Emily and Britney's Playdate Part Three:

10:19 PM

We're on our third round of food, still eating away. Small talk is bearable but still weird because, well, what the hell are we supposed to talk about? Even Britney is okay with being quiet for a bit. Not only does it give us time to eat, but there is no more extreme hateful vengeance between us. Maybe it's now a simple vengeance.

Also, we may just be tired. We did eat a lot of food.

"Smile," Britney says.

I look up and she takes a photo of me. I curse her out because I was in the middle of eating but she looks at the photo in disbelief.

"How do you still look good mid-bite!" Britney screams, slamming her phone down on the table.

"Could you send me that pic?" I ask.

"Sure."

I check my phone the moment she sends it and I got to admit that I look fucking fabulous.

"Hey, Britney, Emily," someone calls.

The two of us look and see our football player chaperones approach us. Their dates for the evening are behind them. Since they're all wearing their jackets and holding their bags, they're ready to call it a night.

"Give these to Xavier when he arrives," one of the football players tells us.

He hands me a stack of papers and I can tell that these are their bills for the night.

"Alright," I respond.

"We know that we're supposed to stay here the full night to watch you two, but we gotta drive our ladies home. We figure that you two aren't going anywhere if you stayed up to now," another player says.

"I'm too full to move," Britney says with a small laugh even though she's starting to eat dessert.

"Here, take some food for the ride home," I offer, opening up the table to them and their dates. "Take as much as you like."

We let them all have a free-for-all for whatever food we have left and they all take a good serving. I'm actually not sure if there is still more food to come but I wouldn't be surprised if there was. Anyways, as they all leave, I take a sip of my drink and glance at all their receipts. I do some mental math of their totals and tips and add mine and Britney's. Then, I realize how much Xavier is going to end up paying for the night.

Not on my watch.

I call over a waiter and hand him one of my credit cards, giving tips that are the same amount as the total. I mean, we were all here for five hours.

"What the hell are you doing?" Britney asks.

"Paying," I respond.

"No," Britney responds, taking out her wallet. "Emily - "

"Look, I know you don't want to mooch on my money because you want to make your own way and don't want my pity, but let me do this. For starters, I can afford it and still have tons of dough. Second, Xavier needs money to continue taking you on dates. If he wanted to do this for us, then let me do this for both of you."

Britney looks at me before nodding her head. I give her a smile before signing the receipts.

"You're unbelievable," Britney tells me.

I can't tell if that's a compliment or not, but I reapply my lipstick. Sounded like one to me.

Closing time is in less than ten minutes. The restaurant is clearing out and the staff is cleaning up. Britney and I still have food on our table that we're forcing ourselves to finish. We offer some to anyone who passes by and people take a sample. Britney even wraps some in napkins and shoves it in her purse and jacket pocket. (Those are definitely for Apollo. I don't care what she says, she cares about him in some way).

The front door swings open and we see Xavier walk it. He prances up to our table and stands behind Britney's chair. He looks at both of us with shock as he eats whatever remains on our table.

"I'm surprised you two actually stayed the night," Xavier tells us.

"I had no other plans and there was free food," Britney responds.

Xavier perks up a little. "That reminds me…"

Xavier starts to take out his wallet because he planned to pay for the night but I stop him.

"Relax, Rogers, I paid for all your dates," I tell him.

Xavier puts his wallet back in his pocket. "Stark, you didn't have to - "

"You didn't calculate the bills, you idiot, you'd be broke."

"But - "

"Shut up, Xavier," Britney tells him. "Let our sugar mama pay."

I cringe as Xavier laughs.

"Never call me that," I tell her.

"That was the nicest thing I've ever called you aside from a boss-ass bitch."

Before I could say anything, Britney's phone rings. She looks to see who it is and excuses herself because it's Jane. Britney walks outside of the restaurant to take the call as Xavier sits down in her chair.

"So, how was your playdate?" Xavier asks me. He sounds like those annoying parents that always want to know what you did in school even if you did absolutely nothing.

"Fine," I state like a child answering those stupid questions.

Xavier raises an eyebrow.

"I'm serious," I tell him. "Okay, it was dreadful at first and we both didn't want to talk to each other, but it got better. We ordered a lot of food and chatted quite a bit."

"Are you friends yet?" He asks.

Before I could answer, Britney walks back in, sliding her phone in her pocket.

"Okay, so, I have to be home soon," Britney says. "What are you two doing?"

"He's asking if we're friends," I tell her.

"Oh…" Britney nods her head. "Do you want to be friends?"

"I think we have no choice. Why? Do you actually want to be friends with me?"

"I'd rather set myself on fire."

My interest peaks. "I would love to watch that."

Xavier coos a little. "Awe, look at you two besties planning activities together."

"That makes you sound like such a dad, it's nauseating," I tell him.

"At least we know for sure that he's Angela's twin," Britney adds.

Both of us laugh and Xavier isn't amused one bit. For a split second, he looked like he regretted planning this whole night, but then he smiles.

"Xavier could be a businessman," Britney says, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"In what way?" I question.

"He sold me on a friendship with you."

"In that case, I hope you kept the receipt."

Xavier groans. "Dear god, what have I done?"

"Don't blame Thor on this," I mockingly scold.

"The King of Asgard did nothing wrong," Britney scolds the same way.

"Shame on you."

"Shame on you indeed." Britney's phone rings again and she backs out to go answer it. "Now, I have to go so I'll meet you two outside as I call Jane again and tell her that I'm on my way."

I look at Xavier with a bright smile and he's happy as well. We both stand up and make our way outside. Britney's at the end of the street, chatting on the phone with her, now Aunt Jane.

"Emily, thank you for this," Xavier tells me as we start walking up to Britney.

"You're not quite welcome yet," I respond. "You owe me."

"I could've paid myself."

"Not that." I grab his arm and stop him. "The night is still young and you are going to get that girl to be your girlfriend."

Xavier's face goes pale. "What? No, I can't do that. Not yet."

"Do it or I will reenact a night like this where you two won't leave until you can call each other boyfriend/girlfriend."

"Emily - "

"Britney!"

I start running ahead to catch up to her.
