hell-bent on world domination?" Again they didn't laugh at the joke. "Point is that church and I don't get along well. However I'm not surprised you heard of my old man's tale. A lot of people take interest in that. How is another thing."
"One thing is for certain." The blonde walked up to the demon hunter. "You being the son of a legendary demon proves that he did exist long ago."
"I refuse." Everyone turned to Kanzaki. "I refuse to believe Sparda existed. He couldn't exist He's nothing more than a legend! A myth!" Kanzaki shouted.
Dante laughed at her reaction. "I never would've thought I'd meet someone who didn't believe in my old man's tale."
"Then tell us why. Tell us why a demon would save all of humanity?" The saint asked.
Dante held up a finger. "Ah you don't get it do you? Tell me what reason a demon has to turn against the other demons for a human. Can anyone guess?" They all stared at him like they had no clue. "Jeez the lot of you are clueless aren't ya?"
"Well how are we supposed to know why he did it?" Touma asked.
Never has Dante ran into a group that was this dense. They heard of his father's tale but that's all. At least the enemies he fought before knew what they were doing when they heard about the legend but this church seemed to be a bit out there. "Well then…I'll just tell you. The reason why he betrayed the entire demon race…" He held up a finger. "Was because he did it for a human. A woman to be exact."
That answer wasn't what they expected. "A human? He betrayed the whole demon race for a human?" That made even less sense to the level zero.
Index was confused about what the devil hunter said. "I don't get it. He betrayed a whole race of demons for a human?"
To hear that the legendary dark knight Sparda betrayed his entire race for a human sounded farfetched to them but since they'll meeting the son of the dark knight, they would have to believe it. "So you're telling us that this Sparda guy basically saved your-"
"Let's leave the small details out." Dante interrupted Touma "Now that all of you caught up with that history lesson, I'll be taking my leave." The devil hunter started to walk away.
"Hold on" Dante stopped by Stiyl's words. "You still have a lot to explain about what's going on in the city. We're well aware that demons are here but we still don't know what their plan is. What their goal is. You're the only one who has an idea what's going on."
Dante turned around to face the group. "If there's one thing you should know about demons is that they always like to think big. Whatever they have planned for this city is called the Hell Star formation. I don't know much of it myself but that's what their scheming." Kanzaki, Stiyl, and Tsuchimikado had a feeling that Dante wasn't giving them all the details. "Are we done playing twenty questions now?"
Tsuchimikado walked up to the devil hunter. "Not yet. There's one more thing." He held out his hand. "Hand over the briefcase."
Dante chuckled at he said. "For a second there it sounded like you were serious."
The blonde wasn't laughing. "I am. That weapon you have there can destroy this city in an instant. I'll say it again only this one time. Hand over Pandora's Box." Everyone else was surprised when they heard those words.
Dante sighed at his attitude. "No chance. If you want one, get your own. Anything I find, I keep."
Stiyl narrowed his eyes when he heard the name. "That briefcase is Pandora's Box? The one that's said to hold all the world's troubles? If that's true, how did he get his hands on it?"
The tension between all of them was broken when a ring tone was blaring out of Dante's coat. "Excuse me while I take this call." Touma couldn't believe he was taking a call at this time considering the situation he was in. Dante took out the phone and answered. "Yeah what is it? I'm the middle of something here." The next expression he made was one he rarely made. He narrowed his eyes and he made a frown. It was obvious he didn't like what he heard. "Damn it. You're seeing it right now. Fine I'm on my way." He ended the call and put his cell back into his coat pocket. "Well sorry for the interruption but I got something else to do. We'll save this dance next time." He looked at Touma. "By the way kid, your friend and the brat are fine so you don't to worry about that." Dante held up his hand. "Adios" He snapped his fingers and suddenly he was gone.
Everyone was surprised by the sudden action. Index ran to where Dante was standing. "Hey how did he do that?"
