Is Love Enough (ILE) – A Kish Drama

Chapter 51: The Past is Never Far

Oliver and Kyle enter Oliver's apartment about seven hours after the reunion in old Crimson.

Oliver lays his keys on the shelf next to the door as usual. "I'm sorry that took so long."

"I told ya' I was fine, Ollie. It was a complete waste of time. I'm a doctor ya' know."

"I know and doctor's don't make the best patients, including you my stubborn man."

Kyle smiles, as it still takes his breath away, when Oliver says that he is his man.

"I love that smile," says Oliver. "I missed you so much. I felt so helpless."

Kyle walks forward and grabs Oliver's hands. "I knew ya' would find me. It's over now. I just want to shower, sleep, have some hot sex with my boyfriend and get life back to normal."

Oliver turns multiple shades of red from Kyle's words.

Kyle leans forward and kisses Oliver gently on the lips. "I love ya'. Don't ever change. I'm goin' to hit the shower."

Oliver wants to press Kyle more about the events of the past few days, but doesn't think now is the right time. He wonders when he should approach the subject. "I'll make you something to eat. You should eat before you sleep. I'm sure your body needs some more nourishment even though the hospital ensured you had plenty of food."

"Thanks." Kyle exits to the back of the apartment.

Oliver heads to the kitchen to prepare some food. As he opens the cabinet there is a knock at the door. Oliver removes a soup can from the cabinet and lays it on the kitchen island. He walks over to the door and opens it. "Roxy. Hey!'

Roxy barges into the apartment. "Hey tuna. Where's my boy?"

Oliver shuts the door and turns to face Roxy. "He's taking a shower. I'm making him something eat." Oliver heads back to the kitchen. He looks over as Roxy heads towards the bedroom. "Where are you going?"

"I need to see him with my own eyes, tuna."

"He'll be out in a bit." Roxy is out of sight before Oliver even blinks again.

"I can't wait." Roxy soon enters the bedroom and hears the shower water running. The door to the bathroom is open and she enters the small space. "Kyle. Is that you?" She can see a silhouette of a naked Kyle through the clear shower glass

Kyle is surprised that he is not alone. "Rox? What are you doin' in here? I'm not really presentable."

"Get over it, Kyle. I've seen it all before. I need to make sure you're okay with my own eyes. Hurry it up so I can get my inspection started."

"Go wait with Oliver. I'll be out in a few."

"No deal, pal. I'm not leavin' this room until I get an eyeful."

"Please, Roxy. I'm a little embarrassed here."

Roxy waves him off with her hand as if he is standing right in front of her. "You'll get over it. Trust me. I'll sit here and enjoy the steam and view in the meantime." She leans against the bathroom counter.

Kyle smiles and continues to shower.

Roxy sits nervously waiting for Kyle to exit the shower. She had wanted to visit Kyle in the hospital, but felt she needed to be with Shane and Rex. She told Rex she just needed to make sure Kyle was okay and she would return to the hospital as soon as possible to be by Shane's side. Rex seemed to understand when she explained, but she still feels guilty about leaving. She left Max at the hospital in Crimson for support in the meantime.

Kyle turns the water off, slowly opens the door and reaches for the towel, but its not where he left it. "Roxy! Where's my towel?"

Roxy didn't realize she was hugging the towel. "Sorry. Here." She hands the towel to Kyle. "Hurry up. You're drivin' me crazy with this slowness."

Kyle dries himself inside the shower and wraps the towel around his waist. He steps out.

Roxy lunges forward and brings Kyle into a hug. "I was so worried about you. Ya' okay? Talk to me."

Kyle returns the hug. "I'm okay, Rox. I promise. How is Shane?"

Roxy continues to hold Kyle. "Shane is good. We think he'll get to go home later today. The docs wanted to keep him a little longer for observation as a pretense or somthin'." Roxy leans back, but keeps her arms locked around her boy. "Let me look at ya'." Roxy surveys Kyle with her eyes. Her eyes then look directly into his. "I love ya', pal. I was so worried about all of you."

Kyle smiles. "I love ya' too. I'm simply glad to be home and that everyone is okay."

Roxy continues to stare at Kyle without releasing him.

"Rox. I need to get some clothes on."

Roxy comes out of her daze. "Sorry. Sure." She releases her grip on Kyle.

The two exit the bathroom and head into the bedroom. Roxy sits on the bed. Kyle grabs his boxers and t-shirt that he laid on bedroom dresser earlier and heads back into the bathroom.

"Where are ya' goin'?"

"I'll be right back, Rox. I promise." Kyle slips the towel off, slides on the boxers, puts on some deodorant and slips the t-shirt over his head. He returns to the bedroom. He smiles seeing Roxy sitting on the bed and sits down beside her. "I appreciate ya' comin' by. It means a lot."

"You're stuck with me kiddo."

"I love that."

"So be truthful. Are ya' really okay?"

Kyle looks away. "I'll be fine. I'm still shocked by everything that's all."

"There's somethin' more than that goin' on. I can tell. Ya' can't hide stuff from me. Ya' should know that by now."

Kyle turns back to Roxy and smiles. "So true, Roxy. I never can hide things from ya'."

"So spill."

"Thanks, but I'm not really ready to talk about it yet."

"Come on, Kyle. Its good to talk."

"I know. In time I will. I think I'm still processing everything. How's Zach?"

"Who cares? You guys wouldn't have been in this mess if it wasn't for him."

"Ya' don't understand. Zach is a victim here too."

"I don't care what happens to him. He put my family in jeopardy."

"I get that, but he's not a bad guy."

"Let's not do this. I'm not goin' to argue with ya'. I'm so happy you're okay. If anything serious had happened to you or Shane…"

Kyle cuts her off. "We're fine. It's okay. Shane's a trooper. You have a great grandson, Rox."

"Shane is the best. He takes after me. He's brilliant and strong."

"I can see that."

Oliver enters the room. "Am I interrupting anything? I have some food."

Roxy stands. "You're fine, tuna. I need to get back to the hospital and check in on Shane."

Kyle stands also. "Thanks for stoppin' by, Rox. I appreciate it."

The two hug.

Roxy pulls away and heads to the door. She looks at Oliver as she passes him. "Ya' take care of him."

Oliver nods his head. "I will."

Roxy then looks back at Kyle. "Ya' take it easy for a while. Call me when you're ready to talk."

"Will do, Rox. Tell Shane and Rex that I'm thinking about them."

Roxy nods yes and smiles. She exits the room.

Oliver lays the food tray on the nearby desk. "Ready to talk about what?"

"She wanted to talk about the last few days. I want to put that behind me."

Oliver is frustrated by the comment, but again doesn't want to push Kyle into talking. "Something to eat?"

Kyle walks over to Oliver who stands with his back to the desk now. "Thanks, but I'm not feeling hungry really."

"Kyle. You need to eat."

"I will later."

"Okay. Sorry if I'm not doing this right."

"Stop, silly. You're here. That's all that matters." Kyle grabs Oliver by the shirt and pulls him over. "Hold me." He is relieved when Oliver's arms surround him.

"You tired?" Oliver thinks Kyle should get some sleep.

Kyle looks up at him and smiles.

Oliver knows that smile. "I guess not."

"Take me to bed, Ollie. I need you."

The two stare into each other's eyes.

Suddenly Oliver shifts and picks Kyle up off the floor. He begins to walk toward the bed as he carries Kyle.

"What are ya' doing?"

Oliver smiles. "Taking my man to bed." He gently lays Kyle on the bed. He then kicks off his shoes and climbs onto the bed also. He towers over Kyle who looks up at him. No words are spoken as Oliver leans down and begins to kiss Kyle.

Kyle wraps his arms around Oliver holding him tight. He can't get Oliver close enough. Kyle pulls Oliver on top of him as the kissing continues. Kyle then tugs at Oliver's shirt. Oliver sits up and pulls the t-shirt off. Kyle sits up and Oliver also pulls Kyle's shirt off. Oliver leans down and begins kissing Kyle again. They fall back together again on the bed now chest to chest without the interference of fabric. Kyle becomes all kinds of excited feeling Oliver's hairy chest against his own and moans to let Oliver know. Oliver replies with his own moan and the kisses become longer, deeper and harder. The two can barely catch their respective breaths as the intensity of the moment increases.

There is a knock at the door.

Oliver stops kissing Kyle upon hearing the knock and lifts his head up.

"Ignore it," pleads Kyle. He grabs Oliver's neck and pushes Oliver's mouth back to his. Kyle can't get enough of Oliver.

