PCPD
It had been a long night at the Port Charles Police Department. Chloe J drank a cup of their crappy coffee as she waited for the latest news.
They had all camped out inside, which Dante heavily objected to, but they ignored him. She looked around.
Sam, Jason, Carly, Patrick, and Jax (who had arrived last night from Paris) were standing at the front desk talking to Mac Scorpio, Cameron Webber, and Lucky Spencer. Selena was on her father's hip, her head resting tiredly against his shoulder.
Brittany, Maddie, and Courtney were sitting on the floor in silence, each of them in their own little worlds. Mia had been throwing up on and off the whole night and she was in the bathroom again. Emma was asleep in one of the chairs, and Chloe J knew she had to be uncomfortable. Katie was sitting in a chair close to Emma's with her phone in her hand.
"I think maybe we should leave." She told her friends as she went over, sitting down next to Brittany.
"We can't." Maddie protested.
"None of us slept, we all know Emma's not feeling good, Mia's been throwing up for the majority of the time we've been here, and Selena looks like she's going to pass out. We could all go back to the penthouse and get some rest."
"She's not gonna want to go back there." Courtney said quietly, looking towards Emma.
"Then we can go to the Enchantment."
"I can't leave my brothers. Not when there's an ocean separating us from our parents. I need to be here." Brittany objected.
"And I'm not leaving Gabe." Mia plopped down next to Courtney, leaning her head against her shoulder. "I'm not raising a kid alone whose father is stuck in prison. He's getting out of here."
"I hate to be the person to say this, but it's not looking good." Maddie stated.
"WHERE ARE MY SONS!"
The girls turned around, watching as Sonny burst into the PCPD with Claudia on his heels, both of them joining the parents near the front desk. Brenna, Lola, and Izzie were behind them and the younger two joined the other teenagers.
"What's going on?" Brenna questioned. She saw Emma, who was somehow still sleeping, and gasped. "Oh my God."
"Joey beat her, the boys beat him up, and now they're being charged as the TMK." Courtney summarized.
"But how?" Lola wondered.
"A witness saw them leaving the warehouse where Joey got beat up. He was murdered by the TMK."
Brenna sighed. "This is just wonderful."
"Britt, your parents are here now. We should go." Chloe J repeated, sticking to her idea.
"Chloe J's right." Maddie agreed. "Plus, it looks like things are about to get ugly. Selena shouldn't have to see that." They all looked over to where Dante and Sonny were getting into a heated argument.
"You guys wake up Emma. I'll get Selena." Mia stated. "Brenna, Lola, come with me."
Courtney stood and sat in the chair next to Emma's. She shook her shoulder gently. "Emmy, wake up. Come on, Emma."
Emma's eyes snapped open and they saw how panicky her breathing was. "Huh?"
"We're still at the PCPD. We're gonna go get some rest at the Enchantment."
"No. I'm not leaving."
Chloe J stepped forward. "It's the Enchantment or the hospital. Either way, you're not staying here."
Emma sighed. "The Enchantment it is."
Lindsey
Lindsey's head fell slightly to the side as she started to drift off, Henry still in her arms. She jumped, waking herself up. She sat up slowly and noticed that Alec was in the kitchen.
"Oh, you're up." Alec came in and sat next to her on the couch.
"Are you okay? You seem upset."
"I just found out that I have a sister."
"Yeah, you've got two of them." Lindsey paled, realizing that Alec only had one sister now since Bella had died. "Alec, I'm sorry…"
"Stop." He interrupted. "My father had a daughter."
"Wow. The mysterious Janaceks." Lindsey studied him. "How did you find that out?"
"I found her after she was attacked by the TMK. She was murdered yesterday."
"Oh my God." Lindsey gasped. "How old was she?"
"Fifteen. Her name was Lily Mir. She never had to know the Janaceks because my father didn't want her after finding out she was a girl."
"Mir. Where do I know that name?"
"Her mom's a doctor at GH. Leyla Mir. And she's got an older sister named Violet."
It dawned on her. "Oh yeah. Violet was Gabriella's friend. That's terrible, Alec. I'm really sorry."
