The next morning, as soon as breakfast was over, Arata, Rikuya and Haruki headed over to the teacher's office to inform Mito-sensei about the whereabouts of the second Parasite Key. But on the way there, they spotted Seredy entering the office too. He soon saw them and flashed them a smile before entering.

"This will be tricky, especially with Seredy around." Arata frowned. "It'll be bad if he knew that we already know that they have one of the Parasite Keys and eventually figure out you-know-what. And I doubt that Itan Kyouji would actually let him know that we already know."

"Do you really think that Seredy would give it to us if we asked for it?" Haruki wondered.

"I don't think we should risk it." Rikuya shook his head. "If our suspicions are correct, then they won't hand it over that easily."

"Anyway, I think we should find another time to inform Mito-sensei about this. I doubt that we should let the other teachers hear this anyway." Arata shrugged.

"You're probably right." Haruki nodded and they headed back to the classroom. But what they did not know is, Ayabe was listening to their conversation having left Gendou's side for a moment to spy on them. Now that he had heard enough, he slipped away to head back to the classroom before they got suspicious.

Mito-sensei did not know what to say when Rikuya quietly asked to see her privately with Arata and Haruki during recess hour in the class. But she did know that if Arata was involved, it usually meant something important.

"What is this about?" She asked when all of the other students left the classroom, leaving her with Rikuya, Arata and Haruki.

Rikuya nodded at Arata who nodded back and told her, "We know where one of the Parasite Keys is. Yesterday, Ezeldarm tried to convince me to join them because of my Overload and told me that they already have one in the process."

"Ezeldarm?" Mito-sensei raised an eyebrow. "They have one of the Parasite Keys…and what did you tell them?"

"I refused to join them and said nothing about Rikuya's Parasite Key." Arata promised her.

"Good." Mito-sensei nodded in approval. "Currently, a lot of teachers are suspecting Ezeldarm for various reasons and one of them is that they are Bandit. It is important that we don't let anyone know about Rikuya's Parasite Key outside of Jenock and Harness and I would like to keep it that way. Who else knows that you were scouted?"

"Only the first platoon, including Mia, and Rikuya." Haruki answered.

"Tell them that under no circumstances are they to tell anyone about this. And Rikuya, we need to come up with a strategy so that Jenock can protect the Parasite Key better."

Rikuya nodded but Arata could tell that he was disappointed that the responsibility of protecting it was no longer only his and the third platoon's responsibility. But even so, he knew that Rikuya have to come to terms with it eventually so he said nothing about it.

"Rossius pressed an attack on Ezeldarm during today's War Time." Mito-sensei told the student gathered in the briefing room after War Time. "Here's the video." She stood aside as the screen came up.

Mia immediately scanned the Gunthers and Gleriors and was relief to find neither Muraku's platoon nor Wataru's. But her relief turned into shock when Ezeldarm's LBX turned out to be the exact same type of LBXs that Bandit uses. "What the…"

"Those are Bandit's LBXs." Arata frowned. Their strength was very similar to Bandits as they mercilessly cut down the Gunthers and Gleriors, making them LOST. Daimen leaned forward to have a better look but winced and quickly straightened up. Arata saw this and raised an eyebrow. He also noticed that Mia was holding on to her left arm in a casual manner but he could see that her face will screw up in pain for brief seconds before turning back to normal.

"In terms of numbers, Rossius' army was three times the size of Ezeldarm's. However, all of their units became LOST. They were wiped out." Mito-sensei said seriously.

"All were LOST…" Yuno whispered.

"They're strong." Haruki remarked.

"But using the same units as Bandit…" Arata trailed off as he did not know what to say.

"Care to tell me how did they both of you get injured?" Yuko asked Daimen and Mia as she and Atsuya nursed their injuries when they came over.

"Their numbers were triple of what we fought for the last few days." Daimen winced when Yuko dapped some alcohol on the long gash across his shoulder blades. "So we had to go down there personally instead of splitting. If we did so, then we would easily tire out and the Night Lurkers would have defeated us."

"Maybe splitting isn't such a good idea after all." Mia said as Atsuya fastened an armband onto the part of her arm where the bone was broken. The armband vibrated when turned on and began to fix the fracture. But when he was done, his hand lingered on her arm for a moment. Mia rolled her eyes and jerked away. "Anyway, not that I don't like the Fantasy Band, but there has to be a way to go fight the Night Lurkers without anyone finding out instead of spittling."

"Maybe. But for now, we just have make due with what we got. I'll try and look for other methods though." Yuko told them as she fastened the bandages on Daimen. "Since the week is nearly over, you two should have a break. Reika and Nick can take the next round."

"Great." Daimen held up his thumb.

Yuko nodded and went over to the portal at the end of the room. "Come on. The sooner we get you to the Pool of Healing, the sooner you can go back."

Daimen sighed and stood up, careful not to lean forward and followed her into the portal, casting a glare at Atsuya.

"I better get going." Mia reached for her bag but Atsuya stopped her.

"Your arm isn't healed yet."

"I know." Mia said frostily as she pushed past him, pulling the armband off. "But that doesn't mean that I'm going to stay here for long."

"Can't we talk about it?"

Mia spun on her heels with a heated glare at him. "What's there to talk about? You're happy with your new girlfriend and I'm happy being single. I don't have to worry about you breaking my heart again and you don't have to worry about me dragging you and Charlotte Rein down."

"Mia, I'm sorry for what I did. But I realized too late that you were more important to me than Charlotte is." Atsuya pleaded.

"Too bad. Because I have no intentions for falling for your lies again." Mia snapped and quickly headed down where Arata was waiting for her.

"How's your arm?" He asked her as they walked out together.

"Better." Mia subconsciously rubbed the part the bone fractured. "But Daimen has to stay there longer."

