Summary: Experiences are what shape people into who they are. What happens when the majority of someone's experiences comes from the streets? One young boy gets left on the streets and in doing so changes the entirety of his life. Without any knowledge of who he really is, he must face a world of magic and rise above it.
Notes: this is my own take on the whole idea of Harry growing up on the streets and making it a bit of a Severitus challenge. As with most stories of this nature, it was inspired by the story "Not Myself" by Saerry Snape. This is my own way of making it, via the help of my lovely sister and editor (some of the time) Daeleniel Shadowphyre. So I hope people like it, and I hope it makes sense. Also, yes there will be cockney within this piece. I have my reasons for sticking to as close as I can get to the sound. Don't worry; the dialogue on Victor's end will become more refined, eventually.
Chapter 54
Victor had a frown on his face as he made his way towards Severus' office. His mind was racing over his latest encounter with Blaise Zabini. Of course, this was only because he wasn't sure what to think of the boy's actions. Those actions were something that he hadn't experienced at such an intense level before. He reached Severus' office and knocked on the door. There was silence as he waited to be granted entrance into the man's office.
Suddenly, the door opened and caused Victor to jump in surprise. His surprise came from the fact that he hadn't expected the door to open. He had thought that he would have heard someone saying enter. He looked at the person that had opened the door and saw Professor Dumbledore standing there. The man smiled at Victor. "Hello Mr. Snape. I take it that you're visiting your father?" Victor stared at the man and nodded after a moment. He hadn't expected to see the headmaster in Severus' office. However, he stood and waited for Dumbledore to let him in. The old man smiled. "Well, I was just going to leave. I hope that you two enjoy whatever it is that you plan to talk about." Victor stepped out of the way and watched as Dumbledore left. He turned and looked at Severus as he stood in the doorway. The man had a scowl on his face.
Severus gestured for Victor to walk into the room. Walking into the room, Victor closed the door behind him. Severus was sitting behind his desk and rubbing his temples. Victor saw the action and knew that he needed to keep his mouth shut for the time being. He sat in a chair and remained silent. Severus continued to massage his temples with a scowl on his face. The look caused Victor to wonder what the headmaster had spoken to his father about.
Victor continued to wait for Severus to say something. It took a bit, but Severus' eyes finally fell onto Victor. "I do apologize for dragging you away from whatever it was that you were doing. Though, I do imagine that you were likely relaxing." Victor frowned. Severus rarely ever apologized for anything. This meant that the younger Snape was worried about what Dumbledore might have said to the man. Severus let his hands come to rest on the desk and sat back. "I did want to ask you how your first week went. I wanted to make sure that you were properly adjusting." He stopped talking and closed his eyes. "I know that this is difficult for you, Victor. It isn't ideal for either of us." Victor nodded in response. He had nothing that he could say to those words. Yet, he was curious as to what Severus wanted. Severus then opened his eyes and looked at him. "Did something happen?" The older man continued to watch Victor.
Victor sighed and nodded. "Zabini keeps saying things. He actually went and asked about my family life from before you and I disappeared." He watched as Severus' eyes closed again.
Severus laced his fingers together. "Well, what did you tell Mr. Zabini?" Victor sighed and started telling Severus the story that he had given to Blaise. He wanted to see what Severus would say about the story. While it had followed what they had agreed upon, Victor had realized during his walk that he had altered a couple of details. Severus nodded after a bit. "While it is a slight alteration, it is a credible story. It also helps that nobody knows anything about my…Partners." Victor shook his head in response to that. He didn't to think about Severus' sex life.
Victor shrugged. "It was the best that I could do. It was on the spot and I will admit that. I only wanted him to leave me alone. I don't like that he's snooping this much. It is almost as bad as dealing with that Granger girl." He shook his head. "She keeps making statements about everything. She also butts into things that she has no business getting involved in." He looked at Severus and hoped that he would have some idea of what to say.
Severus made a noise. "Truthfully, I'm unsurprised when it comes to that particular student. She hasn't made a very good impression on me in the past week. She's worse than some of the other Ravenclaws that I have had the misfortune of meeting." Victor was slightly amused by what Severus had said. The man was trying to be diplomatic, though even Victor could hear the man's distaste for the girl.
Victor looked at the parchment that was on Severus' desk. "Well, I'll deal with her on my own. However, I think that everything is starting more quickly than we had thought it would." Severus raised an eyebrow at that. Victor shrugged. "Well, what I had thought. I was certain that everyone would be a bit slower to adjust. Then again, I had thought that the headmaster would have said something to everyone by now." He then stopped talking. He didn't have much else that he could say. He knew that he had done what he needed to do, which was all that he could do for the moment.
A/N: Well, here's the chapter. Hope that you all enjoyed. Later.