"Her mom invited me to her funeral. She said that even though I never knew her, she would have wanted me to be there."
"Are you gonna go?"
"I don't know. It'll be awkward…"
"I'll go with you." Lindsey offered. "But it's totally up to you. If you don't want to go, then don't do it. You'll only feel uncomfortable, and you don't need to put yourself through that."
"So if I decide to go, you'll come with me?" she nodded. "Thanks, Linds."
"Hey, that's what friends are for, right?" she smiled weakly. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've gotta go shower while Henry's sleeping. I need to get back to the hospital."
"Do you mind if I sit with him for a little bit?" Alec asked shyly.
"No, of course not. You are his godfather, after all." Lindsey shifted Henry into Alec's arms. "Take care of my baby."
"Always."
Funeral
Damien Spinelli sat quietly in the front row of the church. He had decided on just having a small, simple service for his son. It was what Corey would have wanted anyway; he was never big on getting a lot of attention.
"Hey Spin."
Spinelli was surprised to hear her voice. Sam came and sat next to him, smoothing down her black dress.
"What are you doing here? You should be at the PCPD."
"There's not much that I can do there. Besides, I was the crappiest godmother in the history of the world to him. I at least owe it to him to come to his funeral."
"Well I'm glad you're here." He gave her a sad smile. "How are things with the boys going?"
Sam sighed. "It's a mess. Molly, Kristina, and Abby are doing everything they can, but I don't know how well that's going to work out. Jason, Carly, Sonny, and Claudia are still down there; Patrick went back to sit with Robin at the hospital, and I decided to come here."
"It means a lot to me, and I know it would mean a lot to Corey." She looked past her, seeing two familiar blondes. "Look who else showed up."
Maxie Jones Zacchara and Lulu Spencer Falconeri walked over. Maxie squeezed over to Spinelli's other side, while Lulu just sat next to Sam.
"Thank you both for being here." Spinelli said to his old friends.
"We wouldn't miss it." Lulu smiled at him sympathetically, remembering her own son's death. And now she would have to bury her stepson too.
Life could be beyond cruel.
Ashlyn sat in the back of the church, a hand pressed to her stomach. Tears streamed steadily down her cheeks as she realized the severity of Corey's death.
He had wanted to be a father to their baby so badly, and now, he would never have the chance. She thought of all the things they could have done with the child, but had to stop because it hurt too much.
"Oh Corey." She whispered. "Why did this have to happen to you?"
"Because bad things happen to good people." Ashlyn looked up and saw Emma Morgan. She had on sunglasses and her hair was down around her face. She had on a long sleeved black sweater and black dress pants, and still managed to look beautiful. "Just because he's gone doesn't mean your baby still can't have an amazing life. You just have to keep going, for Corey."
"For Corey." Ashlyn repeated. "Thanks, Emma."
"I didn't do anything but tell you the truth. When bad things happen, you just push through. I could be the poster child for that." She sighed. "See you around, Ashlyn."
"Okay." She watched Emma walk off. She figured she was upset about the news of Joey's death, so she just attributed her weird behavior to that.
Ashlyn didn't understand why she had to lose her boyfriend and her older brother all in one short period of time. She just hoped she managed to get through this."
"Dimpled One." Spinelli said, looking over Emma. He noticed the bruises on her face, but didn't say anything; Sam had filled him in on what happened. "Thank you for coming here."
"I wouldn't have missed it. I know we grew apart, but Corey, Gabe, Maddie, and I used to be close. I wouldn't just skip his funeral." She paused. "Can I talk to you about something?"
"Of course."
"You can't tell my dad."
"Dimpled One…"
"It's not bad." She quickly reassured him. He motioned for her to continue. "Before his death, Corey was working on the case of the TMK. Right after their attacks, I gave him Mia and Ava's phones. The night he died, he texted me and told me he knew who the person was, but before I could talk to him…" she trailed off, and Spinelli understood. "I was just wondering if there's any way you could find out who it was. I know it's a lot to ask, especially so soon after Corey's death, but my brother and my best friends are getting ready to go down for something they didn't do, and I'm not gonna let that happen."
