This chapter is dedicated to all my new reviews that just started reading this book. Since I didn't actually read it before I started writing again after my long long pause I hope you guys can tell me if there are any inconsistencies in this book :)
DISCLAIMER: I OWN THIS STORY'S PLOT AND CHARACTERS.
Hearts in hand.
Sloan how could you do this to your own brother. You're his elder brother; family is supposed to look out for each other. Not destroy them on purpose."
He came closer to me like a predator stalking his prey.
He came close to my neck and thinking he's going to bite me, not knowing how much more blood could be sucked from me before I was nothing but a corpse I said barely above a whisper "Please don't kill me Sloan. You know him, it'll devastate him. He won't be able to recover from this."
"Scream." He whispered so low I could barely hear him.
I was confused. Why would he say that? Before I could think anymore he grabbed my neck on the wound Lincoln had left.
The pain made me involuntarily scream and that's when he whispered in my ear "Listen to me; I'm going to get you out of here. I love my brothers more than anything which is why I made sure- keep screaming, or else they'll hear."
I took a deep breath and screamed as loud as I could although Sloan no longer had applied any pressure on my wound.
"I made sure my hatred and want for the throne would supersede anything else and I would be approached by whoever it is killing all these girls. I will get you out of here don't you worry."
He let go of me and stepped away from me. I was relieved to hear this. I had not expected it at all. Where one cousin had betrayed David his brother who I thought hated him and was the one to betray him was not a traitor at all.
The next series of events were so fast I didn't even have the chance to register what was happening.
Just as Sloan had taken out his phone and dialed David's number there was a blur as the door opened. There seemed to be lots of rushed movements and it was all over in a matter of 5 seconds.
The sight in front of me was one of those heartbreaking moments where you could comprehend it but refuse to acknowledge it.
I let out a heartbreaking cry as I saw a hole in Sloan's chest where his heart was meant to be.
His face distorted in a mixture of pain, surprise and an expression that was quite similar to that of failure. I can't imagine what must have been going in his head, hoping he could hear me I kept repeating "It's going to be okay." Hoping he would know his effort was not totally in vain even though it was.
As he dropped to his knees and into a heap on the floor I finally saw the man who had done this deed.
He had a nasty scar above his eye and had a huge scary built. He was scarier looking than Sloan.
Tears streamed down my face and I couldn't comprehend the words coming out of my mouth.
In a matter of seconds he was in front of me and grabbed my hair pulling it backwards. My injured neck being strained and the pain from the pulling of my hair hurt like hell.
He picked up Sloan's phone next and when there was silence with my obvious burst of tears I could hear David's voice on the other end of the phone.
"Let her go you son of a bitch! I will find you and torture you till you regret ever being born into this world you pathetic motherfucker."
The scarred man chuckled and cut the phone. He seemed to be enjoying himself. Was he the one they referred to as Boss?
I hung there crying and feeling terribly in pain due to the bites and the heartbreak I felt.
Sloan would never get to tell David how much he loved him. Enough to sacrifice his life and reputation for him. He hadn't done this for me that I would stay alive; he did this for his brother so he could live his life without another burden to carry. And I wasn't so sure that despite his sacrifice I would be let out of this hell hole alive to tell David his heroic tale.
The man with the scar kept watching me silently sitting on a chair that I hadn't see before. It made me very uncomfortable but it's not like I had a choice.
After what seemed like 3 hours we were again joined with Lincoln.
"Oh wow what happened here?" He asked the scarred man but didn't get a response.
That brought fresh tears in my eyes all over again.
"Oh dearie." Lincoln said putting his finger under my chin and pulling it up. "Don't waste your tears over a traitor."
"You're the traitor." I said vehemently.
"Well at least I'm a smart one. I wouldn't be stupid enough to call from this facility. Everything is monitored very closely. Outgoing calls, people's mind which is why you can't reach David, yadda yadda. You know the drill. Got to be efficient if you're going to challenge the most powerful man on this planet." He smirked.
"Fuck you." I spit. I wasn't going to give into my fear. I will not give him that satisfaction.
"You know you want to." He winked and grabbed me pulling me towards him.
I struggled as much as I could as he tried taking my pants off to make a point but the scarred man cleared his throat.
"Take it easy I'm just having some fun old man." Lincoln said annoyed.
Meanwhile the old man had also received a call on his phone yet he had not spoken. It seemed like he was listening to instructions as he nodded.
"Do what you want Lincoln but trust me when I say David will find you he is going to give you a slow and painful death."
He slapped me so hard that I knew it would leave a bruise. "Shut up bitch! Just shut up! Shut up! Shut. Up!"
He said with madness in his eyes and with each shut up he landed blows on my body.
I could feel my ribs and a lot of other bones either cracked or broken.
Next thing I know the scarred man had also pulled his heart out.
Lincoln had a surprised look on his face as he fell to his knees.
As soon as he fell the scarred face looked directly to my face and his hand reached towards my face.
Expecting his to land a blow on my body I recoiled but he softly touched my cheek and vanished.
As I hung from my chains unable to hold myself up, battered and bruised I cried from the pain, both mental and physical.
I could feel my lip and cheek swollen and bloody from the bruise. My neck and shoulder injured from the bites. My rib cage felt on fire and so did my leg.
Half an hour later the doors opened again and I just wasn't ready to face who else had betrayed David. I knew for sure that Sloan, Lincoln and that man were not the only ones involved in this operation.
However when the man who had entered had not stepped closer to where I was or moved a muscle I had to look up.
I couldn't stop the cry of relieve that escaped my lips.
"David."
Did anyone see that coming? I felt bad for Sloan. :P
