AN: And now we enter a new arc! This is one of the arcs I really wanted to do! Like so bad, I would skip the previous ones!
Kidding, but this will be interesting.
After all both magic and science stories occur within the same time AND place.
Make what you will with that comment.
Chapter 53: Day One
I yawned from how early I had to get up.
"C'mon Otomi, we gotta show these chums how Sakugawa rules!" Ruiko dragged me out of our dorm,
I was still waking up.
"How long were you up last night?" asked my roommate,
"Binged watching makes you lose your sense of time." I yawned out,
It's been a few days after the whole Endymion incident. Apparently, Shutaura decided to inherit Arisa's singing career. Also, Shutaura decided Arisa was her stage name and such.
She went off to pursuit her dreams.
"Sheesh of all the days you had to binge watch." Ruiko shook her head, "And I thought I was the more irresponsible one between the two of us."
Then a strong caffeinated scent infiltrated my sense of smell.
I was immediately awake.
"Thanks." I drank the coffee right away,
"And of course this wakes you up." Ruiko sighed with a grin,
Blinking again, I noticed all of our dormmates waiting at the front gate.
"Wait, what?" I wondered,
Nobody was wearing the school uniform.
"Otomi you gotta wear your gym attire." Ruiko pointed out, "Did you really forget what today is?"
Today?
Something about a festival.
"Festival?" I wondered,
Ruiko pinched her nose.
"You seem out of touch." she sighed, "Daihasei Festival, ring any bells?"
Oh.
Oh!
Academy City's annual school sports competition!
Maya and the others were talking about it a few days when we were hanging out at their cafe. They said something along the lines of dominating Nagatenjouki, Shinobu's old school.
How could I forget?
"I should change." I realized I was not wearing the required uniform,
It was a simple white shirt with dark shorts.
I was staring at Ruiko's head.
"Really?" I wondered,
"Hey, it's school spirit to wear one!" Ruiko pouted, "Gotta show Sakugawa Middle School has some spirit within them despite the lack of espers!"
"Like an underdog sports movie." I rolled my eyes,
She had a headband.
Whatever.
My phone went off and I checked it.
"Have to do the opening ceremony with the most boring speech." I read it outloud,
"Who?" Ruiko read the text over my shoulder, "Star?"
Misaki.
Why was she telling me this?
"The fifth level 5." I said, "Just acquaintances."
It was strange. The first time we met, she knew immediately who I was since I didn't have my sister's electrical mental resistance. We kept in touch early on, but it fell off. Both of us got busy with whatever we had to do.
"Sheesh, how many level 5s do you know?" Ruiko asked me,
"Enough to know these guys are way out of touch with reality." I rolled my eyes,
We both got lost within the crowd of fellow students.
I could hear everyone and their stupid gossip.
"There she is looking high and mighty."
"I bet she can do all the activities all by her lonesome."
"Yeah, Akami thinks she's too good to team up with us."
Once again, my quiet demeanor was mistaken for absolute arrogance.
My class didn't like me, since I did take the number one spot in terms of student ranking.
When we got to one of the stadiums, it was already late morning.
I saw Misaki along with another level 5.
Sogita Gunha the 7th level 5.
The rankings weren't based on measure of power, but on the researcher's interest. Sogita's ability was an absolute unknown, yet it was still powerful to be considered a level 5.
Based on the given facts, he's a gemstone. As in, he had the ability even before the Power Curriculum Program.
I speculated he's born with those powers.
Now if only some telepath would take him to an institute with other gifted fellows like him.
The speech began.
"We, with good camaraderie and sportsmanship, wish this year's Daihasei Festival to be..."
I drawled out the rest of the speech.
Misaki was right, it was boring.
I say this was too formal. This festival was about the students, not the researchers! It should be filled with emotion and comedy! Get a few good laughs and awes from the audience!
Arrghh!
"Show the results of your training and guts!" Sogita yelled out,
Misaki was getting overshadowed by Sogita's on the spot speech.
