Note: this one is rather fluff.
"You've got a lot of fever, Petra!" I'm afraid you'll have to stay in bed for at least 4 days and don't even thing about going out into the cold air! It's a really and cold and I don't want it to get worse" Hanji said as she felt the other girl's forehead and added some notes to her book.
"Four days? But…"
"No buts. You have to get better" she said interrupting Petra's answer, which were most likely claims of her being perfectly healthy. And then, there was a knock on the door "come in" Captain Levi appeared in the room with a serious gesture and he focused his eyes on Petra, examination her for a couple seconds and then his expression changed to a hard one, as he looked at Hanji.
"How bad is it?"
"4 days at least…. Quarantine. We don't want any more sick soldiers. And don't let her get exposed to cold weather. She could get worse"
"Understood" Levi said casually as he leaned on the Wall.
"Captain!" Petra immediately said. Evidently she was expecting that Levi would decrease her convalescence.
"Do I have to sign any shitty paperwork?"
"Just the usual. I'll take care of explaining to the Commander" Hanji said and handed Levi some to sign.
Since the early morning, Captain Levi noticed Petra looking rather pale and coughing a lot. Even her voice was different. An hour later, while the squad was training, the girl has several problems when breathing and she was taking to the infirmary. It's been about an hour after that and the administrative procedures for those cases were very strict; the Scouting Legion took the health of their soldiers very seriously.
Moments later, Levi escorted Petra back to her room, where she would stay for four days. As the leader of the squad, he had the responsibility of taking care of his subordinates, and aside of that he had a special feeling for the girl. The kind of relationship none of the could define; sexual tension, a deep respect and admirations as well as a deep care which always showed between them.
"Aren't you going to speak to me for the rest of the convalescence?" Levi said after Petra entered her room and laid on the bed, avoiding any eye contact with the Captain, who was observing her every move. Something was bothering her and he knew very well what it was.
"Four days!... do you know what it's like to spend four days without ant distraction?"
"I know…" he tried to calm her down.
"No, you don't. I cannot just be here for so long and…." Petra's voice tone changed as if it was suddenly cut out.
"I know. You wanted to see the meteor shower" as soon as he said that the girl looked at him with surprise on her eyes "what? Do you really think I didn't remember?... you have spore about it for more than 3 weeks and…. You were so excited about it" he looked at the floor.
"Yes…"
"I'm so sorry. Your health is a priority and you are a soldier. You don't have the luxury of getting sick for a mere whim. I know you wouldn't forgive yourself if you don't go to the next expedition in two weeks, and only for this"
"That's true" the Captain's words were harsh, but that was just the way he was and how he really felt.
"Rest up. I'll come back tonight to see how you're doing"
It was true. Petra would never forgive herself for not going to the next expedition, especially if it was for neglecting her health, which was the most important thing, after all she has sworn t protect humanity with her life and she would keep that promise. Nevertheless, a month before she got sick, Hanji had told her about ; a show she had never seen before and since that moment she looked forward to it; anxiously waiting for that night, but now everything was complicated and she wouldn't be able to see the starry sky with those dancing stares.
And so, Petra's convalescence began. She entertained herself by writing letters to her dad or friends back in her hometown. She also managed to read a book she had in one of the drawers and looked at some photo albums. The rest of the time she felt rather tired and sick to keep awake. Either she liked it or not, she needed to rest.
Captain Levi visited her, even though Hanji wanted to avoid Petra from being next to any soldier; deceases could spread quickly, but Levi didn't care and he visited the girl 3 times a day, always checking on her and with a different topic to share a nice talk. It was lie that for 2 days, until the third day, the Captain knocked on the door. The day was almost over and with a serious expression he said.
"Hanji wants to run some tests on you to see how you're doing. Let's go"
"Alright…" Petra got up from the bed and walked towards the infirmary alongside the Captain, who looked grumpier than usual "is something wrong?"
"No" he said coldly "just the usual pile of paperwork on my desk, thanks to Erwin" he cursed under his breath and Petra couldn't stop herself from laughing. At least she wouldn't be the only one missing the meteor shower.
When they arrived to the infirmary, Hanji was already there, waiting for them with a big smile. She was preparing a new remedy for bad colds, just like Petra's. And as soon as Levi noticed it he could only say.
"I don't even want to ask" and he slammed the door behind him, leaving Petra and Hanji alone.
About an hour later, Levi came back for Petra. He didn't know what to expect from those tests, but he hoped the girl would get well soon, or at least that her frustration had already gone away.
"Are you done?"
"Yeap. It looks like Petra will be as good as new in a couple days"
"I feel just fine now" the girl said with a mischievous look
"Don't even think about it…" said Levi glaring at her.
"You need to rest a little more" Hanji smiled and touched Petra's head "there will be a future occasion to see the stars"
Petra heavily sighed and walked towards the door, where Levi was waiting for her to escort her back to her room.
The walk back to Petra's room was silent. Their steeps were the only thing that sounded in the hall and only simple comments were exchanged between them. Levi glanced at the girl, trying to read her and looking for any signs of her health getting better or her humor; she might be a little disappointed. The meteor shower would be that night and she couldn't go outside and see it.
When they arrived to her room he placed his hand on the door lock, stopping her from opening it and looked at Petra with some apprehension.
"I don't want to see you sad"
"I'm not. It's just that I'm a little frustrated and…. I'm still feeling a little sick.
"You look pale" he approached and He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear "I'm sorry you won't be able to see the meteor shower and…. I hope I could make it up for you, somehow"
"It's not your fault I…" she looked at the floor, enjoying the closeness between them. She loved to feel him close, even if it was only for a couple instants "perhaps it wasn't meant to be"
"I really wish I could make it up"
And then Levi opened the door. The room was completely dark but there were many phosphorescent figures all over the walls. Each one was different and they looked like shining stars in the sky, contrasting with the dark room and the night and the moonshine made it look even more beautiful. As soon as Petra saw it, she was speechless. She looked around while Levi closed the door behind him, making the room a little darker and the stars even more shiny.
"You did this, right?"
"Let's say that, once in a while shitty glasses has interesting ideas" Levi sat in the bed, looking around.
"I don't know what to say…"
"You don't have to say anything. Just sit beside me and let's watch the stars together" Levi has a tiny smile on his lips and Petra sat next to him, without saying a word and still looking at the stars around her.
Minutes passed by and none of them said a Word. Time seemed relative; it didn't pass and they both looked around them, admiring the shining stars along with the silence of the night. It seemed like some shining figures whispered what they didn't dare to speak out and without noticing they ended up cuddling in bed, fighting against the longing to kiss each other and the need of sleeping and right before they knew, they fell asleep and they would face dawn inside each other's arms.
Hey guys!
Well, this was a special request from "Vale" I hope it wasn't too ooc. I thought about this one when I was looking at the sky, looking for something to write and then it came to me. So, what do you think?
Have a nice weekend!