Spinelli smiled at her. "I'll get to work right away. For Corey."
Paige
Paige was surprised when she got to school and not one person from the Dream Team was anywhere to be found. No one was at their usual tables, and even their cars were missing from the parking lot.
"Haley! Christian!" Paige called out. The couple turned to face her. "Have you guys seen Courtney or Chloe J or anybody?" they shared a look that immediately made Paige's stomach drop. "What?'
"I thought you would have heard…" Christian said with a sigh.
"Heard what?"
"Joey beat Emma up again. Zack, Gabe, Connor, Hunter, and Nate beat Joey up, and then apparently he was murdered by the TMK. Some witnesses saw them leaving the warehouse where it happened and now the whole Text Message Killer thing is being blamed on them."
"Oh my God." Paige tried to say something, but nothing came to mind. "I'll see you guys later." She turned and walked away, not believing that no one had thought to call her.
She noticed that everyone who wasn't in the Crew was giving her strange looks. When she walked down the hallway, people would move all the way to the other side like they were trying to avoid her. She rolled her eyes at their immaturity.
As if life didn't already suck enough, now school was going to be even more terrible.
Emma
Maddie walked alongside her older sister, constantly turning to look at her and make sure she was okay. "Are you sure that you want to do this?"
"I need to explain why I'm not there, Mads."
"I'm sure most of them have heard about it by now."
"Yeah, but this is a talk that's long overdue." Emma struggled to push open the doors to the gym, so Maddie did it for her.
The members of the Dream Team had all skipped school (besides Paige, who had only found out about everything that afternoon), and Emma insisted on going to cheerleading practice, though she was just going to talk to the girls and then leave.
The remaining cheerleaders- Nattie, Kailey, Jacelyn, and Ava (Katie was still on the team too, but she had stayed at the Enchantment, and Aubrey was still in the hospital)- turned to look at her as she walked in. Maddie was right next to her and had an arm around her waist, trying to help her move.
"Emma! Are you okay?" Ava asked, coming over.
Emma forced a smile. "No, Ava. I'm not." She looked at all of them. "We're down to eight people now. You have to know that things aren't going to work out for us. We have no chance in winning anything, especially not the Sparkle Classic."
"That's not true." Nattie objected.
"Our squad has been destroyed. Some of our members have been killed. We can't bounce back from that and besides, no one is willing to put in the work."
"Yes we are. We can try harder."
Emma looked at her cousin. "It's useless. And besides, I've got more important things to worry about. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go visit my best friend in jail." She looked at her sister. "I'm ready to go, Mads."
"Guys, no practice today. We'll text you and let you know about tomorrow." Maddie told the remaining girls. She helped Emma get to the door.
There had been a time when cheerleading was the most important thing in Emma's life, but now, she had a lot more to worry about. Like if her brother and friends would get released, if the real killer would be caught, and how she would continue to try and keep it together when she was falling apart.
"Hey."
"Hi." Emma sat down in the seat across from Zack. "How are you?"
"Annoyed. Worried." He studied her face. "Take off your sunglasses." She sighed, but did as he said. "Have you gone to the hospital?"
"No."
"Princess, you need to go, just to be sure."
"No, Zack."
"Emma, I'm serious."
"I'm fine, just really sore. Besides, going to the hospital is the last thing I'm worried about right now." She met his eyes for the first time since she had come in. "Thank you."
He frowned. "For what?"
"For standing up for me, and for protecting me. I don't care if you did kill him."
"You know I didn't though, right?"
"I know, but if you had, I wouldn't have cared. I've never hated someone in my life as much as I hate him."
"He can't hurt you anymore."
"I know that in my head, but it's hard to grasp that. I had nightmares last night." She shook her head. "I just want all of this to be over with."
"I hope it is soon."
"I went to Corey's funeral today. It was small and nice. He would have liked it."
"That's good."
"I talked to Spinelli and he's going to pick up Corey's research. Hopefully, he'll be able to find out who this freak is so that you guys can be released."