Now, that's a student's speech!
"To make this the best tournament ever!" Sogita grinned, "To overcome everything with guts, to get up with guts everytime we fall down!"
Misaki seemed relieved. She didn't want to do that boring speech anymore.
"With guts this festival will be amazing!"
Then explosions happened all around Sogita. The people behind him were blown away by the sudden explosions. Thankfully, none of them were hurt.
Was that his power?
Anyways, everyone seemed to cheer at the improvised speech. Earlier, everybody seemed bored and tired but now they're wide awake.
"You think that was part of the script?!" Ruiko was caught up with the crowd,
She seemed excited.
"Maybe." I smiled,
This should be a fun day.
Once everyone left the stadium, I was approached by Mikoto.
"Hey Saten, can I talk to Otomi alone?" she requested,
Ruiko nodded and waved as we disappeared out of her sights.
"What's up?" I asked,
"My mom's here." Mikoto stated,
So?
"Don't give me that look." my sister sighed, "She would recognize her own kid's face, so I had to tell the Sisters to lay low until the entire festival is over."
Ah, made sense.
If the mother saw the clone of her child, she would easily mistaken her as the child.
Did that mean, Mikoto's mother is my mother too?!
"I wonder how Ichiroku would fare?" I asked outloud,
"Yeah, I had to tell him and Proto to keep an eye out for mom and avoid her." she told me with a sigh,
She seemed stressed out.
"C'mon it's a festival have some fun and vent out your problems." I advised,
Mikoto simply gave me a nod.
"Yeah you're right, I should have some fun." my sister said, "Besides, I kinda wanna make a bet with him."
Him? As in Touma?
"You mean sempai right?" I wanted a confirmation,
"Why do you call him that?" she groaned,
He's older and a higher grader than us. Yet I won't retort that obvious fact.
"I have a three-legged race coming up really soon, so see you later!" Mikoto realized and dashed off,
Seriously, Mikoto needed to ease up.
So, I had to participate at my assigned sporting events and avoid Mikoto's mother.
Sounded like an easy day.
Facing troubles with sarcasm and wit can keep the mind calm.
"At least, things will be interesting." I chuckled to myself,
Once I got to my designated event, I simply sighed at the huge crowd.
"Today's event is a 5 kilometer race!" the announcer declared,
I could see so many new faces, most likely parents and siblings of the competitors.
"However for this race, esper abilities are allowed!" the announcer explained,
This should be simple enough.
Sakugawa's school body was watching me with alerted eyes.
"So you're competing here too, huh?" someone told me with interest,
It was Kayo.
"Hey to you too." I greeted back,
"May the best one win." my friend smirked,
Once we got into positions, I was starting to focus electricity into my feet.
I could hear Ruiko's cheers from the noise.
"You got this Otomi!"
I took a deep breath and stared at the goal line.
Five kilometers was far.
I was rubbing my soles on the ground with eagerness.
I felt electrical energy forming beneath my feet.
"On your mark!"
The guy held that fake gun up.
What was it called?
"Get set!"
I didn't know how much electricity I generated.
I ignored the other competitors' stares at me.
Even Kayo was amazed.
"Holy-" she commented,
"Go!"
The gun went off.
The moment I moved, I never realized how fast I went.
In the blink of an eye, I went from the starting point to the finishing line within a heartbeat.
I blinked again and I felt everyone's stare right at me.
"A-Akami Otomi r-reach the finish line first!" the announcer gasped,
There was a huge screen to show the competitors from the unfortunate audience further away. Yet, it showed a reply of what I did.
There was electricity cackling beneath me. When the race began, there was a blue streak of electricity from where I was.
I turned around to see the burnt markings above the pavement.
My face heated up from all the attention I was getting.
I simply smiled towards the camera.
There was a timer on the screen and it showed my time.
One second.
It's not a new record?
I felt a pat on my back.
"Sheesh, never pegged you for the competitive type." Kayo grinned, "You didn't even notice all that static electricity you were forming?"
