Hey, guys!
So, I just realized something. January 4th till March 6th was two months. So, I changed March 6th to April 6th. Just saying, in case you were wondering, since I say it in this chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own Austin & Ally, or anything else you may recognize in this story.
Enjoy! :)
Ally's P.O.V.
"Ready?" Austin asks me, both of us facing the school doors.
I take a shaky breath and nod. "Let's get this over with."
We both get inside and heads immediately turn to us. We're still undercover, but I guess it's because I missed the last three months of school.
"Do you think you'll be okay with all the staring?" Austin asks me.
I nod. "I'll be fine. I'm used to be stared at as Ally. And even when they'll know who we really are, I'll only have to survive for a bit less than two months. I'll be okay."
He smiles and nods. "Well, I'll go talk to Mr. Zimmer. See you later." He kisses my forehead and walks away. I walk in the opposite direction to my locker.
"Alicia!" I hear someone call. I turn around to see Carrie running toward me. I wave at her. Carrie's in my Science class. She's a bit of a nerd and we're not really close friends, but we still talk to each other from time to time. Another thing about Carrie is that she can be a bit clueless, and she also has a very bubbly personality.
"Hey, Carrie." I greet her when she reaches me. "How's it going?"
"Where have you been?!" She ignores my question. "I thought you had been kidnapped, or something!"
I freeze. "Umm..." What am I supposed to say?! 'Oh, you know, I'm actually Ally Dawson, and I've been on tour for the past three months.' Yeah, that'd totally work (note the sarcasm).
She gives me a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, you don't have to tell me. I can tell it's personal."
I nod and purse my lips, turning back to my locker. "Yeah. Very personal."
"You know," She begins, leaning on the locker next to mine. "It's weird that you were gone during Ally Dawson's whole tour."
I stop moving for a few seconds, then nod. "Yeah. Weird coincidence, huh?"
She giggles, twirling a strand of her hair. "You know, if I was stupid, I'd think you were secretly Ally Dawson, and you were here undercover."
I fake a laugh. "No way! That... That'd be weird. Me? Ally Dawson? I... I don't even know how to... how to sing." I mentally slap my forehead. Curse my nonexistent lying skills. I look down at my invisible watch. "Well, time for homeroom."
She giggles again, shaking her head, making her dark blonde and brown curls bounce. "You're not wearing a watch, silly."
As if on cue, the warning bell goes off.
"Well, time for homeroom." I repeat myself.
She beams a smile at me. "Alright, see you in Science!" She waves and skips away. My smile instantly drops and I close my locker door before walking to homeroom. I find two empty desks in the back of the room and sit down, placing my books on the other desk to save the spot for Austin, who comes in right before the bell goes off.
"How did it go with Zimmer?" I ask him, my voice in a whisper.
He's about to answer when the intercom beeps. 'Attention everybody, please come to the auditorium for a last minute school assemble right now.'
'Dustin' smirks. "I'd say it went pretty well."
I smile and we both grab our books before joining the mass of people going to the auditorium. When we get there, we stay at the front with Mr. Zimmer, our principal, and watch students and teachers sit down infront of us, all seeming curious about what this sudden assemble could be about. Some teachers seem to figure out quickly enough as they see 'Dustin' and I standing at the front, while others stay completely clueless.
After Mr. Zimmer gets everyone's attention, he speaks up. "I bet you're all wondering why you were gathered here on such short notice." Hushed voices fill the room, confirming his statement. "Well, I'll leave your fellow classmates Dustin Sun and Alicia Wilson to explain everything." He says before finding a seat with the rest of the school.
I catch Trish's eyes, who sends me a tumbs up and a reassuring smile. I nod at her, taking a shaky breath, then decide to speak first. "So, umm... First of all, sorry, we haven't really prepared a speech or anything." I laugh nervously, feeling my hands starting to shake. I've never been nervous infront of an audience, before. And I hate the feeling.
"So, Alicia and I have a confession to make." 'Dustin' speaks up, probably sensing my nervousness. "But we before say anything, we want to make sure no one will freak out." He pauses, and we're both satisfied by their reassuring smiles.
"Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been to school these past three months." I begin, and immediately, people start nodding. "You may also have noticed how Dustin and I were missing quite a great number of school days."
"No, we weren't skipping." 'Dustin' continues. "We were working."
