Author's Note: Currently re-reading this arc to try and figure out Kasumi's role. For now, she's like Fran's babysitter. It's kinda cute actually XD
On a side note, if any of you are familiar with Hetalia, I have a short story up right now, but yeah. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do no own Katekyo Hitman Reborn
I glance at Mukuro as we head towards Sawada's home. "What is it, my dear Kasumi?" Mukuro asks.
I shake my head. "Are you sure it was a good idea to leave Fran by himself?" I reply.
"Worried about him?"
"Not really, but…" I shake my head again and sigh. "He's probably stirring up trouble as we speak."
"Bonjour, blockheads," M.M. greets as we finally find Team Reborn's three central members- Sawada and the Rain and Storm Guardians.
"Ahh! It's Kokuyo's M.M., Joshima, Ken, and Kakimoto, Chikusa!" Sawada exclaims.
I sigh. "Thanks."
Sawada smiles sheepishly. "G-Good morning, Sato-san."
I nod.
"What are you guys doing here? Isn't it outside of your school district?"
"Idiots," M.M. replies.
Mukuro walks next to me and smirks. "We came to give you our declaration of war."
Sawada and Gokudera gasp. "Mukuro! You…" Sawada pauses. "Eh? Declaration of war?"
"Do you know what I swore to do no matter what the cost when I got out of Vendicare Prison?" Mukuro asks. "Sawada, Tsunayoshi… I will defeat you."
"What?!" Sawada exclaims.
Of course, the Storm Guardian flares into anger immediately. "I've been wanting to say this to you for a while now! Is that how a guardian of the Tenth's should be acting towards him?!"
"Kufufufu… Guardian?" As Mukuro laughs, he looks pretty amused. It's kind of nice seeing him so happy. "You think a joke like that is going to stand in the way of my will?"
"He doesn't seem to have that kind of affiliation at all," the Rain Guardian comments.
"That bastard!" the Storm Guardain grumbles.
"W-Wait, Mukuro!" Sawada exclaims. "I don't have any desire to fight with you anymore! I don't want to fight!" I think that he's misunderstanding the situation right now.
"Kufufu, I thought that might be the case," Mukuro replies. "Of course, that would be if this were just a normal fight. But if you had no choice but to fight for Reborn's sake, then what would you do?"
Sawada finally seems to catch on. Reborn says, "I sense the presence of another Arcobaleno nearby. Mukuro and his crew were most likely approached as well."
Verde replies, "Precisely," as he steps out from behind the bush. "I brought Rokudo, Mukuro here."
"Ah! He's the Arcobaleno… Verde!" Sawada exclaims. "What?! Mukuro, you're going to be the Arcobaleno Verde's representative?!"
Mukuro replies, "That's right. Dr. Hakase… His his head's a bit off, and he's a pervert scientist."
"And I think that Mukuro is an impertinent weirdo full of bad habits… He's constantly exceeding my expectations," Verde says. I've come to notice it recently that they have an extremely strange relationship. I really don't understand how it functions, but I suppose that in simplest terms, they respect each other at the very least.
"I-It sounds like all they're doing is insulting each other. Are they gonna be okay…?" Sawada asks. I shrug.
Reborn comments, "You two egotistical, self-centered maniacs fit well together."
"Dr. Verde may be a little baby without a cute hair on his body, but we have our reasons," Mukuro replies. "I will defeat Sawada, Tsunayoshi. I want to destroy the Vongola Family. Dr. Verde can't stand the sight of Reborn. He wants to utterly crush him. If we become partners, both of us can achieve our goals."
"I want to shudder just at the thought of being near Mukuro, but I don't have any better option than to deal with it and team up with him," Verde says. "Best you hear it from me first."
"Cut the crap! If you don't wanna do it, then don't do it!" M.M. exclaims angrily. She reminds me of the Storm Guardian. "What an annoying little runt!"
"Though it's true… With Verde's intellect and Mukuro's charisma, I can't even begin to image how powerful they'd be," Reborn says.
"Ehh?!" Sawada exclaims.
Verde starts, "Anyways, it would seem that we…"
"Will be your opponents," Mukuro finishes. "Well then…" Mukuro turns around abruptly. "We're done here."
"Yeah," Verde agrees.
"Wait, Mukuro!" Sawada exclaims, "What about Chrome?!"
"You can do whatever the hell you want with her, I couldn't care less!" M.M. says haughtily. She's really been big headed recently. Probably because she thinks that Mukuro got rid of Chrome in favor of her.
"Why don't you go ahead and take care of her? I detest the current Chrome," Mukuro says. I glance at him.
"What are you saying?! But Chrome has come this far believing in you…" Sawada protests.
"Please, take good care of her," Mukuro says. It almost sounds earnest to me.
Verde warns, "You don't have time to be worrying about other people, Sawada, Tsunayoshi. It's not just Rokudo, Mukuro. You need to realize that close friends you'd never expect can turn into your opponents."
Mukuro and the other start to walk away, but I decide to hang back for a moment. "Did you have something to say, Kasumi?" Reborn asks.
I nod. "About Chrome… I'm not too sure what's going on myself, but I'd appreciate it if you could look after her for me," I say. "I'm not too sure what the plan is from here on out, but I suppose that I'll figure something out."
Sawada nods. "Of course!"
I nod. "You have my thanks."
I turn around to go catch up with the others, but Reborn stops me this time. "Kasumi," he says.
I turn back to them. "Yes?"
"You're conflicted, aren't you?" he asks.
I smile wryly and sigh. "Sadly, yes. I-"
"Kasumi!" Ken calls out.
I smile a little and shake my head. "I appreciate you treating me so kindly, but in the end, I know where my allegiance lies." I turn to Sawada. "Next time, we meet, I suppose that it'll be on the battlefield." I nod at him. "Until then, Sawada-san."
I sigh quietly as I head into the room and see Fran sitting there by himself again. "Fran, you did it again?" I ask. "You really have to stop annoying Mukuro-sama like that. You're not going to improve if you don't."
"Like I care about what the pineapple has to say," he replies.
I shake my head. "Come on. Let's practice together then." I cover my right eye with my hair.
"Are we messing with M.M. again?" Fran asks.
"I don't see why not," I reply.
I frown a little as M.M. escapes the effects of our illusions and Fran and I run away. "She's learning. We have to give it a break for now, Fran, or we won't be able to do this again. Besides, I have to start making dinner now." Fran nods. I pat his head. "Try not to stir up too much trouble, alright?"
"Why would I listen to you?"
I smile a little and shake my head. "I'm not telling you not to. I'm asking." I start to head down the hall.
"I'll come with you," Fran says. He starts to walk with me to the kitchen.
"Hm? You want to help?"
"No. I'm just hungry," he replies. I nod. He'll probably end up helping me make dinner again.
