050. Comparison is the Thief of Joy

She can't admit it to Amy; she can't even admit it to a lonely, silent room.

In some ways she's jealous of her mother's life.

Of course, in a forgotten parallel dimension she is his wife but she doesn't have a ring. The Doctor says he loves her and he takes her on a million dates; on the days in-between it's all false words and forgotten promises.

"When am I going to see you again Doctor?"

"Well, you're travelling the universe; I'm travelling the universe. Maybe tomorrow we'll cross paths and say hello."

Sometimes it feels like she's never even there. She doesn't know what he eats for breakfast, she doesn't know his favourite chocolate bar and, at the end of the day, she doesn't know where he's going or where he is or where he's been half of the time.

She's never there for the little things, her mother always is.

"See you around River!"

"Goodbye, Sweetie."
