Saved By You

Chapter 50 – NOODLES!

"You guys didn't need to wait," Jace said as we trotted down the stairs to the waiting car and Jeep. Teddy and Luke were chatting and leaning against the Jeep waiting on us even though Jace told them to go home.

"We know," Teddy responded first. "We wanted to be here just in case anything happened. Are you guys good?"

Jace and I locked eyes as our fingers squeezed each others. "Yeah," we said in agreement.

"Good. Now what are we doing?" Teddy wondered. "Do you want us to keep quiet or are you going to tell your parents and ours?

We've already discussed this. Our agreement is to not have any more lies between us and that we go and see John and talk to him about how we feel. It's meant to help. So to answer Teddy's question we're going to get everyone together and tell them the good and bad news as one big family. We both know it's soon but as soon as it's out then the sooner it'll be off our shoulders and we can have a stress free life, hopefully.

"We want to round the whole family up now and tell them," Jace explained our plan. "It's the best thing to do. I'm sure my Mum's going to mentally freak out about it but she can't do anything about it now."

We slip into the cars, Teddy heading off with Luke in the car and me with Jace in the Jeep. I text my Brother to let him know I need to see him immediately and to meet us at the house if he can. If he doesn't show then I'll call him another time.

Filling the air, my stomach rumbles and I look across to Jace. He's smiling. "Don't tell me the baby can already talk…"

I laugh at him and push my hand against his shoulder which makes him laugh too. "Can we go somewhere to eat first? I'm starving. Breakfast this morning wasn't appetising."

Jace takes me to a diner and we grab one of the back booths. There are a few people here but we decided we wanted to be alone. I sit next to Jace so I lean against him. It only occurs to me now of how tired I am. I yawn and put my hand to my mouth. I need my bed.

"You didn't sleep well either, did you?" Jace said, tucking his arm around my shoulders. After I shake my head he maps out our day for us. "How about we eat, grab a couple of movies, head home, tell our parents and then lock ourselves away in our room and watch films till we both fall asleep."

"Hmm… That sounds perfect to me."

I close my eyes for a brief moment till I felt someone presence standing besides our table. I look up and see a lady with red curly hair, green eyes with a pen and notepad in her hands. "What can I get you?"She asks in a polite tone.

I glance my eyes quickly over the menu, seeing a jumble of words written across the folded menu. Jace orders his first and then turns to face me for my request. "Can I get pancakes soaked in syrup please?" I need the sugar boost.

"That's not good for the baby," Jace tells me. "You need to start eat healthy now."I flutter my eye lids and pull my soppy puppy face. "She'll have pancakes but not soaked in syrup. And we'll have two orange juices."

"Coming up," The lady says with an admiring look on her face. She jots down into her notepad and scurries off towards the kitchen.

Jace picks up my hand and his tone made me aware that he's concerned. "You need to start looking after yourself now, Lydia. For you and the baby. I don't want anything bad to happen to both of you."

"With you right here, pointing me in the right direction, I'm sure I'll be able to look after myself." I smile to myself. "You're going to be checking on everything I eat and do from now aren't you?"
"You have no idea," He says leaning in and kissing my hair. He got his phone out of his pocket and tapped on the screen a couple of times. "They have a daddy to be app. Look." The excitement on his face tells the story completely. I can relax now and don't have to worry. He knows and he's still going to stand by me, no matter what happens.

I slap a hand to my face. "Oh dear lord." Yep, and he's going to drive me insane but in a good way.

"How far gone are you?" He asks with his eyes glued to the screen.

The lady comes back with her short hair bouncing against her shoulders. "Here you are," She said settling two glass of orange juice onto the table. "Food will be right over," She told us before disappearing again.

"I'm six weeks yesterday."

Jace taps the dates into his new app and a smile is beaming from him. I reach for my glass and take a sip of the orange juice. I'm glad I only took a small sip because the horrible taste is sour and not very pleasant. "Here," I push the glass toward Jace's. "You can have this." I pull a ghastly face as I pick out some tissues and dab the corner of my mouth. "Tastes vile to me."

I brush my fingers through my hair, wrapping it behind my ears. "Oh jeez," Jace says, rubbing his lips as his eyes remain on the screen. I'm going to grab that phone in a minute and toss it across the room, hoping it'll crack the screen and stop working. "Have you figured out your due date yet?" Jace asks prying his eyes away from his phone, still grinning.

I roll my eyes at him. "I'm sure you're going to tell me."

"March 26th…" Jace announces.

"You have to be frigging joking!" I snatch the phone from him and look down at the date. It says it in green and white. Yep, my due date is on my frigging birthday. "That's so not cool," I say handing him his phone back.

