Author's Note: Sorry for the delay, I had trouble writing this chapter. It was starting to sound like the other chapters and that bothered me. Anyway thank you guys so much for the reviews and liking the story! I can't believe there are over 800 reviews! That is crazy! I have never written something this long or gotten so many reviews before so I'm glad you guys still like it! Please let me know what you think about this chapter! It was really difficult to write. Writing lynn is hard and so was writing logan in this chapter for some reason. I figured in the show he'd want to meet his brother since he had no family memebrs left, but since his mom is still around i'm not sure how he'd feel especially being younger and about to have a kid. I also always wondered if Lynn knew, you know, I know most of you didn't like her last chapter, so I tried to show her side of things. Anyway hope you guys like it! Only four chapters to go!

Thank you to: tigerlady1981, cantarams, viki, Lu, Guest, amandamary, Sunkissu9, hansongirl14, Guest, Bondopoulos, kerali, AngelPete87, & coolhan08!

Chapter 46 The Worry

Logan was still sleeping when Veronica got up the next morning. They had parenting classes that day, but not for a few hours so Veronica let him continue to sleep as she went downstairs to get some breakfast. She was surprised when she walked into the kitchen to find Lynn up, reading a tabloid, and drinking her morning coffee.

Veronica wasn't sure what to do, since the incident from last night was still fresh in her mind. Since the day they had met when Veronica came over for a play date with Logan at the age of twelve, Lynn had only ever been pleasant to Veronica, but after her outburst from last night Veronica was beginning to see what Logan had, had to put up with for all of these years. A very conflicted woman, who wanted to do right, but had no idea of who she was.

She tentatively entered the kitchen knowing that they were going to have to have a conversation at some point since they lived in the same house. Lynn looked up at Veronica and something flashed across her face that she couldn't describe. The two women stared at each other uncomfortably and for a split second Veronica wondered if things were going to escalate into worse territory and Lynn would throw her out of the house.

"Have a seat, Veronica." Lynn said nodding to the chair across from her.

Veronica came forward with trepidation and sat in the island chair waiting to see what would happen. Veronica wanted to apologize, but at the same time she was still reeling from Lynn wanting to keep secrets from Logan. Now that Aaron was gone, Veronica had thought that Lynn wanted to start over and for that to happen the secrets were going to have to stop.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday, but you have to understand I wanted to tell Logan about him when the time was right." Lynn said apologetically.

Veronica sat there and waited for her to go on, but when she didn't Veronica decided it was time for her to speak. "I know, it's been difficult for you, but keeping secrets from Logan isn't going to make things go away or fix them. I am sorry I told him, but you can't seriously believe that I would keep something like that from him. I love him, I can't lie to him." She admitted softly.

Lynn smiled forlornly, "Sometimes you have to lie to your children, Veronica. I didn't want Logan to know because we're done with Aaron, that includes everything involved with him. Yes, we'll live off of his money while he's in jail and Logan will collect his Trust-fund when he turns twenty-one, as well as getting all of the profits from his father's movies, but besides the money Aaron is out of our lives, that includes his children as well. I would've told Logan, eventually maybe years from now when he was ready. You saw what I said to Trina to keep her away from the two of you, the same can be said for this Charlie Stone." Lynn said trying to make Veronica see where she was coming from.

"When you become a parent, Veronica, you'll understand better. You want to protect your children from everything. You want them to be unharmed and safe. I recognize asking you to lie was harsh, but my main priority is taking care of Logan and making sure he lives a happy life whatever the price may be." Lynn added staring across the island at Veronica.

"What about what Aaron did to him? Did you protect him then?" Veronica said without thinking.

Lynn regarded her through sad eyes and Veronica knew she'd said the wrong thing.

"I'll admit, I haven't been the best mother, but now that Aaron is out of our lives I intend to do better. Becoming a parent is hard Veronica, I can't pretend to be all knowing or give you advice, but I can tell you that everything you thought you'd be and do for your child isn't how it happens. I know you and Logan probably think you'll love each other forever and the child will be the best person in the world, but sometimes life just has a habit of breaking you down until you are nothing. You can understand that, right? Nothing is ever how it seems." Lynn said quietly looking away from Veronica and out the window.

