Emerald watched with grim determination as the first group fought Latune Subbota and a squadron of Paladins. If anything was an indication of the truth of matters, those two factors were heavy indications that the Army of Union had been the group that took Mercury and stole those Paladins back then.

And of their affiliation with Wayle Tyran.

She shuddered as she thought of that monster of a Human, with powers so far beyond her understanding it would be easier to pretend it was all dreams and fabrications.

And yet it was all too real.

She signalled for the second wave to move. They thought they were the main assault, when in all actuality they were also but a distraction.

All indication was that Wayle Tyran was at Beacon, but even so the Army of Union most likely contained former members of the White Fang. Cinder had had no doubt that they would live up to their name if push came to shove.

This was quickly proven true as the second group infiltrated the compound, only to meet heavy resistance from several armed hostiles.

She sighed as she considered how even these weren't expected to get out alive.

The grudges from Menagerie may have run deep, but even they would run out eventually.

She started making her way over towards the compound as well, making sure to avoid the various engagements.

She would find Mercury, find whatever else she could and get out. Simple.

And once she was out, any one still alive would be allowed to retreat.

Damn but this plan was cold.

Okay, where was he?! This was not good for her. She had already searched most of the main building, yet she had not seen even a hint of something like a holding cell.

She paused slightly as she looked at an open door just ahead. It was unlikely considering the placement of that room, but there might be something else there.

Hopefully she would be able to find a floor plan or something. How could they have nothing like that around?

It was almost as if they knew she would get this far and simply removed them all.

She peeked into the room, and almost did a double take as she saw a tuft of soft pink hair. There was still someone here?

She looked in again.

It was a Faunus girl with deer horns, although she knew for certain it wasn't 'Deerie'. That person didn't have hair that colour after all.

No, this was someone else, someone she had seen a few times as well.

Couldn't quite remember the name, it wasn't anyone all too important.

Nor a combatant.

And all alone to boot.

She rounded the door, aiming both her pistols at the poor girl.

The pink-haired Faunus looked up, no indication of surprise or worry.

"Emerald Sustrai, what a surprise." Was all she said, still with no hint of any surprise.

"Where is Mercury?" The thief said through gritted teeth. She had no time for being coy.

"Mercury? Why would I know where your lover is?" Her reply had a hint of humour, of taunting in it.

"Don't play dumb! I know he's somewhere around here." She shouted angrily, threateningly pointing the barrels of her weapon at the person before her.

"Resorting to threats? I didn't take you for a thug?" A wry smile.

This bitch! She would seriously shoot her!

She took a step forward, her weapons aimed at the offending girl.

No real reaction. Her angered mind shouted at her that something was wrong.

No one was this calm while threatened at gun-point. Not unless…

She immediately recoiled, spinning around to face behind her…

There was nothing there, but her instincts blared, just in time for her to sense a person behind her.

But it was too late. Even as she moved to throw herself away she felt a hard impact to the back of her head, causing her vision to blacken as she collapsed…

Damn… it…

Ouka smiled. "Thank you Felis. Saved me quite a bit of trouble there." She said to the newcomer, standing between her and the now incapacitated intruder.

The newcomer was a tall, lanky female cat Faunus with silvery hair kept in a ponytail normally hidden by a hood.

Her piercing eyes were a deep amber colour, and a pair of cat ears poked up from the top of her head, the same colour as her hair.

Her physique was quite straight, with only slight curves at the chest and hip. Not voluptuous but not flat either, she was unmistakably female.

Currently she was clad in the dark green and blue uniform that she had adopted after the formation of the Army of Union.

She was Felis Luna, head of the Army of Union's covert ops squad, and one of the few people that could match her Master in the art of disappearing.

Which said a lot, considering her Master literally bent the shadows themselves to hide his form allowing him to disappear anywhere he so pleased.

Basically, that woman could match a person using arcane methods of disappearing with pure skill.

Ouka was just really glad that she was on their side, because even she found it difficult to keep track of her, even at the best of times.

Although she had heard rumours of her Master actually having managed to locate her several times, allowing him to converse with her directly, when others either had to call her scroll or go through her squad.

"It was nothing." She said curtly. "You were in danger, so I protected you."

The administratively minded Sith apprentice smiled awkwardly.

"I didn't really need help you know. I could have managed just fine."

"Really? I was under the impression that your combat skills are lacking." A teasing smirk.

Ouka pouted slightly. Just because her Master saw more fit to focus on other aspects didn't mean she was defenceless.

Although… A trained Huntress might be a bit too much…

Her reaction incited a small chuckle from the other party.