"I was caught up within the moment." I stated, "I was focusing."
"Well good on you." she poked my chest,
The cameras were still on us.
"Kirigaoka's Kasugano Kayo congratulating Sakugawa's Akami Otomi, showing what good sportsmanship is!" the announcer pointed out, "Nobody expected one of the lower placed schools to beat one of the more prestiged ones! That's the Star of Sakugawa for you!"
I could hear all the applauds, even my fellow classmates were part of it.
This was a lot of attention.
After that quick event, I was taking a break by walking around the busy streets.
So many parents and children wandered around the place. I could tell some of them were seeing Academy City for the very first time.
The surprised looks were a dead giveaway.
Glad to know, so many people were enjoying this.
To be fair, this was my first participation in a sporting event. I'm having fun too.
"Hey Otomi!"
Turning around, I saw Touma and Index approaching me.
!
I immediately realized something familiar about Touma's outfit.
Where did I see that before?
!
No.
Was that vision going to happen soon?!
My sister will undergoing a level 6 transformation.
How was I supposed to prevent that?!
"Otomi?" Index waved her hand in front of me,
"Y-Yes?" I stuttered out,
"Everything alright?" asked Touma, "You seemed out of it."
Should I tell them? What would be the consequences?
If I don't tell them, then that vision will happen.
If I do tell them, then that vision will occur sooner or later.
There's more possibilities, but those were the two immediate results.
"Yeah, just winded out from my race." I told them with a smile,
As much as I despised my old self, lying to my friends was always a painful thing to do. Now it was heart-wrenching.
"That was pretty impressive." Touma pat my head with a smile,
"You were so cool Otomi!" Index's eyes were filled with amazement then had a realization, "Touma don't you have an event soon?"
"Such misfortune, I almost forgot!" Touma's eyes widened,
The two of them ran off.
I simply chuckled at the sight-
Argghh!
My head!
"Otomi?" a voice whispered within my mind,
Misaki.
She directed me to a secluded area.
Her entering my mind felt different than my siblings. With my sisters and brother, it was like sharing an entire dorm. With Misaki, it felt like a guest.
A guest that enters whenever they please.
I followed her instructions and met up with her.
"Ah, Otomi it's been a long time!" Misaki cheerfully waved towards me, "How long had it been?"
!
?
I-I can't recall at all!
"More than a month." I answered,
She frowned at me suddenly.
"You don't remember?" she asked me,
I felt her entering my mind once more.
"No please don't be like him." she whispered in fear,
Him?
"You've met him already." she answered by unasked question,
"Touma?" was my automatic response,
She gave me a nod and gestured to an ambulance.
What?
When I got on the back, I noticed a stranger. His appearance screamed white coat to me.
"Please, Otomi it's not what you think!" Misaki put herself in front of the man,
I blinked and noticed my hand at the man's neck. His eyes were widened.
I let go.
"Thanks for not killing me." the man said,
Blond hair with green eyes, yet those eyes seemed bored for some reason.
"Keitz this is Akami Otomi." Misaki introduced the man to me,
"Yes, my name is Keitz Noklebe." he affirmed, "A pleasure to meet you."
His demeanor screamed scientist.
His name screamed foreigner.
"Why should I trust a white coat?" I glared, "From the way you recognized me, you know I'm a clone! Therefore you had a part in that level 6 experiment!"
I was fully aware, some of these white coats was never personal for them.
I believed it was a way to prevent them from feeling guilty if they ever befriended any of the Sisters.
"You're right I did recognize you as the defected clone and I was part of it." he sighed,
A part of me wanted to kill him on that spot. I wanted to show no mercy.
Misaki gulped.
"But?" I gestured him to continue,
"I had a distaste for my employers." he said, "I was just doing my job."
Just doing his job?
Was that what they're calling it?
"Whatever." I glared, "If Misaki trusts you then I have to trust you as well."
There had to be a reason why Misaki brought me over to him. If she believed this man can assist, then I would trust her judgement. After all, she could tell if people were having second doubts.
