Chapter 55

Hope you like it, leave a review if you did :)

"That's the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they're not much to look at, or even if they're sort of stupid, you fall in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can."
-J. D. Salinger

"Are you expecting anyone?" Will asked suspiciously after the doorbell rang at 10pm while we were cooking dinner, really using the new kitchen for the first time and being quite excited about it.
I shook my head. "Can you look who it is?" I pleaded, hiding behind the wall in my sweatpants.
"Sure." He put the spoon back in the pan and went for the door.
"Who is it?" I called.
"Umm.. I'm not sure but it's not for me." I heard him close the door and something that sounded like a sob.
I recognized the pitch immediately but peeked around the corner just to make sure. It was Penelope, dressed in a very colorful dress and sparkling blue Ugg boots. I wondered if I'd ever seen her in flats before. Mascara was running down her face, making her look like a raccoon.
"What happened?" I asked shocked, taking her in my arms.
"I'm on my period."
"I'm out." Will announced and disappeared in the kitchen.
"Ok. I need more details." I slowly took her bag from her and placed it on the ground.
"Kevin and I had a fight and you know how when I'm on my period I always get emotional too quickly. Anyway it wasn't even that bad but then I basically freaked out and we were yelling at each other and this time he refused to leave the apartment so I had to and I didn't know where to go because last time I got drunk and almost had sex with Morgan and Emily had a date and I doubt I'm going to end up having sex with you so-
"You better not." Will called.
"Shut up." I said lovingly, he blew me a kiss in response.
"-I need a place to stay." She went on, still crying, smelling of alcohol and glazed donuts.
"Of course." When I was sure she wouldn't break down, I loosened the embrace and told her to come in. "We were just making dinner."
"This late?" She wiped the tears away, leaving her face even messier than before.
"Are you judging us?"
"No, of course not." She sat down. "Why are men so fucking ignorant."
"I'm not sure whether I'm in the position to answer that." Will poured the spaghetti in the pan on top of the sauce.
"They're dicks." I agreed, giving him a mean look.
"Are you hungry, too?" He put a plate down in front of Penelope.
She nodded in response.
"Maybe you should start at the beginning."
"I was baking and he just told me to clean up after it and I always do so I got really upset because it sounded like I don't so I suppose I bitched at him a little and I don't know what happened but we ended up insulting each other and pointing out every flaw we ever noticed and for God's sake I know I spend a lot of time at work and off work with you guys but that doesn't mean I neglect him." She said angrily.
Everyone at the office's favorite topic: Work hours.
Will put the pasta on the table and silently started eating while I tried comforting her further. Now and again he would defend the male race whenever Garcia went too far but all in all he didn't really engage in the conversation. Wise man.
After dinner he disappeared in the still half empty office, that basically only consisted of my old desk, and left us alone so we could talk on about how much we hated men.
We had made it from the kitchen to the living room to the bedroom without her really calming down or seeing Will's face again. At least she had cleaned her face by now and didn't look so scary anymore.
"I mean, he's not the skinniest person on earth either, I just-" A quiet knock on the door interrupted her.
Will carefully opened it to check if we were naked. "Do you girls need anything else?"
"Wine." Garcia sighed.
He looked at me for help, I shook my head with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry, I removed it all from the apartment, or else JJ would have already emptied it." He smirked, disappearing in the bathroom for a few seconds and coming out, holding his toothbrush. "I'll take the guest bathroom."
I squeezed my eyes at him. "Have fun on the couch." I waved.
He hesitated for a moment but went forward to kiss me on the lips. "Goodnight to you too." He smiled.
"Feel free to make eggs for us in the morning." I pulled his face to mine once again.
"In your dreams." He started walking away.
"That is correct." I called after him and heard him chuckle.
"Was that really necessary?" Penelope blinked the half-dried tears away.
"I'm sorry." I apologized. "Of course Will is an ignorant bastard as well and I hate him too."
"I don't hate Kevin." She reminded me.
"I know you don't. Now how about some sleep?" I pulled the blanket over her legs like a child's.
"You're gonna be a great mommy." She noted and lay her head down on the pillow. "I'm sorry for ruining your night."
"Don't worry."
"I'll regret all of this in the morning."
"Yes you will." I stroked her hair until she dozed off.
I tried falling asleep too but felt wide awake when I heard the TV in the living room.
I made sure she was fast asleep before I slipped out under the blanket.
Will sat on the couch, watching a lame action movie I'd seen before but he was more focused on his phone anyway. I sat down next to him without a comment.
"Hey." He put his phone away, putting one arm around me. "How is she?"
"Asleep." I sighed, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry we're dicks."
"You better be." I pinched his shoulder.
"How are you feeling?"
"We still don't have a colour for the nursery." I sighed.
"I will leave these walls white before you paint them yellow." He threatened.
"That's a warm and welcoming colour I don't understand your issue."
"My issue? It's a boy and I have a picture to prove that."
I giggled. "It's such a cliché to paint it blue."
"Yes people choose it for a reason."
"Peer pressure." I murmured.
"Well how about green?"
"Simple as that?" I turned my head to him? "Blue and yellow mixed together because we couldn't decide on one?"
"That's a great story we will tell him on his 18th birthday." Will said satisfied with himself.
"I like it." I agreed.
"What day does the furniture arrive again?"
"Monday."
"Good. That gives us two whole days to paint it."
"You." I coughed innocently.
"It'll be my pleasure." He placed a kiss on my hair.
"Well..." I stretched my legs out on the couch and put my head in his lap. "I wonder who would feel more uncomfortable if we went to bed now. You or Penelope when she wakes up."
"I'm going with me." He smiled and started to slowly brush my hair with his fingers. "But you go to bed. Don't worry about me."
"I slept in that bed for the past 3 nights and it doesn't feel any less empty with Garcia in it."
He was going to answer but I pulled his face down to mine to make him shut up.
"Why doesn't Garcia sleep on the couch?"
"Good luck carrying her." I laughed quietly.
"You have a point." He pursed his lips and stroked my hair until I fell asleep. Maybe even after that. I couldn't tell.