"Fine. It was most appreciated." She gave in, allowing herself to laugh slightly.

"Don't mention it. I'm sure you'd have been fine." The stealthy woman smiled as she left the room, disappearing into some space or another in the roof.

Ouka leaned back in her seat.

Say what she wanted, but that had been nerve-wracking. She was somewhat certain she could have dodged the bullets, but that didn't change the fear of getting shot, the fear of dying.

Even if she had known someone had been watching over her.

There was no way they would have let Emerald in without any kind of surveillance after all.

Latune smirked as she tripped up an attacker, causing him to crash into two of his allies even as she pirouetted out of the way of a sword, her Lightsaber carving a deadly arc that slew the fool.

She had to say, she was getting a bit tired, but in exchange all around her the ground was littered with fallen assailants, some dead, some alive.

She jumped high into the sky, flipped, and crashed down upon a poor Faunus girl, knocking her out immediately.

One last person rose slowly, shakily aiming a gun at her.

She smirked wickedly and gestured with her hand, causing the foolish sod to lift up, even as a sharp pain caused her to drop the gun.

She walked up slowly, not at all troubled by the bodies she had to pass.

"Come now. Did you really come here expecting to succeed? Did you actually think you weren't sent here to die?" She said cruelly.

The eyes of her captive widened.

Maybe she did understand.

The Sith apprentice didn't give her a chance to affirm this as she slammed her into the ground painfully.

She turned around and marched off, checking on the other groups with her senses all the while indicating for the Paladin pilots to take care of her mess.

Her help wouldn't really be needed, but she still decided to interfere, dashing off towards the nearest fight.

Wayle stretched contently as he left the training field, while a battered team RWBY and JNPR followed.

Yang was in the worst shape, having been the primary subject for his training pass, but after a while he had decided to let the others have some training as well and… well…

He had simply run them into the ground, doing his absolute best to make them better fighters.

Only really Blake and Pyrrha had gotten away relatively well off, and only because there was little to improve on them, so he had let them off lighter than the others.

Nora was also still energetic, although the Sith seriously doubted it was even possible to tire her out. But she was still battered and bruised from the short session they had had.

He frowned though as he felt the scroll vibrate slightly, indicating it received a message of some kind.

Now what? What could possibly-

Oh. The Army of Union had been attacked by the White Fang.

He would need to make sure he was secure before he read the report.

A soft sigh escaped his lips.

"What's wrong Wayle?" Blake's voice floated in to him from slightly behind him.

"Nothing at all Blake. Just some new things begging my attention." He smiled. It really wasn't anything.

He hoped.

Also, what was with him getting blindsided by people lately?

It still didn't make any sense to him.

Had something changed?

If so, what?

Maybe he would simply need to revise his basics again, since it didn't seem to be much of a problem once he concentrated.

The question now was, how would he read the report without anyone being able to look at it.

While it didn't seem terribly urgent, he wouldn't leave it for later either. There was no telling what might have happened that they would need help with.

He turned to look at the others, still walking slightly behind them, Yang shuffling along on her own power, a testament to her stubbornness.

Jaune being helped along by a worried Pyrrha. Wayle still wondered if they would actually get together soon.

Nora was basically carrying Ren, although he had at least managed to stop her from carrying him in a bridal carry. Instead he simply hung over her shoulder, making a somewhat odd image seeing as Nora was quite a bit shorter.

Why weren't those two an item? They fit so well together it was nothing short of a miracle that they still insisted they weren't 'together, together'.

That way of putting it still brought Wayle amusement.

Next to them Ruby and Weiss were using each other as support, leaning heavily together as they walked.

One could be forgiven for thinking they were nothing more than friends.

At least unless they saw the way the young rose glanced at the snow princess.

Let it just be said that it was not the Schnee heiress that initiated their bedroom antics.

And let it be said that they were usually left alone for those times.

Yes, these were the people that he had become fond of, that he would spend time with.

But it was the person now walking beside him that he held dearest.

And those who dared harm her would quickly learn how terrifying the Dark Side was, the true depths of his darkness…

He just hoped he didn't break anyone utterly in the process…

Author's notes: Sometimes I wonder if people read this. Because sometimes it seems what I say here is utterly and completely disregarded. And why do I only have one review on the last chapter? Oh well, it's fine I suppose, although so few reviews tend to make it harder to write the next one. Most certainly not for lack of readers I would think.

Say what you think of the chapter, the story, characters and whatever else. Give suggestions or point out mistakes and faults. I don't care which, just that it's something.

I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
