Use blizzard

The drill Pokémon opened its mouth and blew a bone chilling breeze with sleet and snow over at the oddly coloured black Haxorus across the field.

Iron tail

The dragon type marched through the chilling winds with its arms crossed in front of itself as it approached Nidoking. Once it came within a few ft. it turned counter clockwise on its left leg and slammed the drill Pokémon with a powerful tail swipe. Nidoking staggered back after being slammed in the side of the face.

Earth power

Nidoking shoved its arm to the ground and created tremors that threw the dragon off balance.

Now megahorn

Nidoking ran up at the staggered dragon type head first with a white glowing horn.

Dual chop

Nitro remained calm in the battle despite circumstances. One of Haxorus's glowing claws connected with Nidoking's horn in a slightly upward motion, throwing its head back and immediately off balance. This was followed by another swift attack with its left hand that knocked Nidoking back, sliding across the ice. Giovanni was surprised and frustrated that he was able to counter so quickly.

Use sludge wave

Nidoking got back up and released a continues glob of purple goop at Haxorus.

Duck

Haxorus got down on all fours as the purple stream flew overhead and landed harmlessly on the battle field behind it.

Iron tail

The dragon Pokémon pushed off with its legs and spun around on its hands, with a surprising amount of agility and physical prowess, to smack its tail to the side of Nidoking's body before once again landing on its feet. Many of the audience members gasped at such a move. The ground Pokémon flew back in the air and crashed through an ice pillar before landing back first on the icy field.

"Nidoking is unable to battle! Haxorus wins, and victory goes to Nitro!" The crowd cheered in appreciation for the shiny Haxorus and its trainer as he waved back to the stands with a joyous laugh in his voice and a smile on his face.

The black dragon walked back across the ice field and simply nodded in respect to its trainer. Nitro walked up and rubbed his Pokémon on the head in appreciation and uttered some unintelligible words before returning it back to its ball and walking out of the field.

A frustrated Giovanni returned the ground Pokémon to its ball. He gripped it in his hand and growled in rage. "This is not over."

"That battle was crazy." Tracey commented as the whole group was clapping for the victor.

"Yeah, and pretty one sided too." Max said happily. He didn't care. It was still awesome.

"How about that Haxorus though? You can tell it was raised really well. I've never seen a Haxorus move like that." Iris admired.

"And that black colouring is really rare too." Dawn added.

"A shiny Dragonite and Haxorus, this guy is like a dragon trainer's dream." Tracey joked.

"Right? There're both rare and really strong too." Misty agreed.

"So who's next?" May asked as they turned their attention to the big screen.

"No one we know." Said Misty.

"Gym leader Bryson vs. Sinnoh elite four member Lucian." Brock answered, being in the know.

"An elite four member? Bryson is toast." Gary laughed.

"We'll just have to see how well he plays his strategy." Brock said.

"Tracey, didn't he beat you?" Misty asked him.

"Yeah. In the first round." He replied with no ounce of shame.

"I've battled with Lucian before. I know he's going to be tough." Dawn said tensely.

They would have asked how Dawn got to battle an elite four member, but they all knew that traveling with Ash can get pretty wild so it wasn't so unbelievable to hear. In the middle of that thought the field below sunk down into the ground as a rock covered battlefield rose up to replace the previous ice one. From opposite sides Bryson and Lucian approached the rocky field ready to do battle.

"Excuse me. Your Pokémon are ready." Nurse Joy poked a tournament finalist on the shoulder.

Tyler jolted upright when the nurse got his attention. He was sitting on a couch in the Pokémon centre lobby and had kinda zoned out after the battle between Nitro and Giovanni had concluded. He looked to his left and saw the nurse with an apologetic look on her face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." She said sincerely.

"No, no. It's okay." He shook his head as he got to his feet. "How are my Pokémon doing?"

"Just fine. They're fully recovered and waiting for you." She motioned to the front desk where a tray of six pokéballs were sitting.

"Thanks nurse Joy." He said respectfully and walked over to collect his team.

"They're all perfectly healthy. Nothing to worry about." She assured.

"That's good." Tyler said aloud. He finished securing his pokéballs around his waist and after a final nod to nurse Joy, turned and walked out of the Pokémon centre.

*Okay. As fun as that was, round four is still far from over. Ash is battling next and he could use all the support he can get.* He thought as he made his way back to the stadium. The foot traffic around town was not nearly as bad as it was that morning so he was re-entering the building within minutes. He could hear the cheers and reactions of the spectators long before he set foot within the walls. He walked through the halls reserved for tournament participating trainers only, in search of his friends and his brother. He walked to the end of the hall and emerged at the side of the field where all the other participants were watching the other battles. He looked around for the others when Ash's friend Morrison saw him and waved over at him.