"So, here's the thing; my real name isn't Alicia Wilson."
"And my name's not Dustin Sun."
I glance at Austin, who gives me an encouraging nod. I look back to the audience and tug on my wig. "My name is Ally Dawson." I say quickly and take off my wig, letting my brown hair fall freely. Gasps feel the large auditorium.
"And I'm Austin Moon." Austin says and takes off his wig. We both also take off our contacts, then look up at the shocked faces of our classmates.
"Surprise." I say with a weak smile.
Two days later...
Austin's P.O.V.
Would you be shocked if I told you the students at our school have been really cool about the whole 'two celebrities have been going to their school undercover for almost a year' thing? Well, it's exactly what happened, and let me tell you, I'm pretty surprised. So are Ally, Trish, and Dez. Sure, Ally and I got asked for autographs a few times and it's been all over the news, but other than that, everyone's been cool about it. And I couldn't be more glad.
"Hey, guys." I greet my friends at lunch.
"Hey." They greet me back. Dez and I do our handshake, Trish and I nod at each other, then I give Ally a quick kiss on her forehead (I usually kiss her on the lips, but she seems very focused on her book, today). It's sort of our usual greeting. I'm always the last one getting to lunch because of my tutoring sessions with Mr. Martins. Over the months I've been getting better at French, so he doesn't keep me with him during lunch. Since I have French right before lunch, he just makes me stay a few minutes after class to make sure I understood the lesson and stuff like that.
"Watcha writing?" I ask Ally, who hasn't paid the slightest attention to me since I sat next to her. "Alls?"
"One second." She says quickly. I wait for her to finish as Trish and Dez start a conversation of their own. Something about a... A zalien convention? Don't look at me, I have no idea what they're talking about. "Okay, what?" Ally asks, snapping her head to look at me with an annoyed expression.
I raise my hands in surrender. "Geez, sorry."
She sighs and closes her book, marking the page with her pencil. "No, I'm sorry for snapping at you. I'm writing a song, and when I'm in writing mode, nothing can stop me until I'm out of ideas or until I'm done."
"It's okay. So, what's the song about?"
She shrugs, tracing with her fingers the white and pink A on her brown leather book. "It's about me, I guess. What my life was like for the past year. I don't really know. It's just a start. Far from finished."
I nod in understanding. I wrote quite a few songs myself, and I know for a fact that explaining what a song is about can be really hard. "Okay. Do you have a title?"
"I think. I'm not sure. I'm considering it being Cover Down."
"Sounds good. Can you show me what you have so far?" I ask her.
She bites her lip and nods. "Sure." She opens the book and hands it to me. "It's just a draft, though. And I haven't figured out the melody yet."
I nod wordlessly and begin reading.
'I've been thinking for a while now,
About taking my cover down,
But what would people say,
If I threw the wig away?
Cover down,
I'm going to be honest,
My life is upside-down,
And certainely not the greatest
Cover down,
My mind says to follow my heart,
And my heart says to go,
Cover down' (A/N: I wrote this. It sucks, and it was meant to)
I smile and hand Ally her book. "It's good."
She cringes and shakes her head. "It's not. I'm certainely not letting that out in the business, but I felt like I needed to get my feelings out."
"Well, I think it's pretty good. But if you don't want to get that song recorded, then so be it."
She smiles, placing her book in her backpack. "Thanks for understanding."
TIME LINE
"So... prom is coming up." Dez says. The two of us are in my basement, watching TV.
I nod, glancing at him before turning back to the TV. "Yeah."
"Who are you taking?"
I scoff. "Ally, of course. Who else would I go with?"
He mutes the TV and ignores my protests. "Have you asked her yet?"
I shrug. "No. Why would I? We're going out. Isn't it obvious that we're going to go together?"
He rolls his eyes. "Austin, Austin, Austin. You clearly know nothing about girls."
I glare at him and cross my arms. "Oh, and you do?"
"As a matter of fact, yes."
I silently scoff and look at him with a challenging stare. "Okay. What do you know about this whole prom thing?" I ask him.
"Well, Trish, Ally, and I were talking about it at lunch before you showed up. I had already asked Trish, knowing that girls want to be asked to prom by their boyfriend, if they have one, even if it's obvious they're going to go together. Anyway, Ally said you hadn't asked her yet, so she didn't know if she was going."
