Even though Callen tried to keep Marnie in bed longer; she was up, showered and dressed by five thirty. Needing coffee, she gave him a quick kiss as he headed into the bathroom to shower before getting the kids up for breakfast. She was surprised by the amount of traffic in the lobby at just shy of a quarter to six in the morning.
"There she is." One of the desk clerks said to the other.
"Who?" The second woman asked looking around.
"The woman who's getting married tonight. Rumor has it that her fiancé planned everything behind her back and that she knows nothing about it. She just thinks they're here for the weekend." The first said with a dreamy grin.
Marnie casually looked around at the many women milling about the lobby, thinking a little about the conversation she'd just overheard, she continued on to the small coffee shop. While she stood in line, she felt like she was being watched and nervously stepped from one foot to the other. Again, she casually looked around, but didn't see anything other than families preparing for a very long day in the parks. Finally she was standing at the register, gave the clerk her order and after what seemed like an eternity; walked away with two cups of coffee.
Slowly she walked through the lobby towards the elevator, but side-stepped to the desk. "Did I hear you mention that there's going to be a wedding here at the hotel tonight?" Marnie asked.
The clerks stopped and looked like a deer caught in the headlights. "Um, yes at six this evening."
Marnie smiled. "I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that. My fiancé and I are planning our wedding and I never thought about holding the ceremony here. I thought they only did ceremonies in the park."
"No, actually there are several venues spread out between the parks and the resort hotels. I can call one of the consultants for you if you'd like?" She offered.
Marnie shook her head. "We've got a full day planned and I'm sure the kids will be dragging us through the park at that time. If you see the couple, please give them my best." As she walked away, the girls burst into laughter. Marnie replayed the conversation in her mind as she rode the elevator to their floor and couldn't recall saying anything remotely funny.
Callen looked at the odd expression on Marnie's face when she walked back into the room. "What's wrong?" He asked taking one of the cups of coffee.
"Just something that happened in the lobby. There's a wedding here at the hotel tonight." She said smiling. "I never thought about getting married here, is that something you'd consider?"
Callen nearly spit out the coffee. "Damn that's hot." He croaked, his mind racing. "Who told you about the wedding tonight?"
Marnie gave Callie a pat on the head as she put her shoes on. "I overheard the girls at the desk talking about it. Apparently the bride has no clue, can you imagine that, a surprise wedding?" She laughed nervously knowing she had no clue about her own. Suddenly it dawned on her, what they could really be doing there. Excitement bubbled like a volcano.
Callie looked at Callen who was standing behind Marnie violently shaking his head. "That's pretty cool, but what if her fiancé got everything wrong. That would kind of suck, wouldn't it?"
Callen glared at Callie and rolled his eyes, playfully shaking a fist at her. Callie giggled and turned to look out the window. "Yeah, it would, but I'm sure he knows her well enough to plan things perfectly." Marnie said really thinking about why they were really there. It would kind of explain why the extra bags. For the time being, Marnie put it to the back of her mind and shifted her focus to the busy schedule they'd planned for themselves that day. a low voice.
As Callen walked past Callie to wake Alec, he poked her in the side. "Shut up." He sang in
By seven, they were standing outside Goody's Kitchen waiting for breakfast. Avery moaned and whined that her feet hurt. Marnie knew they were in for a very long day and suggested they go back to the room after lunch to rest. Callen hesitantly agreed as his phone rang. With a quick look at Marnie, he stepped away and answered the call.
"We're headed over, what room are you in?" Sam asked.
"Marnie wants to head back to the room after lunch." Callen huffed.
"Um, okay where are we going to put the dresses?"
"You may have to improvise, create a diversion or something."
Sam laughed as he thought about what they could possibly do to keep them from going back to the room before they were ready. "Like what?"
"Hell, I don't know something that would keep us from going back up to the room." He snapped. "Text me when you figure something out. What time are Nick and Annette picking up Rick, Angie and Samantha?"
"Nick and Annette are leaving for the airport right now. Their flight lands at eleven."