"I trust you'll take good care of Logan, Veronica, but remember people change and they grow. How we are at sixteen isn't how we'll be at thirty or fifty." Lynn added standing up and giving her a desolate smile.

"You'll understand when you're older." Lynn added patting Veronica's hand and then disappearing from the kitchen. Veronica sat there not knowing how to take what Lynn said. Eventually Logan came to join her for breakfast and then they went to go get ready for their parenting classes and the hospital tour.

Veronica tried to ignore Lynn's words as they drove to the hospital, but she couldn't help thinking of them and what they truly meant. She knew Lynn was trying to be supportive, but Veronica wondered exactly how deep and terrible the mental and physical abuse Aaron had bestowed upon Lynn went. She wondered if Lynn actually thought all of those things were true or if years of being torn down had turned her into the shell of a person she was today. Veronica felt for the woman, but she still thought it was wrong to hide such a big thing from Logan. She felt Logan deserved better.

"What are you thinking about?" Logan asked studying her facial expression that he knew to be her pensive one at a stoplight.

"Last night." She said quietly.

He leered at her and wiggled his eyebrows. "It still amazes me how bendy you are even though your carrying our child."

She glared at him and crossed her arms over her chest making her enlarged breasts pop out in her V-neck sweater. She began to rant to Logan, but he wasn't paying attention his sole focus completely focused on her plump breasts. It wasn't until the car behind him honked did he finally press the acceleration.

"…I mean I don't know what to do about your mom." She finished not noticing in the slightest that Logan hadn't been paying attention.

He frowned noticing that she didn't pick up on his less than attentive attitude. It wasn't anything like her to miss details and usually she would've called him out by now for leering at her. "What?" he asked realizing she'd been talking about his mom.

She turned and scowled at him.

"Have you been listening to me?" she asked irritably.

"Uh…" he said wondering if he should be honest or lie.

She huffed and rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Logan! I'm trying to talk to you."

"I'm sorry. I was driving." He said pathetically.

"I was talking about your mom and what she said to me this morning." She said quietly.

He glanced over at her, "what? What did she say?"

Veronica sighed heavily. "Just…are you upset she didn't say anything about you having a brother?"

Logan glanced over at her and shrugged, "It's not surprising." He said nonchalantly.

"Not surprising? How?"

"I mean, that Aaron had kids with other women. It's not surprising or weird. I don't know. I mean, I'm more angry at my mom for lying to me and asking you not to tell me." He said quietly pulling into the parking lot at the hospital.

"You heard that part?"

He nodded and pulled into a parking spot. "I'm angry at my dad too. I don't know I don't want to talk about it. So I have a brother. Lots of people have brothers. So my parents won't win any parental awards, big deal they both lost way before now."

She looked over at him and studied his face wondering if maybe he was just saying that to drop the subject.

"You'd tell me right? I mean, if you wanted to talk about it. I'm here if you do." She said soothingly.

"Yeah I know, but I don't want to talk about it. Mostly I just want to go get this class over with plus the tour, go home, and repeat our bed adventures from last night. I don't want to think about my parents." He said softly reaching over and taking her hand.

She smiled briefly at the thought of last night and then sighed looking up at the hospital building. "I hate the women in these classes. They just ask me a bunch of questions about you."

He smirked and turned to her with a mischievous smile. "Come on, the sooner we get this over with the sooner I can get you naked and into bed again."

She shook her head in amusement. "You know I'm the size of a house right? I have stretch marks and I can't even see my feet anymore, that's how huge I am."

He kissed her softly on the lips and she sighed in contentment wanting to go further, but knowing they had places to be. "I still think you're beautiful no matter what you look like – plus it's an added bonus that you're having my kid too that makes you even sexier – and I love you. Now let's go, I'm ready to be done with this." He said getting out of the car and coming around to help her down so they could go inside.

They went into the room for their class and like every time other parents curious about what was going on with Aaron and wanting to know about the trial accosted them.

Since the arraignment was coming up soon Logan and Veronica had gained even more popularity in their Lamaze classes much to their chagrin. Veronica had even caught their picture being taken by one of the other moms and she'd politely explained to her that if that picture got out she and Logan would cheerfully sue them since they were minors. She also couldn't help, but add in the fact that the Sheriff was her father and wasn't so forgiving when things came to his daughter.