"Tyler! 'Bout time you showed up." Morrison called out to him. Jamie, who was standing with him, also turned and saw Tyler approach.

"Sorry, getting my team healed." Tyler explained as he walked up to them. "Where's Ash?" He asked not seeing him.

"You just missed him. He's up next, against Alder." Morrison said. Tyler could see the stadium monitor on standby for the battle between ash and Alder.

"Is he ready?" He asked, wondering how prepared Ash was for this battle.

"I doubt it." Jamie said. How could anybody be?

"Let's go find out." Morrison ushered the two brothers with him and went back to the front of the barrier, where Paul and his brother were standing.

"Oh there you guys are." Reggie noticed as they approached. "We thought you might miss it."

"No way! We'd never miss out on cheering Ash all the way to victory!" Morrison said with spirit.

"Tch." Jamie laughed to himself. He thought there was no way Ash could win this.

"He's up against a champion. That's a tall task to overcome." Reggie said.

"Yeah. I hope he's ready for this." Tyler said with a stretch and a grimace.

"We'll just see how good he really is." Paul said overlooking the field.

"We'll see." Jamie agreed.

"Do any of you know what kind of Pokémon Alder likes to battles with?" Morrison asked them.

"Just that he has Pokémon from the Unova region." Jamie said with a wave of the hand and a shake of the head.

"Well yeah he's the Unova champion." Tyler stated obviously.

"But remember, Ash conquered the battle frontier. I'm interested to see how he fights against the odds." Reggie said.

"Yeah but if Ash loses, then one of us might have to face Alder next." Jamie looked on.

"You let me worry about that after I beat you." Paul responded offhandedly.

"Hmph." Jamie sent him a sarcastic 'try me' smirk. Before they could move on with that the big screen came alive and the crowd roared as the referee took his place.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our final bout of the day is about to kickoff. Our first competitor is a young, ambitious trainer from the Kanto region's Pallet town. The courageous youngster with lots of heart, Ash!"

Ash ran out to his place, arms flailing in excitement and anticipation with a Pikachu on his shoulder with an even level of excitement. He quickly reached his corner and waited for his champion opponent.

"And his opponent, a man who needs no introduction. A man with distinction and power. He is our league champion right here in Unova…" The mention of their own regional champion had the home crowd going wild. Plenty of positive cheers and encouragements were heard for their Unova champion.

The Unova champion, Alder!" It wasn't hard to tell how they felt about Alder. The introduction of the Unova league champion made the fans absolutely nuts. The middle aged man with the fire like haircut marched out with his arms in the air and a gleam on his face.

Barrett narrowed his eyes as the reactions were blowing up all around him. Whatever they all thought of their champion, he didn't see it.

The field before them opened up to allow the final battlefield of the day rise to the surface. From the depths of the stadium rose a simple field covered in grassy terrain.

The two trainers stood on opposite sides of the field and locked eyes with each other. And with a brief nod to one another they were ready.

"This will be a six on six full battle between Ash of Pallet town and Unova league champion Alder! Substitutions are allowed and there is no time limit! The battle will be over when all six Pokémon on one side are unable to continue! Battle begin!"

"Go Accelgor!"

Alder's first Pokémon had a red head and a purple like cloak covering its body.

"Staraptor, I choose you!" Ash threw out a pokéball containing his powerful flying Pokémon from the Sinnoh region. It took to the sky unleashing a shrill cry as it readied for battle.

Staraptor aerial ace

Staraptor flew first, looking to get a super effective hit early.

Use me first

Accelgor quickly got on the move with an exact impersonation of an aerial ace. It slammed into the flying type with more power and forced it back.

"What was that?!" Ash asked bewildered.

"Me first. A move that allows the user to copy the opponent's move with more power." Gary took notice.

"Never heard of that one before." Said Dawn.

"It's a good way to throw the opponent off, by hitting them with their own move." Brock explained.

"That's probably why he started with Accelgor." Gary agreed.

Use bug buzz

Accelgor released a shrill cry as concentrated sound waves rattled the predator Pokémon.

Use quick attack

Staraptor tried to escape the wrath of the bug type move and flew right into the bug Pokémon.

Use focus blast

Accelgor tried to hit Staraptor as it was retreating after its attack, but the bird managed to avoid it.

Close combat

The predator moved in to take Accelgor on in close quarter battling.

Dodge it

Accelgor showed some very impressive speed and weaved around all of Staraptor's strikes.

Focus blast again

Accelgor repeated the same move and shot the bird with a red power orb at close range. The normal/flying type flew back and landed hard in the grass.

Now use energy ball

Accelgor formed a green orb between its hands and threw it at the prone bird.