"It so is." He's tapping on the phone again and all I can think about is what his reaction would be like if I tossed his phone away. Would he be furious? Before I could test it out the lady arrives with our food and my stomach is screeching at the smell of the food. "Sorry to be a pain but can we get a glass of water."

"Certainly."

"Hey Lyds, did you know the baby is the size of an orange pip." Jace has this goofy face on him. It's so adorable. "It says here that our pip is already developing a central nervous system, brain and spine. That's awesome."

With a piece of pancake attached to my fork, I dip it into the sauce and wave it at him. "Let's hope it has my brains and your beauty." I take put the pancake in my mouth and it tastes so delicious. I hurry to cut another piece. "Mmm…" I mumble, as the sugary sweet flavours melt into my mouth. "This is really good." Jace hasn't touched his food yet and he's missing out. We should be coming here more often. After a few more mouthfuls, I drop my fork and turn in the booth to face him. He hasn't started yet and if he doesn't then I'm going to eat his food. He is too wrapped up in that darn app.

Once the lady has set a glass of cold water in front of me she disappears and Jace leans in. His lips are close to my ear. What's he going to do now? Kiss me? Talk to me? "Are your breast tender at all?" He whispers his question just for me to here.

My face turns bright red. "I can't believe you just asked me that whilst I'm eating my breakfast. Now you've just ruined it for me."

Jace tugs my plate away from me. "Well, if you're not going to eat them then I may as well."

"Hell no," I say retaining the plate back. "These bad boys are mine." I pick up the fork and continue to shovel the pancake into my mouth. "If I answer your question will you eat?"

Jace nods his head and places his phone down onto the table.

"I haven't really noticed. I mean, I've just found out. I don't know what my body is meant to feel like. I can't say that this twinge or that feeling is because of the baby because I don't know. The Doctor did the test and when she told me I kinda ran away from her office because I didn't want to believe it."

"When did you find out?" The question sounds like it's been burning on his lips.

As much as I wanted to say a few days ago I don't. I tell the truth because he deserves it. "I found out the day of Bills funeral. I would have told you Jace. I'm not that cold. I just needed to check my options because I was scare you wouldn't want me to have it. I'm really scared of having this baby, knowing it could be a part of him, growing inside of me."

When Jace pulled the Jeep up onto the drive, my fears and nerves tumble together in the pit of my stomach. I should be used to emotion but every time it hits hard and different. Pops is going to freak that his youngest Daughter is pregnant by a rapist douche ball or my Fiancé. Please Mum, if you're up there do not make him have a heart attack. And please let this baby be Jace's. I pray to myself, hoping she's watching over me.

"You ready to do this?" Jace asked me, pulling my hand to his lips and kissed the back of my hand a couple of times.

"As ready as I'll ever be."

The house is quiet when we step inside, only Mum and Phoebe are in. They are having girls time but that's about to be ruined by me and my news. Zak storms through the door, followed by Leon and Aaron. Zak looks pissed off. "This better be good, Dillon had something planned and... Never mind." He comes and slums on the sofa picking up the remote and changing the channel. Suddenly an argument burst out between him and Phoebe. I try to block them out but I can't they are too loud. I switch off my hearing aid which quietens the noise down a little.

All of a sudden I need to use the bathroom and I quickly leave Jace and everyone else whilst I go up to bathroom. After washing hands with the nice scent soap, I glance at my face in the mirror. I see the real image staring back at me. Whoever she is, she isn't happy. She looks grumpy and miserable. When I put on a smile, it only looks face and plastic. I sigh and hang my head down. "Get a grip Lydia."

At my words, I stand up straight and smooth out my outfit. I switch my hearing aid back up and decide it's time to go and stop hiding away. I unlock the door and swing it open to see my pretty Noodles sitting in the doorway waiting for me. Oh crap! "Noodles, give me that?" I say lowering myself down to her level. Between her drooling mouths is the empty box which I tossed out after checking if I was pregnant or not. Noodles takes on a stubbornness and cocks her head to the side, protectively. She isn't going to let go. "Noodles please, for Mummy?" Through her teeth, she growls before pounding her paws away from me and down the hallway. "Noodles!" I call out for her and run after her. She pauses on the top step to look at me. "Do you want a treat?"I say trying to bribe her with nonexistent treats in my pocket. With her big dark eyes, she watches me carefully as I kneel in front of her with fist, pretending to hide the treat. "Do you want this?" She carefully steps forwards and her nose starts to sniff. I quickly try to take the test box from her but she's already pelting down the stairs. I follow after her and hear more voices and when I round the corner I see there are a lot of Greys here. Noodles runs straight into the room and jumps up at Pops' leg.

"Hey girl," He says rubbing her head like she's a good girl when she actually isn't. She's mean. God, she's clever for a dog. "What have you got there?" I step around the corner and I meet Jace's eyes. He must see the fear me but he smiles before trying to hold his laughter in. This is so not funny. I didn't want them to find out about this in this way. I'm going to crawl into a dark room and never ever come out.