While Index was trying to figure out Dante's quicksilver, Tsuchimikado had other thoughts. "The Hell Star formation. Just the name alone sounds like its bad news. Well whatever it is, it spells bad news for the city."

Mikoto stared at her phone for a few seconds before she put it away in her pocket. "Did you tell him?" She turned to Kuroko who just arrived.
She nodded at the question. "Yeah and like I thought, he didn't like it." Mikoto stared at the site in front of her. "And he's not the only one. How could something like this have happen?"
Kuroko was looking at the same direction. "I'm wondering the same thing. Perhaps this was the wrong day to take a breather." Both continued to see the firemen put out the fire from Riley's house that was in front of them while the EMTs took Akira to the ambulance. No one had seen where Izumi or Riley went or know where they were.

Inside a dark hallway, Takashi and Kureha were on their way to see the mistress. Kojiro already went ahead. "Why the hell were we called back? We could've taken on that devil hunter if went serious mode." He heard Kureha laugh. "What's so funny?"
She smiled at the other demon ESPer. "You'll see."
They both entered a large room with a clear glass ceiling with stars that are visible. At the other end of the room was the mistress. "I see Hayate did not make it."
Both of them knelled to down to show respect to her. "No ma'am. That devil hunter guy killed him with a weird weapon briefcase." Takashi explained. "We could've taken him on if Kojiro didn't butt in."
"Ha I doubt the two of you would've done anything significant." Kojiro walked in. "The two of you wouldn't even come close to a man of that skill."
Takashi growled at what Kojiro said. "Screw you old man! Why the hell were we called back anyway?"
The Mistress chuckled. "Kureha had the curtesy of calling me saying that the son of Sparda was with the humans from that church. After that call, I made another one. The result is this." She snapped her fingers. A glowing orb appeared in the center of the room. The orb faded and it revealed Riley lying on the ground. "Luckily those two girls weren't at the house at the time so her delivery was without a problem."
Riley started to open her eyes. The last thing she remembered was Akira protecting her from someone or something and she had no idea what happened to Izumi. Her vision started to return and found herself in an oddly familiar place. She stood up and looked around. "Where am I?"
"So you're awake now and this time without that pesky barrier protecting you."
Riley turned to where she heard that familiar voice. She saw the Mistress sitting in her chair. "Who are you? What's going on? Where's Akira-chan and Izumi-chan?!"
"That is not of your concern. You've eluded us for the last time young girl. Now you'll complete the purpose you were made for." She stood up and walked over the scared girl.
Terror was quickly welling up inside Riley. "Please no. Someone…help me please." She shut her eyes tightly fearing what would happen next.
The Mistress was about to place her hand on top of Riley when a bright light emitted out of the young girl. The light pushed back her back while she had to cover her eyes. The same could be said with the other three in the room. "That is far enough!" The light died down. There was a veil of light covering Riley's body and her eyes were golden as well. "You will not harm this child any longer!"
At first the Mistress was surprised that a child could do this but then she smiled as she instantly recognized the voice. "So that is where you were hidden all this time. Inside your own creation. How cleaver of you Hirinda."
Hirinda glared at the other woman. "And you have not changed in the last two millennia at all Aveil. You are still trying to finish what you started a long time ago. I will not let you harm my daughter."
Aveil giggled at what the possessed girl said. "You know as well as I do she is the key in opening the gates. Not you, those annoying brats or the son of Sparda will stop me. The formation will arrive tomorrow and this city will be nothing but an example for what the rest of the world will experience."
"Not if I have anything to say about that!" An orb of light formed in her hand. "I'll stop you here if that's what it takes."
The Mistress chuckled and made an orb of pulsing blue light. "Seems your sense of humor hasn't aged at all. Damaged or not, she can still useful. Now the question is how well you can do in that state Hirinda?" Both of them ran to each other yelling. Both of their lights collided with a larger flash of light that blinded everyone else.
