Chapter 46: Bittersweet
Miles watched as people moved around one another. Everyone was talking and crying. They were all telling each other how sad they were or how sorry they were that this even happened, like it was their fault or something. It wasn't their fault though. Something else was to blame.
Miles shifted in his seat. He was wearing a nice black suit that Kyle had borrowed him. He felt like he was suffocating. The tie around his neck just seemed to be getting tighter and tighter. All the people around him made him feel like he had no room to move. The world was closing in on him.
"Are you ok?"
Miles looked up at Kyle. He too was in a black suit. Miles didn't understand why people had to wear black to funerals. Black just made him feel icky.
"No, I don't think I will be ok for awhile," Miles replied. "Plus this stupid monkey suit is constricting and this tie is choking me."
"Here," Kyle loosened the tie for Miles. "You look like you could use some fresh air." He hauled Miles to his feet, and led him through the crowd. They exited the building.
Suddenly, Miles could breath again. Leave it to Kyle to know what he needed. That's why Miles was best friends with Kyle. Or maybe it was because they were best friends that Kyle knew this. Whatever the reason, Miles was just glad to have Kyle in his life.
"Thanks," Miles said smiling slightly for the first time in days.
"For what?" Kyle asked.
"Just being a friend, and knowing what I need before I even know myself," Miles admitted.
"It's what I'm here for," Kyle quipped.
"There you guys are, the service is about to start."
They both turned to see Lilly standing in the doorway. She too was in all black. It made everything depressing. Miles smile vanished and they all headed inside. They joined the others who were sitting with Carlos and Logan.
Miles took his seat next to Kyle on the end of the row. Miles saw the Payne's sitting upfront. Fran looked so lonely as her parents leaned on each other for comfort. Miles jumped up and walked up to her. She looked up at him with teary eyes.
"Is this spot taken?" Miles asked.
"Have a seat," Fran replied.
"How you holding up?" miles asked quietly.
"It's weird not hearing her voice anymore. Every time I go over there I expect her to answer the door or holler at me to go away," Fran said a fresh batch of tears springing to her eyes.
"I know the feeling, it's so awkward with the others. They all keep talking about her and I just want them to stop. It-" Miles trailed off.
"Hurts?" Fran asked. Miles nodded her head. Fran placed an arm around him in a hug. "I don't think it's ever gonna stop hurting, we will just have to learn to live with it." She said softly.
"I was afraid of that," Miles mumbled.
"Don't worry kid, you still got me," Fran replied.
"Gee thanks a lonely college student who doesn't have a friend of her own so she has to hang out with her..." Miles trailed off slowly.
"Sister and her boyfriend," Fran finished softly.
"Yeah that," Miles said looking down at the ground. He wanted it to split open and swallow him whole. It seemed everything lately just led back to Rion.
"Oh, I got this for you," Fran said digging into her pocket and pulling out a USB drive.
"What's it for?" Miles asked confused.
"A computer," Fran replied.
"Har-har," Miles said rolling his eyes at her.
"I was on Rion's computer and I found something for you," Fran said.
Miles heart leap at that. Was it the video he had recorded with Rion. Miles was so glad for Fran these last few days she kept him sane, mostly. She was someone who understood his pain a bit better than his friends did. She was there when he needed her, and he was there for her. Somewhere along the line they had become friends. Miles couldn't help but think that if it hadn't been for Rion he never would've met Fran.
The service started. The eulogy was given and a visitation was started. People were welcomed to come and say their final goodbyes, starting with her family. Fran was hesitant. Miles could feel it radiating off her.
"You don't have to go up there, you can say goodbye to her in your own way," Miles said quietly.
"I'm just scared, this is the last chance I'll ever get to see my little sister in person," Fran admitted softly.
"Me too, wanna go together?" Miles asked.
"Really? You'll come with me?" Fran asked. Miles nodded his head. "Thank you Miles," she said.
Miles stood and held a hand out to Fran. She took it. Together they walked up to the casket behind her parents. Miles placed an arm around Fran. She looked at him and gave him a small smile of thanks. The two waited their turn.
Miles was freaking out. He wanted to turn and run away. He wanted Rion at his side not Fran. He wanted her back so he could tell her how much he loved her. He wanted to talk to her, just one last time. Most of all, he wanted her to talk back and laugh with him like she used to.
-We Are-
Adam groaned as he walked back and forth. He had been walking in a circle for hours now. Kenny was crying and he wouldn't stop. Adam had tried everything and nothing was working. Cooper was at work and Miri was at Jennifer's apartment for the night, so Adam was alone with the baby.
