At the command center, several miles from where Carlos was holding Sam and Sage's son, Kellie was surprised to find Sage there.
"I'm in on this one," Sage said, "It's my son. Not mention who knows what kind of medical assistance Sam or her baby will need."
"It's me he wants," Kellie said, "Not you."
"Carlos is getting both of us," Sage said.
"I dont' know what Carlos will do," Kellie said, "He might shoot you on site for all we know."
"For my son, I'll take that risk," Sage said, "If I don't make it out, promise me you'll take care of him for me."
"Of course," Kellie said.
"Have you heard anything for Uncle Lo?" Sage asked.
"No," Kellie said, "And neither have his government contacts."
"You've been in contact with.." Sage started to ask.
"They contacted me," Kellie said, "In fact they're helping us with this."
"You couldn't stay away could you, Morgan," they heard Taggert's voice boom.
"Taggert," Jason said, his only acknowledgement.
"I'd really like to blame you for your wife being kidnapped," Taggert said, "But it's her crime family that kidnapped her."
"Do your job and help find her," Jason said.
Taggert's temper started to flare.
Kellie stepped between the two of them.
"I know you two have a history and I don't care," Kellie said, "The only thing that matters is rescuing Sam and the kids. So whatever opinions you two have about each other, keep them to yourselves, and do what we need to do to make sure we all get home in one piece."
"At that point you'll be on separate sides of the country, you don't have to deal with each other," Sage said.
Jason and Taggert glared at each other and then walked away.
The group went over the plan. Kellie would go in first. If she was screened they hoped the decoy mic and camera would keep the smaller ones from being discovered and the police and agents could gather intel for a rescue.
Sage would hang back and provide Kellie back up if necessary and medical treatment.
Jason and Taggert were the next line of defense, followed by the remaining agents and officers.
"Why can't I go in with Kellie?" Sage asked.
"We need the element of surprise on our side," Taggert said, "If you both go in, he has both of you. We need Kellie to assess Sam and the kids condition. See what type of medical treatment they might need. If it goes south fast, then you can go in."
"Taggert's right," Jason said, "We tip our hand too soon, we don't know what Carlos will do. We know he wants Kellie. So I don't think he'll shoot her. You we can't be so sure."
"If he'll trade me for Sam and your son. Then you need to be waiting for your son outside," Kellie said, "If you can't follow the plan which you've been know to do before, you can stay here. I've got no qualms about having Taggert handcuff you right now."
Sage looked at Jason.
"I'll let her handcuff you in a heartbeat," Jason said, "You distracted Milo while he was driving to catch the police's attention to keep from being sent away from your father for your safety. Even the people, including your uncle, who were waiting for you at the airport ended up joining jail. Kellie almost went after your father by herself."
Sage looked at Taggert.
"I don't know exactly what you did and I don't care," Taggert said, "But if Kellie or Jason says to hand cuff you, We can't afford distractions like that."
"Fine," Sage said, grudgingly, "I'll stick to the plan.
At a seemingly abandoned doctor's office, Kellie picked the lock to a door, opened the door and threw in a gas that knocked out the guard. She shoved him along with a second guard she took out into the restroom and locked them in.
In the second room, she found Sam tied to a hospital bed, in labor. Sage's son was attempting to make Sam feel better.
"Are you here to rescue us?" He asked.
Kellie nodded.
"Sam how long have you been in labor," Kellie asked.
"I don't know," Sam screamed as a contraction ripped through her, "there's no clock. But I think something's wrong."
"I'm sure I know what the answer is," Kellie said, "But is there any chance you can walk."
"Barely," Sam said.
"Okay," Kellie said, "I'm going to try to get our friend here out and figure out our next move. What's your name?" Kellie kneeled down to the little boy's level.
"Mateo," he said, "How do I know I can trust you?"
"You don't," Kellie said, "I wish I could say something to make you fell good about this. But I'm not in the habit of kidnapped. I rescued Sam, the girl in the hospital bed. I rescued her son Danny once and my cousin Molly."
Kellie pulled out her phone and showed Mateo photos of Sage, Taggert, and Jason.
"You see these three people, they're with me," Kellie said, "You and I are going to go down a hallway and you will go out a door. You run and find one of these three people."
"Okay," Mateo said, "Is she going to be okay? Will you be able to rescue her?"
"I'm going to do everything I can to rescue her," Kellie said, "Me and my friends."
Kellie showed Mateo a photo of Alcazar. "Have you seen this guy?"
"No," Mateo answered, "But I think someone else is in the next room."
"Okay, I'll check on that," Kellie said, ushering Mateo out the door, "Sam I'm coming back."
She led Mateo back down the hallway and sent him out the door. She found Sage at the back door.
"So much for sticking to the plan," Kellie said.
"Is he?" Sage said, noticing Mateo.
"I assume so," Kellie said, "But right now, Mateo, I need to run to that red building across the street. The two men I showed are there. Tell the one that doesn't stay with you to come here."
"Wait," Sage said as Mateo ran off.
"He's safe and there will be time for that later," Kellie said, "Sam's in labor and I don't think it's good. Is your gun loaded?"
Sage nodded.
"Hall should be clear. I locked the guards in the rest room," Kellie said, "2nd door on the right is Sam. I'll watch the hall and when Jason or Taggert's here. We'll do what we can to get her moved or secure the building if we can't."
Kellie watched Sage disappear into the room.
Jason was ten feet away from the door when Carlos, still juiced up, grab Kellie and injected her with a needle. Carlos slammed and locked the door,.