Marnie waved at Callen as the doors opened, he waved them on and finished up the conversation. "We're having breakfast now, then we're going in the park and heading right over to the Star Wars Experience and having lunch in New Orleans Square. Text me." He said and hung up.
"Who was that?" Marnie asked as Callen rushed over to the table.
"It was Sam, he had me hide Michelle's Valentine's present at the house and needed to know where I'd put it." He said without thinking.
Marnie smiled. "That's sweet, what did he get her?"
His eyes went wide as he looked at Callie. "You know, I um, don't know. It was already wrapped when he gave it to me."
Marnie shrugged and watched Avery bounce in her chair as Elsa and Ana walked in, with the rest of the princess' in tow. Callen sat back and enjoyed the excitement and food, trying not to worry about how they were going to keep Marnie out of the room until it was time for her to get dressed. At eight thirty, Callen was paying the bill and the kids were chomping at the bit to get into the park and over to Tomorrowland.
Ignoring everything but the Jedi Training Academy and Star Tours, they spend nearly three house watching the show or standing in line waiting on a ride. Avery was getting crabby and Callen could tell Marnie was losing steam. He'd wanted to be well on their way to New Orleans Square for lunch by now so he suggested a train right around to the other side of the park. It was nice and relaxing, exactly what they all needed. The five sat and talk or just look out at the park and the surrounding area. As the train pulled into the station at New Orleans Square, the Jazz Music floated through the air.
Marnie beamed as they walked through the streets looking for the Café Orleans where they'd agreed to eat. Callen pulled Marnie to a little shop called Cristal d'Orlean and suggested they look for toasting flutes. Without a second thought, the five were in one shop after another. L'Ornement Magique and La Boutique de Noel, there they picked an ornament for each of them to commemorate the occasion. La Mascarade d'Orleans, where Callen bought Marnie a set of beautiful sapphire and diamond earrings, that would eventually be her something blue. Callie and Avery got custom made parasols from the Parasol Cart, which they couldn't wait to show off to Abby. Alec begged for a pirate hat just like Jack Sparrow's from Pirates of The Carribean, which Callen got at Pieces of Eight. Finally, they stopped at Royal Street Sweets for beignets, completely forgetting about Café Orleans.
Callen had completely lost track of time and when he checked his phone again it was almost two. Sam had texted and told him that he had everything covered. Since the two had discussed being at New Orleans Square for lunch, he felt no need to text back. As they walked towards the line for the Haunted Mansion, three uniformed men walked up to them.
"I'm sorry, you're going to have to come with us." A tall man with thick black hair and sunglasses said sternly.
Marnie looked at Callen and grabbed Avery's hand as the three closed in and reached for Marnie's arm. "Don't touch me." She growled and pulled away.
"Don't cause a scene Marn." Callen whispered as they were led away from the line, with everyone around them watching.
"What is this about?" Marnie asked when they walked into the employee area behind the gates.
Without another word, they led them through a series of underground corridors to an office area. Callen pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Sam. 'Park Security, diversion?'
Almost immediately Sam responded. "Yes. Michelle will meet you to take the girls upstairs, I'll meet you and Alec so you can get showered and changed."
As Callen looked up from his phone, Marnie was shown to a room and closed in. The only security officer that spoke to them smiled at Callen and offered his hand. "Congratulations, I hope she isn't too mad at you when it's all said and done."
A door at the end of the corridor opened, Michelle and Sam appeared and quickly walked up to them. "Come on girls, we've got to get you upstairs, showered, hair done and in your dresses." Michelle whispered.
Marnie spun around and kicked the door hard before she pounded on it, screaming for Callen and the kids. Her mind was in a million directions as she shouted at the top of her lungs to be let out. A loud, stern voice called through the door telling her to get away from the door and sit down. Instead of complying, Marnie continued to pound and kick at the door. She stopped when the door latch popped and stepped back just before it flew open.
"I said sit down." He snarled, stomping into the room.
Marnie stepped back, but didn't sit. In fact, she kicked the folding chair aside and jumped when it hit the wall with a loud crash. "I'm not sitting until you tell me what's going on."
In one quick step, he towered a good foot over her, staring her down. "Sit, Now." He ordered.