"I hope so. I miss my bed."
Emma tried to smile. "It'll be okay."
"You know, someone once told me that everyone says that and it's not true."
"Yeah, well it's gonna have to be."
Aubrey
Aubrey was glad to finally be out of the hospital. The doctors said she was going to make a full recovery. But the best part of it all was that now she had a new family that she had never known about, and she couldn't wait to get to know them.
Her good mood came crashing down as soon as she heard about Connor. She couldn't believe that the boys were being blamed for this whole like, especially considering the fact that they had family members who were murdered.
She had gone down to the PCPD in hopes that she would get an update from Maddie, Mia, or Brittany. She was really surprised when Molly asked her if she wanted to go visit Connor.
Aubrey entered the questioning room hesitantly. She sat down across from him and he finally looked up.
"I didn't expect it to be you."
"Who did you think I was?"
"One of my sisters; it's the blonde hair. How are you feeling?"
"A lot better." Aubrey admitted. "How are you?"
"You really don't want to know." Connor sighed. "Look, I know it's not really a good time, but I need to get this out of the way before something else happens. We need to break up."
"W-What?"
"I don't wanna hold you back, Aubs. I don't know what's going to happen to me, or if I'm even going to get out of this. It's not fair to you."
Aubrey understood immediately that he wasn't going to back down. And while it made her sad, she knew that this is where they were going to end.
"Thank you. Because of you, I managed to come out of my shell a little bit, and I even have a couple friends now. I have a family now."
"I can't take credit for that one."
"Yeah, but if I hadn't been dating you, then maybe none of this would have ever happened. Everything that happens is because of something that happened before it. Maybe us dating was the cause of all this TMK stuff."
"Okay, don't say that. It's freaky."
Aubrey smiled. "I know you're gonna get out of here, Connor. Good luck."
"Thanks. Good luck with the new brothers and sisters."
"Thank you." She went to the door. "Goodbye." She walked away from Connor for the final time.
Haley
Haley had her phone in her left hand and her right hand was holding her backpack strap to her shoulder. She walked down the sidewalk towards her car, preparing to go to school for the day. It was Tuesday morning, and she knew that her classmates would act just as strange today as they had been yesterday. Luckily, she had Christian, Addie, and even Jamie to keep her company since everyone else was avoiding the Crew, especially the people closest to Gabe, Hunter, Connor, Zack, and Nate.
Her phone vibrated and she glanced down at it, seeing a number she didn't recognize. As she read the message, she heard footsteps approaching her.
Haley, I C U.
She whipped around and came face-to-face with a person in a black mask. He reached for her neck, but she ducked. He punched her in the stomach and threw her to the ground. He leaned over her and wrapped his hands around her neck. She kicked her leg out and managed to hit him in the shin, hard. He pulled away from her and ran, and she noticed he was limping slightly.
"911, please state your emergency."
"My name is Haley Lovett and I was just attacked by the Text Message Killer."
Christian paced anxiously as he waited for Haley to get out of the exam room. She walked out, and he was glad to see there weren't bruises or blood covering her body like there had been with the others.
"I'm fine." Haley said as a way of greeting. "You didn't have to come here."
He could tell that she was upset by the wobble in her voice. "Yes, I did." He hugged her. "You are so strong, you know that?"
Haley leaned into his chest. "Yeah, but it's all just an act." She broke down into tears.
Christian stroked her hair gently, wishing he could end all of this.
Funeral
Leyla Mir looked around at her daughter's funeral. She hadn't expected many guests; after all, Lily hadn't attended PCH for very long. She, Violet, Maggie, Gabriella, and Reed would be sitting in the front row, but for now, they were all greeting the various people who were showing up.
She turned around and saw Alec Barrett entering the church, a pretty brunette by his side. She went over to them.
"Thank you for coming, Lily would have appreciated this." She hugged Alec quickly. "I'm Dr. Leyla Mir."
"Lindsey Scorpio-Drake." Lindsey shook her hand.
"Robin and Patrick's daughter." She nodded. "I'm sorry about your mother."
"I'm sorry about your daughter."