There is another knock, but more intense.

Oliver sighs. "Sorry. It may be something important." Oliver tries to stand, but Kyle makes it hard.

"Please Oliver. Let it go. They'll come back. I need ya'."

"I'll get rid of them I promise." Oliver forces himself away from Kyle's grasp. He grabs his t-shirt and slips it back on.

Kyle forms a pout face. "I'm not enough, a knock at the door takes priority."

Oliver smiles at his boyfriend. "I'm going to ignore that. I'll be right back." Oliver exits the bedroom.

Kyle grabs the pillow next to him, lightly places it over his face and muffles a scream into the pillow. He then tosses the pillow aside.

Oliver reaches the door and begins to open it just as another knock occurs.

Stacy stands outside with the boys in a stroller. She barges in. "I'm so glad you're here. We need you, Fish. We're homeless."

Oliver looks shocked. "What?" He closes the door and turns to face Stacy.

"Yep. My dear friend Kimmie threw us out."

Oliver bends down to see the boys who somehow manage to be sleeping. He smiles knowing they are okay.

"I'm sorry, Stacy. You guys are welcome to stay here. You may have to sleep on the sofa, unless you want to share a bed with Cris."

"Cristian and I don't seem to be on talking terms these days. I hate Kimmie for this."

"You don't mean that."

"The hell I don't." Stacy's voice raises several notches.

Oliver grabs her and leads her into the kitchen. "Be quiet. They're sleeping."

Stacy shakes her head and sits on the breakfast bar chair. "I'm sorry. I'm so mad. She accidently touches a baby throw up towel and you would think the world was coming to an end."

Oliver laughs. "Stacy. You were the same way at first."

Stacy glares at him. "This isn't about me. It's about her. She can't accept the fact that I'm a mom now. She hates it. It's the complete opposite of what we thought our lives would be like. She barely even acknowledges Ben and Dax. It's like they're invisible to her. I thought she was my friend. She said we couldn't stay with her anymore, that the mess and the noise was impacting her male suitors and that I needed to clean the place before I left. I can't believe she has that much nerve, sex over these two precious baby boys."

Oliver laughs again. He can't help it.

Stacy returns another glare.

Oliver tires to stop laughing. "Sorry. Don't you find it a bit ironic? I mean come on, Stacy. Before those little guys were born you would have been the same way. Give your friend a break."

"I can't believe I was or would ever be like that. Further, I can't believe you're trying to defend her actions."

"Wow. Now you're simply lying to yourself. Oh and I'm not defending her. I guess I can understand it. That's all."

Kyle approaches from the back. "What's goin' on?"

Oliver looks towards Kyle. "You should be in bed."

"I'm not in the mood to sleep, Ollie. Ya' know what was going on when there was the knock at the door," replies Kyle as he approaches Stacy and Oliver.

Oliver turns several sheds of red.

Stacy puts two and two together and smiles. "Sorry, Kyle. But Oliver's family needs him. Your needs will have to wait."

Kyle smirks. "Hello to you too, witch."

"Don't call me that, doctor Jekyll."

Oliver intervenes. "Come on guys. Be nice. We all have to learn to play together."

"Play with the likes of him. No thank you. I'd rather choke."

Kyle looks directly at Stacy. "We can arrange that. Our lives would be easier."

"Ha ha," replies Stacy. "Is he going to be here all the time, Oliver? He makes my stomach turn."

"This is his home too, Stacy. He is part of our family."

Stacy stands and waves her hand. "I know. I know. I need to get the boys settled in the nursery and get some rest myself. I hope we're not going to be in the way."

"It'll be fine, Stacy. Do you need any help?" Oliver stands also.

"You could grab our bags from the lobby. I couldn't lug them all up here. We're good otherwise. Thanks, Oliver." Stacy grabs the stroller handles and heads back to the nursery with the boys.

"So I guess our play time is on hold?" Kyle is disappointed.

"Sorry. I didn't know this would happen. Kimmie kicked them out. They need a place to stay."

"She's staying to?"

"She is there mom and has nowhere to go."

"I'm going to sleep." Kyle starts to head back to the bedroom.

"I'll be in after I grab the bags."

"No worries. We're not having sex while that woman is under this roof."

"What?"

Kyle turns. "Ya' heard me. Sex is done, at least at your place here, until she is gone."

"Come on, Lewis."

Kyle is out of sight in seconds.

Oliver is bummed that the physical activities will not continue. He sighs and decides to go check on Stacy and the boys. As he is about to turn the corner towards the nursery there is another knock at the door. He turns and heads back to the apartment door. "Just a second."

Outside the door stands Layla wearing only a silk robe.

Schuyler stands outside their apartment door down the hall with only a pair of boxers on. "Please, Layla. Come on. Let's talk. It was a poor choice of words. It didn't mean anything."

Layla turns to look at Schuyler as Oliver opens the door. "Those words always mean something. We had an agreement. I can't believe you crossed that line."

Oliver looks down the hall as Schuyler walks towards Layla. "Layla. What's going on?"

"Can I come in Oliver?"

"Sure."

Layla rushes in as Schuyler arrives at the door.

Oliver blocks Schuyler's path inside to Layla. "Let me by, Fish."

"I think she doesn't want to see you right now. You should respect that."

"This is between Layla and me. We need to deal with this. Let me in."

"Go away, Schuyler. I don't want to see you right now," yells Layla from inside Oliver's apartment.

"Sorry, Sky. You heard the lady. I think she needs some space."

Schuyler sighs and peers inside over Oliver's shoulder. "Fine, Layla. You can run for now, but at some point we're going to have to talk about what just happened."

"Nothing happened. It's done."

"If that were true you wouldn't have run across the hall and into Oliver's protection."

Oliver places his hand on Schuyler's shoulder. "You should go, Sky. You can catch up with her later. I think she needs some time."

"Fine. Sorry, Fish. This is ridiculous." Schuyler looks inside towards Layla again. "You can't hide forever. We live together you know."

Layla yells out. "Don't remind me."

Stacy comes out from the back. "Keep it down. The boys are sleeping." Stacy surveys the scene. She sees Layla next to the sofa. She sees Schuyler standing in the hall half clothed. She likes the view. Schuyler's hot body always got her worked up. She wishes Oliver was not blocking the complete view. "What's going on here?"

Layla looks over at Stacy. "It's none of your concern."

"Really? Then you should have kept your voice down and not air your dirty laundry for everyone to hear."

Schuyler turns and heads back to his apartment. He slams the door.

Layla jumps hearing the door slam.

Oliver comes back inside and closes the apartment door.

"You're such a dumb girl," says Stacy looking at Layla.

"Who asked you?"

"I simply speak my mind."

"Well didn't anyone ever tell you if you don't have something nice to say to keep your mouth shut?"

"Oh. You think the truth isn't nice?"

"Whatever. I'm not wasting my breath on you." Layla sits on the sofa and sighs.

Stacy moves closer. "I don't get you. I mean, first you have Cris who you toss aside like a piece of garbage and now you send Schuyler away. What do these guys see in you? You're a big tease, Layla."

"That's enough, Stacy," says Oliver. "Why don't you go back and check on the boys."

"Fine, Oliver." Stacy looks over at Layla. "Have a good day. Oh and if you see anymore hot guys around. Leave them alone. Some of us girls can treat them right."

Oliver grabs Stacy and turns her to face in the direction towards the nursery, "Goodbye, Stacy."

Stacy leaves the living area.

Oliver goes and sits on the sofa next to Layla. "So what happened?"

"Thanks for sending him away."

"What did he do, Layla?"

"Schuyler and I had an agreement. We agreed to have only a physical relationship without any emotional stuff. That's all it was supposed to be. After Cris I didn't want anything serious."

"Because you still love Cris. You always have."

"That doesn't matter. "

"Fine. So what did Schuyler do exactly?"

"We were having sex and he said he loved me."

"Wow. You're a lucky girl. Two hot guys are in love with you."

"So. I don't want that. I can't be with Cris and I don't want to be with Schuyler at least not that way. Why did he ruin this? Things were perfect. We had so much fun together. Now that's over."

"Maybe now you can figure out why you keep pushing Cris away. It seems you'll have more time on your hands without the Schuyler distraction."

"Please stop with the Cris thing, Oliver. I shouldn't have bothered you with this. I know you don't understand my choices."

"You're right on that. I don't get it. Cris loves you. You've hurt him."

"So he's more your friend than me now?"

"No. Don't go there, Layla. You're both my friends. You guys helped me through some rough stuff. I do think you've treated him badly."

