Ch. 55: Shall We Dance?

Thirty minutes before the dance started, there was a knock on the front door of the small house. Francis went to it and opened it revealing Alfred in a black tuxedo. He had on a pink undershirt and a red tie, matching Maddie's unintentionally (or so they thought anyway).

"My, my. Don't you look nice. Madeline is upstairs with Feliks. I'll go get her. You come inside and make yourself comfortable in the living room," Francis said smiling. Alfred nodded and went to the living room.

He hesitated when he saw hardly anything in it. All the pictures were taken down and there seemed to be boxes littering everything. The only furniture in the room was a TV on a small table, the couch, chair, and coffee table. There were no stands by the couch like there had been. There weren't any plants hanging on the ceiling or by the kitchen.

The room looked empty. Like someone was moving.

But Alfred didn't have time to dilly daddle about that for Maddie and Feliks walked down the stairs into the living room. He smiled and blushed when he saw her glorious pink dress.

"Now, how did we manage to dress in the same color scheme?" Maddie asked also blushing.

"Ah, that would be because of me and Toris!" Feliks said raising his hand slightly.

"Really? That's so cool!" Alfred said wrapping an arm around Maddie and kissing her forehead. "You look beautiful."

"And you look handsome," she responded.

"Hey! Get your hands off my daughter, Mr. Jones!" Francis's voice rang through the room. The tall blond had a camera in his hands where he was standing by the entrance into the room. "Wait until I get a picture of her first," he finished winking. Alfred stepped away from Maddie and Francis snapped a portrait of her. "Glamorous," he said.

Alfred was by her side in an instant.

"Now, I must go over the rules if you'll be taking my daughter dancing," Francis began.

"Papa, you said you wouldn't embarrass me," Maddie protested.

"Hush. I could always get the baby pictures out. You were so sweet and innocent."

"Wonder what happened," Feliks teased.

Maddie blushed. "Papa! No, please?"

"I always did wonder how you looked as baby," Alfred rubbed his chin in thought.

"Not you too!"

"Maybe when you get back. I'll look for them in the boxes," Francis said.

"Deal! Anyway, we better get going 'cuz the dance starts soon," Alfred said.

"Don't you dare hurt my daughter Mr. Jones. I will find those guns and point them at you if you do," Francis threatened.

Alfred paled. "Yessir!" he said. "I will make sure your daughter will have fun and stay safe tonight."

"Thank you. You may leave now. After a picture."

"Papa!"

"Now, now, Maddie. Smile!" Francis took a picture of Maddie and Alfred standing side by side smiling. "Feliks you get in there too." Feliks smiled and jumped in between them, all smiling brightly when the picture snapped. "Now get out of here before I take my daughter back!"

The three teens laughed and walked out of the house and drove to the school.

When they arrived at the dance, there were numerous amounts of people outside, waiting to get in. The three got in line beside Toris and waited five minutes before entry was allowed for them. They walked into the gym for that's where the dance was being held.

The theme was obviously spring colors because it was 'Light Up the World'. Everything had a cheery touch to it, setting off a calm and soft atmosphere. Streamers were thrown in every which direction on the tables, which were loaded with tons of snacks from chip to pretzels to carrots. There was red punch also with cups near it. Spring flowers were resting on the tables that were set up. Pop music was playing and numerous students and teachers were dancing along to it on the makeshift dance floor.

"Wow..." Maddie said looking around.

"I'll say. This is actually the first school dance I've been to," Alfred admits. "I never really cared for the other ones."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I didn't like anyone at the time they were being hosted and no one asked me to go, so I didn't."

"Oh."

"Yeah. Anyway, let's get something to eat."

"Alright." They walked to a food table and got a couple drinks and a plate of strawberries and mini chocolate bars. They then walked to an empty table and sat down, enjoying the music and everyone around them.

The song ended. "Hello everyone! I'm your DJ, Antonio, but you can call me Toni! I'm open for requests so feel free to ask away! This is a request, so grab a partner and dance." He began playing I Don't Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith and people started to group up in friendship circles and with partners.

Alfred and Maddie stayed seated, not wanting to dance (and maybe one or both of them can't) and watched everyone have fun.

"Hey Maddie?" Alfred asked.

"Yes, Alfred?"

"You said you were born in July right?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Oh, I'm just wondering," he said, his hand in his pocket.

"Okay," she said brushing it off. She'll worry about it later. She just needed to stay in the present with her lovely boy friend she'll have to leave behind.

Heyo! Sorry if it ended abruptly. I thought this would be a great place to stop, especially with what I'm planning next chapter. Anyway, so sweet, ain't it? I don't know. You tell me! And is Alfred suspecting something? *cue dramatic gasp* Before Maddie told him? Will he find out? Or won't he? Only time will tell, my fellow gummy bears. Anywho, we hope you liked the chapter and until next time~! ~Love-Peace-Anime