"Thank you." Leyla smiled. "Thank you both for being here. Excuse me." She walked away.
Alec looked towards the front of the church and saw a picture of his little sister. He couldn't believe that he would never get the chance to know her. That's when he realized Gabriella was standing a couple feet away from the picture.
"Hey, can you go find us some seats? I've gotta take care of something real quick."
"Sure." Lindsey agreed. She went to go find a place for them to sit.
Alec went over to Gabriella. She gave him a sad smile when she saw him.
"Leyla told us that you were Lily's brother and you never knew her. She was an amazing kid."
"I bet." Alec sighed. "I don't know how to do this, so I'm just come out and say it. This whole friends-with-benefits thing we have going on isn't working for me. It's time that I grow up."
Gabriella nodded. "I understand."
"It was fun while it lasted. I won't forget you, Gabs."
"I won't forget you either." She hugged him quickly. "Have fun on your journey of life, Alec. Make it count." She walked away.
Alec pulled out his phone and found the contact he had been searching for. "Hey Rachel, it's Alec. Can you meet me for lunch at Kelly's around one?...Perfect."
"Let's just find a seat in the back. Stay together, and don't do anything crazy." Emma ordered as she led the cheerleaders, past and present (besides Haley, Livvie, and Ashlyn), into the church. Though they hadn't known Lily very long, it was only right that they attend her funeral.
"She was so pretty." Jacelyn observed, motioning towards the picture that was at the front of the church. "It's not fair. She was so young. All of them were."
"She didn't deserve this." Courtney agreed. "C'mon, Jace. Let's sit down."
They were surprised when Lily's mother approached them. "You must be the girls from the cheerleading team. Lily used to talk about you all the time. Which one of you is Emma?"
Emma had been hoping to lay low and hide behind her hair, but she knew that she wouldn't be able to. "I am."
"She said you were an amazing leader and a great person. I'm glad Lily had people around her that she could depend on. She loved cheering, and she said this was the best year she ever had."
Emma smiled. "We'll definitely miss her on the team. She was a great addition to our squad, and I know she could have helped us win the Sparkle Classic."
"I wish she had the opportunity." Leyla wiped her cheeks. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize. You have every right to feel the way you do." Emma quickly assured her.
"Thank you all for coming, and thank you for being there for my daughter." Leyla smiled one last time before walking away.
Maddie and Mia
After the funeral, all of the girls had decided that it was best if they went to school. Maddie and Mia walked down the hall to their fourth period together when suddenly Maddie heard the words "Mia" and "whore". She looked over to see her best friend's eyes were glued to the ground as she continued to walk, completely ignoring it.
If this had happened two months ago, Mia would have attacked the girl. But now, Maddie could tell that Mia actually believed what people were saying about her.
Ever since Mia's pregnancy was revealed, people had started to treat her differently, and it only got worse after Gabe and the others were arrested. Maddie was determined to prove to Mia that she didn't deserve to be called a whore.
Maddie turned around to face the girl. "What was that, Michelle?"
Michelle Scott, a blonde junior, came over to her. "I said that Mia is a whore. You got a problem with that?"
"Actually, I do. You need to mind your own business."
"Like you're going to do anything. Mia's just a whore who wants nothing but attention, which is why she was sleeping with Gabe while dating Tanner."
"I wasn't, actually." Mia defended herself.
"Of course you won't admit it. A whore will never admit when she's wrong." Michelle grinned. "You probably asked to be attacked. Had Gabe smack you around so that you could look like the innocent little victim. Too bad that baby's going to grow up to be a killer, just like Daddy."
Before Mia could even respond, Maddie had punched Michelle, knocking her to the ground. She jumped on top of her and grabbed a fistful of her hair in her left hand, and punched her in the face with her right hand.
"Whoa, whoa, what is going on here?" Principal Turner shouted. He took in what was happening in front of him. "Madelyn Morgan, Michelle Scott, to my office immediately!" he screamed. Both girls pulled apart, Michelle bleeding from her nose and having a black eye, and Maddie only having her hair a little messed up. They followed Principal Turner.