Adam glanced to the clock. Cooper should be home soon. Maybe he would know what to do. Adam had tried feeding Kenny and changing his diaper. He had tried burping him and got nothing. Rocking wasn't' working either. Adam was at his wit's end. He just didn't know what to do.
The apartment door opened. Adam turned to face Cooper. Cooper stopped in his tracks.
"Coop, I've tried everything he won't stop," Adam said. Cooper quickly shut the door and crossed the room to Adam. He gently took the baby from Adam.
"It's ok Addie, I've got this," Cooper said looking down at their son. He started to gently rock him.
"I've tried that," Adam said as he sat down on the couch.
"Shh, it's ok Kenny," Cooper said soothingly. He gently bounced his son and made soothing noises. Kenny looked up at Cooper and his crying lessened. "They know when you're stressed Addie. It's ok," he said. He looked to the couch. Adam was passed out.
Cooper walked over to Adam and placed a hand on his shoulder. Adam jerked awake. Cooper smiled and placed a finger to his lips.
"Go lay down, I've got this," Cooper said softly. Adam nodded his head.
Adam made his way to the bedroom. He was a bit jealous that Cooper was able to calm Kenny down, but mostly he was glad that it was quiet. Maybe he could take a nap.
-We Are-
Kyle shed his jacket and loosened his tie as he sank down onto the orange couch in 2J. Jared was in the kitchen getting him some water. Kyle had just left Rion's funeral. Miles had gone home with his family. Kyle had dropped Leora off at home. He needed to get away for a bit.
"Are you ok?" Jared asked as he sat down beside the blonde.
"No, I just watched one of my friends get buried," Kyle said looking down at his hands.
"Sorry, I just...here," Jared held out the glass of water he had gotten the blonde. Kyle took it and took a sip. "I'm here if you need me."
"Why do you think I'm here, I just...I don't want to talk about it," Kyle sighed. He set the glass on the coffee table.
Jared sat back on the couch. He tugged Kyle close. Kyle smiled and leaned into the older male. Jared just held him close. It was all that Kyle needed. Today had been a long day.
"So, uh, how's Lilly and the uh-" Jared started.
"The baby?" Kyle asked. Jared just nodded his head. "If you're uncomfortable Jer, we don't have to talk about her." Kyle sat up and turned to face the older male.
"Well, come this fall we won't have a choice. Once that baby is here, everything will change," Jared said.
"I know, but...I want you to be a part of this baby's life. I want you in mine," Kyle said.
"What does Lilly want," Jared asked.
"She understands that you are a part of my life," Kyle said slowly. "Actually she's got an appointment next week and she asked me if you wanted to come."
"Really?" Jared asked shocked.
"Yeah, you don't have to if you're uncomfortable," Kyle said quickly.
"I don't know," Jared admitted.
"It's ok Jared, Lilly and I are still trying to figure some things out. She's still on the fence about keeping the baby. I'm doing all I can to convince her to keep her," Kyle said.
"Her?" Jared asked.
"Well, we won't know the gender for another month or so. I just think it's gonna be a little girl," Kyle admitted his cheeks red.
"You think so?" Jared asked.
"I think about it all the time," Kyle admitted.
"Aren't you scared?" Jared asked curiously.
"I'm scared to death of becoming a parent, but I messed up and I need to take responsibility," Kyle said.
"You Knights, always trying to do the right thing. Have you ever considered adoption might be the best thing?" Jared asked. Kyle opened his mouth to protest. "I'm not trying to change your mind. It's just there are some people out there that can't have kids no matter how hard they try."
"Jer," Kyle said slowly.
"No, I'm serious. There are people out there that try and try, but they can never have kids because of one stupid mistake they make when they are young," Jared said jumping up from the couch.
"Jared?" Kyle said confused. He jumped up and stopped the older male from leaving.
"I was sixteen and had an accident and I was told the chances of me ever carrying a child to full term were slim to none," Jared said not looking at Kyle.
The two stood there in silence. Kyle wasn't sure what to say to that. Was that the reason Jared had reacted the way he did? It all made so much sense now.
Kyle did the only thing he could think of. He pulled Jared into his arms. There was nothing else he could do.
"I'm sorry Jer," Kyle said softly.
"No, it's not your fault," Jared said taking a step back. He walked over to the couch and sat down.
"What happened?" Kyle asked taking a seat next to him.