"There's a group wanting to revive the level 6 experiments." Keitz sighed,
Who?!
I need a name?
I won't let another tragedy happen!
"Give me a name and my friends can end the bastard." I requested,
"As nice as it is, it's not just any man." Misaki frowned,
Then who?!
A higher authority?
Who gives a damn about that!
"Kihara Gensei." Misaki answered,
!
"Another Kihara." I snarled, "And it had to be the old bastard of all Kiharas."
Ironically, he was the reason I'm alive.
I would never forget a Kihara smile. It wasn't human in any way.
It gave me shivers.
"The leader of all Kiharas." sighed Misaki, "So, you and your little group can't exactly kill the old man without putting a big target on your back."
Good point.
As much as Maya loved to get attention, she preferred to be discrete when it came to our operations.
"Anything else?" I wondered,
"The next event is Balloon Hunter." Keitz told us,
Why tell me that?
"Misaka isn't there." Misaki frowned, "You'd think she'd be one of the more willing participants within this event."
The telepath gave me a glance.
"If you think I'm going to take her place, then be disappointed." I rolled my eyes, "I did the whole impersonation and it was stupid. My voice hurt after the entire thing."
I recalled the last day of summer vacation and my throat was a bit sore. Thankfully, I was able to eat so much ice cream.
Vanilla all the way.
"Looks like one of her clones is taking her place." Misaki was checking Keitz's laptop, "Your Misaka disguised was almost perfect when we first met."
That was a long time ago.
I had to get back to the situation.
"Which school are they facing?" I wondered,
"Some no-name that's who." Misaki casually respond, "Unless there's some grand planner with them, Tokiwodai will just mow through them."
I wanted to root for that school, simply for the fact they're the underdogs.
Yet, I knew people at Tokiwodai.
"Unless Tokiwodai's ego gets taken advantage off, then the other school won't stand a chance." I pointed out,
Between the two, Tokiwodai had the obvious advantage in terms of raw ability and power. Yes, a middle school full of young girls will decimate an average looking high school student body.
"Good point." Misaki nodded,
Then I realized something.
"Guess being the queen means you're not willing to participate in any event?" I asked her,
Misaki looked away.
What?
"I read your profile you know." I told Misaki, "Apparently it states, your physical capabilities are on the bottom end."
She kept looking away.
"I mean, you don't have to be athletic and all that stuff." I went on, "Plus, I bet if you got involved with any of my previous adventure, you'd end it in a flash. So you do your thing, while I do mine."
I got up and left the vehicle.
The ambulance drove off.
Sighing to myself, I wondered what event I skipped.
On the way back, I noticed a very peculiar person.
Her mere appearance screamed danger. She was dressed like a worker, but it was left open.
Buttons were open to reveal a large bust and her unzipped pants left little imagination.
She blinked as I blinked back.
"Something wrong?" the woman asked me,
"Sorry, got lost." I simply smiled,
It was strange to see her carrying some sort of covered mirror with one hand. Or maybe it was a sign?
Either way, it seemed lighter than it appeared.
I shook my head and walked past her.
At the corner of my eye I saw a certain fire magician. If he was here then there had to be something magical occurring again.
"So where's your little witch trio?" I asked Stiyl, "And what problem is there now involving magicians?"
His eyes slightly widened from my presence.
"There back at England still learning how to control their elements." he told me, "Marie, in particular, has a slight fear over electricity. She tends to avoid any electrical devices when she uses her spells."
All thanks to me.
"As for our current problem." he pondered,
It seemed like he was thinking if telling me about the situation was a good idea or not.
"Hey, what's your religious practice?" he asked me,
"None." I answered immediately, "I'm born from science, but I've seen plenty of magic to know it does exist. Yet religion was never a particular subject I was interested at. I do believe in an afterlife, a heaven and hell, if that counts."
I recalled my sisters telling me they'll all meet up in the afterlife.
