Alice's POV
It was already December and the last Hogsmeade visit before Christmas break was today. I was especially looking forward to this weekend visit because James had been quite preoccupied with quidditch and such. I didn't blame him. He was on the cusp of transitioning from a Hogwarts quidditch player to a professional player. I waited for him by the secret passage because well James refused to go to Hogsmeade the regular way.
Giving up I slumped off the wall after waiting for fifteen minutes.
If I hurried I'd be able to catch up with Lane and go to Hogsmeade with her.
"Alice." Lane said spotting me. "Where's James?" She asked looking around.
"He's probably on the quidditch pitch." I said shaking it off. "Can I walk with you?"
"Of course!" She said interlocking my arm with hers.
"Where's Chase?" I asked realizing they weren't together and sharing each other's scarves.
"He's not allowed . . . Punishment for fighting with some other Slytherin boy."
"Typical." I laughed. "Want to grab a butter beer?"
"Yes!"
Hogsmeade was especially crowded this time around. "Seems like James and Chase are the only ones who aren't here." Lane said looking around.
"C'mon everywhere else is pretty much full." I said pointing at a table consisting of every Potter/Weasley left at Hogwarts excluding James.
"Hi!" I said sitting by Rose. "Can we sit with you guys?"
"Course." Said Scorpius deeply emerged in his butter beer.
"Excuse me." Said Lily getting up and leaving.
"What's with her?" Asked Lane in a whisper.
"Merlin knows. She and James had a row."
"Anyone want to go to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes?" Hugo suggested hopefully. "Dad said new shipments were sent in."
"Capital idea young Weasley." Lane said looking at me. "I think we could all use a pick me up.
"Not me." I piped up. I wasn't feeling too good I just wanted to go back to the castle and take a nap.
"I'll go with you." Lane offered getting up.
"No. Stay have fun." I insisted.
I made my way back to the castle when I spotted James.
"Hey Allie." He said attempting to hug me.
I took a step back. "James should I be worried?" I asked looking up at him. This was eating me inside for a while now and I couldn't stand it any longer.
"What?"
"One minute there and the next minute you're not there. Admit it you're having doubts about us."
"Alice!" He interrupted. "I do have doubts about pretty much everything expect about how much I like you."
I smiled up at him. He'd never lied to me before. "So were okay?" I asked hopefully.
"Yes." He said. "I swear." I hugged him.
3rd Person
Alice knocked on the door softly.
"Can I talk to you?."
"What's wrong Alice?"
Alice could feel tears forming in her eyes.
She had gone to the one person she knew would help her and withhold judgment at the same time.
"I . . ." She tried explaining in a shaky breath. She motioned her hand over her stomach more tears welled in her eyes.
Rose immediately got up from her bed where she was studying alone in her dorm room and took hold of Alice's arm guiding her to sit on her bed.
"Do you want to take a test? We'll . . . we'll walk outside Hogwarts bounds and you can disapparate! And I'll . . . I'll wait for you then we can get back to the castle and calmly. . ." Rose explained her plan in a panic wrecked voice.
Alice shook her head no a few tears falling from her eyes.
"It's no use pretending anymore. I've known it for. . ." Alice wiped away her tears. "I'm pregnant."