Garcia's mumbling to herself woke me up. The sun that shined through the living room window indicated that it wasn't very late. I looked up. Will had his feet up on the coffee table so I could sleep in his lap. My back ached.
"Oh my God." Garcia had finally made her way to the living room. "A 6 months pregnant woman had to sleep on the couch because of me." She covered her mouth with her hands. Black leftover mascara formed dark rings around her eyes, her hair resembled a bird's nest. I rarely saw her like that, she usually preferred to be perfectly styled whenever we showed up at her house.
"How are you feeling?" I stretched my legs out and got up slowly, which also woke Will.
"My head is about to explode but apart from that." She sighed.
"I'm sorry." I put the kettle on.
"I'm sorry." She looked at her reflection in the mirror and fumbled through her hair. "I don't know what happened last night."
"Me neither." Will joined us in the kitchen.
"I'm really sorry." Garcia apologized again. "I'm sure you imagined your night to go differently."
"Don't worry about it." He smiled and poured himself a cup of coffee.
"I thought you were loyal around me?" I raised my eyebrows.
"This is a special occasion, your head is heavier than you think."
"Aww." I grimaced and squeezed his cheeks.
He chuckled.
"Guess I gotta talk to Kevin now." Garcia took a sip of her coffee. I closed my eyes as I inhaled the scent of the steam.
"I don't really care, I'd just like my bed back tonight." Will yawned grumpily.
"I'm so, so sorry. I will never drink again." She rubbed her temples, joining his mood.
"Well I'm feeling very well rested." I lied with a smile and put my arms around each of their necks, hugging them tightly.
They moaned.
"Now you go and sort things out with Kevin." I kissed Penelope's cheek. "And you go get dressed so we can get the paint." I patted his shoulder and pushed him in the opposite direction.