Pops takes the box from Noodles and holds it up.

"What is it?" Mum asks as she peers around him. Suddenly her shock escapes the air, gaining everyone's attention. They follow Mum's gaze and everyone is eyeballing the text box in Pops' hands. My face is already as red as a beetroot; I don't think I can get any redder but I do. Jace steps towards me and holds his hand out. I take it more for support that just to touch him. We step forward in front of everyone. I can't believe this is happening.

"Is that what I think it is?" Auntie Kate stands up abruptly, leaving Uncle Elliot seated alone to come closer to take a look. When she raises her eyes up from the test she doesn't have a warm look in her eyes either. She has a look that could kill us in a heartbeat. "Are you two stupid?!" She shouts at us.

"Mum it's not what-"

Auntie Kate grabs the box from Pops and holds it up into Jace's face. "Then what is it Jace because by the look of it, you've got her pregnant and your about to tell us this?"

"Yes but no, yes." Jace suddenly goes into shy weak mode. It rips my heart to see him something that he isn't. He's strong and confident. But she's making him weak.

"Do you ever listen, Jace? Your Uncle already laid the rules down when you arrived here. But you can't keep to your promises can you!" Auntie Kate is really mad.

"This isn't his fault." My voice croaked out as I stepped between Jace and his frustrated Mother. "It might not even be his. So don't have a go at him. If you want someone to scream at, then do it at me. I'm to blame here." I've never been this confident with anyone. I would never talk back to someone like this. It feels mean to but I can't have her be horrible to her only Son.
"You're not…" Jace says behind me, to remind me that it's not my fault either. "Mistake happen Mom."

"I can't stand the sight of you anymore…" Kate huffs out. She storms out of the room and bangs the front door on her way out.

I look down at my feet as the room remains silent and everyone's eyes are on us. "You say it might not be Jace's," Uncle Elliot's voice came into view as he stands up from his position. He clearing was listening. "Have you cheated on my Son?"

I lift my gaze along his tall figure and see his blonde hair is in the way of his blue eyes. Does he really think I would do that? I couldn't respond to that because my throat is too choked up. I shake my head. "Then what?" He snaps.

I've never seen the friendly Elliot get snappy before. This time, Jace pushes me behind him and him and his Father glare at each other. "Don't speak to her like that."
"Jace," Mum's voice enters. "What's going on?" I look at her and she got her hand pressed against Pops' arm where he stands frozen looking at the box that's been dropped on the floor, oblivious to what is going on around him.

Not liking to see Pops in such a state, I blurt out, "It could possibly be Darnell's." I slip my hand through Jace's and decide I've had enough. I need some alone time with him. I pull him away from his Father and towards the stairs. We head up them and into my bedroom. I slam the door and decided to push a heavy chair against the door.

"Don't do that," Jace says worriedly. "Go lie down. I've got this." I nod my head and shrug off my blazer and let it fall to the floor. After unfastening my trainers, I climb into the bed and lie down on my back. Jace pushes the heavy chair in front of the door before kicking his own trainers off and joining me on the bed. We curl up together and stay silent, just holding one another, letting our hot tears spill.

Teddy Grey

"Did she just say what I thought she said?"Phoebe's voiced burst out just as Lydia and Jace went up the stairs. "She's carrying Darnell's baby. The guy who-"

I instantly cut her off. Nobody needs to hear those words and I'm pretty sure if she said them that Dad will hit something. "Might be…" I corrected her, remaining my eyes on both my Mother and Father. I'm not sure how they're going to react to this because they haven't said a word yet.

Okay, so Jace messed up by sleeping with my Sister. I don't want to think about that. But he shouldn't have. He knows the damn rules. I understand, however, when you love someone you want to show them how much you do. Surly, Mum and Dad will understand that.

Now that Lydia announced it might not be Jace's, I understand why she went to the clinic in the first place. With the pieces fitting together I turn to my parents. "Don't be angry with her." Mum glared at me and shook her head, telling me to remain quiet. She's also scared of Dad's reaction but I'm not. "She went to a clinic today to abort the baby." Dad's head sprung up to meet my eyes. "Without a word to you," I looked at my parents then to Uncle Elliot. "To Jace or to anybody." I watched as Dad's fist grew tighter. Yep, he's going to break something or someone in just under a minute. "When we got there she looked absolutely terrified." When I caught her standing and watching Jace's actions, I saw how scared she was, is. She doesn't want to lose Jace or anyone for that matter. "Don't be too harsh on them…" I turn my attention back onto Elliot. "Jace is going through hell and he could do with you and Auntie Kate support right now." With that I let the room fall silent again and I leave to give Dotty a call. I need some distraction away from this mad mad family.