"I was in a car accident, with my dad and I had some internal bleeding and whatnot. I didn't know I was even pregnant at the time. Long story short it damaged my ability to ever have children. At the time I didn't care, and I was sixteen and happy to just be alive," Jared sighed.
"I had no idea Jer," Kyle said again.
"I never told anyone, I never thought I would have to. I always thought I would never want kids. I always told myself kids were a hassle and not worth it, but things change and people change," JAred said wringing his hands together. "Then there is your family who gets pregnant just by looking at someone the wrong way. I'm a bit jealous at how easy it is for all of you."
"Yeah, it's a curse," Kyle sighed. Jared chuckled at that.
"I wasn't that mad that you cheated. I mean I was mad, but you were honest and I do respect that," Jared said quickly, "it's just she can give you the one thing I can't."
"Who says we can't have a baby? I mean I could carry the baby," Kyle said quickly.
"You'd do that?" Jared asked shocked.
"When the time comes, and we want to have kids of our own, yeah I'd do it if that's what it took," Kyle said nodding his head.
"I think I just fell even more in love with you," Jared replied.
The apartment door banged open. The pair jumped and looked to the door. Noah and Roldy entered the apartment laughing, Artie was right behind them hurrying them along.
"What's going on?" Jared asked looking to the three.
"Oh," Noah said looking up.
"They were doing something stupid and reckless and I saved their asses from getting beat," Artie said.
"Hey Artie," Kyle said.
"Oh hey, Kyle, how are you? I thought you would be with Miles today considering..." Artie trailed off.
"I needed to clear my head. Besides he's got Lu and Lilly," Kyle said.
"What's today?" Noah asked confused.
"Rion's funeral was today," Kyle said looking down at his hands.
"Oh, I'm sorry-I didn't mean to-" Noah started.
"It's ok No," Kyle said quickly giving him a small smile. It was all he could muster up right now.
-We Are-
Leora groaned as she looked at the blank page before her. She had been sitting in her room for hours. She wanted to write, but all that came out was anger and sadness. Everything always led back to Rion. It wasn't fair. It just wasn't.
A knock at the door startled her. Leora sighed and closed her laptop. She answered the door and saw Lilly standing there with a small smile.
"Mind if I come in?" Lilly asked.
Leora just stepped aside. Maybe some company would help. Lord knows where Kyle took off too.
"How's Miles?" Leora asked.
"As well to be expected. Layla and Lucas are with him right now. I just needed to get out for a bit," Lilly sighed.
"I know the feeling, Kyle took off as soon as we got home. He dropped me off and told me to tell pops he'd be back later. He's probably off with Jared or something," Leora said.
"What have you been up to?" Lilly asked sitting down on Leora's bed. She eyed the trashcan that was filled with crumpled paper.
"Nothing," Leora replied.
"Do you want to talk Le?" Lilly asked.
"Not really," Leora replied as she sat down on her bed next to Lilly.
"Bottling this up isn't healthy Le," Lilly chastised.
"I'm venting," Leora said jumping up and pointing to the trashcan. "Everything that's comes out of my head ends up about her! It's not fair!"
"I know, she was my friend too Le," Lilly said softly.
"Why her? She was one of the gentlest people I know. She had so much to live for," Leora sighed.
"Yeah, but it was her time," Lilly said. "If you think about it. She got an extra year."
"Oh don't go pulling that God has a plan crap," Leora snapped.
"Le-"
"No, what could anyone possibly gain from something like this," Leora snapped.
"I don't know," Lilly sighed looking down at her hands.
Leora sighed and sank into her desk chair. She fought back tears as she looked to Lilly. "I'm sorry, it's kind of hard to believe in something when something so awful happens."
"It's ok, I know it's hard but if we don't believe that there is something better out there, then what's the point?" Lilly asked.
"There is no point," Leora replied. "We just gotta live each day like it's our last."
"You can't tell me you don't believe in something else out there," Lilly said slowly.
"Right now? I don't know," Leora admitted.
The two fell silent. Both of them lost in their own thoughts. Leora wasn't sure what she believed in anymore. She just knew that there was no reason for Rion's death. No one benefited from it, nothing good came from it.
-We Are-
Kendall yawned as he looked over more contracts. He was also waiting for Avery to show up again. She had talked to him about recording another album. This time she wanted to work with Kendall. He had promised to help her, but he had so much on his plate. He was getting ready for the launch of Inside Joke's next album. On top of that, he was working on another tour for the guys. He had to get a show put together, and make sure everything went off without a hitch.