"I know that Oliver. I feel bad. I wish he would move on. I want him to be happy regardless of what you think."

"I think you know what would make him happy."

"That's not going to happen."

Oliver gives up. "Okay. So now what? How do you deal with Schuyler?"

"I'm not sure. I'll avoid him for a while."

"Um. Reminder. You live with him."

"I'll make sure I'm not home when he is or I'll lock myself in my bedroom."

"Really? That's sounds silly. Its like you'll be a prisoner in your own place."

"I'm okay with it, really. Can I hang out here until Schuyler goes back to work? I can't see him for a while."

"Sure. I need to check on Stacy, the kids and Kyle."

"Oh. I'm so sorry. How is Kyle? I heard about what happened on the news this morning."

"He's always puts on a brave front. He acts like nothing is bothering him, but I know better."

"It sounds like they all went through quite an ordeal. Any news on finding the bad guy?"

"Nope. Not yet. Hopefully my dad has his best cops on it?"

"Your dad?"

"He's the new Crimson police chief."

"Really? He left Iowa?"

"Yep. I have both my parents here now, even if one of them isn't in my life."

"Sorry about your dad. I remember how horrible he was when I met him."

"Oh well. His loss. Hang out as long as you like."

"Thanks."

Oliver stands. "Make yourself at home. I'll be in back if you need anything. I need to grab Stacy's luggage from downstairs. I almost forgot. I'll be back in a few minutes." Oliver exits the apartment.

Layla sighs as she surveys her old stomping grounds.

Barbara stands outside of her car. The car is parked outside of a house at 313 Crimson Lane. She believes her eyes are playing tricks on her. It's as if she is back in Iowa standing in front of the house she shared with George. She blinks several times trying to get back to reality. There is no way this house looks identical to their former home. When she focuses again the view does not change. The outside paint is the same color, the front porch has the same furniture the house in Iowa had and there are even a couple trees almost in the same place as back in Iowa. Barbara believes she is losing her mind. Her guilt over being physical with such a monster like Ray or Carl, she wonders if those names are even real, is eating her up inside. How could she be so stupid? Damn George and his hate. She never would have been in this situation if her soon to be former husband could be a more tolerant and accepting man. This is George's fault. Deep down she knows blaming George is wrong, but it helps ease some of her internal disgust and pain.

A police car pulls up behind her. George jumps out and approaches her. "Hey. Sorry I'm running late. What do you think? Do you like it? I wanted it to be like our place back in Iowa. I wanted to show you how much I love you. Surprised?" He waits for a response as if he is a young boy hoping for a sweet treat from his mother.

"I'm a little in shock, George. It's almost identical."

George smiles. "That's the plan. Let's go inside. I can't wait for you to see it. Some of the floor plan is different, but it feels like home even though we're not in Iowa any longer. It's here when you're ready to come home."

"Don't start that, George. We're a long way from me coming home. Well at least you're a long way from being ready for me to come home." Barbara starts to walk towards the house.

George follows.

They reach the front door and George opens the door with his key. "Welcome home." He opens the door.

Barbara does not respond, but enters the house. She is shocked again at the similarities. "George, this is crazy."

George ignores the crazy comment and closes the door. "The furniture isn't exactly the same as you took some of the furniture from Iowa, but I tried to find pieces that are close. It makes me feel like I'm back in Iowa with my family. Like I still have you."

Barbara doesn't want to look around anymore as memories start to flood back. She thinks about turning around and leaving, but her body will not move towards the door.

"So I was shocked to get your call, but I'm so happy you did. What's going on?"

Barbara approaches George and soon stands directly in front of him. "Can we stop talking? I simply need you to hold me."

"Is everything okay?" George is concerned.

Barbara holds her hand to George's mouth. "No talking, please." She leans in and kisses George.

George is shocked, but the kiss helps make him feel at home again. He looks into Barbara's eyes and knows what she wants without any words being spoken. He leans forward and the two kiss again. He wraps her in his arms.

Barbara feels like her escape plan from the guilt over Carl is working. "Make love to me, George. I need you."

The kissing continues.

Brody enters his apartment after a long run. He is wearing a tank top drenched in sweat, running shorts and running shoes. He heads to the kitchen and grabs some water from the refrigerator. He downs the water immediately and then sits at the small table outside the kitchen. He sighs. Now what is he supposed to do? He can't run every hour of every day to block the painful memories that still haunt him, but it does seem to be the only thing that helps keep his mind clear. He stands and decides to take a shower. As he heads toward the bedroom door, the apartment door opens and Jessica enters.

"Hey." Brody is surprised to see Jessica. "Everything okay? I didn't expect to see you today."

Jessica lays her purse on the table near the door. "I need to talk with you." She heads to this kitchen table and sits.

Brody heads back to the table. "Sounds serious."

Jessica smiles, not knowing how to begin the conversation. "Not really. So how are you? You look good. Real good right now." Jessica is excited by the hotness in front of her.

Brody smiles. "Thanks. I went for a run. It helps keep my head clear."

"How are the sessions with Marty?"

"Difficult. It's like I'm reliving it all again. I thought this was behind me. I thought I had dealt with it all and then Tyler shows up and everything comes flooding back. I hate this, Jess. I hate what it's doing to us. I know things have been strained. I feel it every time we're together."

"I know. I wish I could do more to help."

"Just you being here helps. I love you, Jess."

Jessica looks away.

Brody notes the movement and feels a pit forming inside. "So. You wanted to talk."

Jessica looks back at Brody. "Look. I know you're not going to like this. The timing of this sucks, but mom wants me to go oversees with her for a while. A few months tops."

Brody stands and walks into the living room. "Are you leaving me?"

Jessica stands and follows Brody. She stands behind him, grabs him and turns him around. "No. I love you."

"It's not like I can control it, Jess. I wish it hadn't happened at all. I wish the memories would stay away. You know that."

"Stop, Brody. Let me try to explain. I was saying this has put a damper on us. We've been spending less time together. You've been trying to put things back in perspective. Maybe some time."

"Don't, Jess. Please don't say some time apart will be good for us. I'm sorry I've been such a mess. Let's spend more time together. I want too more than anything. I simply don't know when these crazy flashes will reappear. I don't want you to see me like I was in St. Anne's."

"I get that. This trip will make that a reality."

"My gut says this trip will be the end of us."

"You don't believe that. Brody look, if we truly love each other and deep down I believe we do the trip or time apart will have no bearing on us."

"Jess. You're part of my support system. I need you."

"No. You've been pushing me away ever since that night at the bowling alley."

"I want to protect you. If I go off the deep end I don't want you to see that side of me."

"I saw a lot at St. Anne's Brody and I still fell in love with you. You don't have to protect me like that."

"I'm a guy. That's what guy's do."

Jessica smiles.

Brody laughs lightly. "That sounded so lame."

"Not at all. It gives me hope that one day we can be healthy together. I sometimes wonder if we were drawn to each other because we both were going through a very difficult time. Haven't you wondered the same thing?"

"I don't believe that, Jess. We fell in love. Love is different than some kind of warped dependency. I can't believe you said that."

"Is this the start of you getting mad? Will it make it easier for you to accept what I'm saying?"

"I don't want you to go. I want you to stay. I want us."

"Trust me when I say this, Brody. I want us too. More than anything, but we're not working. This trip can let us reflect on us and see if we truly have something."

Brody walks away as his anger builds. "Distance or time apart will not give us that reflection. It will drive us further apart. You know that, Jess."

"Its what I need, Brody. I need some time away."

"What about what I need or what I want? I'm going through hell right now. Please."

"I'm truly sorry about all that. I am. I want you to get past this, but I'm not part of the solution. You've made that clear. You push me away. I have to force information out of you and even then I don't feel like I'm getting the entire story."

"Because I don't know what this is all about. I'm trying to figure it out myself. How can I let you know if I don't know?"

"I'm sorry, Brody. I don't know what to say. We're talking in circles. We're not connecting anymore. You know this."

Brody sits back down at the table. "Okay. If this is what you want. I love you too much to argue. Maybe you're right. Maybe some time apart is good. A few months feels like forever right now."

"Time flies. I'll be back in no time."

"Every days seems like a trillion to me right now. A few months will be hell. Will we talk while you're away?"

"I'm not sure that's a good idea. Let's see where things are at when I get back."

"Why does it sound like we're done?"

Jessica approaches and bends down on her knees in front of Brody. She places her hands on his knees. "Because maybe we are. Maybe we have been for a while now."

"I wish you didn't feel this way, Jess. I wish I hadn't let you down that much."