The class had gone much the same as it had in every other class they'd taken, except this time they were made to watch a birthing video at the end followed by a tour of the hospital.

Logan and Veronica cuddled on the mat and sat patiently as the teacher set up the video.

"Didn't we have to watch this in health?" Logan asked curiously.

Veronica shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't taken it yet. I was supposed to take in with Lilly, but…" she trailed off and Logan tightened his hold around her.

"I took it." He said quietly as the opening scenes began.

"Did you watch it?"

"I don't know I skipped like every day to smoke with Dick, Casey, and Luke."

Veronica rolled her eyes and cuddled closer in to his side as the husband encouraged the wife to breathe. Angela began to explain what was going on and the more the movie went on the more nervous Veronica become. True, she had read the books and knew what happened in the delivery room, but as she watched the women go from composed to downright screaming she began to feel very afraid of what was to come.

By the time the women began to push Veronica couldn't look at the TV and instead she was paying attention to the other mother's. Some of them looked unperturbed by the situation and others had their mouths open in horror. Veronica tried to mask her own feelings about seeing the birth video as the women began to scream even louder and the doctor announced that the baby was crowning. She concentrated on the video player below the TV until the movie was over and Angela asked if there were any questions. The entire room was silent and the tension was thick with nervousness after seeing the video.

"Ok! Everyone who is going on the tour today please come with me." She said walking past them and going to the door to the classroom. Logan stood up and helped Veronica up.

"So?" he asked hanging back so he could talk to her in private.

She shrugged, "Pretty much what I expected." She lied hoping he wouldn't see her fib.

He raised an eyebrow at her and slowly began to walk seeing that Angela was counting them to make sure everyone was there.

"Liar." He mumbled taking her hand and pulling her along.

She frowned and chewed her lip tightening her hold on his hand.

"It's ok to be scared." He said quietly as they walked behind the other couples in the hospital tour group.

"I don't want to talk about this now." She said trying to ignore the echoes of the screams of the women from the TV. She couldn't believe that she was going to have to do that in a few weeks.

"Veronica—"

"Shh Angela is talking." Veronica said motioning to the front of the tour.

Logan sighed and listened to Angela explain what they were going to have to do when they came into the hospital and what paperwork they could fill out before hand and what paper work they had to fill out after. She showed them the different rooms they could book and where the baby would be once it was born. As they went deeper into the hospital they began to hear screams and Veronica immediately stiffened up. She looked over at Logan and noted that he was just as pale.

"Oh everyone! Look! Someone is welcoming a new little human into this world!" Angela chirped indicating to a room where the screams could be heard.

Logan and Veronica exchanged looks as the screams got louder and Veronica really began to wonder what would happen when she finally gave birth. Would she scream like that? Would she be like the woman in the video? Her doctor already told her that since she was so tiny there might be complications and a C-section might have to be done. Regardless of all of it though, Veronica was scared shitless of labor.

They got home a few hours later having stopped for something to eat. Neither of them talked much both lost in their own thoughts. When they got home they went to the living room having decided to watch a movie.

"You guys are home early." Lynn said seeing them sitting on the couch. She was wearing her exercise clothes so they knew she'd just been working with Alfonso.

"We've been out most of the day." Logan said neglecting to look at his mother still angry about the brother revelation.

Lynn sighed and sat down in one of the armchairs near Logan. She looked over at Veronica who made an excuse of going to the bathroom, which wasn't entirely an excuse.

When she was gone Lynn turned to Logan and put a hand on top of his resting on the couch arm.

"Logan, I know you're angry at me." She began.

"You think." He mumbled pulling is hand from under hers.

"I am sorry, Logan, but you have to understand I was going to tell you eventually. I just didn't think now was the right time with your father about to go in for his arraignment and how you were testifying. You aren't in the best mindset to begin with and I just want to protect you." Lynn said quietly.

Logan let out a bark of laughter and shook his head his eyes finally meeting hers. "Protect me? From the man that beat me most of my life? When were you then? Oh that's right, you were there watching from behind your glass of vodka and your bottle of pills. I don't need protecting, mom. I just need a parent who will at least tell me the truth. It seems to be so much to ask for in this family." He said angrily.

"I know you're angry Logan, but I was doing what is best for you. You'll understand when you're a parent."