Slowly Marnie nodded and reached for the chair. Once she was seated at the table, the uniformed man walked out with a smile, slamming the door behind him. It wasn't often he heard from his old friend Sam Hanna, and when he called asking for help, he couldn't resist. Especially given the situation. A few minutes later, another man walked up the corridor. Quickly he stood straight and winked as him before he walked into the room with a file and plastic evidence bag with a white box inside. He fastidiously laid the file and bag on the table and took a seat across from her. Marnie eyed him cautiously.
He cleared his throat and adjusted his dark blue blazer with a Disney Security patch before he spoke. "Mrs. Wilson, do you know why you've been brought in?"
She almost laughed and threw her arms in the air, letting tem slam hard on the table. "I have no clue, we've been enjoying the day in the park. Have we done something wrong?"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of gloves, which he put on and opened the bag. "We found this in with your purchases, however there was no receipt and La Mascarade d'Orleans has no record of a transaction for this item."
Marnie looked at the earrings. "We did buy those and I think my fiancé may have put the receipt in his wallet."
He stopped and looked at her suspiciously trying not to crack a smile. "Likely story, Mrs. Wilson."
"I'm serious, he bought me the earrings for Valentine's Day." She insisted.
"I can see we aren't getting anywhere here." He said as he closed the file and dropped the earring box in the bag. He stood and walked out of the room.
Marnie just sat there stunned. She was positive Callen had gotten a receipt and in fact, they could call the bank to get the transaction information. Marnie was so deep in thought that she didn't hear the door open and didn't realize she wasn't alone until a woman snapped her fingers in her face.
"Mrs. Wilson, are you alright?" She asked with a warm smile.
"No, there's been some kind of mistake. My fiancé bought those earrings, he put them on his bank card." She said adamantly. "I want to see my fiancé and my children."
"I'm sorry, I can't allow that at the moment." The woman said standing tall, crossing her arms over her grey blazer.
"Why not?" She asked and sat back indignantly, crossing her arms over her chest too. "I refuse to say another word until I see them. Call the police if you have to and have me arrested."
The woman's blue eyes went wide. "Wait, this isn't what you think." She said and backed out of the room.
Marnie realized that she'd left the door open and sat for a minute contemplating whether to walk to the door or stay seated. She heard the click of the woman's heels on the tile floor and another door open, then close.
"Mr. Callen, she's getting really upset, talking about calling the police. I think you need to talk to her." She said walking up to Callen as Sam worked to tie the bow tie.
Sam stood straight and tweaked the tie one last time. "I'll go G, its bad luck to see the bride before the wedding."
"Ha funny, I've been with her all day." Callen said nervously, knowing Marnie had to be fit to be tied over all of this.
Before he could say another word, Sam and the wedding coordinator were practically running out of the room. Marnie stood at the door waiting for someone to appear. Just as she stepped back towards the table, a door opened. She walked back to the door, timidly peeked out and saw Sam smiling back at her.
"Sam, what are you doing here? Why are you wearing a tux?" She asked confused, stepping into the corridor.
Gently, Sam placed his hands on Marnie's shoulders as he smiled down at her. "Marnie, you're getting married today."
Her face went slack and her mind went blank. "What are you talking about?"
"You're getting married in…" He said looking at his watch. "About three hours."
She let out a sharp breath. "How?" She asked looking from Sam to the coordinator.
"Mrs. Wilson, I think we need to get you upstairs and ready." She smiled, placing her Disney Wedding Coordinator name tag on.
Suddenly tears rolled down Marnie's face. "Are you serious, we're getting married today? They were talking about me?"
"Yes, you are." Sam told her as he enclosed her in a hug. "G's arranged everything, every last detail."
Marnie looked at the coordinator. "Truly this should be one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever had the pleasure of working on. Your fiancé thought of absolutely everything. All I did was place the orders."
"Go, get ready." Sam said releasing and pushing Marnie towards the door.
As she took her first step, she turned to Sam. "Tell him I love him and I'll see him at the altar."
Sam nodded with a cheesy grin and disappeared.
