Part VIII: Earth

The Story is moving slow, but I'm trying to update as often as possible. And just in case confusion was caused in the last few weeks, I replaced the notice on Chapter 53 with an actual chapter, and this is Part VIII, not Part VII

Also enjoy and read Jokermask18 and SilverOmega01's stories they are very intresting and unique and worth it.

Sky quickly traveled to Omashu, what would be the future capital of the Omashu Empire which would some day become the Earth Kingdom. Word had spread of his exploits, and it did not take long for him to find an Earthbending teacher.

"I am called Brock" A very tall and muscular earthbender told him. "I will be your Earthbending teacher, but we must pick a safer place to train, for if Romik's elite guards find us, it would be a fate worse than death"

"Worse than death?" Sky asked. "How?"

"There are things your better off not knowing kid, the prophecies say you will once day face off against Romik himself, while I don't recommend it I will not go against the Ancients" Brock told him. "If you are to learn Earthbending, I will teach you, now follow me".

Brock led Sky to an abandoned home, inside was nothing but a pile of rubble, dishes, furniture, and some shattered frames containing slightly tattered portraits some of an earthbending couples, some of a cave, and some of some very strange looking nomads, Sky did not have time to look at the paintings however, as Brock beckoned him to the back room of the small home.

"There's nothing here, Brock" Sky told him. "Just a pile of rubble and some old paintings"

"That's what they want you to think" Brock Smiled, he stopped his foot on the ground opening a trap door that had easily blended in with the ground, and a flight of stairs leading downward. "Your Eyes may deceive you, but as an Earthbender your senses will not. Follow me". It was then, for the first time, that Sky realized that Brock was blind.

"How are you...?" Sky started.

"Good at Earthbending?" Brock finished for him. "The BadgerMoles never needed sight to Earthbend, and I don't either. I only need myself, Earthbending enhances my other senses, and my strength. Something you must learn if you are to become a master of this element". They continued downstairs and ended up in a Cave.

"My grandma practically lived in this cave when she was young, after my grandfather died, she built this house over the cave and she would always come down here to remember him. This is where my mother learned how to Earthbend, and where I learned how to Earthbend, this house, this cave, it means everything to my family, and it is honored with the chosen one's precense. Shall we begin?"

"Of Course" Sky nodded, it didn't take him too much time to learn waterbending, how hard could Earthbending be?

Brock formed a large boulder from the ground, it easily towered over the both of them, but it was small compared to the space inside the cave. "Move it" he ordered.

"But it's so big" Sky told him. "Can't we start with a smaller rock, I don't really have any previous experience with..."

"MOVE IT!"

Sky attempted to move it various time, thrusting his arms into the air to no avail, for the rock would not move.

"No, no, no, your doing it all wrong" Brock told him. "Stop thinking like an airbender, this rock never yielded to the air around it before, and it won't do it again, you have to use brute force. You have to punch the rock, use your fists, use your muscles, use your strength and give it everything you've got".

Sky run towards the Rock and punched it very hard, but his fist just ended up bouncing off the huge boulder's surface, he fell to the ground holding his hand which was now red and throbbing, screaming in pain.

"I can tell this is going to take a long time" Brock complained.

And so it did, for many hours every night for two years Brock and Sky trained and Sky improved very slowly, being an airbender he was alien to the idea of brute strength and force and it took many long months for his mind to mold to the idea. Eventually Sky would prove to be a competent Earthbender, but Brock still had one more task for him.

"And now it is time for your Final Lesson" Brock told him. "To see if you are truly the master of Earthbending you are meant to be, if you pass this test you will truly be a master of this element"

"Your training's paid off, Brock" Sky smiled, cracking his knuckles. "Whatever you're going to throw at me, I've got it covered". Before Brock could respond, they heard the sound of Earthbending from above them, somebody had found the secret entrance to Brock's cave.

"This isn't good" The blind earthbender said. "They weren't supposed to find the cave, now we have to battle our way out of this"

"I've been waiting to show Romik's elite what I've got" Sky told his teacher. "Let's do this". Before either of them could do anything however, four muscular, menacing looking guards earthbended their way into the room.