"When I'm a parent I won't lie to my kids."

She was quiet for a moment searching his face to see if he could understand where she was coming from. "I'm sorry, Logan. I really am, but it is what it is. If you want to talk about it, I'm here, but just know that I had every intention of telling you eventually. Aaron's out of our lives finally for good and I figured that since he is everyone that has to do with him is too. I want to start over as a family." She said reaching out to touch his face.

He turned away and got off the couch ready to walk away. "I get that, mom, I do. I just I need time to process this." He said before leaving the living room. Lynn watched him go unsure of if she should follow him or not. She decided against it knowing he needed time to digest what had just happened.

Logan left the living room and went upstairs to his bedroom wanting to just be alone for a few minutes. When he entered the bedroom he was surprised to find Veronica sitting on the bed with tears coming down her face.

"What's wrong?" he asked hurrying towards her and gently putting a soothing hand on her face.

She shook her head and hid her face not wanting him to see her cry.

"Veronica? What's wrong?" he asked nervously. He wondered if she was that upset about what had happened between him and his mother or whether he did something he wasn't aware of yet.

She let out a sob and he folded her into his arms and gently began to rock her. She was quiet for a long time and just cried. When she finally calmed down he asked again what was wrong.

"I can't do it." She whimpered.

"Can't do what?" he asked confused over her crying.

He felt disconcerted since she was so strong and generally never cried over anything, he wondered if it was hormones and maybe she saw another sad animal commercial. Those always seemed to get her going.

"Labor. That woman on the video and then at the hospital! I just don't think I can do it." She said shaking her head.

Logan pulled away from her and looked down at her tear stricken face. "Ronnie, come on you're the strongest person I know. If anyone can get through this you can and besides I'll be there the whole time holding your hand and cheering you on." He said thinking about what the husband in the video had done. Truth be told though he wasn't sure how he was going to get through watching her in so much pain for hours on end. If he had trouble with her crying watching her scream, cry, and curse, was going to be torture.

"You're just saying that because you have to." She sniffed wiping her eyes.

He smiled slightly and pulled her closer kissing her on top of the forehead. "Maybe. Or else I'm saying it because it's true and I love you." he said.

She was quiet for a minute and he noticed her breathing had finally calmed down. "What if I can't do it though? What if—"

"Veronica, you can do this. Don't ever think differently. You've helped me so much in the last few months with my dad I've seen your strength and your bravery, you're going to do fine." he said caressing her cheek.

She nodded once and then leaned into him. "How'd it go with your mom?" she asked wanting to change the subject.

"She tried to talk to me about it."

"What'd she say?"

"That she was sorry."

Veronica was silent not knowing what to say. She felt for Lynn, but she would side with Logan in a heartbeat. Besides she didn't condone Lynn lying when she was trying to rebuild a life for them.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No."

They sat silently wrapped around each other both lost to their own demons. Logan couldn't help, but wonder about his brother and what his mother had said and Veronica's mind played on repeat the birthing video.

"We'll be ok, right?" she asked needing reassurance on her worries, his, and the ticking time bomb that was the birth.

"Yeah." He said pulling her closer and kissing her hard needing his own reassurance he pulled her down to the bed and they got lost in each other both needing a distraction from their lives.

The next morning Logan woke up early and decided to go surfing. Once he was finished he went back home and was surprised to see his mom in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Where's Mrs. Navarro?" he asked watching his mother try to make eggs.

"I gave her the day off." She said.

"And you decided to cook?"

She sighed heavily and glanced over at him with a melancholy expression on her face. "I wanted to talk to you about Charlie again." She said turning the stove off and dumping the eggs into the trash since they were a weird combination of burnt and runny.

He shook his head and turned away not wanting a repeat of the day before.

"Logan, please, I need you to understand why I didn't want you to know. Please forgive me." She said reaching out to stop him.

"Fine. Whatever. I forgive you ok." He said throwing his hands up and moving out of the kitchen. He stopped though and turned around needing to add one last thing.

"But I don't forgive you for asking Veronica to lie to me." He said before walking away and out of the kitchen. Lynn watched helplessly as her only son walked away from her and she knew this wouldn't be the last time this happened.

(A/n: So what did you think? Please review! Next up is the arraignment and some more heart to hearts with Lynn)
