Chapter Fifty-One
It was quiet and peaceful the next morning. Mar was still sound asleep, having had a hard time falling asleep the night before. She had been sure that the menace was going to find some way of getting to her, and only Tobi volunteering to let her stay with him could make her calm the hell down. Really, it wasn't as though she hadn't used him as a mattress before. Mumbling something in her sleep, too low to possibly be actual words, Mar tightened the grip she had on the body next to her.
Unfortunately, this was the Akatsuki base and quiet and peaceful were not the two words usually used to describe it. At least not when more than one pair was present. So it really was only a matter of time before the door slammed open and an irate Deidara barged into the room. "Tobi!" he yelled, glaring at the lump visible under the blankets. "Where the hell did you hide my clay?! Yeah!" The look of rage melted off his face when the blankets shifted. Jaw dropping in disbelief, Deidara blinked twice before deciding that it wasn't a hallucination.
"What the fuck are Mar and Itachi doing in your bed?!" If the last shout had been loud, this one boomed. Several doors farther down the hall opened as half-asleep and furious faces peered out of them. "Shut the hell up, Deidara." Kisame growled, eyes half open. "But-!" Deidara protested, pointing into Tobi's room. "I don't care if the base is caving in, shut the hell up or become sword chow." With that final threat Kisame slammed his door shut again. The other rudely awoken people glared as they followed suit.
"Nn." Mar cracked an eye open and glared at the shadow standing in the doorway. "Go 'way." The body she was hugging tried to move, found it couldn't and promptly lay still again. "Yeah, sempai. what she said." Tobi whined, pulling the blanket back over his head. He had taken the mask off to sleep, cause really who could sleep with that type of mask on? Tobi was on the side of the bed farthest from the door, however, so Deidara still couldn't see his face. Mar lifted an arm to pull the blanket farther up on her end only to find herself pinned. Craning her head as far to the side as she could, Mar saw a head of dark hair behind her.
There really weren't that many people with dark hair in the base at the moment. Tobi was in front of her, so yeah. Not him. "'Tachi, what are you doing here?" Mar asked groggily. He had definitely not been there when she'd gone to sleep. "Sleeping." Came the response, muffled due to the fact Itachi had buried his face into her neck when the door had slammed open. "Oh. Mkay." Mar turned back around and buried her own face into Tobi's neck. Seriously, it was not the first time Mar had found herself in this position.
Sadly, Deidara could not say the same. "'Mkay'?" He repeated incredulously. "That's really all you have to say, hm?" Itachi pulled the blanket over his and Mar's heads in an attempt to block out both the light and Deidara's voice. "Stop ignoring me!" A kunai flew past his head and stuck into the door frame. "...fine. I'm going, but I will be back, yeah." The door shut softly behind him, and Mar breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

A few hours after Deidara's freak out in the hall Mar stumbled her way into the living area. She hadn't been able to get back to sleep after all the yelling. The most Mar had been able to do was drift in the warm fuzzy place between being asleep and awake, and she was set on punching Deidara in the face the moment she found him. Luckily, Deidara found her first. "You!" he pointed at her dramatically. "What the hell did you three do last night, hm?" At least he wasn't yelling this time. Mar glared at him blearily, still trying to rub the tired feeling out of her eyes. "Forget last night, what the hell were you thinking this morning?" Mar countered.
"I was thinking that Tobi had two extra people in his bed that really shouldn't have been there! Yeah!" And we were back to the yelling. "So answer the question!" Mar slumped into a recliner, leaning back and closing her eyes. "I didn't want to sleep by myself, and Tobi offered. I have no idea where 'Tachi came from, he was not there when I went to bed." Deidara gave her a suspicious look, as though he didn't buy her story. "And that's it?"
"What were you expecting? A steamy threesome?" Mar asked dryly. "I think someone's been reading too much Icha Icha."
"Who's been reading Icha Icha?" Tobi asked as he bounced into the room. Mar winced at the energy level he was demonstrating. Tobi and Itachi had been able to go right back to sleep after Deidara had left, those lucky bastards, and Mar was incredibly jealous of this fact. "No one!" Deidara snapped, swinging a fist as Tobi bounced past him. He missed as Tobi ducked at the last minute before tripping over air and landing in Mar's lap. 'Which he totally just did on purpose.' Mar thought sourly, as she tried lifting Tobi into a less painful position. Guy had some incredibly sharp elbows.
"I wouldn't mind reading Icha Icha." Mar said wistfully. Both Tobi and Deidara turned to stare at her. "What? I'm human, I have needs." Mar squirmed under the looks she was getting, searching the room for a distraction. Sasori entered the room at that exact moment and Mar launched herself across the room at him. "Save me from the stares!" Sasori rolled his eyes as Mar's arms wrapped around his neck. "Save yourself." And he promptly dumped her onto the couch. This was an improvement over being dumped onto the floor, however, and Mar smiled at the small victory.