"I see." Arata kept a thoughtful expression on his face. "If you split from your Original Form, your injuries would normally be half of what you got in the fight. But if you transform into it, you will still sustain your injuries."

"Yup." Mia nodded and sighed.

Arata could see that she was sad about something and frown. "Did Atsuya say anything to you?"

"Yeah." Mia nodded while pushing away some strands of hair that slipped out of her fishtail braid. "He's regretting breaking up with me."

"Can't believe he's regretting when it is his fault in the first place." Arata muttered under his breath. "So how are you holding?"

"I didn't slap him for that so I could say that I'm holding up well." She shrugged.

"I see. But did he say that he wanted to get back with you?"

"Not directly." Mia shook her head. "But even if he got down on his knees and begged, the results will still be the same, I'll reject him."

Arata said nothing at that but his eyes glinted at the prospect of executing the plan which he and the others had painstakingly put together to teach Atsuya a lesson for cheating on Mia that weekend.

That night, Arata read through another book which he borrowed from Yuko's library and flipped through it on his bed. Hikaru got curious at it since it was an old leather cover with jewels imbedded in the binder. "Arata, what book is that?"

Arata peaked over the cover at him. "Oh, it's a book that I borrowed from Yuko-nee. She has this huge library with books about our powers and how to control them so I want to read some of them to see if I can power up my powers."

Hikaru raised an eyebrow at that. Since he had found out about Arata's powers, Arata had been a little more open with him, Haruki and Sakuya to the point where Arata would talk openly about them if there was no one else around. "Do you think that the Night Lurker attacks would stop anytime soon?"

"Unfortunately, no." Arata shook his head as he shut the book close. He was about to put it back into his bag when there was a yell and a thud sound from the room beside them.

"Isn't that from Rikuya's room?" Hikaru frowned.

"Yeah." Arata nodded with a thoughtful look. "Let's go check it out."

They scrambled for the door and glanced out. There was already a crowd in front of Rikuya's room, including Roy.

"What's going on?" Arata asked as he and Hikaru went over.

"We don't know. But Kouta said that he wanted to talk to Rikuya earlier so I'm assuming that something happened in there." Roy told them.

"…You know what these are, don't you?" Sure enough, Kouta's voice travelled through the door. "These are the units of the players who believed in you and became LOST for your sake! And now you are saying that you want to run away? They'll never forgive you for that!"

"We knew that Rikuya was very upset that his father was dividing the responsibility of protecting the Parasite Key so Kouta wanted to talk about it with him. But I guess that it is unsuccessful" Roy sighed as he explained why Kouta was yelling that at Rikuya.

"You won't get much through his head just by telling him that." Arata said bluntly and opened the door despite everyone's protest.

Rikuya and Kouta glanced up in surprise at them as Arata strode over to Rikuya. "You are an idiot you know. If I had a father and he gave me a duty, I would be extremely glad to do so no matter what the cost. Even if he divides the workload among my friends, I still would be happy, because the main responsibility is still mine and it shows that he cares for me and wants to lessen the burden on me."

Rikuya blinked in surprise as did the others. This was the first time they heard Arata openly say that he did not have a father. "Sena-kun…"

Arata gave him a small smile. "Your father may be scared because of Bandit. That's why he wants you to share the responsibility. But that does not mean that he's giving up on you or he would have just told you to give the Parasite Key to someone else."

"He's right." Roy said in agreement. "We have to protect the Parasite Key for the sake of the world. It is our duty. But no one understands that the most is your father. Please, understand his feelings."

"We are classmates, aren't we?" Arata asked him. "Like I told you before, I have my personal opinion on the Second World, but that does not mean that I will turn away from a friend in need. I'm sure that everyone in Jenock feels the same. So, we'll help you protect the Parasite Key."

"You don't have to shoulder this burden alone anymore." Haruki added.

"He's right." Hikaru nodded in agreement and so did the others.

"Everyone…"

"That really happened last night?" Reika said in surprise as she, Arata, Diamen, Yuno and Mia walked to school together.

"Yup. But I think Rikuya will be fine from now on." Arata smiled. "By the way, Yuno and I will be going to the teacher's office first when we get to school so that we can get permission for Yuno to use Dot Phasor."

"You're giving it to Yuno?" Daimen said in surprise.

"Yeah. I always wanted to try it out." Yuno nodded enthusiastically.

"But didn't you promise Daimen that…" Mia shut her mouth when Daimen elbowed her in the ribs. She glared at him and elbowed back twice as hard.

"What's wrong?" Yuno raised an eyebrow at the sceen.

"Nothing." Daimen shook his head. But he leaned in closer to Arata and whispered. "You owe me for this."

"But of course." Arata whispered back sarcastically.

Reika giggled and hooked her arm around Mia. "So what did Arata promise Daimen?"

"He said that he can use Dot Phasor if he gets a new unit." Mia whispered back with a chuckle. "But I think he forgot about it. That's why he agreed to let Yuno use it."

"What are you talking about?" Yuno cocked her head at them.

"Ah~ Yuno, you certainly do not know what my brother did, don't you?" Reika sighed dramatically. "So I'll tell you. He…"

"That's enough Reika!" Arata clamped his hand over her mouth.

"Ow, Afada!" Reika cried but it was badly muffled by Arata's hand over her mouth and Mia and Yuno burst out laughing at that.

"Reika, you should hear what you are saying now." Daimen snickered.

Reika pouted as she yanked off the hand. "Arata, they're being mean to me!"

"Reika, you're sixteen. Act like it." Arata said in mild amusement. The rest of the group burst out laughing again. Reika pouted further but eventually, the edges of her lips twitched and she laughed along with them.

'Life's certainly never boring even with the Night Lurkers prowling around.' Arata thought to himself with a smile.