"You didn't okay. Maybe this is more on me. I don't know. Do you hate me?"

"I could never hate you. I love you."

Jessica leans up and places a kiss on Brody's mouth. The kiss is tender and heartfelt. She then stands. "I need to go." She is fighting tears. "I'm sorry. I'll see you when we get back. Take care of yourself." She grabs her purse and is out the door in seconds.

Brody sits motionless at the kitchen table chair staring forward. He feels more alone than ever.

Outside the door Jessica hesitates about leaving. She thinks about going back in and reaches for the doorknob. She then changes her mind and walks away.

Oliver peeks inside his bedroom. He sees Kyle asleep in the bed. He walks over to the bed and sits down. He looks down at Kyle and smiles. "I'm so glad you're okay. I was beside myself without you. It's hard to believe less than a year ago I would have never guessed I would feel this way, but you have a hold of me Kyle Lewis." He runs his hand across Kyle's cheek. "A hold so strong it scares me. What would I do if I ever lost you? I know now what you went through when I was shot. I don't want either of us to feel that way again. I'll find this Ray guy if it's the last thing I ever do. I'll put him away for what he did. I promise."

Kyle seems to react to the name Ray from within his sleep. He turns away from Oliver, rolls on his side and pulls himself into a fetal position.

"Kyle? Did I wake you?"

There is no response. Oliver ponders the reaction. Did he react to the name Ray? Oliver decides it can't be. His imagination is on overdrive after the events of the past several days. "You sleep handsome. I'll be right outside." Oliver leaves the bedroom. Once outside he hears crying from inside the nursery, but not the cries he typically hears. He ventures to the nursery and sees Stacy in one of the rocking chairs crying uncontrollably. Oliver sits in the other chair and places his hand on her arm. "Hey. What's going on?"

"You don't have to worry about me Oliver." Stacy tries to calm herself. "I'm not your problem."

"You're the mother of my kids. If something is wrong it affects us all. Talk to me. It'll help."

Stacy grabs a tissue and dabs at her eyes. "I'm such a failure. I look at these two precious boys and I know I have nothing to offer them." Tears begin to flow from Stacy's eyes again. "I'm not good at being a mom. I can't even find a steady place to live or a job for that matter. Who's going to hire a former stripper? I even went to Roxy. She laughed in my face. I'm giving your dad all the ammunition in the world to take them away."

"Don't say that. My dad is not going to take these little guys away from us. I won't let that happen."

"With my background I've practically given him the advantage."

"You can't change the past, only now and going forward. You've been trying real hard. We all can see it."

In between tears Stacy tries to talk. "Then why is everyone against me?"

"When did you start worrying about what others think? You definitely didn't care earlier when you were laying into Layla."

"She irritates me. She has two great guys and she treats them both like crap. I would die to have either one of those guys."

"Layla has some issues. Who doesn't?"

Stacy sighs. "True. Look at me, one big basket of issues. I don't know how to change. I've been trying. I'm sick of being slapped around."

"Look. Maybe you have to go through this. Maybe its part of the Stacy growth as a person process."

"This sucks."

"I know. It won't be easy. You have a lot to overcome, but look in those cribs. They'll be there to support you whenever you need. That's called unconditional love. You'll always be their mom. Always."

Stacy stands and walks over to Dax's crib. "They're so beautiful. They're probably the best thing to happen to me ever."

Oliver stands and walks over to stand by Stacy. "We did a good thing."

"I see that now, but at the time good old Stacy was up to no good. I don't want them to be like me ever."

"They'll have parts of both of us. We'll have to wait and see what happens."

"I hope they take more after you. You definitely have things more together than me."

"Thanks, but as I said before we all have issues. I'm no exception."

"Kyle doesn't want me here."

"He'll come around. He loves the boys too. He knows they need you."

"I think Kyle and I will always be like oil and water."

Oliver smiles. "Well then we'll have some fireworks from time to time. Fireworks are cool right?"

Stacy cracks a smile. "Thanks."

"You feel better?"

"A little. Will you promise me something?"

Oliver looks worried.

"I see that look, Oliver. I need you to keep it real with me. When I step out of line or cross a line please let me know it. Gigi used to be that person for me, but she's gone."

"I can try, but something tells me we might butt heads a lot. We're very different."

"I simply need you to remind me that it is about them, not me. They're all that matters."

"Deal. I'll do what I can."

"Thanks." Stacy reaches down and lightly kisses Dax on the forehead. "Would you mind watching them for a bit? I need some alone time."

"You sure you're okay?"

"I'll be fine. I really appreciate you listening. I haven't always been nice to you."

"It all in the past. Go. We'll be here when you get back."

"Thanks." She then walks over to Ben's crib and kisses him also. "I love you, little one." She exits the nursery.

Oliver sits in the rocking chair again. He watches his boys sleep.

Layla continues to sit on the sofa when the apartment door opens.

Cristian enters and is surprised to see Layla sitting inside. "Hey."

Layla wonders what she was thinking by running over here. "Hey."

"What's going on?"

"I came by to see how Kyle's doing."

"I'm sure the guys appreciate that. How is he?"

"Sleeping I think."

"That's good."

Silence fills the air. The two appear visibly uncomfortable.

"You want anything to drink?" Cristian heads to the kitchen.

Layla wishes she would hear the door down the hall close. This would be her sign that Schuyler is gone and she can return home. "No thanks."

Cristian grabs water from the refrigerator. "So are you waiting on Oliver?"

Layla sighs. "Not exactly. I just need some alone time. Oliver said I could sit here for a bit."

"Sorry. I can go to my room. I didn't mean to interrupt."

"Don't be silly, Cris. This is your place. You can be where you want."

Layla hears the door from down the hall open and close. She breathes a sigh of relief. Schuyler is finally heading back to the hospital. She stands. "Well. I should be going. It was nice to see you. Take care." Layla heads to the door.

Cristian races over to stop her. He stands in front of the door blocking her exit. "Please stay. Let's talk."

"I can't Cris. I need to get back."

Cristian reaches for her arm. "Please. Will a few minutes hurt?"

Layla feels energized from his touch, but refuses to let her resolve down. "Sorry. I really need to go."

"Are things always going to be this way? We can't even talk comfortably with one another."

"I don't know."

Stacy exits from the back after touching herself up in the bathroom post crying. "Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."

"Right," snaps Layla.

Stacy approaches choosing to ignore Layla. "Hey, Cristian."

"Stacy." Cristian nods his head, but he still isn't over Stacy's escape with the boys a while back.

"How have you been?"

"Not bad."

"Good. Well I'm heading out for a bit. See you later."

"Later?" Cristian is confused.

"I'm staying here with the boys for a bit. I had a bit of a setback in the living arrangement department this morning."

"I see."

"You okay with me staying here?"

"It's Oliver's place also. If he wants you here then I'm fine with it."

"Okay. Thanks." Stacy looks to Layla. "See you around, Layla." Stacy passes Cristian and begins to head out. It irritates her when Layla doesn't respond so she turns to look back. "Cat got your tongue?"

"I don't have anything to say to you."

"Fine. Be that way." Stacy looks to Cristian. "She's here hiding from Schuyler."

"You bitch."

Stacy shrugs off the name calling from Layla. "Sorry, Cris. You have a right to know. It's written all over your face how you feel about her. Sadly she's to pathetic to meet you halfway."

Cristian fires back at Stacy. "That's enough."

Stacy hold hers hands up in the air to say she gives up. "Sorry, Cristian. I wish you would get past her and focus your energy on someone who cares."

Layla chimes in. "Let me guess. You? That will never happen. Cris has better taste than to associate with you."

Stacy ignores the comment and looks at Cristian. "You deserve better than how she treats you. I know its not my business anymore, but from a former friend please let her go. Let yourself be happy. If she wants to be miserable that's all on her."

"Would you please go," says Layla. "No one wants you here."

"Fine. You two have fun or not as the case may be." Stacy exits the apartment.

"She's a piece of work," says Layla as the door closes.

"She can be brash, but her words ring true. That's probably why she bothers you so much. So, Schuyler problems?"

"I'm not going to talk with you about this, Cris. Its too weird."

"Only if you make it that way."

"No. We're not going to talk about Schuyler. He's off limits. I need to go."

"Okay. I'll see you around then. Say hi to Schuyler for me." Cristian walks away.

Layla is shocked that Cristian starts to walk away. "You're walking away?"

