Symmetrical Love
A series of drabbles about Liz and Kid and their relationship. Each Drabble will bounce back and forward through their relationship. Updated when I get an idea.
Chapter 52: Balance
There was always a need for balance. Kid knew this better than most. It was ingrained in his very being, that was probably the reason he was so obsessed with symmetry.
That is why he had two weapons so he could keep his own balance. But at the same time he had to remember that his weapons were individuals and they needed to be treated as such. Their whole partnership needed to be balanced.
One example of such treatment was the girls outfit. He would have preferred that they wear the same thing but relented to let them alter the clothes to match their styles.
As much as he might want to make everything match he knew he couldn't do so with people. He might complain about it every once in a while though.
He did try to treat his weapons fairly and equally.
Things got harder when he started to date Liz. Obviously their relationship was changing and he was spending more time with her alone and it felt like he was neglecting Patty.
One day he found Patty by herself in the living room drawing something on paper. He found it the perfect moment to try and balance things.
He sat down besides her.
"Hiya kiddo! What's up?" Patty cheerfully greeted him.
"Hello Patty." He cleared his throat. "There is something I wanted to discuss with you."
"Really? What?"
"Since I started dating your sister things between you and me have felt wrong. Things between us have felt unbalanced. I think I need to make thing more balanced between us, to match the new changes in my relationship with Liz."
Patty stared at him for a moment before she glared at him, "Kid I am not sleeping with you! Yeah, you're hot and if we were together it would blow your mind. But still I'm not going to do it because it would kill Liz!"
"No! No, no, no, no." Kid could not emphasize it enough. "No, that is not what I meant. I was trying to say that I felt like I was neglecting you. You are still my partner and my friend and… dare I say, family. I don't want to make you feel left out. I don't want our relationship feel unbalanced."
Patty stared at him for another moment to gauge if he was being honest, "Oh, okay. Don't worry about it."
"Patty this is important."
"Kid, don't have another symmetry fit. Yeah, maybe we don't spend as much time together but I don't think anything feels wrong. You're making my sis happy as long as you do that I'll be happy. That's pretty balanced, right?"
"I suppose so."
"You and I won't be doing the kiss-y things but it's not like you ignore me. If I really need you or Liz you two would be there in a heart beat. I know it! But the closer you get to Liz the closer I get to having you as my new brother, so that's balanced too. It all evens out in the end, kiddo. Just continue to be the awesome kiddo to me and Liz and it will work out."
Kid smiled knowing how supportive his weapon was and how mature she had gotten.
"Plus if you feel guilty you can just give me a bigger allowance!"
"Patty!"
"How about just giving me more money until you guys give me some reaper nieces or nephews?"
Author's Notes: Okay, a little close to the end of the day buts still the day. Today's theme is balance and I think it works here. Please let me know what you think by leaving a review. I shall get some sleep and work on the next one as soon as possible.