"I've been assigned to find and apprehend Oriana Thomson." he told me,
Who?
"She's hired as a courier for Lidvia Lorenzetti of the Roman Catholic Church." he went on,
So foreigners within Academy City again, based on the names. So first name then last name.
Roman Catholic Church? That sounded like a powerful organization.
"So what's in the package?" I asked him, "Plus where's your Saint partner?"
"The Stab Sword can kill a Saint with one hit, so Kanzaki won't be in this mission." he answered my questions,
Stab Sword?! What kind of name is that?
Better to call it Saint Bane or something.
Now that sounded cooler.
"And what does this courier look like?" I asked,
Taking out a phone, he showed me a picture of the cour-
Wow.
Talk about bad timing or good timing.
"I-I just saw her a moment ago." I realized, "Right before I saw you."
Bad timing since I could've fought that woman and possibly died. Good timing since I wouldn't look as suspicious towards the woman.
"Just be careful out there." he told me, "Tsuchimikado and Imagine Breaker are aware of this situation, but don't you tell Index about this."
I simply nodded and he left the area.
Then it hit me.
There were two crisis occurring within the city. Both of them happening during this particular festival.
I simply shook my head.
Which situation should I prioritize?
"Onee-sama!"
One was a personal problem, since it did involved bringing back the level 6 experiment.
The other was a possible world ending crisis. I'm just under the assumption, if the problem was involved with magic then it can destroy Academy City or the entire world.
"Hello? You there?" Proto waved her hand in front of me,
I blinked and noticed my siblings in front of me.
"Guys you do realized Mikoto's mother is here, right?" I wondered, "Didn't I text you guys about her situation?"
"Of course we're aware." Ichiroku nodded, "But Proto and I were watching events unfold through your eyes and we got the gist of it."
Oh.
"I see." I nodded, "Looks like Stiyl wants to solve the problem without causing a stir."
"As well as Misaki." Ichiroku pointed out, "Discrete, but weary."
Seemed like it.
"All in the while Daihasei is happening!" Proto added, "What better time to do this while security is higher than normal! Yeah good on them!"
We could tell Proto's sarcasm was at it's peak.
"Yet, why would anyone do it at this time?" Ichiroku wondered outloud,
"So reverse psychology then?" I guessed,
My sister and brother nodded.
"So any new info I should be aware of?" I asked the two,
"After Misaki told us about Kihara's plan, we did a little observation at the students." Ichiroku began,
"One of the high schools has been hiding an agent from MEMBER, Baba Yoshio." Proto scowled, "He's like one of the worst kinds of people you'll ever meet. Wanting people to suffer just because he was bullied. Talk about sore loser."
So someone from MEMBER, huh? His name almost sounded like that one green dinosaur with the long tongue.
"He's been assigned to kidnap one of the Sisters." frowned Ichiroku, "And unfortunately for us, 10032 was mistaken as the original and is participating in the same event as Baba."
Damn.
"But we got that magic problem as well." I pointed out, "It could be world ending."
"Just like with Endymion?" Proto wondered,
Ichiroku and I simply nodded.
"So Saint's Bane can, somehow, destroy Academy City." my brother thought outloud, "Like what, does it pierce anything?"
"Saints." I shrugged,
Our level of snark had increased dramatically.
It was a way to de-stress all the crazy events we went through.
"So which one first?" Ichiroku wondered,
!
I got it!
...
My siblings were left to monitor our possible crisis. I gave Proto our scientific problem, while Ichiroku handled the magic situation.
Proto teased our brother about checking out foreign women. Ichiroku simply rolled his eyes.
We split up to cover more ground.
I was left with wandering around the busy and loud streets. I could do this since, official, I'm 'exhausted' from my race. Therefore, I'm not participating in any other events for the rest of the day.
"Sheesh, who am I gonna find first?" I sighed,
I heard my phone ringing.
"Interesting to see your upperclassmen disguised themselves as middle school students during a ball throwing event." Ichiroku told me, "One of their classmates touched a pole and was blown away causing some injuries."