Cristian turns to face her. "Yep. I'm tired of this. You don't want to talk. You don't want to be around me. I can only take so much." Cristian ponders his words. "In fact I'm over it. Stacy's right. I deserve better. I deserve better from you. Be happy with your roommate. I hope the physical aspects of that relationship give you what you're looking for. Something tells me in the end your going to end up one lonely girl."

"That's kind of harsh."

Cristian snaps. "Really, Layla. Get over yourself. I'm tired of this being all about you. I'm a person you know. I have feelings, but you're so wrapped up in your own crap, screw anyone else's feelings."

Layla fights tears as Cristian's words hit home. "I'm sorry."

"I used to believe that you felt bad about all this, but not anymore. I want you to go."

"Please. Don't be like this."

Cristian heads to the door and opens it. "You couldn't race out of here fast enough earlier. So go."

Layla goes through the door as instructed. She begins to turn back when the door slams in her face. She begins to realize she may have blown things with Cristian for good.

Rex, at the Crimson hospital, sits at Zach's bedside watching him sleep. He feels torn between being with Shane and being with Zach. He recalls events from a little earlier in another room upstairs from Zach's room. He smiles as he remembers Shane telling him to get out of his room because Zach should not wake up alone. The smile fades, however, when Rex recalls Roxy's reaction. She completely does not understand why Rex would offer support to an individual that in part is responsible for the ordeal her family had to endure recently. Rex then smiles again thinking about Shane telling Roxy to chill out, that Zach needed his dad to be there for him. Rex is amazed at the progressive and caring nature of his son. He thinks about how proud he is to have such an amazing son. Rex looks at Zach sleep. He thinks to himself that even when sleeping Zach never looks at peace. He wishes more than anything that he could give Zach the peace he needs. He would do anything to help Zach move forward and finally put the past behind him. Rex wants Zach to know he is here with him and even on occasions when the coast is clear holds the bed bound man's hand. Rex is holding his hand at this very moment.

Zach, still sleeping, feels the sensation of the most recent handholding. The sensation of the touch builds inside, forcing Zach to come out of his long slumber. His eyes slowly open. At first he can only make the outline of a figure sitting beside the bed. As minutes pass the image becomes clearer.

Rex notes the eye movement and senses when Zach's vision comes into focus. "Hey you. Welcome back."

Zach smiles. There isn't a better way to wake up after the last few days than seeing this guy at his bedside. "Hi," says Zach in a very weak and low voice.

"You need anything? Water?"

Zach nods slowly. His body still feels like crap.

Rex reaches for the water pitcher and fills a small glass. He holds the glass for Zach.

Zach drinks. The water tastes good and refreshing. He downs the entire glass in seconds. "Thanks."

"The doctor wanted me to let her know when you wake up. I'll go let the nurse know." Rex starts to walk away, but is stopped by a firm grip on his hand.

"Wait. Can we simply sit here for a minute?"

"Sure." Rex sits back down in the chair he previously occupied.

"Thank you."

Rex smiles at Zach.

"I love that smile," says Zach.

Rex is embarrassed by the comment.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you."

"It's all good. I'm so glad you're awake."

"I think I could sleep for days."

"You'll get your wish on that. I think you're stuck in here for a while, but I'll be here with you."

"No. You need to be with Shane. How is he?"

"He's good. They think he'll be able to go home soon."

"Good. I want you to take him home and make him feel like he is the most special kid in the world."

"He's special. He's my son. He ordered me out of his room earlier so that you wouldn't wake up alone."

"That kid is amazing. He has such a caring soul."

"I was thinking that exact thing earlier."

"When he is able to go, I want you to take him home. A kid should not have to go through what he has and he shouldn't have to stay in a hospital any longer than necessary."

"I hear what you're saying, but Shane isn't going to let me leave you."

Zach become visibly agitated and upset. "Please, Rex. You have to take him home. Get him out of here. Spend time with your son. I'll be fine."

"Hey. Calm down. What's going on? What's this all about?"

"I appreciate you wanting to be here, both of you for that matter, but Shane needs to be at home with his dad and his family. Not here around sickness, both mental and physical."

"Shane is a strong kid. He knows the score."

"He shouldn't have to, Rex. He needs to enjoy being young while he can. Please promise me this."

"I'm not going to leave you here by yourself. I refuse to do that."

"I'll manage. I always do. Take him home and forget about me. I'm trouble. You know that. The last few days are proof positive."

"No. You can't force me away. I'm going to be here for you."

"No." Zach starts to tear up. "I don't want this for Shane. I want him to experience a normal life. I'm not normal. You both need to move past me. I don't want what has happened to me to ever happen to him. I want you to protect him. Right now you can do that by staying away from me. For good if necessary."

Rex reaches forward and delicately wipes away the tears from Zach's bruised face with his hands. "Trust me, Zach. Shane is good. We've talked about him seeing Marty to discuss the recent events. It will be good for him to talk about everything that happened. He's shared with me what happened. The more he talks the more he can process it. I'm sure he'll be fine."

"I hope so, but not if he is around me."

"Okay. You need to stop. You're getting all worked up over nothing."

"Don't dismiss what I'm saying."

"I'm not. I appreciate your concern for Shane. I know he will appreciate it too, but you've become a big part of our lives. He won't walk away from you. I won't either."

"That's exactly what you both need to do. You need to for your son. Who am I kidding? You need to stay away for yourself. Ray will come back and the only way I can guarantee safety for you both is for me to stay far away."

"Let's not get into all this. Ray is gone. If he steps one foot back into town, Crimson or Llanview, he will be arrested on the spot. You need to relax. Getting all worked up isn't good for you."

Zach shakes his head no. "You don't know him and what he is capable of. He'll be back."

"Let's change the subject. We can talk about Ray later. Let me get the doctor now." Rex stands.

"I'll tell the doctor I don't want any visitors."

Rex becomes agitated. "You would do that? You want to be alone forever? I thought we meant something to you?"

"You know you do. Don't go there. I'm doing this for you."

"Well excuse me if I disagree. I don't know what's really going on with us, but I need you Zach. When I'm away from you I feel lost, out of place and miserable. I think about you all the time. I want to figure this all out. I want you to help me figure it out."

Zach wants to help him more than anything, but he can't chance Ray doing to Shane what he did to him in that horrible bedroom back in Deepwater so many times. He knows Ray is sick enough to hurt Shane in the same way. The tears become stronger. Why is the universe so cruel? "I wish I could do that for you, for us, for Shane, but it's not possible. I need you both to be safe. I know you don't get this and if you need to hate me fine, but please take your boy home and forget you ever heard the name Zach Stafford."

Roxy now stands in the doorway. "I couldn't have said it better myself."

Rex glares at Roxy. "This is not your concern, Roxy. Please stay out of it."

Roxy charges in and stands directly in front of her son. "No." Roxy points to Zach with her hand. "This man put your son in peril. Your son could have died. He wants you to forget about him. I say good idea. Shane is being released now. We should get him home."

"I need a few minutes with Zach, Roxy. I'll be up in a few minutes."

"Go now, Rex," says Zach in as forceful of a voice as he can muster.

"You heard him, Rex. Let's go." Roxy grabs him by the arm.

"Let go of me, Roxy. I get that your mad, but Zach is important to both Shane and me." Rex yanks his arm away from her grasp.

"Really? It seems to me maybe he doesn't share the same sentiment. He's telling you to get lost. Does he have to draw you a picture?"

"You don't know the whole story."

"True, but you know what son. I don't care. You need to leave this room with me now."

"Go, Rex. She's right. Shane needs you. Your family needs you."

Rex pleads with Zach through his eyes to reconsider his position.

Zach can't stand the view and quickly looks away. If he doesn't his resolve will deteriorate.

Rex chokes up now. "You look away. I can't believe you, Zach. I'll go for now, but Shane and I will be back."

Roxy begins to say something.

"No, Roxy. This is not up for discussion." Rex notes Zach is still looking away. "Look at me, Zach."

Zach does not comply with Rex's request.

"I said look at me, damn you."

Zach still does not look.

Rex walks over and turns Zach's face with his hand. "I'm beyond frustrated with you. You're not going to run from us. I won't let you. Shane won't let you. I know you think your doing the right thing here, but you are so wrong. I'll do everything in my power to make you see that. Even if I have to hunt this psycho Ray down and drag him back here kicking and screaming."

Zach panics at Rex's last words. "Leave it be, Rex. Please. Promise me you won't do anything stupid."

"I can't do that. I mean per your own words we can't associate with you. So what I do on my own time is my own business."

"You can't go after him. He'll kill you and anyone close to you."

Rex gets directly in Zach's face. "I'll take that chance if it proves to you what you mean to me."

