Kishia and Tsun laughed and Kenji walked away. He watched them for several minutes. She never once removed her mask, at least she is maintaining her ANBU pride. He watched as they talked together. He decided that it was best if he headed home for the night. He walked into the backyard and looked at the stone. Someone had placed candles on it as well and was placing flowers.

He sat down near the memorial, "Sensei, Asuma, and even father, thank you for everything you taught me and for believing in me." After praying for several minutes he got up and went to bed. As he was drifting off to sleep he saw a woman in the back yard. She had long black hair and was wearing a red dress. She replaced the candles and replaced the flowers. Kurenai? He then fell asleep.

The next morning he had found that Shizune had visited in the night as well. She had come in to get a change of clothes before going back to Lady Tsunade. Word had spread around the Village that Kakashi was to be the next Hokage. Kenji found Kakashi after waking up.

"So what about Danzo? Not that I care about the guy, but I thought he was supposed to be the sixth Hokage. What happened?" Kenji asked.

"Apparently during the Five Kage Summit, he was found to be using a Sharingan genjutsu on the rest of the Kage and mediator. He was removed from service and the Kage named me Hokage, at least unless Lady Fifth wakes up. I suppose you will be staying by her side as usual?" Kakashi asked Kenji, wrapping it all up.

"I will be. She made me her personal ANBU and I will take that job very seriously. I will guard her until she tells me otherwise, or if the worst were to happen. Either way I follow her command and that of my commander and he has told me to guard over her. So I apologize if you wanted me for anything." Kenji said as he started walking away.

"Right. I was planning on having you stay at your station any way. Your future wife is there any way. I believe that this is the perfect job for you. See you around." Kakashi said disappearing into the crowd of people.

Kenji moved through the crowd, things had really picked up around here and the place has really begun to look more like an actual village. Kenji smiled as some of the kids were working hard helping them build a new academy and many Genin were fixing up houses and painting. Kenji even had a group painting his house for him, they were mainly adding the final details, putting the clan symbol here and there.

He made his way to Lady Tsunade's tent and entered it. Shizune looked up at him and arched an eyebrow. He walked over, kneeled by Tsunade, and told her to wake up soon, the village needed her. He then walked outside and watched as the other ANBU disappeared. People walked past him and he was frequently asked if she was ok. He would always answer with the usual "Condition unchanged".

The trees danced gently in the cool breeze and the clouds moved slowly as Kenji watched them go by. Shikamaru would be laughing right now Kenji thought to himself as he watched the clouds go by. Kenji turned and saw that the commander was coming, which he immediately kneeled as the commander landed.

"Sir." Kenji stated.

"Kenji, I want you to take today off, Kishia will be standing guard today. You need time to reflect and think on what you want to do if and when the worst were to happen." The commander put bluntly.

Kenji simply nodded and looked at Tsunade's tent. He stood up and saw Kishia landing. "I trust you to take good care of Lady Tsunade and Shizune."

She simply nodded as he went into town. He walked down the now busy streets and saw that many people had rebuilt things just as they were before the attack. There was even a new Ichiraku ramen. He decided he would go in and see if anything had changed.

"Welcome, oh it's you Kenji. Come on in and have a sit down." Teuchi was right back to work and making delicious ramen as usual.

"Yea I think I'll have a bowl." Kenji said as he sat down on one of the new stools. "One beef ramen please."

"Beef? I thought you normally ordered pork." Teuchi asked.

"My future wife and I have a pet pig. She would get upset if she saw me eating pork. Old habits fade away when a new life begins." Kenji simply put, trying to sound profound.

"That's understandable. Who knows maybe you will come to like beef ramen even more." Teuchi said delivering the bowl.

Kenji sat and ate in a comfortable silence. He watched Teuchi work as people would come in and place an order for delivery then leave again. The subtle smell of the ramen boiling away and the meat grilling on the grill only served to make Kenji eat faster. He got up after eating paid Mr. Teuchi, and then continued his walk around town.