"What just happened?" Courtney asked as she and Brittany joined Mia in the hallway.
Mia faced them. "Maddie has finally hit her breaking point."
Maddie
Maddie slammed her backpack to the ground as she entered the penthouse. Sam followed behind her.
"Madelyn, you better quit with your attitude."
"I don't have an attitude."
"Really? Because you have one right now."
"I don't care, Mom! Just stop!"
"Why are you acting like this?"
"I'm not acting like anything! I was just defending Mia!"
"When are you going to realize that you don't need to get physical to do that? This is the same thing that got your brother in trouble!"
"So you're saying that when someone threatens your family, you shouldn't do anything about it?"
"No, of course I'm not!"
"What was I supposed to do? She called Mia a whore, said she asked to be attacked, and said the baby would grow up and be a killer just like Gabe. So not only did she insult Mia, but she insulted my twin brother and I am not going to let that go."
"God, Maddie. Why are you talking like this? You used to be so calm and you were always the peacemaker. It's like I don't even know you anymore!"
"Yeah, well being attacked, having your sister nearly killed three times in the past month, watching friend after friend after friend get checked into the hospital, seeing your boyfriend get murdered right in front of you, people you've grown up with dying, and then your brother getting accused for it all changes a person." She grabbed her bag and stormed upstairs.
Courtney
Courtney sat at her usual lunch table with Emma and Chloe J. Paige had said she had a test to make up during lunch, and Brittany and Mia were eating with Haley, Addie, Christian, and Jamie.
"I've gotta go turn in my AP Chem homework." Emma announced, standing up. "I'll be back in a minute."
Chloe J stood almost immediately after Emma left. "I'm gonna go pee." She waked off.
Courtney sat at the table alone, scrolling through her Twitter. Someone sat across from her and she was surprised to see that it was Tyler Drake, her ex-boyfriend.
"Well this is unexpected."
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about Connor. Is there any progress in getting them released?"
"Not so far, no." Courtney sighed. "It sucks. I'm way too impatient for this."
"Don't I know it." Tyler shook his head. "It just sucks. It's terrible that all the guys were arrested, but especially Gabe. He's got a baby on the way, and even though it was stupid for them to get pregnant so young, he's got to step up and take responsibility and that's hard from in prison."
"Who are you to judge them?" Courtney questioned.
"Huh?"
"After Stella got pregnant when she wasn't even in high school yet, and then you want to talk about Gabe taking responsibility when you couldn't even be there for Selena."
Tyler's face was completely blank. "Courtney, what are you talking about?"
She paled. "Oh my God. You didn't know."
"Selena? Selena Morgan?" he ran a hand through his hair. "She's mine a-and Stella's?"
"Tyler…"
"I've gotta go." He got up and went towards the parking lot, nearly knocking Chloe J over as he passed her.
"Where's he off to?" she took the seat she had been in before.
"To find out more about his daughter." Chloe J raised an eyebrow. "I just revealed Port Charles' best kept secret."
Tyler
"Tyler?" Matt Hunter opened his front door, allowing the seventeen year old to enter his house. "What are you doing here?"
"Is it true?" he demanded.
Matt frowned. "Is what true?"
"Selena. Is she mine and Stella's?"
Matt sighed. "Yeah, she is."
"B-But how?"
"Stella got pregnant when the two of you were together. She wanted to give the baby up for adoption, but Elizabeth insisted on keeping her. She wanted Selena to be her second chance at being a mother, but Stella came to me crying and saying that she couldn't have a baby at twelve. I helped her set up the adoption, and she chose Sam and Jason Morgan as the adoptive parents."
"Why didn't she tell me?"
"She thought that the pregnancy would ruin her life. She didn't want it to ruin yours too."
Tyler ran a hand through his hair. "Thank you for telling me."
"You're welcome. I'm sorry that you had to find out this late."
"I've gotta go." He left, not believing that he actually had a daughter.
He, seventeen year old Tyler Drake, had a four year old daughter.
How do you feel about Lindsey and Alec's friendship?
Do you think Spinelli will be able to track down who the TMK is?