Get up Staraptor. Use aerial ace

The Sinnoh flyer struggled to get to its feet. Just as the incoming grass attack made its arrival, the flying Pokémon leapt straight into the air and twisted around to fly beak first into the susceptible bug type.

Close combat

Me first

Staraptor continued the assault with a physical barrage of fighting attacks, but Accelgor came right back with its own series of punches and kicks that had Staraptor weary as well.

Now use energy ball

Accelgor launched another green ball of grass energy that made contact; forcing Staraptor back, creating some distance.

And now focus blast

Accelgor repeated the same motion but this time formed a red, fighting type move to be thrown at Staraptor.

Staraptor use brave bird

Ash's resilient flying type got right back in the game by swerving around the focus blast, tucking its wings in and shrouding itself in a fire like cloak of energy. It then outstretched its wings and took on a powerful blue aura of energy. It zoomed straight towards Accelgor and took it right off its feet as the shell out Pokémon flew back in a heap after the super effective flying assault.

"Accelgor is unable to battle. Staraptor is the winner!" The crowd cheered loudly in excitement and shock. They couldn't believe that the champion's Pokémon went down first.

"Yes! Ash got the first win!" May cheered in joy.

"Yeah. Way to go Ash." Max said to himself.

"Nice job, but there's still a long way to go. Ash needs to make sure he doesn't get too confident." Brock says.

The Unova champion returned his bug Pokémon back to its ball. On the other side Staraptor was huffing in fatigue over the quick paced match it just endured. Ash copied Alder's motion and recalled the bird.

"Staraptor return!" A red beam shot from the button of the ball and sucked his winded Pokémon back inside.

"Smart move. He needs to keep his cool and not keep his Pokémon in there for too long." Brock commended.

"Staraptor can get some rest and he can use it again later." Said Reggie.

"If Ash has any chance of winning he can't afford to make any mistakes." Paul stated.

"Sceptile, I choose you!" The second Pokémon Ash picked was a 5'7" wood gecko with yellow eyes and sharp leaves growing out of its forearms. The grass starter appeared on the field with a confident call.

"Go Escavalier!" Alder called out a Pokémon covered in steel armor like a knight, with two lances for hands.

"Ewwwwww! Not another bug Pokémon." Misty shuttered with chills running up her spine.

"What's so bad about bug types?" Iris questioned the Cerulean gym leader.

"It's complicated." May sheepishly sighed.

"A bug and steel type. That's a bad matchup for Sceptile." Reggie noted.

"Yeah, but Ash's Sceptile is really strong! No worries!" Morrison said.

Sceptile leaf blade

The grass Pokémon dashed forth with great speed as the leaves on its arms grew larger and took on a green glow.

Escavalier x-scissor

Escavalier flew forward and crossed its lances together to make an x shaped slash that slammed into Sceptile.

Quick attack

Despite the super effective hit Sceptile came right back with a fast body tackle into the cavalry Pokémon.

Now iron head

Starting from the tip of Escavalier's head it became encased in a silver aura of energy and launched itself head first at the wood gecko.

Dodge it. And use leaf storm

The nimble forest Pokémon quickly moved out of the way as Escavalier flew by and raised its tail as a tornado of leaves flew from its tail and blew at the cavalry Pokémon like a hurricane. Escavalier crossed its lances in front of its body in an attempt to protect itself.

Sceptile use leaf blade

The grass type ran up and slashed across its body with the leaves on its arms.

Use iron head

Escavalier fought back by charging into Sceptile with a silver glowing head; forcing it back.

Use leaf storm again

Sceptile shot a barrage of leaves and covered the steel type with razor sharp leaves.

Now giga impact

Escavalier became enshrouded in a very powerful purple and white swirl of energy. It pushed through the grass storm and honed in on the starter from Hoenn.

Quick attack

Sceptile tried to use its speed to evade to powerful attack. It zipped across the field to be evasive, but Alder's metal bug followed close with impressive speed of its own and eventually caught the grass Pokémon with the attack, causing massive damage.

"No way! It's too fast!" Dawn cried out.

"That Escavalier has some impressive speed too." Gary observed.

Sceptile struggled to push itself back up from the grass. The attack took a lot out of it but it pushed itself hard to continue. On the other side Escavalier breathed hard as it waited to recover after using giga impact.

Sceptile use solar beam

The forest Pokémon finally stood upright and the yellow balls along its back began to absorb the rays of sunlight from above. Escavalier stayed still as it wasn't yet ready to move again.

"Normally solar beam would be risky, seeing as how it takes a while to charge, but Ash picked his spot pretty well here." Tyler said.