Looks like we got a casualty already.
"When was this?" I asked,
"Just a few moments ago, around the same time we discussed our plan nee-san." my brother answered,
I shook my head.
"It wasn't my school was it?" I asked,
"It's not." he replied,
It was a shame, but I was glad Ruiko wasn't there to witness it.
My phone went off, again.
"Hey onee-sama! 10032 collapsed and Misaki brought her to an unknown location!" Proto yelled out,
Misaki practically kidnapped one of my younger sisters.
"Whatever plan Misaki has, we gotta have some faith in her." I told Proto, "She's doing this for the Sisters. I feel whatever she thought of us, it's something positive."
Proto took a deep breath.
"Alright." Proto affirmed, "Since you trust her, I will trust her too."
Looks like, I'm dealing with the magic side first.
If this Saint's Bane could hurt so many people where would I search?
Besides, these lively streets were filled with so many vendors.
I knew a place.
Before I could get there-
"The bus routes are suspended?!" I gasped at a sign by a nearby bus stop,
What the hell happened?
My phone started to ring.
I got a text from Ichiroku,
"The fire guy blew up a bus where the courier used." I read, "Thankfully it was just her."
I sighed with relief.
Stiyl wasn't heartless.
Yet, he's the reason why the buses were unavailable.
Simply sighing, again, I went to the nearest restaurant to catch a break.
"Just the afternoon and it feels like a long day." I mumbled,
My eyes widened at the unexpected group eating together. It was Touma, Index, Mikoto and a few adults.
!
No way!
Was that Mikoto mother?!
Seriously, since I'm her sister, should I consider that woman my mother as well?
There was a couple. The man had some resemblance to-
It was Touma's parents!
I wanted to hide.
"Hey Otomi!" Index waved towards me,
Crap.
I was supposed to avoid Misaka's mother. Yet, here she was looking at me. The entire group was giving me curious looks.
"Hey Otomi!" Touma stood up nervously and grabbed my hand,
I felt a shiver for some reason.
"Surprised to see you, but it's a good kind of surprise." he chuckled,
I blinked and gave his parents a glance. They both looked surprised, but they had smiles as well.
"Oh Touma is this your girlfriend?" his mother asked with beaming eyes,
!
G-G-Girlfriend?!
I mean I do admire Touma for what does! I did have a crush on him and gave him a kiss or two.
It was a sign of thanks!
Oh man, wasn't that how couples sometimes thank their partners?!
I really do look up to him.
Maybe in a different world, he and I could-
No, I shouldn't go into that train of thought.
Both our faces heated up, while the chill got colder.
"I-uh-what?!" was my reaction, "S-Sempai i-is just someone I inspire to be!"
Did my voice just get higher?
As high as Mikoto's voice?
"M-Mom!" Touma voiced out,
Our responses didn't help the situation at all.
Touma gave me a quick glance and blushed.
W-Was he starting at me lips?
"Oh my!" his mother giggled,
"Otomi sit here." Mikoto gritted her teeth while smiling,
I couldn't tell if she was jealous or screaming.
Maybe both.
When I gave Mikoto a look, her eyes asked me if this was intentional.
I blinked twice and she sighed.
It was just bad timing.
"Wow, Miko-chan you know there's that saying about identical strangers?" her mother asked,
That was an obvious first question.
"Me and Otomi get that a lot." Mikoto responded,
She was begging for me to help, with her eyes.
"Yeah, just give me a wig and I can look like her." I chuckled,
Mikoto slapped her forehead.
Whoops.
"I saw your race and it was quite a sight." Mikoto's mother told me,
"Thanks." I replied,
"I mean, they showed a bunch of replays of amazing feats throughout the entire day." she went on,
I simply nodded.
Lunch was simply a rest for me. There's a dangerous situation unfolding and here I am. I wanted a quick reminder of who I'm doing this for.
My friends and family.
I felt a smile forming.
