Joss yawned as she exited her bedroom, dressed and ready to do some housework for the first time in three days, and she felt human. She hated getting sick and she rarely did, but when she did….watch out. She had the worst cold in the history of colds. Or at least the worst cold in recent memory she ever had to deal with. It knocked her for a loop.

Her back hurt from lying in bed for three days, her nose felt raw but overall she felt better. She trudged down the stairs knowing the bottom floor was going to look like a tornado hit the place. Her son wasn't exactly Suzie Homemaker and besides that he left for a school field trip to Washington D.C. two days ago. She hadn't done laundry in forever, and she knew the dishes had to be comically piled up.

She wanted to head back into her bedroom and hide from the mess. However Joss forced herself to continue on, landing on the bottom floor barefoot, in faded jeans and a loose fitting powder blue t-shirt. But she froze because on the bottom floor there was no tornado that had hit the place, nothing was out of place. In fact her place looked spotless. She furrowed her brows as she rounded the banister and walked determinedly into the kitchen and found it tidy and clean. There wasn't a single dish in the sink.

"Okay my boy is a good kid but even he'd leave me one dish," she muttered as she sniffled a bit. Was her house hit by magical cleaning fairies or something?

Her eyes found a white envelope laying on the clean gray countertop and she moved towards it. She opened it slowly and pulled out a 'Get Well Soon' card. She opened it and read. A smile slowly started and twitched up until it filled her face fully. She shook her head as she finished reading it. No magical cleaning fairies…just John. She was down here last night for only a few seconds, long enough to get medicine, and it looked like a disaster hit it, so he must have come by sometime after that or this morning. She whirled around and hurried to her living room and peered out the large window, since it was garbage day.

She shook her head in amusement as she watched John in his suit, taking her trash out for her. "The man in the suit, the urban legend, just took my trash out," she muttered to herself as she turned away from the window and walked to the door, throwing it open.

John turned and looked at her. "Close the door, it's too cold," he commanded as he walked away from the curb and back towards her with a scowl. "This is how you caught a cold in the first place, Carter," he reprimanded, shooing her back into her place as he closed the door to her toasty home.

"Not to argue with you since you cleaned my home and did all my chores for me so I can just relax, but you don't catch colds because you're out in the cold," she said and earned herself a look. "I'm just saying, John."

"Is there anything else you need done before I leave?" he asked.

"Well there is one thing," she replied, trying to keep a straight face.

"Name it, Carter," John said instantly.

She smiled as she got up on her tip toes and kissed him. He sighed as he kissed her back. She took gentle sips at his warm lips before deepening it sliding her tongue across his, wanting it to go on and on but knew he had to leave, so she ended it as she dropped back down onto her feet.

"Now I'm good," Joss purred softly, licking her lips, and he looked a little off-kilter before he became expressionless as he reluctantly turned to walk to the door. "Oh John, just one more thing…"

"What?" he said as his hand hovered over the knob as he had the door open, poised to leave. He was looking back at her.

She grinned. "That's how you catch a cold, by spreading germs," she replied. John glowered at her before he turned and exited her home. She giggled to herself. One of these days they were going to stop the playful kisses and backing off their feelings, and she for one couldn't wait.