Kendall sighed and hung his head. None of the tour dates had been confirmed yet. It was all still in the early stages and he was already freaking out. A headache was already starting to form. This wasn't a good start to this. Kendall opened his desk drawer and grabbed some pills.
Kelly walked into his office. She paused taking in his appearance. He was sure he looked ragged. He hadn't been getting much sleep lately. In all honesty Kendall felt ready to collapse at any second.
"Are you ok?" Kelly asked.
"Is there a word for way beyond stressed?" Kendall asked.
"You need a vacation," Kelly said shaking her head. "Take a week off and let me worry about the boys. I mean I took care of you and the guys. How hard can this be?"
"No, I can't, Avery wants help with her next album, but I am tapped out for writing songs. I've given the boys everything I've got and I'm thinking a promotion tour will help with album sales," Kendall said.
"Whoa, slow down, didn't you guys just set a release date?" Kelly asked.
"We can't slow down Kel, the second we slow the is the second the boys become old news and everyone moves on to the next craze," Kendall said.
"Is this because Vivid Insanity's US tour is doing good?" Kelly asked.
"Teenagers these days are so fickle, just because their british doesn't mean they're that good," Kendall replied. Kelly chuckled and shook her head.
"If you can't do anything for her, I'm sure Avery will understand. I can work with her," Kelly offered.
"Wait a second," Kendall said slowly. He started digging through the paperwork on his desk. He pulled out some papers. "I've got an idea," he said quickly.
"What?" Kelly asked.
"When is Avery supposed to be here?" Kendall asked.
"She's already doing some vocal warm ups. I told her I'd be with her in a minute," Kelly said.
Kendall jumped up and left his office, leaving Kelly in the dark. She rolled her eyes and followed him. Kendall entered the studio. Avery was there talking with a studio tech.
"Kendall, I thought you were busy," Avery said looking to Kendall shocked.
"I was, well I am-it's nothing I can't do later," Kendall said waving his hand. "I need your help with something. I've been working on this song and the guys just can't see to get it right," Kendall said holding the paper out to her. He walked into the booth with her telling her what he wanted.
Kendall returned to the control board. He cued up the music for Avery. He gave her the thumbs up. Avery started singing, and it sounded amazing. It had everything that Kendall had been missing.
Kendall pressed the intercom button. "That's it, I think we found the next song to go on your album."
"It looks like a duet or more," Avery said.
"I intended it for the guys" Kendall said, "you can make it a duet with whoever you want."
"Why not the guys, I'd love to do a song with them," Avery said excitedly. She exited the booth.
"What do you think Kel?" Kendall asked.
"I think it would be great," Kelly said.
"Ok, let me talk to the guys and see what they want to do," Kendall said to Avery.
"Sounds good, also Kendall, if you're too busy to help me, Kelly can," Avery said.
"I want to help Avery, I just can't be super involved like Kelly can. I've got the guy's album coming out and maybe a tour, I've got a lot to do, but I can do this," Kendall said referring to the song.
"Great, I really hope they say yes," Avery said.
"If not, I'm sure we can find someone," Kendall replied. Avery nodded her head, pleased.
Kendall knew he shouldn't be taking this project on right now, but he couldn't help himself. Avery had been a winner of a contest he held and to date she had rarely worked with him. Avery was becoming a huge star in her own rights. She could go to any label she wanted, but she chose to renew her contract with Rocque Records. She was sticking around. The least Kendall could do was work with her, and show her that he cared about her career as well.
-We Are-
James made his way up to his house. He had his cell phone pressed to his ear. He was talking to Logan about taking the kids out tonight. Maybe getting their minds off of things. James thought it was a great idea.
"I know Logan, I'll get the troops ready and we will meet you at the beach," James said as he entered the house. He was met with the sight of Leora and Kyle arguing and Kendall trying to defuse the situation all while trying to keep Jenny calm. "I gotta go I'll talk to you later."
"Sounds like fun, see you in a bit," Logan replied obviously hearing the arguing.
James hung up. He took a breath and made himself known to his family. The arguing stopped at once.
"Pops." Kyle and Leora chimed. They glared at one another.
"What is going on?" James asked. The twins opened their mouth to speak. "Never mind o don't want to know. Just go get ready to go out. No arguing, go!" He pointed to the stairs.
The two took off up the stairs. Kendall sighed in relief. He walked over to James with a small smile.
"What was that?" James asked as Kendall pecked him on the lips.
"Kyle was messing around on his guitar again and Leora got annoyed. The yelling upset Jenny," Kendall said looking to their youngest daughter who was now content. "So where are we going?"
