CHAPTER 56: MEG'S BIRTHDAY...
0700 HOURS...
KENSI & MARTY'S ROOM...
"Dada awake," Meg asked trying to pry Marty's eyes open. "Still asleep," Marty murmured his voice slurred with sleep. "Why yous talk then?" Meg asked. "I can talk in my sleep." Marty told her.
"Dada, wake up." Meg demanded. "Is mommy awake yet?" Marty asked. "No, yous wake up." Meg told him again.
"Why do I have to wake up if mommy's not awake?" Marty whined. "Want you to." Meg said as she tried again to pry his eyes open. "I'll wake up if...you wake your mommy up to." Marty said. "No, yous wake now." Meg demanded.
"A little demanding this morning, aren't you, birthday girl?" Marty asked as he started to tickle Meg.
"Da-dada," Meg screamed and started to laugh, Marty opened his eyes looking at Meg and then over in time to see Kensi open her eyes.
"Morning, Kens." Marty said as she looked from him to Meg and back again.
"What's going on?" Kensi muttered. "Just Meg saying I have to get up, but she wasn't going to wake you up." Marty replied as he stopped tickling Meg.
"I guess we should get up." Kensi said with a yawn as she got up and picked Meg up off the bed. "Yeah, I guess we should see who else Meg woke up with her scream." Marty teased and Meg glared at him.
"Not nice." Meg told him as Kensi started to leave the room.
"Oh, come on, Meg. You are just like your mom sometimes!" Marty called after Kensi and Meg left the room, knowing he would have to explain to Kensi later what he meant by that.
THE KITCHEN...
FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER...
MARTY...
When Marty walked into the kitchen he found Kensi at the stove already making breakfast.
He spotted Callen sitting at the table with coffee, Meg in at the table and Kensi at the stove.
"Morning, Callen." Marty said as he made his way over to the coffee maker to get some coffee, at the same time looking over Kensi's shoulder to see what she was making for breakfast.
"Morning, Marty," Callen replied.
"Don't even say anything about my cooking skills." Kensi warned. "Wasn't planning on it….what are you making?" Marty asked. "French toast," Kensi answered as Marty got a cup of coffee.
"Are you making French toast just for Meg or everyone?" Marty asked. "Yes, I can make some for everyone; if you want to help you can make some bacon, eggs and get Meg some juice." Kensi told him.
"Morning," Sam said walking into the kitchen with Michelle and Laura just behind them wiping the sleep out of her eyes. "Kensi's making French toast for breakfast." Marty said and Sam looked at Kensi.
"For everyone," Sam asked.
"Yes and Marty is going to help make everything else." Kensi said as she smiled at Marty before he had a chance to say anything. "Mama hungry," Meg said from the table.
Once Kensi finished making a couple of pieces of French toast, Marty cut put some on a plate, cut them up and put syrup on it, and then put the plate in front of Meg.
Before Sam pulled another plate and after fixing it, set it in front of Laura.
AN HOUR LATER...
With Marty's help he and Kensi finished making breakfast for everyone.
"This French toast is actually pretty good." Marty commented looking at Kensi. "I told you I could make French toast that was edible." Kensi said looking back at him.
"So what time do we need to leave?" Marty asked. "After everyone is ready," Kensi shot back with a smile. "I know that, but when do you think is the best time so we can get there?" Marty asked looking around the kitchen at the other adults.
"Well we need to be back here about noon 12:30 for lunch and you-know-what. It's almost nine now, so I think once we finish eating. We should get the kids ready and get going." Kensi suggested. "That sounds like a pretty good idea. Are you done Laura?" Michelle asked her daughter and Laura nodded.
So Michelle and Laura got up and headed off to get ready.
"You want to go get ready, Meg?" Kensi asked and Meg looked at Kensi with curiosity in her little blue eyes. "Go where?" Meg asked. "It's a surprise for your birthday, Princess." Marty told her and Meg looked at Marty her eyes lighting up.
"O'tay, let go!" Meg yelled and tried to get out of her seat. "Wait, let me help you." Marty said and helped Meg down.
"I think I'll go get ready to." Nell said getting up. "Uh, yeah, I guess I should to." Eric said following her lead.
Once Meg's feet touched the ground she took off running.
"Meg, no running in the house," Kensi called as she followed and Marty chuckled.
"Are you sure you're going to be able to handle Meg in Disneyland?" Sam asked. "Of course I can. What makes you think I can't?" Marty asked. "We're talking about an energetic three year old in a place made for kids and a lot of the time you act like a kid yourself." Sam pointed out.
"I can handle her; will you be able to handle Laura in Disneyland?" Marty shot back with a grin, before leaving to go get ready.
0930 HOURS...
DISNEYLAND PARKING LOT...
After a lot of confusion, they were finally able to load up in the two vehicles they had come in and head to Disneyland.
"Mama, wookie," Meg yelled excitedly once she saw Disneyland and Kensi smiled.
"This was what your daddy planned as a birthday surprise for you, Meg. Happy Birthday," Kensi said looking into the back seat from the passenger's seat. "Happy Birthday, baby girl," Marty said as he pulled into the parking lot and began to look for a parking place.
Sam, Laura, Michelle, Nell and Eric were right behind them.
"Mo'ty, go to?" Meg asked as she pointed at Monty. "No, we're going to drop him off in a place for doggies and we'll pick him up when we leave." Marty told her and Meg looked sad.
"Mo'ty, be sad." Meg told them and looked ready to cry. "Meg, he will be okay. Before I moved in with you and you're mom, I used to have him boarded when I had to work or have a neighbor watch him." Marty explained.
"We get him back?" Meg asked looking worried. "Yes, we'll pick him up as soon as we leave the park and Monty knows that, okay." Marty asked her and finally Meg agreed.