"I'm sorry. Truly I am. I wish things were different."

"They can be if you try to make them different."

"You're wrong. I've been down that road to many times to count. It all ends the same."

Rex backs away from Zach. "Wow. I guess we mean that little to you. You know. I have an idea. I will let you tell Shane your news yourself. I'll go get him and you can tell him how you don't want anything to do with him or us."

"No way, Rex," chimes Roxy. "That boy has been through enough. We are taking him directly home."

"Listen to her, Rex. She's right. Shane needs to be home. That's been my point from the beginning of all this."

Rex storms out of the room.

"Finally," says Roxy. "That took long enough." She looks at Zach. "You stay the hell away from them."

A defeated Zach looks away as tears begin to flow again. "No problem. They're better off without me."

"I'm glad you understand. Good luck to you. You know maybe life away from here is what you need."

"I get the message."

"Good. Happy travels." Roxy exits the room.

Zach's physical wounds intensify in pain as he realizes Rex and Shane may be gone from his life forever.

Later that evening Oliver leads Kyle into his apartment. Kyle is blindfolded.

"Oliver. Where are we? I don't smell cheeseburgers. I'm starving for a cheeseburger."

Oliver closes the apartment door. "You'll see. A few more seconds and the surprise will be ready. Stand right here for a minute. I'll be right back." Oliver races back to Kyle's bedroom. He asked Brody earlier to help him out. The room is adorned with candles. He proceeds as quickly as possible to light the several dozen of candles.

"Oliver, come on. I'm hungry."

Oliver soon finishes lighting the candles. He returns to the living area. "Okay. We're almost there." He directs Kyle over to the bedroom door. He removes the blindfold. "Surprise."

Kyle smiles at the surprise. He loves it, but decides he has a perfect opportunity to play a practical joke on his man. He turns to face Oliver with the most serious look on his face. "What's this?"

"I thought we could have some alone time. Look around. We're all alone. We're friend free, kid free and Stacy free."

Kyle places his hands on Oliver's arms. "I love the gesture, Ollie, but I'm starvin'. A Rodi's cheeseburger is all I can think about."

"Can't that wait a little while? I mean we haven't had any real alone time since you came home."

Inside Kyle is laughing as Oliver's disappointment becomes more and more visible. The tone of his voice even begins to change in a more baby like fashion. "Oliver, ya' know the man code. Nothing comes between food and a man."

"Not even man candy?" asks Oliver.

Kyle can't help it and busts out laughing. "Man candy? Did you really just say that?"

"What? Give me a break. I'm struggling here. I thought we could enjoy some quiet physical time and then go eat."

"I think eatin' first sounds better."

Oliver moves forward and begins to kiss Kyle on the neck. "Can't I change your mind?"

Kyle lightly pushes Oliver away. "Back away big guy. No tricks, food first and then sex. In that order."

Oliver backs away and visibly accepts defeat. "Okay. Let me blow out the candles and we can go."

Kyle's trying super hard not to laugh at the pout face Oliver is forming. "I'll take care of the candles, plus I need to make a pit stop. You go have a seat on the sofa. I'll be right back."

"Sure." Oliver shrugs and walks as if he is on a walk of shame to the sofa. He walk seems to take forever, but he eventually finds the sofa.

Kyle enters the bedroom, closely the door slightly. He undresses and is completely naked. He stands in the doorway of the bedroom. Looking at the back of Oliver's head. "Ya' ready?"

Oliver does not look back. "I guess." He stands and heads to the apartment door. He does not look Kyle's way.

"Where ya' goin' handsome? I thought ya' wanted some man candy."

Oliver turns to look and his face goes from a pout to a wow. He smiles to Kyle as he approaches his naked boyfriend. "You were playing me."

Kyle laughs. "The looks on your face were priceless."

"I don't like to be played."

Kyle smiles in only that sexy little way that he can. "Even if you get this prize in the end?"

Oliver gets a mischievous look on his face. "I think someone needs to be taught a lesson."

Kyle panics knowing that look can only mean one thing. "What are ya' up to, officer?"

"Do you remember the punishment for playing me?"

"Please, no. I was only having a little fun."

"Oh we're going to have fun. Count on it." Oliver speeds towards Kyle.

Kyle races into the bedroom, jumps in bed and wraps the covers around his body tightly.

Oliver stands at the side of the bed now. "You never learn." He begins tugging at the covers.

"Ollie, please. I was only kiddin' around."

Oliver smiles. "I'm only kidding around now." Oliver does another tug and the covers are on the floor in seconds exposing a completely naked Kyle. Oliver lunges onto the bed and begins to tickle Kyle in all the known ticklish places.

Kyle laughs, cries and tries to fight him off. "Ollie, stop. I can't stand being tickled."

"You should of thought about that back during the man code and food bit."

This tickling continues for a few more minutes.

Kyle finally gives in. "Okay. Ya' win. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."

Oliver leans up sitting across Kyle's legs. "I'm smart enough to know better than to believe that."

"It's why ya' love me."

"Its one of the million reasons I love you." Oliver jumps up and begins to head back out of the room.

Kyle looks his way. "Where ya' goin?"

"Back out to the living room. You need to get dressed so we can go eat some cheeseburgers."

"Really?"

"Yep." Oliver walks out and out of sight. Outside the room and out sight he also ditches his clothes.

Kyle stands and walks to the door still naked. "Ollie?" Kyle steps out and looks to the right. "Wow. You're so hot. Damn you."

Oliver approaches his guy. They begin to kiss. Kyle jumps up and wraps his legs around Oliver. The kissing continues.

In between kisses, Kyle whispers. "Make love to me, Ollie."

Oliver walks into the bedroom, kicking the door closed with his foot as he passes.

Once inside, he lets Kyle down. Kyle grabs Oliver's hand and they head to the bed. Kyle lays down first and Oliver is on top of him in seconds. They kiss, roll over back and forth and grind against one another. Oliver begins to travel down Kyle's body with his lips. He works Kyle's nipples with his mouth and tongue. Kyle moans from the sensation. Oliver then begins to head towards Kyle's throbbing cock. He teases the tip with his tongue, squeezing Kyle's nipples with his fingers.

Kyle can barely catch his breath as his excitement grows.

Oliver then shifts his focus back to Kyle's smooth, tight and muscular chest. He kisses his boyfriend from the tip of his cock, to his belly button, back to his nipples, back to his neck on both sides and then finds Kyle's eager mouth again. The hunger Oliver has for Kyle at this moment is clearly displayed with the force of the next kiss. Their respective tongues can't go deep enough. Their cocks grind against each other and Kyle is sent into sensation overload.

Kyle nudges Oliver to roll over on his back as the two continue to kiss.

Oliver's arms wrap around Kyle to pull him as close as humanly possible.

Kyle soon sits up and simply stares down at the hot, hairy chest that lies beneath him. He runs his hands over Oliver's hairy chest. His cock hardens just watching his hands run through his lover's hair. He bends down and begins to kiss the hairy chest. He takes in his man's scent. His cock feels like it is going to explode as the scent enters his body.

Oliver reaches for Kyle's cock with his hand. He wraps his hand around Kyle and squeezes.

Kyle moans.

Oliver begins to stroke his lover's cock. He is slow, deliberate and methodical.

Kyle's moans intensify. Kyle begins to move his body up and down forcing his cock through Oliver's hand.

Oliver releases his grip when he feels Kyle's excitement build momentum.

Kyle doesn't miss a beat. Within seconds he has his mouth around Oliver's cock. His rhythm is slow and planned, but soon picks up pace. He also backs away when he feels Oliver's excitement about ready to bubble over. Kyle lands across Oliver again and the two resume kissing and taking in the sensation of two excited bodies together.

A few minutes later, Kyle reaches over for some bedside accessories. From this point forward the two do not lose eye contact. Kyle gets Oliver ready and within minutes feels his boyfriend inside him. Kyle starts the ride slow, but intensifies the pace, as he is ready. As the very intimate connection continues Kyle gets lost in Oliver's eyes. He recalls seeing those eyes for the very first time and being drawn to them instantly. The beauty of this geeky, strong, handsome man had him at hello. Kyle begins to ride faster.

Oliver reaches for his boyfriend's cock and begins to stroke it in unison with Kyle's ride.

As Kyle's big moment arrives he looks deep into Oliver's eyes. No words are spoken, but love needs no words. They will be forever connected. A tear falls from Kyle's eye from the intensity of the moment and travels down his cheek. After the big moment he bends down and kisses his guy. The kiss is passionate and tender. He then rolls over on his side and grabs Oliver's cock with his own hand.