"The beach, Logan wants to get the kids mind off of Rion for a bit," James replied.
"Ok, I'll go get Jenny ready then," Kendall said with a smile. He too headed upstairs.
James let out a breath and headed to the living room to sit down for a minute. He had been running around all day. He had wanted nothing more than to come home and sleep. That all went out the door when Logan called. The kids had all been so down all week. It was understandable. They had just lost their friend. James was willing to try anything to cheer them up. Maybe this would help.
Fifteen minutes later, everyone was ready to go. James had them all get into his car and they were off. Kyle and Leora seemed calmed down a bit. At least they stopped glaring at each other.
"So where are we going?" Kyle asked.
"You'll see," James replied.
Twenty minutes later they reached the beach. The sun was starting to set. A small bon fire could be seen near the shore.
"I guess they got here first," James said as they got out of the car. Kyle and Leora took off over towards the fire.
"Looks like your plan may work after all," Kendall said to James. The pair got Jenny from the back and joined their kids and the Mitchell's by the fire. Kyle and Miles took off dragging Lillly and Leora with them.
"Oh there's she is, my pretty little Jenny," Carlos said happily. He held his arms out to her. Jenny squirmed in Kendall's hold. He passed her over to Carlos.
"You've got her so spoiled," James said shaking his head.
"I'm can't help it I'm loveable," Carlos replied.
"Jenny," Layla cooed moving over to sit beside Carlos. Jenny giggled and the two started playing.
"You are just as bad as you're papi," James chuckled.
"Well, I have been told I am like his clone," Layla replied.
-We Are-
Miles had wandered down the beach a ways, away from the others a bit. They were talking and goofing off. Miles just wanted a few moments alone. He walked up to the shore and stood there looking out at the setting sun. It was a gorgeous sight, it made him think of Rion. In all honesty, everything lately made him think about Rion.
"I miss you," Miles said softly. He bit his lip. He shook head head, he wasn't going to cry. He had done enough of that lately. Rion wouldn't want him crying anyways. She would want him happy and moving on with his life. Miles could just hear her telling him, it was ok.
The wind picked up, almost as if she was there with him. He smiled softly. He looked down at the water for a moment. He could do this. It wasn't going to be easy. It would take everything he had, but he could do it. Miles knew he couldn't waste his life away over this. He would honor her memory, but doing what she taught him. He would live each day like it was his last. He would always look for the bright side. For her, he would do this, no matter how much pain he felt. Besides, Miles had amazing friends that would help him. His gaze shifted up to the three laughing a few feet away.
"I'll never forget you Ri," he promised.
Miles returned to the others. They all looked over to him. Kyle tilted his head at him.
"You ok?" Kyle asked.
"Yeah, in time I think I will be," Miles said nodding his head.
"It's ok Miles," Lilly said quickly.
"Yeah, we will always be here for you," Leora promised.
"No matter what," Kyle added.
"Thanks guys," Miles said. The four of them continued to talk and laugh together. It almost felt like everything was normal again.
"Hey, dad brought stuff for s'mores," Layla said running up to the four. "Do you want some?"
"Hell yeah," Miles said taking off, with Kyle right behind him. The girls laughed at them.
Once they were all seated around the bonfire, roasting marshmallows, they all started talking. Everyone was just having a good time. It was nice to just relax and not worry about life for the moment.
A loud ring sliced through the air. Everyone fell silent as they looked to Kyle who was digging his phone from his pocket. Everyone watched him. Miles leaned over and looked at his phone.
"I'm surprised it took him this long," Miles said rolling his eyes. Kyle nudged him and locked his phone silencing it. "Did you actually just ignore a call from Jared?" Miles asked shocked.
"Are you feeling alright?" Leora asked equally shocked.
"Knock it off," Kyle said shoving Miles away as he tried to feel his forehead. "Somethings are more important," he shrugged.
"That's so unlike you," Leora commented looking to Kendall and James.
"Besides, I didn't drive here, so it's not like I could go anywhere anyways," Kyle added.
"There it is," James said nodding his head.
"What, I didn't answer his call, that's like a first for me," Kyle defended himself.
"I know, and we're very proud of you Kyle," Kendall replied.
"Somehow that doesn't feel genuine," Kyle said looking at his dad skeptically.
"Ok, moving on, Kyle you burnt your marshmallow," Miles said pointing to Kyle's marshmallow, that was indeed burnt. Kyle made a face and everyone laughed.