He passed by several people diligently working on rebuilding the academy. He saw that Iruka was in charge of the project. He slowly made his way over and tapped Iruka on the shoulder. Iruka jumped in surprise, but then laughed when Kenji started laughing.

"Hey Kenji, what's going on? I thought you would have been diligently guarding Lady Tsunade right now."

"I was, but the ANBU commander told me to take today off. Plus he put someone I can trust on the detail. She will guard Lady Tsunade as well as I could." Kenji said vaguely.

"I see, you can't tell me her name because she is one of those secret ANBU members. Unlike you, or how Itachi was. Perhaps I shouldn't have brought up a traitorous person like Itachi." Iruka said pondering his choice of phrasing.

"No kidding Iruka, throwing me in the same lot as that Itachi." Kenji said as he watched the building continue.

They were building it fairly similar to how the first was. This time adding the secret passage to the safe area lower this time. So that way they could access it from this new level and add it to the existing scape tunnel. Kenji offered any assistance he could, which usually involved catching pieces of debris if they feel. After a while Kenji walked away continuing to see how the rest of the village was.

There was still much of Konoha left unfinished. Kenji would offer his assistance in any way he could. Most people told him that they didn't need his help. He felt useless, so useless, until a young man by the name Inari came to see him.

"Hey you're the water guy right?" The young boy asked. It was the same boy on the road, the one with those defiant eyes, like Naruto.

"I do use water style yes. What do you need?" Kenji asked proudly.

"The diggers have just finished a lake and they need you to fill it up. Come on I'll show you." He started leading Kenji through the village and to a large hole in the ground.

Kenji walked out into the middle of the hole. People watched and started talking about how they used to never trust him. Some people commented that he has yet to leave Lady Tsunade's side until today. Kenji made his hand signs and focused his chakra.

"Ninja Secret Art; Water Release Jutsu!" soon the hole began filling with water.

It was real shallow at first, but he kept channeling chakra in to it. People smiled and waved as they watched it slowly keep filling up. Kenji kept the focus up until it was completely filled with water. He soon had to swim up to the surface and out of the hole. People clapped their hands and helped him out of the water. All I did was fill a hole with water, what is this?

He moved on from the new lake and walked around town, mostly to dry himself off now. He went to his house and saw that they were done painting it. It looked perfect, at least in Kenji's eyes. He went inside, walked out the back door and put his wet clothes on a clothes line. He changed into a new set of clothes and left the house, but not before paying respects to his memorial stone.

Kenji decided that it would be best if he checked in on Kishia at Lady Tsunade's tent. As he approached he saw that several people were moving about the area. He ran up hoping that she was awake, but when he got there he noticed that it was just people clearing out some debris. He helped them move to clear it away before he checked on Shizune.

"Hello dear. How are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm doing well. She still hasn't made any signs of movement. I can't give up on her. She helped when I was missing you. She told me that you were doing fine and that you thought about me all the time. You even kept the picture of us when we were kids up on the night stand. I didn't believe her until I saw it when we got back."

"How did she know all about that? I checked my house all the time for intruders." Kenji said arching an eyebrow.

"She had her ways I'm sure." Shizune said with a smile, before turning back to Tsunade.

Kenji left the tent and continued his walk around the village. He saw several people whispering near the tent, but they stopped as he walked closer. They soon split up moved through the village. He picked one of them and followed them as they made their way out of the village. Kenji followed them out and eventually caught up to them. Luckily enough he never went anywhere without his weapons.

"You there stop where you are." Kenji said demandingly.

"So I warrant the attention of the Leaf's ANBU and you of all people came to see what I was up to. How very interesting. I was merely checking to see if the rumors were true. Low and behold they are, not only is Lady Tsunade unconscious, but one of my own grandchildren is her personal pet." The man said throwing off his cloak and mask.
