Chapter 55
Final Battle
Thorin's POV
I looked at Sonya, knowing she would want to fight.
"Sonya I want you to stay here!"
"Thorin…" she began.
"NO! Do not argue with me! I will not have you at risk of getting hurt!"
She looked at me for a second before crashing her lips to mine. I grabbed her and kissed her with more force then I ever had. When she pulled back she put her hand on the side of my face.
"Don't let them hurt you! And you come back here in one piece." she ordered.
"I will! I promise!"
With one last kiss she ran off into the mountain.
Sonya's POV
Even though Thorin would not let me fight on the front lines…..I could still use my powers to help as best I could. I climbed to as high up onto the mountain as I could and looked over the battlefield. Orcs and goblins had come to fight, but I saw Thranduil was helping as well. I smiled at that and then saw someone I hoped to never see again. Azog the Defiler. And he was going straight for Thorin.
"THORIN!" I screamed.
My fear combined with my rage and the ground began to shake.
Thorin's POV
I heard her cry and then the ground began to shake. I saw Azog charging towards me and then the snow on the ground swirled up around him. My eyes widened and the snow turned to icicles and began to shove themselves into Azog's body. I ran forward and drove my sword into his black heart. Azog the Defiler was dead, this time forever.
Sonya's POV
The battle was not over. Azog was dead but there were still many orcs, goblins and wargs. Thorin and the others continued to fight. I could only watch in fear.
When it was finally over I ran out to Thorin. I crashed into his arms and refused to let him go.
"My beauty." he whispered.
I laughed.
"My beast prince."
He chuckled and kissed my cheek and then my lips.
"We have won this battle. We have our home and Matthew will live in a fine kingdom and he will be a prince of dwarves and men."
I smiled and nodded. Then Thranduil came forward and I glared.
"Take one more step towards my husband and I swear I'll remove your head from your body." I snarled.
"Wait Sonya."
Legolas came forward and I looked at him.
"I believe you have something to say….father."
I looked at Thranduil and put my hands on Thorin's shoulders.
"I owe you and Thorin Oakenshield an apology. I was wrong to keep you in my dungeons, I was wrong to overlook what Tauriel did to you and I was wrong still to force you to have to stay in that cell. I allowed my greed and desire for the treasure in Erebor to blind me. Forgive me."
I stepped closer.
"Look into my eyes."
He did as I asked. I knew he was telling the truth.
"I forgive you."
His eyes widened in surprise and I smiled a little.
"There is one thing you can do for me."
"You have but to name it."
"Back in New York…..I have an aunt. She's an alcoholic, drug addict and she's a real mess. I've heard that the elves have great healing skills….if I were to bring her here…."
Thranduil smiled.
"I would see to it that she was given the best care we have."
I smiled and bowed.
"I will return for her tonight. So if you would remain close to Erebor until tomorrow, I'll bring her back and you can take her back to Mirkwood."
He nodded and I turned to Thorin.
"I have to go alone."
"The last time we were there you were almost killed. Now that you carry Matthew I do not like you going there alone."
I smiled and hugged him.
"I know, but I move faster on my own and I know where to go and find her."
He sighed and then kissed me and nodded.
"Very well."
I smiled and kissed him again.
