Chapter 52

The Guardian sat in the car as they traveled to the Safe House Location. He and his men were armed to the nines so that they would be prepared for anything. When they were less than a mile away from the House, they stopped and some of the men were motioned to scan the area. After a few minutes, the team came back and reported their findings.

"It's all Good sir," The informed the Guardian.

"Hmm, they must be in the house, then." The Guardian said.

"So what do we do?"

"We storm the place and make it so they can't get outside help."

"Yes sir," They told him. The Guardian messaged his crew at the Marathon.

"Is everything in place?"

"Yes sir, we have set them all up after the original sweeps as ordered. We will begin setting them off momentarily."

"Excellent! Once they go off you guys get out of there."

"Yes sir!" The Guardian hung up the phone.

"Let's begin." The Guardian looked at the men who were with him. They pulled up closer to the house in the clearing. The Guardian looked seeing there were in fact children toys outside for a two year old.

"Storm it," The Guardian told them as the men bum rushed the house. The Guardian walked inside behind them looking around when he noticed the house seemed rather…untouched. This didn't sit well with him at all.

Before, he could get a word out he heard gunshots ringing from upstairs.

"The hell?!" He looked in the direction of the Stairs.

"Don't move!" The Guardian looked back around seeing Fare pointing a gun at him with two other agents.

"Well I'll be damned." The Guardian raised his hands.

"So…the coordinates were fake? A Trap…"

"Yes they were and you fell right into it." Fare said as they removed the gun from his hand and put him handcuffs.

"Jim Donovan, you are under arrest, for Capital Murder, Acts of Terrorism…" Fare began reading him his Miranda rights.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know." The Guardian scoffed.

"Well then good, I don't have to recite that long speech considering all the crimes you've committed."

"Oh by the way…" The Guardian looked over at Fare.

"What?" Fare asked as his cell phone went off.

"Yes, this is Fare? What about the Marathon?" The Guardian gave a smile at Fare's expression.

"Something wrong Agent?" The Guardian asked mockingly.

"Yeah…" Fare looked at him with a smile of his own.

"We were able to locate all three bombs at the marathon before they went off." That turned the Guardian's face into Shock.

"One of your men informed your mole so they could get the coordinates for the marathon route and we were alerted of it. Thank Goodness we got them otherwise, those bombs would have caused some serious damage. We also caught your men who were there as well before they got ready to leave. One of your guys had the detonator in their pocket. Go figure, hey? That will be easy for even a rookie prosecutor."

"You bastard…" The Guardian felt his rage growing. "You Government Pig!"

"It's over Donovan. You lost." Fare told him. "Now we can put you down for good."

"I rather die than rot in one of your cells!" The Guardian spitted out.

"It's funny you mentioned that," Fare said placing his gun to the Guardian's head.

"This was a command from the President, an executive order if you will…to kill you on sight." Fare pulled the Trigger and placed a bullet between the Guardian's eyes. The Guardian fell back onto the floor with blood pouring out of the hole on his head and his mouth. It only took a matter of seconds before the guardian stopped moving completely, indicating that his life along with his reign of terror had ended.

"I assume you two will take care of it from here?" Fare asked the other two agents as he placed his gun back in the holster.

"That's our job," One of them commented. They were a part of the CIA's cleanup crew, whose job was to make any death look like something else. Their task for now was to make the Guardian's death look like he died in the line of fire. Fare walked out the room and immediately picked up his phone to call President Grant but decided to call another number instead.

Across town, at the real safe house, Olivia had just finished setting Nathan up with his lunch when the phone rang.

"Hello?" Evelyn Answered.

"Olivia it's for you," Evelyn called into the dining room. "It's Agent Fare." Olivia got up and took the phone from Evelyn.

"Hello Agent Fare?"

"Hello, Olivia. I have Good news."

"What's the Good news?"

"The Guardian is dead." Olivia's eyes widen when she heard that.

"He is….it's really…"

"Yes ma'am, it's over. We got him and his men. The Sons of Liberation have been taken down." Olivia was overwhelmed at the moment.

"It's over…" Olivia couldn't believe the words.

"It's over," Fare repeated the words.

"Thank you so much Agent Fare." Olivia finally felt a sense of relief for the first time in so long.

"Not a problem. We'll start the process of getting you guys back home immediately."

"Okay…thank you." Olivia told him.

Fare hung up the phone to go on and give his official report to the White House.

"Oh My God…" Olivia slumped to the Floor trying to compose herself.

"Olivia, are you alright?" Evelyn went over to her.

"They got him…" Olivia tried to calm down.

"Got who…"

"The Guardian…he's dead…Agent Fare got him…" Olivia shook her head and started crying.

"It's alright sweetheart," Evelyn comforted her. "It's finally over. He can't hurt us anymore."

"He's really gone," Olivia rejoiced tearfully. Her living nightmare was finally over. She was free and her family was safe again.

"Mommy?" Nathan went into the room hearing his mother.

"Come here baby," Olivia reached for her son and held him so close.

"Mommy, why you crying?"

