"Where's Hawk?" Star asked the look of horror on her face was crushing. "I assumed he was with you. Grace and I arrived together. I figured since you and he arrived to Storybrook by other means that you two would be together. Oh Jefferson! Where's our baby?"

"I don't know, Sweetheart." Panic was rising within him.

"We thought maybe if we traveled with the villagers, we'd get to our old house and find you and baby Hawk." Grace said. He recognized the boy who was Grace's playmate. Caleb? Or was it Cody? He couldn't think right now. He had to think. Who would have answers who might know where his son was? Even if he had to travel other lands, he would. Regina had his hat. She caused this. She might know.

"Regina! She'll be our best lead in finding him. We WILL find him. Even if I have to die trying."

"Papa!" Grace said. The caravan had stopped. Others were looking on.

"I need to get to the Queen's castle." Jefferson said already planning on leaving immediately.

"I'm going with you." Star said.

Jefferson nodded, but what to do with Grace? He could run and cover the territory much faster and he had no doubt Star would be able to keep up. But Grace would slow them down. On the other hand, he didn't want to leave his daughter alone while he went in search of his son.

Anton must have sensed the inner dilemma Jefferson was in because he spoke up. "I'd be more than happy to watch over Grace. Once we get to our destination, wherever it is, I'll wait for your return and then I can continue on home. I've been gone this long a detour won't hurt. It's not like anyone is waiting for me." Grace smiled and slipped her hand in his.

"We were traveling to our old village Papa. I know the way home from the market square."

Home. He hadn't thought about that tiny shack of a house in quite a while. He supposed that was as good of a meeting place as any.

"That does sound like a reasonable plan. Anton, I'd be more than happy to direct you to the beanstalk from the village square. Once I return with my son." Jefferson told the giant. Unfortunately he did not know how long it would be until his return, nor where he would need to travel to. Jefferson hugged his daughter fiercely. "I love you, Baby, with all my heart. I wouldn't be leaving you unless it was absolutely necessary. I love your brother too and he needs to be with us."

"I know Papa. I understand. I'll wait for you. "

Jefferson set her down and Star embraced her tightly as well. "Be good, Darling. Know that I love you too." She told her step daughter as she kissed her head. With a wave from Anton, they were off.

Jefferson was definitely out of shape and had not done that much running in quite a long time. But there was no time to stop and rest, finding his son and quickly was the most important thing at the time. He was driven by sheer will. Star in the other hand was running along following his lead effortlessly.

They eventually reached the castle but no one was there. "Perhaps their group is traveling toward the castle as we were." Star suggested.

"That's a possibility. But the big question is traveling from where?"They set out traveling further past the castle.

Jefferson took the main roads in hopes of seeing them. It was heading toward late afternoon when they came upon another caravan. Much smaller than the one that was heading to his village. Further up he could make out the Evil Queen. She was so deserving of that title.

"Regina!" Jefferson shouted. "Where is my son?!"

She turned and scoffed. "Please, Jefferson, don't tell me you've found yourself separated from another child? His whereabouts are not my concern."

Jefferson saw red. All he could see was his hope of finding his son disintegrate. He snapped and stormed straight up to her and put his hands around her throat. "It's all your fault! This is all your selfish doing! Where. Is. My. Son?"

He could hear commotion in the back ground, but he did not care. He heard his wife yelling his name. Someone else, perhaps the Prince? "Hey, Mate, let the Queen go." As he squeezed, he felt someone forcefully pull him off her. He fell to the ground with the unknown blonde man.

Jefferson attempted to swing but the woodsman expertly dodged his hand. He stood up and went toward Regina again. The woodsman blocked him. "I have no quarrel with you, mate, but I cannot allow you to harm the woman."

"It's all her doing. My son is missing. He's not with me, nor his mother. She sent her son away. To safety. Where is mine?" He pushed forward and he was again held back.

"You say your child is missing? How old is the boy? Is he perhaps under the age of two years?" The blonde asked.

"Yes!" Star answered. "His name is Hawk. Do you know where he is?"

"All the infants were accounted for. One, the oldest, was taken to his father's village."

Star cried out in relief. The princess came up, "Jefferson, Red took your baby. She's on her way to your home. She might even be there by now." The princess kindly stated.

Star hugged her. "He's here? He made it back? Oh thank you! Thank you!"

Jefferson scowled toward Regina but said nothing.

"Here, take a bread, I'm sure you're famished from your travels. I'm sure soon you will be reunited with your child." The princess said.

Jefferson cast a side apologetic glance to the archer. He had a quiver on his back. But he said nothing. "No worries, Mate. I have a boy. I'd be mad with worry myself if I couldn't find him." He said as he clapped him on the shoulder.

Jefferson set off on the very long journey to his home village. The pace was slower mainly due to both adults exhaustion. They traveled well into the darkness led only by the moon but soon even that was not enough to see.

"Sweetheart. I'm sorry but we have to stop. There are many dangers , especially off the road. We have to rest."

"But we have to get to Hawk." Star insisted.

"I know. We will." He put his arm around her and noticed the chill she had. Her dress wasn't nearly warm enough for these night temperatures. "Please Sweetheart." He said as he gently pulled her toward a large tree. He wished he had more traveling supplies like a lantern. He put his long coat around her as he sat with his back up against the hard uncomfortable tree. Star sat and settled in between his legs and leaned up against his chest. "It will be light soon and we'll start out again."

Star could not relax. She kept thinking about getting to Hawk. Jefferson held his arms around his wife as she cried for her baby.

Very far away, a boy cried for his Mama. "Hush Little One, you'll see your Mama soon," said the woman in a red cloak.
