Sasuke eyes opened lazily, then he shot up in a panic. Hinata wasn't in her bed, he always woke up first. He scanned the room, then checked the sitting room. His senses were bombarded with the smell of food. She was bustling around her kitchen seeming to be careful not to make a sound yet she was humming softly. He let relief wash over him as he came to the counter and sat.
She mumbled a good morning and handed him breakfast. She kept sweeping around the kitchen making more food than what they could eat.
"We expecting company?" He asked after being thoroughly ignored.
"Y-yes, Sasori-san and Deidara-san are coming they have research material for me and are bringing supplies." She seemed to be doing better now that she was home. He noticed her mornings with him at the bunker had been slow and mourningful. She was full of light today it seemed, her face was tinged red with the blood rushing. She looked more alive today then he had seen her before, even after sparing.
When she finished all the odd preparations and took his empty plate she gave huff to her clean kitchen. Then started work on the rest of the house. She had a bucket and a rag, she leaned down on her hand and knees and started to scrub the floor. He now noticed the stained loose pants and baggy shirt she had tied in the back taught to her body as to not dip it on the floor.
"Would you like help?" He asked getting agitated that he was being ignored once again.
"Th-that's not necessary." She called back over her shoulder.
He finally huffed toward her and took the rag from her. "I'll do the floor at least." She blinked at him a few times he could see the cloud of confusion before she nodded going on to the next task going right back to ignoring him. Well, at least he had something to do now. He scrubbed the floor for her she crept around the dry parts of the floor as she floated from room to room. He had scrubbed the floors till his fingers were raw. He sat up to wipe his forehead and was meet with a cold glass held out to him and smiling face.
Her body aches in such a good way, she stretched her sore muscles and smiles. Her house was clean and she loved having done so much in one day.
"You're too happy." She heard Sasuke grumble coming into the room, hair still wet from his shower.
"I-I'm just glad the house is clean." She explained.
"Did we have to do it all in one day?" He complained plopping down on his bed beside her.
"S-Sasori-san and Deidara-san are coming." She explained again. She always made sure they were taken care of when they came to visit, just coming home was no excuse not to. What if they came home to her mess and didn't want to come back she would be heartbroken.
"I really don't think they would have minded." He plopped back on his bed with a groan of pain. She giggled at his dramatics.
"I-I would have." She crawled under her covers and could already hear him snoring. With last amused look at his matt she rolled over and fell asleep.
"Go!" She couldn't move she stared frantically between Sasuke and Neji. They both looked murderous.
"I-I'm not leaving you." She cried back.
Sasuke turned his head to glare at her and yell once more and got hit in the chest with a blinding light.
"NO!" She screamed launching forward to catch him. He convulsed in her arms and she could summon any chakra to heal him. She slammed her hands into his chest but nothing worked he stop convulsing and laid still. "H-How could you!?" She screamed at her cousin as she pulled the second Uchiha she had lost to her chest.
"How could you?" He stated coldly turning his back to her and walking away. She rocked the body and cried.
"HINATA WAKE UP!" She was being shaken, her mismatched eyes focused on him. She coughed, choking on her cries and throw herself into him barring her face into his chest. Clinging to him, the alive him, not the corpse.
"I-It was too real." She whimpered. She felt him curl around her protectively his breath steadied, his heart beat lowered, and his head dropped to rest on hers.
He let out a sigh, he sounded relieved. "It's the Sharingan." He whispered into her hair.
She broke down, she had lost Itachi, she couldn't lose his little brother too. Sasuke was too important to him.
He had a hard time understanding she could be looking murders in the eye fearlessly and spar, then ofter a gentle healing hand, and still break down in his arms. The dreams he knew were vivid and felt real, he had a victim of them many nights before.
He mentally kicked himself, he wasn't even the bedroom when she started screaming. He had gotten up to get a drink and decided to make tea, he sat in the kitchen while he drank and read one her numerous books.
He knew she was a little too happy to be home, he knew it was too perfect.
Now she was broken falling apart, cling to him like he would disappear the moment he let her go. What had she saw? The dreams were vivid, but what would crush her so thoroughly.
He pulled back a bit in an attempt to ask, but she didn't let go, her grip on got tighter as he tried to move away. "I'm not leaving." She was silent her body still racked with quiet sobs. "There's tea in the kitchen." He tried, it didn't work either. He sighed deeply. "Well let's at least make it a bit more comfortable." He took hold of her thighs lifting her weight higher. She responding by desperately waving her arms from his chest to latch around his shoulders and barring her face in his neck. He raised her to his waist and he legs latched on too. He carefully stood up, keeping his grip on her thighs, there was no way she was coming off if he let go, but it would give her a little comfort he was trying to drop her. He moved to the sitting room dragging the blanket from her bed. He sat down settling her in his lap wrapping the blanket and his arms around her securely.
She was embarrassed, horribly embarrass. She had calmed and realized how silly it was to have clung to him. It was only a dream, but it had felt so real.
"You okay?" He asked he seemed groggy, she felt bad. Didn't he say he was up already? She nodded lifting her head. His eyes didn't show anger or disappointment, he just looked tired. "Will you tell me?" He asked softly.
The way Itachi would. "Y-You..." She couldn't her heart clenched. "I-I'm sorry."
"Me?" She flinched and started to peel herself off of him. He didn't let go. "What about me?" He asked again. She pulled back again and he didn't hold her back again.
"D-dead, N-N-Neji-nii-san..." His face washed over in realization. He nodded calmly. He didn't press more, she mentally thanked him.
"Tea's probably cold now." He commented to his cup on the counter.
She jumped at the opportunity to put some space between them. "I-I'll make it some." She said all too quickly. She stumbled to the kitchen heating water staring at the flames in the stove trying to wash her mind of her vivid dream.
Sasuke didn't move from his spot, it scared her sometimes how he knew directly when she need space and when she need closeness. When the kettle screamed she made the tea and brought it to him. He gave her a quiet thank you. The sipped their tea in silence she was left to her thoughts her face turned redder.
She looked up to see his smirk. What was funny? She started to search herself for something funny.
"You think too much princess." He gave a faint chuckle into his cup.