"Thanks for the lunch." I thanked my friends' parents,
I just realized I never got their names.
"Misaka Misuzu." the mother of my sister introduced herself,
I'm pretty sure that made her my biological mother.
"I'm Kamijou Shiina, a pleasure to meet you" Touma's mother smiled,
She gave off this high class lady aura.
"And I'm Kamijou Touya, finally glad to see my son with a special someone." Touma's father chuckled,
I could see where Touma got his looks from. I wonder if Touma inherited the girl magnet skills from his dad.
"Name's Akami Otomi." I gave them my name, "Thanks again for the lunch."
When I stood up, I noticed an exhausted Maya approaching us. Her eyes widened due to the person by me.
"Misu-oba!" Maya yelled in total glee,
"Maya-chan!" Mikoto's mother stood up,
The two ran up and hugged each other. Both of them were acting like old friends.
"Nice to see you doing fine Maya-chan." my donor's mother smiled,
Maya gave me a beaming look.
"To think you'd beat Kayo on that race." Maya nodded, "Impressive."
"Nice seeing you here Maya, but I gotta go." I quickly left the building,
Just from seeing each other, I'm sure Maya was very close to the Misaka family. I mean, Maya was the reason Mikoto wore shorts under the skirt. Those two acted like sisters, based on the interactions I've seen.
Wait, where's Mikoto's father? Why wasn't he here?
Once I left the building, I spotted a familiar Tokiwodai student with her fan.
Kongou.
"Ah, Otomi there you are." she waved,
She was looking for me?
"What's up?" I greeted in return,
The wind esper looked conflicted. She gave out a determined nod and her mouth opened.
"I noticed Misaka's sister at the balloon event, instead of Misaka herself." she told me, "I'll assume Misaka had important manners to attend to."
!
Was this girl that observant?
I mean, one of the first things she mentioned to me was my strong resemblance to Mikoto.
"Yeah she did." I responded,
Kongou gave me a supportive smile.
"Listen Otomi, no matter what happened in the past you have to tell Misaka the truth." she patted my shoulder,
What is she talking about?
"You're her sister too, right?" Kongou told me with a serious face, "You guys are close enough and really good friends. I know Misaka has a good heart and she will accept you as her sister!"
Oh.
Was she under the assumption I hid, so called, 'real identity' from Mikoto?
To be fair, she did realized it was a Sister and not the donor.
"Kongou we actually settled it a while ago." I smiled,
She looked surprised, but Kongou returned the smile.
"Good to know." she replied, "See you around Otomi."
With that, Mitsuko Kongou left.
My phone went off.
"Yes?" I responded,
"Nee-san we got a problem with our so called Saint's Bane." Ichiroku informed me,
Oh?
"Go on." I permitted,
"It's all a ruse according to what I gathered." he continued, "It's actually called the Croce di Pietro or Cross of Saint Peter"
Some religious nonsense.
"So what does it do?" I asked,
"No idea, but the conditions are using the stars at a particular time and date." he answered,
!
Wait a minute!
"There's supposed to be fireworks for the Night Parade tonight." I realized,
Looks like the magic problem will be solved later.
"Ah, quite fortunate for us then." Ichiroku chuckled, "Do you think the the fireworks are intentional for this particular time and date?"
That's a good question.
"Oh wait, based on previous Daihasei Festival events the fireworks do occur at the same time period." he answered his own question,
It felt like a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
Still there's still one more problem to deal with. Plus it's still the first day of the festival.
Kihara Gensei
It's not over yet.
END AN: So I practically skimmed over the Magic Side of Daihasei since Science Side will give Otomi a more personal reason to participate in it.
Anyways I hope whenever Railgun Season 3 starts, they will start with Daihasei. (That's just me)
So Otomi met the parents, most notably her biological mother? (I mean clone of the original's mother makes that person the mom right?)
Plus it's just establishing everything that's going to happen later on during Daihasei on the 2nd Day. Can't wait to get those chapters out!
Enjoy your day/night!
