Chapter 53: The Beast Inside

Amy was abruptly woken up by Shade, nudging her constantly. "Amy! Amy wake up!" She sat up quickly. "What? What's going on..." "The doctor is coming!" She was awake fully now. "Ok, We don't have much time, so get into position behind the couch..."

The doctor walked down the hall with a smile. up until now, he had only one level of how much of the toxin would be released from Shade's straight jacket. Now he had up to four levels of how much would be released. He had only two guards with him. "Shade shouldn't try anything too harsh or stupid." the doctor thought. They turned into a short stone hallway that led to a single titanium door. Above it, was a sign that lit up and read, "MAXIMUM SECURITY DETENTION" The doctor put on a wicked grin as he opened up the door. On the other side of the room Shade was sitting against the wall, with his head down. "Good morning Shade." The doctor said happily. Shade did not respond. The doctor cleared his throat. "Let's try this again... GOOD MORNING YOU LITTLE FUCKWIT!" Shade still didn't respond. The doctor walked over to Shade. "Be careful boss!" one of the guards said. "Yeah, he's dangerous." the other one said. "Oh shut up you wusses, he's all tied up over there." The doctor slowly walked over towards Shade. "Wake up, or I'll turn on the..." Once he got close enough, Shade rammed his shoulder into the doctor's stomach, knocking him over, then he kicked the device out of the doctors hand, and over to the other side of the room. The two guards started to rush at Shade, but he jumped to the side, avoiding them. Two more guards ran in and one tackled Shade. He managed to throw the guard off, but then two more guards tackled him. the rest of the guards jumped on, dog piling Shade down on the floor. He couldn't break free, but luckily it was more than enough of a distraction for Amy to slip out through the door unnoticed. She wanted to cry knowing that Shade would get hurt as punishment for this, but she had to stay strong. She ran down the hallway and made a left turn. Shade was on his knees, the guards holding him in place. "Well Shade, I think you still need to be taught some manners." The doctor said sinisterly, raising up the device. Shade grit his teeth and braced himself for the pain. there was a click, but no pain. The doctor was confused, and angry, repeatedly clicking on the device. "Wha..." He turned around and saw the batteries for the device on the floor. "Oh, you must of knocked these out." He said picking them up and putting them into the device. "Now then..."

Amy heard Shade yelling in pain from down the hall. She held back tears. "Just keep going... Just keep going..." she repeated to herself over and over again. She forced herself to keep going until she hit a turn in the hall. She followed it leading to a dead end with eight doors on both sides. She frowned. "How am I supposed to find the one with the..." The fourth door on the right had the word "office" carved into it. "Oh, well that's convenient." She said to herself going inside. It was a large office with red shag carpet and gray stone walls. there was a ten foot high double steel locker against the wall on the left side of the mahogany desk. a large black leather chair was behind it, and two smaller red chairs were in front. Amy slowly and cautiously walked forward to the desk. there were stacks of papers and some bullets laying on the desk. and sticking out from underneath the paper was something rectangular and silver. "The key card!" She yelled, as she moved the papers to grab the key card, sliding it into her pocket. "Well that was easier then I thought it would be. Now to get back to Shade and..." Amy stopped and listened. Footsteps were getting louder and louder. She panicked. "No, no, no! What do I do?" She looked around frantically, staring at the locker. Without hesitation, she swung open the locker door and stepped inside, closing it behind her. She heard mumbling. Then the door opened. "Damn that incessant brat!" It was the doctor. There were holes in the locker so Amy could breathe, but they were too high up for her to look out of. "I'm going to kill the..." The doctor took a deep breath. "No... Jolt said to keep him alive. For now..." Amy was lightly but nervously breathing. "What the...?" The doctor sounded surprised. "Where's my key card?" Amy's heart skipped a beat, as her breathing got slightly heavier. "Did Matt come into my office again?" There were more footsteps. "I'm going break his arm if he's taking my shit again." The doctor said before leaving out the door. Amy let out a sigh, before stepping out of the locker. She waited two minutes before leaving, fearing that the doctor may have been right outside the door. Now it was only a matter of getting past the guards and back to Shade. She stepped outside the office, and something grabbed her arm. She shrieked. The doctor was holding her back. "I heard you breathing heavily in the locker dear, now i need to find a comfy cell for you to rot in." He said grinning. Amy swung her arm back at him, but he caught it with his free hand, now forcing her arms behind her back. "You're a feisty one aren't you?" Amy lowered her head, then flicked it back, breaking the doctor's nose with a headbutt. "OW! You little shit!" Amy sprinted down the hall, shaking. "SHADE!" She yelled out to let him know she was coming. She ran in between two guards, who looked confused as she ran by. "Don't just stand there you fools!" The doctor yelled running down the hall after her. "CATCH HER!" The two guards ran with the doctor repulsed by his nose which was leaking more and more blood. She ran into hallway after hallway, with more guards joining the chase from other halls. She must have counted five plus the doctor but couldn't be sure, she had to get to Shade. Finally she came upon the door which was Shade's. She ran inside, holding the key card, as three guards followed in. Shade was up against the wall on the other side of the room with a large bloody gash in his head. his eyes were also closed. Amy ran up to him and slid the key card along the lock. Shade's eyes opened immediately, as he lunged over Amy and in front of the front guard. He grabbed the front guard's neck, and tore it out with his bare hands...