Oliver looks towards Kyle and continues to look into his eyes. Oliver still gets overwhelmed with the powerful connection between him and Kyle. At times he feels like he needs to pinch himself to wake from this dream. He feels his passion about ready to explode.

Kyle encourages him with his eyes.

Oliver explodes and fireworks roar inside, but the love he sees in Kyle's eyes is all he needs or will ever need.

The two lay and hold each other for a few minutes after the lovemaking. They both lay still in each other's arms relishing in the power and love of their relationship. This bond of love is stronger than ever.

An hour or so later, Kyle stands looking out the bedroom window, fully dressed and waiting for Oliver. The bed is a mess and the candles are now out.

Oliver exits the bathroom fully dressed as well. He stands behind Kyle. He wraps his arms around him and lays his head on his shoulder. "You okay?"

"Yes and no."

"You want to talk about it?"

"I do, but I'm afraid to let it all in again. If I talk about it, I'm letting it back in. Being held prisoner and learning what Zach had to go through brought it back. I thought it was all behind me."

"I haven't wanted to press you about the events in old Crimson, but I knew something was off."

"Zach's in trouble, Oliver. He needs all of us. He's never been my favorite person, but no one should go through what he did. I know ya' want me to tell ya', but I can't. It's too personal and it's his business to tell."

"This is more than about Zach. It's about you. Something is off, Kyle. I can feel it."

Kyle turns to face his man.

They wrap their arms around each other.

"There are parts of my past I've buried deep inside. Parts that I never wanted to let out again."

"You can tell me anything. You know that."

Kyle leans into Oliver. "I know. I simply need some processing time. Is that okay?"

"I won't pressure you, but promise if its starts to become to much that you'll lean on me. We're in this together. Always."

Kyle leans up and looks into Oliver's eyes. "I love ya', so damn much."

Oliver looks back at Kyle. "Not more than I love you. You complete me, Kyle, in ways I could never imagine. Thanks for not giving up on me."

The two stand hugging and holding each other.

Barbara sits on the sofa at Oliver's reading a magazine when there is a knock at the door. She stands and walks to the door. She opens the door. "What are you doing here?"

"Don't be mad, Barbara. I heard the call when you were at my place. I knew you would be watching the boys. I thought maybe you would let me see them."

"George, I can't. Oliver doesn't want you around them. If he found out he would never forgive me."

"Please, Barbara. They're my grandsons. I don't want to put you in a bad place, but it's been forever since I've seen them. Oliver doesn't have to know."

Barbara feels torn or maybe she is simply weak from her afternoon of activity with her soon to be ex-husband. "I don't know, George."

"I won't stay long. I promise. I'll be quick. I just want to hold them and see with my own eyes that they're okay."

"They're fine, George."

"So, the answer is no?" George is disappointed.

Barbara sighs. "Come in. We have a few minutes before the boys are supposed to be back.

George enters the apartment.

Barbara closes the door and sighs. What is she doing?

Brody now sits in a jail cell in Crimson.

"I'm sorry, Brody. This all kinds of wrong, but I had to follow my boss's orders."

Brody looks up at the cop outside the cell. "It's fine, Adam. I expected it."

"Do you want to call anyone?"

"There's no one to call. I'll hold my call for now."

"You didn't do this."

"The evidence seems to say otherwise."

"Brody, you don't look right. What's going on?"

"Is there a certain way you're supposed to look in a jail cell?"

"That's not what I mean. There's a distance in your face. Its scary to watch."

"Don't worry about me, pal. It's simply been a shitty day."

"Okay, I'm here if you need anything. I'm off shift now, but you know all the guys upstairs. They'll help you out with anything. We're not big fans of the new police chief here."

"I appreciate that. Enjoy your evening. I'll be fine."

Adam hesitates, but isn't sure if he can do anymore. He heads down the hall and out of sight.

Brody lies down across the jail cell cot. He stares at the concrete ceiling and suddenly the Iraq flashes return.

Rodi's is packed with Llanview residents later that evening.

Stacy sits at the far end of the bar.

Layla enters the restaurant and sits on the opposite end of the bar. She is oblivious to anyone around her as she continues to reel from Schuyler's words. She orders a drink and when the bartender walks away she surveys her surroundings. Her eyes catch Stacy's.

Stacy lifts her soda glass and smiles.

Layla looks away.

Stacy chuckles to herself. She can't help it. She still loves getting under people's skin, Layla especially at present. The woman has Schuyler wrapped around her finger. Stacy would kill to have the hot medical student back in her arms. Stacy then thinks of Cristian. She hates how Layla is treating the only person, besides Oliver, who has ever treated her with kindness recently. He does deserve better. She hopes Cristian heard her words from earlier.

A few minutes later, Cristian enters Rodi's. He begins to head to the bar and stops dead in tracks upon seeing Layla.

Layla smiles at him.

Cristian contemplates leaving, but thinks better of it. Why should he giver her the satisfaction? He needs to show her that she no longer has an effect on him. He heads to the opposite side of the bar and actually sits next to Stacy. "Hey."

Stacy chokes from the shock of hearing the familiar voice. "Are we talking again?" She drinks a bit of soda to clear her throat.

"You were looking out for me earlier today. I appreciate that."

"You're the only friend I've had in recent months. I only want good things for you."

"Well, thanks. I need to get Layla out of my system."

"You'll get no arguments from me on that one. Listen, not to change subjects, but I want to say I'm sorry. I let you down big time when I ran off with the boys. Oliver is one of your best friends. I should have come to you or him. I was so scared by what George said. I thought I would lose them."

"Thanks for saying sorry. I think that's what hurt more than anything. I thought we had built a strong friendship and when backed in a corner you walked away instead of trusting me."

"I'm not good at the friend thing, Cristian. Kimmie can vouch for me on that."

"I need you to work on that if we'll going to get back on track."

Stacy is elated by Cristian's words. "You're going to give me another chance?"

Cristian looks over and smiles. "I want to, but please don't disappoint me again. If you're ever in trouble, you need to come to me. Okay?"

"I hear you loud and clear. I won't make the same mistake twice. I promise."

"So how is Shane?"

"He texted me a little while ago and said he's finally home. I went to the hospital, but Rex wouldn't let me anywhere near him."

"Rex needs to get over it."

"I did some pretty rotten things to Rex. He may never be able to get over it."

"Hopefully time can change some of that."

"Thanks, Cristian."

"For what?"

"For giving me another chance and not giving up on me. You made my day more than you'll ever know."

"Glad I could help." Cristian looks back across the bar at Layla.

Stacy gets a little mad at the look, but decides its best to not ruin a good moment. She has her friend back. Maybe this is the start of things starting to look up.

Layla quickly looks away.

"Hey, sis," says Evangeline. She sits down next to Layla.

"I'm not in the mood to talk, Vang."

"What's wrong?"

"Like your concerned."

"What's with the tone? We're sisters. I am always concerned."

"That's why you want Cristian back for yourself."

"Let's get the facts right little one. You walked away from him and now you have your little play toy."

"That's over too. Happy?"

Evangeline is surprised to hear of the recent development. "What happened?"

"I'm not going to pretend like we're close and confide everything in you."

"So is Cristian still available?"

Layla smiles and shakes her head. "You're too much." She points across the bar. "Does he look available to you?"

Evangeline looks across the bar and sees both Stacy and Cris laughing and deep in conversation. "That little blonde bimbo is not his type. She has nothing on us."

Layla stands. "She has him right now. We're the outsiders here."

"I won't be for long."

"Good luck with that. Have a nice night." Layla begins to leave. She fumbles in her purse for her keys not watching where she is walking. She runs directly into Schuyler.

"Hey. "I've been trying to call you. Why are you avoiding me?"

"You know why. I need to go."

"Layla, please. Stop. Let's talk and regroup. We can't ignore each other forever."

Layla gives in. "You're right, but not here. I'll see you at home. We can talk then."

"You want me to come now?"

"No. Give me some alone time and come home in a few hours."

Schuyler heads to the bar. He sits in the chair vacated by Layla.

"Hi," says the lady next to him. "We haven't met. I'm Layla's big sister. Evangeline."

Schuyler looks to his left and is blown away by the beauty of the lady. "Wow. Hey. Layla didn't mention she had a sister."

"Really? Aren't you her roommate?"

"For now, but our relationship isn't one of closeness per se, at least not on her part."

"Well, between you and me, my baby sister has never been good at knowing a good thing when it's right in front of her." Evangeline places her hand on Schuyler's leg. "Why don't we order some dinner and get to know each other."