My eyes grow wide. "She said that?" He nods. I begin panicking. Prom is in less than two weeks. I have to plan how I'll ask her to go with me! "Do you think you could help me think of how I'll ask her?"
"Sorry, Buddy. I think you need to figure that out on your own." He pats my back, then looks at his watch. "Well, I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow. Good luck." He says before walking away.
I groan. I need a plan. Fast.
Ally's P.O.V.
"He still hasn't asked you to prom?" Trish asks me through my phone.
"Nope." I say, popping the 'p'. Tomorrow night is Marino High's senior prom, and Austin still hasn't asked me to go with him. To be honest, I lose hope a while ago, but Trish keeps telling me not to give up.
I hear her sigh. "Dez told me the other day that Austin thought he didn't need to ask you to prom. Since you two are a couple, he thought it was obvious you were going together."
I sit up straight, my eyes widening. "Why didn't you tell me that earlier?!" I screech.
"Well, Dez told me Austin told him he would ask you anyway. I thought I wouldn't need to tell you this, but apparently I do."
"But the prom's tomorrow! I don't have anything to wear!"
I hear her scoff. "Haven't you seen her closet? It's full of fancy dresses! I'm sure you can find something."
I sigh and get up from my bed before going to my walk-in closet. It's not really a closet, actually. More like a small room. I walk over the dress section and look through them.
"Hey, I'll call you on FaceTime so you can help me choose what to wear, alright?"
"Actually, I have to go. I'm sure you can find something." She says.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow."
"See ya." She says and I hang up. I toss my phone on a chair, then stare at all the dresses. I didn't remember having so many. There must have at least twenty dresses.
I pick out a few that I like and get into the small changing section, so that no one can walk in on me changing. After putting on the first one, I get out and walk to my mirror. This dress is baby blue, stops halfway down my tighs, is strapless, and a bit tight, so all my curves are visible. Fortunately, I'm pretty skinny, so wearing clothes that cling to my body isn't a problem. I stare at my reflexion for a minute before shaking my head. Too simple.
The second dress is purple, and a bit longer than the first one as it stops right above my knees. It's not tight at all, so if I twirl, the dress with follow. I bite my lip and sigh. Still not the right one.
As I stop infront of my mirror for the third time, I smile a bit for some unknown reason. This dress has white spaghetti straps. The breast area is also white, and the rest is black. Other than the design and colors, it's just like the previous dress.
"That's the one." I hear a familiar voice say behind me. I turn around to see Austin leaning against the doorway, looking at me with a smile on his face. He's wearing black skinny jeans, a red V-neck, a leather jacket, and his whistle necklace is hanging on his neck. I take a minute to wonder why he has an arm behind him, then shake it off.
"How long have you been standing there?" I ask him.
"Since you got off the phone."
See? This is why I have a changing room.
"And what are you doing here? It's almost eight, and we have school tomorrow."
He stands up straight and slowly makes his way over me. "Never too late to see you."
I roll my eyes, but let appear a small smile on my lips. "Don't be so cheesy."
He chuckles and wraps an arm around me from behind, keeping the other one behind him. We're both facing the mirror, so we look at each other through it. "Alls?" He asks quietly.
"Yeah?"
"Are you going to prom?" He asks, and I can feel his heartbeat quicken.
I nod. "That's what this dress is for. Are you?"
He nods, placing his chin on my head. "Yeah. And I was hoping to go with you." He says carefully, pulling out a red rose from his back. So, that's what he was hiding.
I step out of his embrace and face him, raising an eyebrow, a smirk tugging on my lips. "Austin Monica Moon, are you asking me to prom?"
He shrugs, a smirk of his own appearing on his face. "If you want to, yes. If not, then no."
I grin, taking the rose from his hand. "I'd love to go with you."
BAM! Done!
PLEASE READ!
So, I'm leaving on a four days vacation in like five minutes, so I didn't have time to edit this chapter (it's only half edited) nor answer your questions. Sorry, I'll answer all of them in next chapter, which will be the epilogue. I don't know if I'll have internet, but if I do, I'll come back and edit this chapter. At first, I wasn't even supposed to have time to post this chapter at all, so please forgive me for not writing about the prom. Just let your imagination flow, I guess. Nothing special happens, just a normal prom. Okay?
I really hope you all understand. I'm rushing to type this right now. Bye!
Until next time,
R5AAFan :)