"I'm crying because I'm happy," Olivia told him between sobs.

"Why are you crying when you're happy?" Nathan asked confused.

"It's weird I know but I got some good news," Olivia said caressing the hair out of his face. "We're going back home and we're going to Disney World like I promise you."

"Yay!" Nathan smiled as he hugged his mother tightly.

"We get to go on the teacups?"

"The teacups, the Dumbo ride, and everything else," Olivia told him.

"Then don't cry!" Nathan pouted at her.

"Okay, I'll stop crying," Olivia said kissing him on the cheeks. The weight had been lifted off her shoulders and she was no longer a Prisoner of fear to the Guardian or the Sons of Liberation.

Later that evening, at the White House, Fare gave his final report on the Sons of Liberation to the President.

"You have a done a GREAT service to your country Agent Fare." Fitz told him.

"Thank you sir, I'm glad we were able to finally bring them down."

"As am I," Fitz closed the folder leaning back in his chair relieved. Thankfully, he wouldn't have to make no grand standing speech about this and they could move on from the Sons of liberation.

"Also I already informed Olivia about it if that's alright?"

"How did she take it?" Fitz asked. Part of him had rather broke the Good news to Olivia but he was sure Fare handled it best he could.

"She was relieved. We've already started the process of moving her and the others out of the safe house so she can return home."

"That's good," Fitz was glad. Olivia could breathe easy again and could finally put this all behind her.

On the other side of Town, Olivia walked back into her house for what seemed like the first time in years. Her and Nathan's things were being placed down by the Agency's movers. She looked up at Edgar's portrait that was still hanging by the Fire place in the living room.

"We got them baby, it's finally over." Olivia told him. "I hope you can rest now and thank you again for giving me that beautiful baby boy. I also hope…you won't be angry with me if I try to move on..."

"Mommy, who you talking to?" Nathan walked over beside her.

"Just saying hi to your father?" She pointed at the Portrait.

"Hi daddy," Nathan waved at the picture.

"He says hello and that he loves you," Olivia picked him up. "That he wants you to grow up to be a big strong man and a good person."

"Okay daddy," Nathan said as Olivia held him close. Part of her debated on selling the House because without Edgar it felt so empty but she decided she would instead keep it up for her son to have later on.

"When we going to Disney?" Nathan asked her.

"Well I'm going to make all the reservations and we should be there maybe the day after tomorrow is that okay?"

"Yes," Nathan smiled.

Olivia got them settled for the evening when the phone went off.

"Hello?" Olivia answered.

"Hi, how are you?" Fitz answered on the other line.

"I'm doing good, how are you?"

"Pretty good, you guys settled back in?"

"We are, of course we won't be here too long. I'm going to take Nathan to Disney like I promised him."

"Disney sounds like fun."

"Yeah, we need a REAL vacation after everything."

"I can understand that." Olivia paused a moment hearing his voice.

"What's wrong?" Olivia asked.

"It's nothing," Fitz told her.

"You can tell me. Remember we're supposed to talk," Olivia said.

"I just…I'm afraid you'll leave and never come back. You got every right to want to move away and start over with Nathan."

"Did I say I was moving anywhere?"

"No you didn't."

"Did I say I wasn't coming back?"

"No you…"

"Then stop moping around. Nathan didn't fuss this much when I sent him away." Olivia told him. Fitz was a little surprised by her remark but that was quickly replaced by relief. The Old Olivia was coming back to him.

"Yes Ma'am. I'll stop mopping."

"Good. Now, how is Miles doing?"

"He's doing really good, actually. He kind of misses you too."

"Oh you Grant men," Olivia rolled her eyes even though he couldn't see but that both brought a chuckle out of them.

"Hey what can we say? You're a great person to be around."

"Well I'm honored. Thank you Mr. President." Olivia gave a bit of yawn.

"I'm going to go to bed. I haven't been in mine for a long time."

"Alright, Goodnight Olivia,"

"Goodnight Fitz," Olivia was about to hand up.

"Wait!" Fitz stopped her.

"Yes?"

"Can I at least call you? While you're on vacation that is?"

"We'll see." Olivia said. "Nathan pretty much banned me from my phone. So if you call and I'm with him, it's no guarantee I can answer right then."

"Understood," Fitz told her. Olivia made that clear Nathan was the number one man in her life.

"Well you have a nice evening and great trip if I don't get to speak to you again before you leave."

"Thank you, I will. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." The two hung up and Olivia went into her bedroom. She collapsed on her pillows feeling the relief of being back in her own bed.

"Mama?" She heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," Olivia looked over seeing Nathan in his PJs and his bear walking over to her.

"Yes?" Olivia looked at him.

"I want to stay with you." HE told her.

"You don't want to sleep in your own bed?" Olivia asked. Nathan shook his head.

"No," The toddler looked at her with pleading eyes.

"Alright come on but you can't play cause I'm going to sleep." Olivia pulled her son up into bed with her and held him in close. It didn't take long for mother and son to fall into a peaceful sleep.