Schuyler smiles. "Why not. I have some time to kill before I'm allowed to go home."

The duo does not notice Stacy eyeing them from across the bar.

Cristian notices Stacy looking across the bar. "You still have feelings for him."

"I do, but we both were so different back then. Maybe too much has changed for me to even hope of a second chance."

"Well ironically I understand that. We'll deal with all this relationship or lack there of issues together."

Stacy smiles at her friend. "Sounds like a plan."

Across the bar in the dining area, Nick and Tyler sit at a table finishing up dinner.

"That was awesome, but I am stuffed now. We should go walk dinner off in the park or something." Tyler holds his hand across his stomach for effect.

"It's too hot outside. We're in early August you know."

Tyler smiles seductively at his tablemate. "Well I'm open to other work out ideas. Maybe your place and your bed?"

"Not going to happen." Nick smiles back at his dinner companion.

"Come on, Nick. How long are you going to lead a guy on?"

"As long as I like. If you don't like it, you're free to move on."

"You know I'm not going to do that. You intrigue me, Mr. Chavez."

"Well, then you're going to have to be patient and wait for good things to come."

Tyler laughs. "Good things to come. I like the sound of that."

Nick throws his napkin at him. "You're horrible."

Tyler catches the napkin. "You love it. Just admit it."

Kyle and Oliver walk into the restaurant. Kyle's eyes are instantly drawn to Nick and Tyler.

"We can go somewhere else, Kyle."

"No way, Ollie."

Kyle charges over to the table. "Well hello. Isn't this interesting." Kyle stares directly at Tyler.

Oliver follows Kyle. "Kyle. What are you doing?"

"How are you, Aaron?"

Nick looks puzzled. "You two know each other?"

Kyle looks to Nick. "I wish we didn't." Kyle looks back to Tyler. "We need to talk, Aaron. How about a walk outside?"

"Come on, Kyle. Nick and I are having a good time. Take your boyfriend and go away."

Oliver circles with his hands motioning to Tyler and Nick. "Kyle, I don't think this any of our business. Lets go eat."

"I have to agree, Kyle," says Nick. "How are you feeling? I was going to come by and check on you tomorrow."

Kyle will not remove his eyes from Tyler. "I'm fine, Nick. Thanks. You look good. Aaron, please join me outside. I only need a few minutes."

"Kyle, we shouldn't be rude to our guests."

"I'm not being rude. I'm trying to protect my friend."

"Kyle, Nick can take care of himself." Oliver is less than pleased with this distraction.

Nick secretly enjoys Kyle's reaction. Is this a bit of jealousy?

Oliver is simply puzzled by Kyle's actions. He knows he has nothing to be worried about, but is he really jealous that Nick is moving on.

Tyler stands. "Fine, Lewis. We can do it your way. Let's go."

"You both have some explaining to do," says Nick.

Oliver chimes in. "I agree with Nick for once. This is all too weird."

Tyler and Kyle head out.

Meanwhile, Adam sees Oliver from the restaurant entrance. He walks over to Oliver and Nick. "Hey, Oliver. I've been trying to reach you. Did you get my messages?"

"Hey, Adam." He grabs his cell from his pocket and sees the message light. "Sorry. I didn't hear it. What's going on?"

"Brody was arrested earlier. You're dad won't back down on this. He's moving forward with charges of assault against Brody for the bowling alley attack."

Nick cringes recalling the events.

"Crap. My dad is nothing but trouble." Oliver looks to Nick. "Can you tell, Kyle I needed to run?"

"Sure," replies Nick.

Oliver leaves, but heads to the restroom first.

Adam takes the seat across from Nick.

"So, you guys think Brody attacked me?"

"No, Nick. I've known Brody for a while. My boss simply doesn't like these hate crime type of cases."

"Great. So the real attacker is still out there."

"You should be careful just to be safe."

There is an awkward silence between the two men, buts it's obvious they have some history.

"So, you never called." Adam looks directly at Nick.

"Things got in the way, that's all."

"I see. What things?"

"Let's not do this, Adam. It was a while ago now. Haven't you moved on?"

"I guess, but I still think the respectful thing would have been for you to say look I'm simply not interested."

"That wasn't the case. The timing was bad."

"Really. Seems to me that we were dating and suddenly a skinny, dark haired boy named Kyle came into the picture and I was yesterday's news."

"I don't know what you want me to say."

Adam rolls his eyes. "I guess nothing, but I see you're not with Kyle now. I told you how that would play out, but no you wouldn't listen."

"I had real feelings for, Kyle."

"I don't doubt that, but he only had feelings for one other person."

"I know that now. Thanks."

"So who's the new guy?"

"His name is Tyler. We're simply getting to know one another."

"Well good. I hope that works out for you."

Nick stands. "Look. I'm sorry if I upset or hurt you. It wasn't my intention, but it's in the past, lets leave it."

"I think you owe me an apology."

"What?" Nick is shocked by Adam's request. "This is all part of dating. Sometimes you don't get a call back. It's been forever. Why is this still an issue with you?"

"I guess I expect more out of the people I date."

"We only had a few dates. What was it, maybe five or six times? This is crazy. We don't know each other and we never did. Get over it. I have."

"Whatever. Have a good night." Adam stands and walks away. He feels ridiculous for even starting the conversation. Nick's right. Why does it matter anymore?

"What the hell, Aaron."

"What's your problem, Kyle? I like the name Tyler better by the way. You know that."

"Nick is a good friend. I won't let ya' hurt him."

"Nick's a big boy and can take care of himself."

"Ya' need to back off. I know you. You're here one minute and gone the next. Ya' don't stick with things. Its not who ya' are."

"Kyle. I'm offended. Maybe I've changed."

"We know better than that."

"Are you jealous? I'm curious though. Are you jealous because you let Nick get away? Or is it that I got away? What about Oliver? I mean it was always about him with you."

"I don't want you hurtin', Nick. He's been through a lot."

"I know. You're the reason for a lot of what he's been through."

"My relationship with Nick is none of your business." Kyle gets more frustrated.

"I could care less about you, but Nick is important to me. I want to see where things go with him."

"Do ya' even hear yourself? I remember someone else was important to ya' back when."

Tyler smiles. He runs his hand across Kyle's cheek. "Those were good times, Kyle."

Kyle jerks his face away. "Get off me."

"Wow. I still see that hot fire inside of you. You're eyes always lit up like a firecracker from my touch. You always had a wild side, Mr. Lewis. Maybe that wild side wants to come out and play. I bet the officer's a little boring."

"Ya' need to shut your mouth."

"That's the spirit. Do you want to punch me, Kyle? Will that make you feel better? Remember what that led to in the past. Could be fun?"

"You're still a complete ass. How would Nick feel about ya' hitin' on me out here?"

"He'll understand. I'm a man. I have needs."

"Still the same Aaron. Still running from real feelings or emotional connections. The sad thing is ya' leave people hurt in the end."

"Look. I'm sorry if I hurt you. I'm not perfect. I tried to make that clear to you, just like I'm trying to be clear with Nick."

Kyle shakes his head. "Ya' can't keep hurtin' people and expect there to be no repercussions."

"I'm not hurting anyone, Kyle. That's the old Tyler."

Kyle becomes more frustrated. "It was always useless to have a conversation with you. Ya' don't ever hear what someone's sayin'. Stay clear of Nick."

"You can't stop me from seeing him."

"No. You're right, but I can make sure he knows the real truth about ya'."

"Leave it be, Kyle. I mean it."

"He's my friend. I can't."

"Don't ruin this for me?"

"I could care less about you. Nick is my concern. Stay away from him and things will be fine."

"God. You damn men and feelings. Why can't you just enjoy life for what it is?"

"That statement right there is why ya' need to stay away form Nick. You'll make him fall and fall hard and then we both know how that ends."

"You sound like a bitter jealous ex."

"I'm not jealous of anything you have to offer."

Tyler moves closer. "Really. Prove it."

"Back away, Aaron."

"I see that fire in your eyes again. Admit it, Lewis. We had fun together. Loads of fun."

"Followed by loads of pain."

"Let's test my theory."

"What game are ya' playin', now?" Kyle tries to step back, but before he knows it Tyler grabs him and has him in a lip lock.

"What the hell," says Nick who arrives on the scene and witnesses the lip lock.

"I couldn't have said it better, Nick," says a shocked Oliver.

Kyle jerks away, "Get off me, you creep."

Tyler smiles in anticipation of the drama that is soon going to unfold.