"I'm glad you wish to battle, chosen one" the strongest of them said. "I am Bloodclaw, and it will be an honor to break your bones and crush your soul"

"I'm not afraid of you" Sky told him. "And neither is Brock"

"Him?" Bloodclaw asked. "He is hardly suited to battle me, he's blind for the ancients sak...". He was tripped into the ground by the stomp of Brock's foot. "Grr...it would appear that I have underestimated the two of you...no matter, I will destroy you and this cave. Say goodbye to your precious prophecy, chosen one". He conjured a ball of fire and earth and threw it at the two, aiming for the kill.

Sky splashed the boulder with water, and earthbended it to the side. "Bending more than one element? Two can play at that game" he turned to Brock. "Get out of here, Brock. I can handle this".

Brock created a massive earth wall and shook his head. "No, I'm not leaving with you. Let's get to the surface, our odds are better up there". Together they rose on a platform to the surface and waiting for the arrival of the four elite guards and their leader.

Their enemies quickly followed, and the battle began to ensue on the ground. Bloodclaw and Sky engaged in a seemingly endless array of Earth, water and air, fire would sometimes get involved but quickly overcome by Sky's particularly powerful waterbending. Nearby, the other four guards were no match for Brock, who quickly threw them out of the city in a catapult made entirely of rock.

"It's true what they say" Brock joked. "Pig-Dogs really do fly". Joining Sky in the battle against Bloodclaw, even the two together seemed to be no match for the powerful assassin.

"I am the most powerful of all of Romik's elite" Bloodclaw grinned. "You cannot hope to defeat me, you are your city will fall" he lifted his arms in the air creating an air of purple energy. "Guards to me, do not let the city come under the control of the chosen one and his blind brat".

Sky and Brock stood shocked, behind Bloodclaw was a small army of at the very least 200 guards, and with Bloodclaw as their general, they clearly did not stand a chance. No matter, they had to try. And try they would.

"How are we going to defeat all these guys?" Sky asked.

"I have an idea" Brock told him. "The cave underneath this city made's the ground here unstable. Not so unstable that the entire city is going to fall underground, but that eventually a large portion of the street will, if we work together we can provoke that unstability and trap all of them in the cave"

"Well what are we waiting for" Sky grinned. "Let's get to it".

The two friends stopped and allowed Bloodclaw's full force to come at them, ready to strike at just the right moment.

"That's it" Bloodclaw smiled. "Give it up and let death take you, for you fail to comprehend the full power of the Romik Empir...". Suddenly the Earth around the entire city cracked and all but few of Bloodclaw's guards were swallowed by the ground, the few that were not fled, and Bloodclaw himself was the last to sink through the ground.

"Know and fear my name, villan" Brock told him. "For am sure you will live and perhaps think one day of returning...don't. I will be ready for you, I will have an army of my own. You will not survive a 2nd battle in MY city, do you understand"

"YOUR city?" Bloodclaw spat. "How is this YOUR city, child. This city has and always will be property of the Romik Empire and..."

"Silence, pig-dog!" Brock spat back at him. "You are wrong, this city was once the grand city of Omashu, led by it's emperor, Oma and her family, and it is again. I am Brock Bei Fong, the rightful ruler of Omashu and the First Earth King of the Omashu Empire. Today is the beginning of a new age, and the beginning of the end for the Romik Empire, tell THAT to your boss". Bloodclaw did not have time to respond as the earth swallowed him as well and close around him.

The two victorious friends looked around at the damage that had been caused to Omashu.

"What are you going to do now?" Sky asked.

"Well my city is practically destroyed and I need to built a new empire of peace from scratch, but don't worry about me, I've got plans on what to do with all these new...paths in my city" Brock told him. "You on the other hand need to go, you still have one more element to learn, and rest assured Romik will try to make sure you never do. Be ready for him, good luck, my friend"

"To you as well" Sky smiled, as he left Omashu and continued his journey.
