The next morning Rory and Logan are getting ready to head to their next stop. Today they are going through the Connemara Region. Once there they go to the Connemara National Park where they spend a few hours. Logan was able to get Rory to go on one of the shorter nature trails. They were able to see the beautiful wildlife and mountains. When they finished that Logan took Rory to the Tea House where she had fresh bean coffee with a slice of cake to go with her lunch.
From the park they went to Kylemore Abbey. They learned about the history and were able to see some of the restored rooms. Rory was fascinated by some of the ledges of Kylemore.
Rory surprised Logan by suggesting they go on one of the trails there as well. Rory reminded him that this was his anniversary trip too and they should do things he likes also. When they finished the trail they bought souvenirs for their family and friends. They stayed for dinner and enjoyed the amazing homemade food.
They went to bed that night preparing for the last leg of their trip before going home to their kids.
"We're headed back to Dublin today Ace." Logan tells her the next morning as they are finishing breakfast.
"I know." She says smiling. "I'm excited."
"And after that it's home to the kids."
"I can't wait to see my babies."
"If you're done we can get going."
"I am." She says standing.
On the way to Dublin they stop to visit Clonmacnoise. After spending a few hours there they continued on their way to Dublin.
"I'm glad we were able to do this." Rory tells Logan as he drives down the road.
"So am I." He says taking her hand. "So much of our day revolves around taking care of the kids and by the time they're in bed we're exhausted. I miss them like crazy but it's nice to get away together."
"And mom is over the moon that she gets to have them for this long. She misses them."
"I'm glad that they are getting a chance to know most of their grandparents."
"Do you ever think you'll patch things up with your mom."
"I don't know. I put up with a lot from her over the years but her suggesting I leave you to shack up with some good digger and let her raise the kids crossed the line. She claims she wants what's best for me and for me to be happy but she doesn't realize that you're all that and more."
"Okay."
"And in all this time not once has she tried to contact me to fix things."
"Just know I support you in whatever you decide." She says giving his hand a squeeze.
"Thank you."
As they reach Dublin Logan takes them to Phoenix Park the largest public park in Europe. After spending a couple of hours there even going to the zoo they went on.
They went to see Dublin castle and two Anglican Cathedrals. Lastly they went to Trinity College where Logan let Rory stay as long as she wanted to.
Logan booked a private tour of the campus which lasted forty minutes. After that they went to the library where he watched in awe as Rory got lost exploring the library.
"I'm sure you're going out of you mind with boredom." Rory says walking over to him an hour later. "We can go."
"I'm having fun watching you enjoy yourself and I know for a fact that you're not done yet. I saved this for last so you could stay as long as you wanted." He tells her.
"You're the best husband ever." She says giving him a kiss before wandering off again.
Logan picked up a book and found a comfortable place to sit. After another hour Rory came back to him.
"I'm done." She says getting his attention.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." She takes his hand when he stands. "Thank you."
"You're welcome Ace."
"What time do we leave tomorrow?"
"After breakfast. The plane is scheduled to take off at nine. We'll be in New York at eleven." He tells her. "Your mom and Luke will be there with the kids."
"Perfect. Where are we having dinner?"
"There's a pub near the hotel where they have music and dancing or we can go somewhere less lively?"
"The pub sounds fun."
They drop their stuff off at the hotel and head for the pub. They have an early dinner and then dance a little before leaving to get some rest.
The next morning they were up and dressed. They already had breakfast and were making sure they had all of their stuff. Taking one last look at the room they close the door and go to the car.
"I told Gracie she could wait up for us." Rory tells Logan as they near the airport. "I'm sure she'll end up falling asleep but she was happy."
While the bags are loaded on the plane they go inside.
Rory and Logan's plane lands in New York a little after eleven that night. Frank was there waiting for them. Once the bags were in the car he drove them home. The car is barely at a complete stop when Rory throws the door open. She drags Logan to the elevator and waits impatiently for it to reach their floor.
"Mommy." Gracie says when she sees Rory walk in.
"Hi baby I missed you so much." Rory says picking Gracie up and giving her a kiss. "Hi Luke."
"Hey Rory welcome back."
"Daddy." Gracie says reaching for him.
"Hi princess. I missed you." He says taking her from Rory. "I thought you would be sleeping."
"She took a late nap today." Lorelai says. "Hi Hun." She says giving Rory a hug. "Hi Logan." She says going to give him a hug too.
"Hi Lorelai."
"Bentley's sleeping?" Rory asks taking Gracie when she reaches for her.
"Yes. He was looking for you when we got here earlier. He got upset when he couldn't find you." She says. "How was your trip?"
"It was amazing." Rory tells her. "Are you sleepy honey?"
"No." Gracie says the yawn escaping her mouth betraying her.
"I'm going to go check on Bentley." Logan says after Frank brings their bags up.
"Okay." Rory says sitting down with Gracie straddling her lap. "Thank you so much for taking them mom. Everything went oaky?"
"They were perfect. Honor took Gracie yesterday for lunch. Bentley was fussy so he stayed with me."
"He looks like he grew." Logan says coming back down.
"Don't say that it's gonna make me sad." Rory says kissing Gracie as she buries her face in her chest.
"Why don't you to get to bed we'll talk more tomorrow." Lorelai says.
"Goodnight." Luke tells them.
"Goodnight." Rory and Logan tell them as both couples head upstairs.
Rory tucks Gracie in and checks on Bentley before going to bed.
I'm so glad they're vacation is over because writing about a country you've never been to is not an easy task. If anyone reading is from Ireland I hope I did a decent job at writing their stops and activities to where they weren't backtracking. The next chapter is almost done. I'm thinking there's about five more chapters before this is finished. Thank you for all your reviews. Enjoy.