"Right. Escavalier has to recharge after using giga impact. So Sceptile isn't all that vulnerable." Reggie agreed. Paul stood beside him a silently studied the battling styles of both trainers.

After absorbing enough sunlight the grass type opened its mouth and out of it shot a bright white beam in the direction of the armored bug.

Use aerial ace

Escavalier charged into the attack lance first with some air swirling around its body. It cut through the solar beam and charged straight through to its source: Sceptile. Escavalier flew into the grass starter, lance first, and blew past the forest dweller. Sceptile stood there for a brief moment in shock that it had powered through the attack. Then in exhaustion as it collapsed to the ground.

"Sceptile is unable to battle! Escavalier is the winner!"

"Whoa I can't believe Sceptile is out." Max said shocked. He thought Sceptile was one of Ash's best Pokémon.

"He's battling a champion. He knows it couldn't have been this easy." Gary said.

"Alder is powerful. Beating him is going to be difficult." Said Iris.

"It's still early. There's a long way to go yet." Reminded Brock.

"Go Infernape!" Ash's Pokémon was a much more effective fire type.

Escavalier aerial ace

Escavalier put its lances forth and flew straight at the fire Pokémon.

Dodge and use mach punch

Infernape used its speed to avoid to the left and struck Escavalier with a fist to its right side, avoiding the lances.

Now flamethrower

The flame Pokémon spit fire with the hopes to taking it down quickly.

Use x-scissor

Escavalier crossed its lances in front of its body as the fire hit. It then lashed out forward, striking through the attack and deflected the flames.

Now use iron head

The steel types head took a metallic glow and lunched its body toward the opponent. Infernape tried to block but was pushed back by Escavalier's power. Thinking Infernape might've flinched he went in for the kill.

Giga impact

The cavalier Pokémon gathered its strength and charged straight at Infernape.

Infernape dig

The fire monkey jumped into the air and plowed right into the ground, leaving only a hole in its wake. Unable to stop its momentum Escavalier smashed into the top of the hole and staggered back. Both Pokémon and trainer tried to gather their thoughts as they waited for the emergence of their opponent.

Use flare blitz

Infernape came right back up through the hole with a fiery glow as it smacked into the stunned bug and steel type and forced it back, causing massive damage. Infernape slightly lost its stance for a moment as the recoil effect made its self known, but at least it remained standing.

"Escavalier is unable to battle! Infernape wins!"

Infernape had quickly taken out Escavalier as the scoreboard showed Alder losing Accelgor and Escavalier, while Ash had used Staraptor, Sceptile and Infernape, who had only lost Sceptile.

Alder returned his second Pokémon. He put it back on his belt and let out a hardy chuckle. "Hahaha. You've certainly grown stronger Ashton. This has been even more fun than I thought it would be. Bouffalant come on out!" The champion called out his partner to battle. The afro bull appeared on the grass field with its head raised high.

While slightly perturbed about the 'Ashton' comment, he knew it was serious battling against Bouffalant. 'Bouffalant had a type disadvantage against Infernape. 'Time to carry on the momentum.' Ash thought to himself.

Use flamethrower

The flame Pokémon started with an attack from a distance.

Use head charge

Bouffalant charged straight in head first and ran through the fire and slammed into Infernape.

"He charged straight in?!" Gary sat up surprised.

"That's a risky strategy. No matter how strong you are, you're bound to get worn out battling like that." Brock said.

"Not to mention the recoil it takes for using head charge." Added Iris.

Now Bouffalant earthquake

The buffalo Pokémon raised one of its fore legs and powerfully slammed it down onto the field sending tremors though the ground, causing Infernape to wobble around on its feet.

Megahorn

Bouffalant's head glowed white and it charged forth at Infernape.

Dodge and use mach punch

Infernape used its speed to stay one step ahead of the normal type, sliding out of its path and striking with a swift punch the side of the head.

Now Infernape use flare blitz

The fire type jumped back for a running start. Its body took and a fiery red glow and quickly ran for Bouffalant.

Use head charge

Bouffalant retaliated with an equally powerful attack. The two recoil attacks collided center field with quite a bang and bits of grass flying through their air. Both attackers also suffered from the recoil of their moves. By the time the dust had settled Infernape had succumbed to the damage.

"Infernape is unable to battle! Bouffalant is the winner!"

Ash returned his hard working Pokémon back to its ball. "Infernape, you did great. Take a nice rest." He said as he stood up to look at the scoreboard. Both sides had four Pokémon left. Things were going good, but he needed to stay focused. He still had a Pokémon with an advantage over Bouffalant. Ash needed to be prepared for the champion's partner.

"Go Boldore!" Ash sent out the ore Pokémon who stood out on the field with three legs.