They settled back into mindless chatter. Eventually Kendall and James excused themselves, leaving Jenny with Carlos. No one really noticed the pair leave. They were all so absorbed in their conversation.
"Dude no way, Batman sucks," Kyle said shaking his head at Miles. "Spider-man is the best hero."
"No way, Batman is the world's greatest detective," Miles said quickly.
"Batman isn't a superhero. He doesn't even have an powers. All he has is a suit that he used his money to make," Kyle said.
"But he's Batman," Miles said dropping his voice low like Batman.
"That's not an argument," Kyle replied.
"It's all the argument he needs," MIles said, "he's Batman," he added in a deep voice again.
"You two are such nerds," Leora said shaking her head.
Kyle just huffed and looked away from them. It was then he noticed his dads absence. He looked around and saw them standing down by the shore. Kendall was standing behind James with his arms around him, his chin resting on his shoulder. They were talking and laughing together.
Kyle looked away, but silently he wished that he could have what they had. They had been together for twenty years now. All that time, and they were still in love as they were back then. Kyle wanted that. He wanted love that would last. He wanted someone he could grow old with and never get tired of being with them. Sure he had Jared right now, but he was bound to mess that up again. They were unstable and doomed from the start. Kyle knew that, or was Jared the one.
Jared was the opposite of Kyle. He saw everything wrong with the world, while Kyle liked to see the good in people. They got along great. Everything just felt right with Jared. He gave Kyle the courage to want to be a performer. When Jared was around, no one else mattered. The only thing standing in Kyle's way right now was James' approval. Kyle wanted to ask him, but with everything with Rion, his mind had been preoccupied.
"Earth to Kyle?"
Kyle looked over to Miles. He arched a brow at his friend.
"Hey space case, welcome back," Miles laughed.
"Sorry, I was just thinking," Kyle replied his cheeks tinting pink.
Eventually Kendall and James returned to the fire. They were both smiling and happy.
"Hey pops," Kyle said slowly.
"What?" James asked.
"I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do with my life," Kyle said slowly. James arched a brow at him in silent question. "I want to be a musician. I want to record my own album."
"Really?" James asked. Kyle nodded his head. "I can't say I'm shocked, that guitar had become attached to you lately. Are you sure about this though? This isn't something you can start and then quit when it get tough."
"I am more than sure," Kyle said pulling his phone out. "Here." he cued up the se video he had shown Kendall. Logan and Carlos moved to watch as well. Kyle sat there as they watched. Kyle chewed at his lip. He was as nervous as he had been that night that the video had been taken.
"Is this something you wrote?" James asked looking up at his son.
"Yeah, I know it's a bit rough, it's a work in progress," Kyle said quickly.
"That was good," Carlos said.
"Like really good," Logan agreed.
Kyle smiled at that. He hadn't expected that. He had been so worried that they would hate it. Now all he needed was for James to agree to let him pursue this. There was nothing he wanted more than this.
"School comes first," James sighed.
"Is that a yes?" Kyle asked eagerly.
"Yes," James said. Kyle jumped up and hugged James.
"Thanks pops, I promise school comes first. I had this talk with dad already. I won't let Jared be a distraction and I will work hard at this," Kyle promised.
"Good, if your grades start to drop though," James started.
"I'll do my best," Kyle promised.
Eventually everyone was ready to go home. It was dark and getting late. Logan and Kendall put the fire out. Everyone headed out.
"My phone," Leora gasped. She turned to run back when she ran right into Miles. She would've fell if he hadn't caught her.
"You dropped your phone," Miles said quickly holding out the pink phone. Leora smiled and took it.
"Thanks," Leora said.
"No problem," Miles replied. The two started walking to catch up with the others.
"If you ever want to talk Miles, i'm here and I'll listen," Leora offered.
"Thanks Le, but I'm the one who gives you advice remember?" Miles joked.
"Oh that's right mama Miles," Leora teased making Miles blush. She laughed and shoved him playfully. Miles pushed her back. The two took off racing to catch up with the others.
So there you go another chapter. Everyone is dealing with Rion's death in their own way. Can Miles overcome his inner demons for Rion? Will Jared get over his jealousy? Will Kyle be able to balance school, a music career, a baby, and Jared? Will Leora find the words to express how she feels? Does Kendall need a vacation? So there you go some food for thought. I think there is two more chapters left. Two more drama filled chapters. Next is the sequel, Happy Mistakes. By the way I am a total Batman fan. The only argument he needs is HE'S BATMAN! Lol I'm a dork sorry. I hope you guys enjoyed. As always more to come.
