Chapter 49 is now up! For you, there will be 5 chapters left after this one. For me, there is three. ;(

Thank you for everything, and thank you for reading most (not all) of this- I really do appreciate this! :D I'm gonna miss writing this when its over.

Also, there might be a period in November when I won't be uploading or editing on fanfiction- mostly because I'll probably be too depressed to. :( Just warning you that if there is no activity from me, that there is a reason, and not because I have abandoned everything.

Anyway, lets get to chapter 49!

Chapter 49- Final Fight

Spencer was the first one to act, jumping onto the Amphitere's neck whilst Lightning and Sazh began firing bullets at the monster.

Meanwhile, the Amphitere began soaring through the air, doing flips and turns, trying to shake Spencer of its back, potentially killing him instantly (Or so it thought). Spencer in the meanwhile, was grabbing hold of the creature's neck, managing to grasp onto the cursed life and making sure that today did not end with a death.

Lightning and Sazh, on the ground, realised that it was about to fly away. Staying on the ground, trying to follow it on the ground, would be a useless strategy. The Amphitere would be long gone by the time they began to catch up. So, they also jumped onto it, and grabbed onto a dislodged scale as it finally flew away from Cornelia, New York.

It realised the threat, and soared up into the clouds, trying to knock the three L'cie off in turn, before flying beneath them as they fell- after all, the three of them did look appetising, especially because they were about to put up good resistance against its attempts of killing them.

There were some moments of fear though, as Spencer watched Lightning slide down the Amphitere's back, and towards the creature's foot. Spencer yelled at Sazh, asking to make sure that she was fine and had not died, because…. He could not put up with an eternal life without her.

And when Sazh nearly fell off a couple of moments later, Spencer and Lightning nearly cried as well, but luckily, Sazh had managed to grab a hold of the Amphitere's tail, and had barely survived.

Meanwhile, the three L'cie and the Amphitere had long left the US by now, and were flying over the Atlantic Ocean, soaring above cruise ships, who were staring up in awe and fear. When the creature soared downwards, eager to get its next meal, this was when Lighting knew she had to act.

She slowly clawed her way up the back of the Amphitere, using a dislodged scale to reach Spencer, before she asked for his hand. When he gave it to her, she clawed up further, trying to reach the creature's face.

"Sazh! Spencer!" Lightning yelled, "I am going to shoot the creature in the eyes, and then I'm going to try and direct it towards the ocean or a mountain, so that it dies. Grab on tightly."

Sazh and Spencer nodded, and Lightning finally reached the Amphitere's neck. She looked at the number of bullets she had, before she shot both of the creature's eyes out.

A huge wail could be heard from the creature, as it quickly fell down towards the ground. Lightning grimaced, trying to steer the dragon away from human life, making sure that no more innocents died. She scanned the area below her, and saw a mountain in the distance. She moved the dragon's neck, stirring it towards the mound of rocks.

It landed face first in the mountain, causing the three L'cie to fall of the creature's back. When they reached the ground, Sazh and Lightning summoned their Eidolons, and attacked the weakened, blinded monster, waiting for it to die.

Meanwhile, Spencer was casting a mix of healing magic (on his allies) and offensive magic, further killing the Amphitere. Finally, it slackened, and collapsed.

It was dead.

The focus had been completed.

And for the three L'cie, it felt like a bittersweet victory.
